Christianity Etc › Re: Another Perspective On The Doctrine That Forbade Women From Wearing Trousers by StillDtruth: 3:04am On Jun 10, 2024
OnknownSoldier:
The doctrine that forbade women from wearing trousers is most common among Christian denominations of black descent. These denominations believe that women who wear trousers go against Deuteronomy 22:5 and in doing that will end up in hell for sure. Standing in contrast with this view are other Christian sects who believe that God is only interested in the intent of the heart and not bodily appearance. They further argue that trousers were never part of the garments in the Bible and, therefore, can not be bound by the law of Moses.

Now, this article is not to further reecho the popular defenses for or against this controversial doctrine but to carefully analyze the true position of the scriptures from a perspective that is less talked about.

Please know that the book of Deuteronomy recorded the great speech that Moses gave to the Israelites as they were about to enter the land of Canaan shortly before he died on Mount Nebo. Before that time, the Israelites had countlessly turned against God despite the great signs God had shown to them in the wilderness. Moses feared that the Israelites would surely turn against God when taken away so he decided to institute laws that would keep the Israelites obedient to God [Deuteronomy 4:1].

The laws instituted by Moses are not just laws to keep the Isrealites loyal to God, they also serve as a constitution for justice- a constitution that will help promote a peaceful coexistence among the Isrealites. For example, Deuteronomy 15:1-3 talks about the guidelines for cancelling debts. Deuteronomy 15:12-18 enumerated the procedures for freeing a slave. Please read Deuteronomy 17:8-13 for a clearer understanding.

It is very important to note that the verse 5 of Deuteronomy 22 that reads, “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this” is not standing in isolation. Therefore any other law in the same chapter must be treated with the same regards. Failure to do this is simply being mischievous. No one should cherry-pick the law of God according to his convenience. All the laws should be equally regarded.

Verse 22 of the same chapter 22 says, “If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.” Now, how come those who believe in verse 5 of the same chapter turn a blind eye to verse 22? Is this a possible oversight or are they implying that this has never happened in their congregation before?

Verse 9-12 reads, “Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard; if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled. Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.” Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.”

‭‭No one obviously follows the above laws anymore, not even those who hold tightly to verse 5. It may interest you to note that Moses gave a law that a rebellious son be stoned to death in the chapter before 22 while he was still speaking [Deuteronomy 21:18-21]. I can go on and on and on to show that the advocates of Deuteronomy 22:5 only handpicked a few laws of Moses and then neglected the rest.

I boldly put it to anybody that the laws of Moses were not all from God, some were purely formulated according to his personal discretion [Matthew 19:8]. To be exact, most of those laws were fashioned according to the culture and peculiarities of the ancient Israelites, therefore, they no longer have a place in today's modern world.

Let's go to Hebrews 7 to see the New Testament position on the law of Moses. Verse 11-12 reads, “If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.” Read that again. In fact, verse 19 is even more brutal, it reads, “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.”

In conclusion, I believe that anyone who still holds firm to the law of Moses is either a Judaist or hasn't caught the revelation of the New Testament covenant. The New Testament Christians are not obligated to the law of Moses as it has been annulled by the new covenant occasioned by the death of Christ on the cross. So It is scripturally inconsistent for anyone who still practices Deuteronomy 22:5 not to obey all the laws of Moses to the letter.
Your presentation in the cloth of argument is purely fallacious and lacks merit as it is based on "if you keep this (Deut and if you do not keep that'"

If you like scream that The Law God gave to Moses is annulled, it is of no effect because, it is only The LawMaker who has a right to repeal and amend The Law.

And there is no place where God Said The Laws He gave to Moses, is repealed and expunged.

