Pulling numbers out of thin air isn't a sound way to present a point. >5% of mothers would definitely be intrigued by and welcoming to their son's agemate or an older woman that he brings home as a potential partner. Even without a proper statistics, it is common knowledge that the vast majority of African mothers wouldn’t allow their sons marry someone who’s older.
