No. It suggests that Nigerians are getting poorer. Purchasing power has reduced

That seems to suggest that a large percentage of the fuel usage in the country were for our neighbors.
————————-

You are both correct. Posters above. 20 million. Reduction in daily consumption means about 15 million goes to neighboring countries and maybe 5 million less as a result of reduction in purchasing power. Don’t forget it’s a necessity so reduction in purchasing power can only affect it in a small percentage

You've just spoken my mind. Most youths of today are too ignorant of our laws. They've access to information with the internet but have chosen to remain ignorant. The power of approval of a new monarch lies with the governor. In the last two years we saw this in Osun State, when the Governor approved the appointment of a new Ooni. The Governor of Kano State also did the same for the Emir of Kano.
I am not going to argue with any one of you. What you should know is that, there are grave consequences if the tradition is broken. They don't fight for land in eshan uromi edo state where i come from. It automatically goes to the first son. If you dare pluck a mango on that land without the approval of the owner (first son) you will be striked by an unseen forces. A number of death has been recorded. No charm was placed on that land, it automatically takes effect once the father is late. So same goes to our Oba of Bénin. You can never talk about appointing him. Death await whoever dares it. Benin Kingdom is not hausa or yoruba land. Are you aware that a woman who reserved some money out of the money she sold from her husbands kolanut farm died as a result of such action? Yes, she died. Don't dare joke with the edo culture. Anything can happen right here while you type thrash on Nairaland. It's not a threat. Just some fact i thought you should know. As for the ladies, better don't marry an edo man if you know u are under curse to share it around.... Cos you will run mad and there will be no cure. The list are end less.
Oshiomole would not even dare it. That was the work of an overzealous errand boy.

But according to the constitution, the Federal government owns all lands in the federation. So what lands are they talking about?

A friend from the Niger Delta was telling me that there is no road linking his community to land, his people must travel by speed boat to go home.

There was a time the government was almost ready and serious about connecting the village to land. That's a form of development and a welcomed idea right? Interestingly, his brothers in the community who took arms in the name of fighting for their development and against their marginalization demanded 50 million before the commencement of such project and that was a grand opening and grand closing of a project we longed for. It was dead on arrival

So whenever this guy reads people claiming that these people are fighting for his community's development, his kind wish is that they choke on their imagination and also wish the terror these individuals bring to his communities in the name of development extends to their communities too.
Sorry, but it happening every where in Nigeria. Before you fix road, before you even build hospital in a community for their own benefit, they collected the money for the hospital and didn't build it till date. This happened in Lagos.... before you even build your own house. You will have to pay to them. So it's not a Niger delta problem. It's a serious issue affecting the whole country.
***Modified***
IN agbara industrial layout, conpanies were taking to court for trying to fix the road there. Winners chapel was dragged to court for trying to do a minor maintenance on the same road prior to his shiloh annual event. But they had better connection than whoever took them to court and they carried out the minor maintenance.
Science/Technology / Re: Manatee Caught By Fishermen At Obuamu River In Rivers State (Photos) by straight2point(m): 12:53am On May 20, 2016
popesam1:
A big ass aquatic creature known as"Manatee" caught at obuama river yesterday by two fishermen.

Here are what you don't know about this Big Creature. "Manatee"

Manatees are thought to have evolved from four-legged land mammals more than 60 million years ago. Except for the Amazonian manatee, their paddle like flippers have vestigial toenails— a remnant of the claws they had when they lived on land.
The Amazon species name "inunguis" is Latin for "without nails." The name manatee comes from the Taíno (a pre-Columbian people of the Caribbean) word manatí, meaning "breast."

Manatees' eyes are small, but their eyesight is good. They have a special membrane that can be drawn
across the eyeball for protection. Their hearing is good too , despite not having outer ear structures,
because manatees have large inner ear bones.

Manatees' only teeth are called marching molars. Throughout a manatee's life, the molars are
constantly replaced — an adaption to their diet of abrasive vegetation. Manatees have only six neck
vertebrae. Most other mammals, including giraffes, have seven. As a result, manatees cannot turn their
heads sideways, and must turn their whole body around to look behind them.