Rather Christ clearly Said "Keep The Commandments"! Mathew 19:17

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

They brought the Religion to us, they brought the bible to us, the same Bible which says thou shall not kill nor steal, they killed us, they stole our gold and Mineral resources, sold us to slavery. The once who brought this religion to us are not even practicing the religion their selves. Not like Muslims who are still deeply immersed and buried in Jihad. Is this thing really true because what I noticed in white men is that if the give you a pair of shoe they want to collect your legs in return, if they give you a necklace, they want your neck in return. I have worked with them for 11years now and I know them in and out. today we are serving the people who are supposed to serve us. About this Christianity, Your father did not tell you the truth cos his father did not tell him the truth. Even the original manuscript of the Bible, so many things are not included in what king James translated to English (king James version). Because the Christian god is a hypocrite. He tells his followers, "thou shall not kill", but guess who is the greatest cause of death to innocents and guilty alike in the bible?

He also says "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you", but guess who plans to torture his own enemies forever?

The entire thing is poorly written fiction about an incompetent, insecure, blood-thirsty control freak.
Why you full of stupidity? Do you pretend not to know that "thou shalt not kill" means thou shalt not kill without good and just cause?

Or are you too stupid not to see that "thou shalt not kill is for our own benefit?

And of course is it not just that a person who kills, should be killed, so who else can justly enforce this Law, and give Just is to the mursered?

Satan didn't need faith to relate with God, because he was with God and experienced all His majesty and power. Yet, he went against Him. That is unforgivable. It is the same reason that the Bible (I think in Hebrews) said a man that has experienced the power of God in a large way and then falls back will not be able to repent (or something like that). My thoughts, though.

See how stupid you are? If God created man in his image, it means everything about God can be found in human, do you not see that God created man good, and that there was no evil in him?

If you had sense you would have seen that man only became evil "AFTER HE ATE THE FRUIT THAT BRINGS EVIL, WHICH , SATAN, THE EVIL, AND NOT GOD, THE GOID, MADE HIM EAT".

WHICH GOD, THE GOOD, ALREADY FORETOLD THEM, "DO NOT EAT"!

That's because the story will end. It's just like how Batman needs villains to stay relevant. But in this case, the Christian god is the one creating villains for himself so he can justify certain actions of his.

8 Important ways to live a successful life as Christians.

Here are 8 ways to live a successful life as Christians.
1)You must believe in Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
2) By studying and meditating on the scriptures to attain success in our work...
This is very funny.

You are not a christian if a person does not already believe in Christ, he is not yet a christian and therefore is not ready for the walk on living the christian life succesfully.

And this cannot happen without the not-christian reading the bible.

Thank you for this your comment. Obviously it’s a gray area and we both know it would be very difficult for most families to agree to it.

When the time is right he might have a change of heart of heart or like I told him marry a lady from the west.
As you can see, multitudes complied with natural law marriage even though some families were wicked, so its no grey area really but just a matter of if your intending is worth the wickedness.

From the lack of responses here you can see no one escaped it.

I think your friend is being silly for being a Christian has to do with living a full of doing the good and avoidance of doing the evil.

And basically marriage requires that you take the consent of the parents of your intending partner, which means any and every rellevant person in the family of your intending, must be regarded, honoured and respected which is the basis of traditional narriage.

So your friend should properly channel his objection as we know that the only valid objection against traditional marriage is its abuse by wicked and evil familees

I agree with you that the world is so crazy and unpredictable.

The girl I dated for 3 years, I ensured I built her to my taste as she's the person I wanted to marry.

I encouraged her to learn skills outside what she's studying in school, I paid part of her catering and crafts training where she learnt how to make different chops and bakes.

I also told her to learn a digital skill, of which she chose video editing and I paid for her training in full.

Our relationship ended in the course of her completing the video editing training.

Now she's with a new guy in less that 2 months of our breakup and is now utilising the video editing training I paid for her training in creating contents online and she's really doing good at it.

All of my dreams of creating my own quality woman is now another guy's gain. He's basically gonna reap where he didn't invest 😂

This made me accept what they say, women think with their emotions and not their brain.
