Boss do you have personal Scanning device you use for your car or you go to rewire guys for scanning? If you have personal scanning device, which one would you recommend for me that is cost effective. Thanks

Search for diagnostic car scanner on Jumia. Some use Bluetooth while others are connected via a cable to the obd2 car port. Price varies from 3000 to over 150k. Yes it's a wide range to pick from depending on your pocket.

My Toyota corolla 2005 doesn't consume fuel much, (I bought the car from a professor in University of Ibadan, and the engine has never been open (so the mechanic told me), everything intact, custom papers indicated he imported the car in 2016), but i discovered of recent when a mechanic checked the exhaust, it has no Catalyst. so, my thoughts are 1. should i buy cat and get it welded on the head of the exhaust, or (2) i should tell them to weld pipe wink i just need advice

Catalytic converter doesn't improve fuel efficiency. It simply converts all the toxic gases produced by the engine to less harmful gases before releasing it into the atmosphere. In this part of the country we don't do emissions test otherwise your Corolla would fail an emissions test. If I were the owner of your Corolla I would keep using it like that since you said it doesn't consume fuel much.

I noticed that my o2 sensor connection was removed by the previous owner and I asked the mechanic to reconnect it, he did and my car started getting hard to accelerate. I removed the 02 sensor connection and everything went back to normal. Should I continue driving the car like that? It's a corolla 2003

Do a scan first.

catalyst is not major factor of fuel consumption.

the real culprit are upstream O2 sensor, open loop, engine tune up, airflow sensor

My Honda EOD Gear delays for 3-4 seconds when moved from Park to Drive.

I have changed the transmission oil twice but still same issues.

Just been managing it for a while now but I want to have it fixed.

Do I have to change the gearbox.

Is the D light of your car blinking? What brand of ATF did you use to replace replace the transmission fluid?
What error codes did you get after scanning?

Good afternoon house, please I need to it assistance here with My Honda Accord 05.

If I start the engine and put the gear in drive it doesn’t work/select all the time, unless it’s place on reverse then back to drive before it’ll select, last night the drive shift didn’t work at all, then this afternoon it started working when I tried it again

What could be the cause or i should start thinking of gear replacement?

What kind of transmission fluid do you use? What color is the fluid on the transmission dipstick?

Kokomo:

I get P0172 at time, when I clear it , it doesnt re-appear till about a month. I notice slight misfire though, P0304 very rare, I think is due to the Rich condition.

I am considering a compression test on all the cylinders, hopefully it is not a case of worn or fauty engine due to rings or gasket.

Will keep the house update,

But if you have any other pointers, please assist

These are the possible causes for the P0304 code:

-Valve adjustment
-Faulty spark plug 4
-Clogged or faulty fuel injector 4
-Faulty ignition coil 4
-Fuel injector 4 harness is open or shorted
-Fuel injector 4 circuit poor electrical connection
-Ignition coil 4 harness is open or shorted
-Ignition coil 4 circuit poor electrical connection
-Insufficient cylinder 4 compression
-Incorrect fuel pressure
-Intake air leak

High Negative Short term and Long term fuel trim All the time, Edakun help me

But because the longterm native fuel trim hasn't crossed -25%, my ECU is yet to set a p0172 code, but my fuel consumption had been bad affected, before I do 34mpg average, now I do roughly 26mpg, same route to work

What error codes do you get when you scan?

I wud luv 2 get a gud scanner too but nt more than 10k budget. Even if it is only engine faults it can diagonise. But it shud be one with a plugin cable nt bluetooth. Thanks.

You can also get a scanner than can diagnose basic car codes on Jumia. The cost is less than 10k. It's not the finest but it can do what I want it to do and even more. Got mine from there.

similar issue here, but a higher version of Camry. I don't usually use coolant. I just need to keep refilling water max 3days. No over-heating yet.

Also check your radiator cover to ensure the leakage is not from there.

I noticed rough idling on my Corolla 2003. Got it scanned and it threw up the P0300; Multiple Engine misfire.
I changed all four plugs, had the injectors cleaned out...
The vehicle was rescanned and the codes cleared. The check engine goes off
After driving for about 10 minutes the check engine lights again and the rough idling resurfaces.

Now the mechanic is suggesting so many things; timing chain, leaks and even dropping the engine. I'm not comfortable with his guess work...
I bought it toks August last year...

Did you rescan? What codes did it throw after the rough idling resurfaced?

Yes. Check if it’s wiring is loose. If it’s firm then either the sensor itself is bad or your codes are O2 sensor related.

Ok sir. Many thanks for your help.

So to conclude...the encircled in red is AF sensor right?

First Pic is the location of your IAT sensor.

Second is the scan codes description

Third and fourth are your components locations.

There is no issue with my IAT sensor which you encircled in red. Could you please send me a pictorial location as you did above of my upstream O2 sensor?
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Structuralman: 11:14am On Oct 03, 2021
Conner44:

If you look behind your engine, at the part facing the firewall you’d see a metal covering over your exhaust manifold. Your AF sensor is under that pan. If you have a space on your O2 sensor socket and a sensor plugged in but with nowhere to link it to under your front passenger seat then I believe that part of your harness is either hidden (wires bent back/way from where it’s supposed to pop out from) or lost (cut off by a prior auto electrician).

So try to go under your passenger seat with a flashlight and a flat screwdriver, push your passenger seat all the way forward, loosen the single plastic floor carpet fastener, pull back the carpet and look around very carefully. The main harness port where you are supposed to plug in your O2 sensor runs from under that chair towards the handbrake/gear lever part of your car and then straight ahead to the brain box.

You can try doing the checking at night when your eyes can focus well with your flashlight. You would see the plug for your present O2 sensor dangling somewhere under there then look around for the main harness port. Go on YouTube and watch how to plug in the sensor for your car and you’d see everything you need to know.

Thank you very much for this.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Structuralman: 8:19am On Oct 03, 2021
Conner44:

Okay that’s settled. If you haven’t changed the brain box of the car before then you should be having emissions malfunction codes if you’re driving with only one sensor. There should be the AF sensor on your exhaust manifold and the O2 sensor at the catalyst part of your exhaust pipe. Have you scanned the car already? Which of the sensors is missing?

The 02 sensor on the catalyst part is present but the rewire said the socket under the drivers seat is missing. Will scan the car for missing sensors (Like AF sensor) when I come back from church. Yesterday's scan threw codes P0135 and P141.

Can I ask how you know for sure that it’s a sulev engine? The sulevs are supposed to have an extra o2 sensor and a different type of catalyst.

Sulev was written on the side glass.

I just checked, it's a SULEV engine.
