Car Talk / Re: Benz C240 Guzzling Fuel by Structuralman: 6:20am On Jun 29, 2021
blackgig:
Guys, I need help ...

My C240 is guzzling fuel...so under mixture enrichment cold if you look at the fuel consumption display it shows it should consume approx. 40.0 litres/100Km. Fully warmed up on a flat road over maybe 10 kilometers it shows approx. 21.3litres/100 Km.

What could be wrong? I understand when it's cold, it should be around approx. 16.0 litres/100Km and approx. 9.3 litres/100Km when warmed up.

What are the possible things to check?

Please help.

Scan the car and post the results here for proper diagnosis and solution. Secondly, did the problem just start or that's how the car has been since you bought it?
Car Talk / Re: Honda CRV Fuel Economy by Structuralman: 6:10am On Jun 29, 2021
godwinasky:
Hello guys!

Please i need solution to my Honda CRV's excessive fuel consumption. It has a fuel tank capacity of about 60 litres, and i have observed that it runs about 200 miles or 320 km at that.

The oxygen sensors, spark plugs, catalyst converter( indomine) have been changed, and the nozzles where serviced. Asides, i do petrol treatment and use injector cleaner for every 80l of fuel. I don't use AC because of this, and i don't drive beyond 120 km/ hr most times and my tires are usually well-inflated.

So, i wonder what i could do to improve the gas milleage of the car. I would really appreciate ideas on this.

Thank you very much guys, and happy independence day in advance!!

Your CRV should do 8.5 km per litre. But you are doing 3.5 to 5km per litre.
Has your car always been doing this when you bought it?
Did you do any fixes to your car and then later notice it's consuming too much fuel?
Finally scan the car and post the results here for proper diagnosis.

Please I need help on my car AC.

At first, the AC was working perfectly, later it was only the fan blowing and not cold at all. Took it to an AC repairer, he examined it and told me some tubes around it bursted and so it leaked. He fixed it and it was working fine again. 5 days after, same thing happened, it was only blowing air and not cool at all.

I took it back to the guy. He examined it and told me it was the coil that is faulty. And I can buy a new coil or repair the one there already.
Told him to repair thr faulty coil, he did and it is working.

Now the issue is it is not cold very well, and if i increase it will only bmow more here than beong cold. Please, i want it to be veru cold as it should be.

Somekne says maybe i need to fix gas or maybe it is leaking, i don't really know. Please what could be wrong before i take it back again. I am just tirer of spending money on the same issue. Please help o

The car is 2005, toyota corollq

Check the expansion valve of your AC. If it's faulty your AC will work for a few days before it starts blowing like fan without cooling.

I Don't change for fun, I just notice rough idle and hard start, when I then change the spark plugs, everything comes back to normal

You shouldn't be changing the plugs every 2 months. It's abnormal. Find out what's causing the plugs to get soaked and rectify it. Do a car scan.

City Driving boss

The specification for your car is 25mpg.
That is 10.55km per litre.

Your car is doing 425km for full tank.
That is 8.5km per litre.

Not too bad for fuel economy.

Let's assume this is correct. What are the steps one can take to rectify this.

Boss, most of the roles are placed on 6 months, which in most cases serves as part of a probation period to monitor & see if you can deliver on the job, they always get extended (subject to availability of funds) so you need to do some more research, be willing to take risk, connect with folks already working in the organization to give you information about the work culture of the organization, funding availability, career progression, risk taking....etc......

I know a couple of folks who started with the 6months contract, but they are still in the UN system till date.....get in first & start solving the mathematics of your next move from day 1.

I took the risk, started with 6 months, now am counting years in the system, I asked a lot of questions in my case, did a lot of Google search, connected with professionals in my feild....never take these for granted.

Hope this helps.. smiley

Thanks a lot for this comprehension explanation. It's very helpful. God bless you sir.

All the vacancies I am seeing for my position are for fixed terms ie 6-12 months.
I don't want to work in such place and then get kicked out. Are there no vacancies for permanent staff rather than all these contract staff positions that I am seeing?

PS : My discipline is Engineering. Thank you for your Goodwill. If all Nigerians were kind-hearted like yourself the country would be a much better place. Don't mind the naysayers on this thread.

I am a Female Nigerian in my early thirties and have been working @ the UN for several years.

This thread has been created to answer specific questions you may have about working in the UN.

I have been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic and my days are always extremely busy ; juggling official duties with domestic responsibilities as a wife and mother cry. Notwithstanding, I will try my best to select serious questions and provide comprehensive feedback that will help you kick start your journey in this regard.

As the thread progresses, I shall be posting vacancies from several UN/international organisations in Nigeria, and also provide support with helping you to brand your CV for international organisations like the UN, but not limited to the UN.

Please note that this thread is for serious minded peeps only and comments irrelevant to the purpose of this (life changing) thread will be overlooked.

Kind Regards,

What you should do for B13 (according to the list xcitedjay shared [which is accurate])

1. CHANGE your engine oil and filter

2. Rotate your tyres

3. Change your transmission fluid. Very important and so easy to do. (Take your car to a pit and let them drain the transmission oil, replace with exactly 3 quarts of transmission fluid and ensure there are no leaks. You don't want gear problems in your Honda)

4 Reset the service engine light so the time for your next routine maintenance can be properly estimated

Source: my buddy had a Honda although I don't like Honda (front tyres) cheesy

While performing steps 1&3 make sure you use the recommended engine oil and ATF.