Algae, photosynthetic organisms, often grow on manatees' skin. Manatees never go on land.
Manatees don't always need to breathe. As they swim, they poke their nose up above the water's
surface to catch a few breaths every few minutes. If they are simply resting, they can stay under the
water for 15 minutes without taking a breath, according to National Geographic.

If a country has been messed up by a group of people for over 16 years & we are stupidly expecting things to turn around in less than a year, that means we are all being unrealistic & just a bunch of pessimistic thinkers. All these problems being talked about today started years ago by successive governments & the worst problems began from 1999 & we know those that were ruling us then till this year.Let us make one thing clear,as in very clear, crude oil sells for less than $50 a barrel
now,our economy over the years has been solely dependant on oil, common what miracle are we expecting to automatically have economic boost in the country at this time? Our economy would be in decline until we diversify & that is a process ,not just we sit down & start lamenting & fooling ourselves on social media & all.I have not seen people come up with constructive blueprints, publish articles on what could be done to make the country move forward, not talking with reference to idiots that have messed the country up for years making them feel like saints, with the crop of ministers we have in place now ,it is obvious that things should get better & policies put in place appropriately. We should all know that the country cannot afford to fail now & we have someone who sincerely has the interest of the nation at hand,so let's just be constructive in our criticisms & hope for the best. GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

U are so correct, but don't forget the crude oil prices was already dropping below $60 when. He started campaigning for election. He was aware of that before promising free meal for children, stopping boko haram in 2 months, stipends for the unemployed and many more promises. Lest I forget, technology village, just farm and government buy advert on TVC. The weird thing is that no one is talking about it now. Everything looks nice because APC the propagandists are in power now. If not for the lack of knowledge of economics and how the economy is being run, such plans for the country would have been discussed within the party or on campaign grounds on one condition, if the crude oil prices return to $150 as it was before the election.

In conclusion, Let him face the heat

MEANWHILE HE WAS RECENTLY EJECTED FROM A RENTED HOUSE IN ABUJA

https://www.nairaland.com/870649/nigerias-ex-leader-buhari-ejected-over

African Examiner
Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Former Head of State and one time minister of oil resources, General
Muhammadu Buhari, (rtd) has been ejected from his Abuja residence
following his inability to pay the N20 million rent demanded by his landlord,
Newsdiary Online, a news portal has disclosed.

According to reports monitored by our reporter in Abuja, the retired general
who is also the presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change,
CPC in the April 2011 general elections, was expected to renew his rent
which was due after the initial payment.

Consequently, he decided to move his property to Kaduna when he could not
raise the amount demanded by the landlord.

It was gathered that owing to inability of Buhari to raise the N20 million
earlier requested as rent for the building at Number 11 Queen Elizabeth
Street, Asokoro District, Abuja, the landlord reportedly reduced the rent to
N15 million but Buhari could still not raise the funds.

Reports say the original rent was paid on his behalf by a former minister of
defence, General Theophilus Danjuma, (rtd) which enabled Buhari to move
into the house which provides shelter to him any time he is in the Federal
Capital Territory.

Buhari was said to rebuff suggestions by his friends to approach Nasarawa
State governor, Alhaji Umaru Almakura who won the governorship seat on
the platform of his party, CPC, for financial assistance insisting that he
would rather maintain his integrity than ask the governor for money.

It was also gathered that Buhari also resisted a similar pressure to approach
President Goodluck Jonathan for assistance to enable him keep the
apartment.

“Some of Buhari’s associates who wanted to avoid his ejection actually
reached out to the owner of the property, and the landlord even agreed to
slash the rent to N15 million for the sake of the General. Sadly, he could not
pay and he accepted the option of moving his property to Kaduna. Buhari is
believed to have made up his mind to put up somewhere he can afford
whenever he has something to do in Abuja henceforth”, the News portal
stated.

Any smart person would understand what happened one month prior to the presidential election....Power holding was bought and paid for by Tinubu...but from May 1st till date, electricity has returned to normal even before baba go slow took over power....nothing has been done in the power sector till date as far as I am concern. The electricity you are enjoying today was the work completed by GEJ. If something has been done, the question is who did it? who is your new minister of power. I just weep for my country cos the masses are so blind to differentiate facts from propaganda and wouldn't even realize it when they are being sold into slavery. I just wish I could open your mind/eyes to know the difference between facts and propaganda.
