It's a useless suggestion. Rather than save USD in Nigerian banks, people who earn in USD will start saving with PayPal, Payoneer, Binance, and co. At the end of the day, Nigeria loses.

Stupid advice to say the least. If CBN tries it, many who live in Nigeria but have businesses that earn in foreign currencies would stop allowing their foreign currencies to enter the Nigerian economy. They can save their money in foreign banks or fintechs like PayPal, Payoneer, etc., and only bring in what they need for their upkeep. Foreign banks and fintechs can use the money for business, while our banks can't smell it.

The problem in Nigerian business space is that both trust 'capital' and legal negotiations are low to none existent.

I suppose there are many working /business class Nigerians with good idle savings that could serve as investment capital for others but would be (rightly) reluctant to do this because trust is LOW even among supposed friends.

1. By the person proving it's not. Tell him to post chat screenshots of the conversation he had with the person sending the money. With a verified Binance account, you don't need to be scared using their P2P. Buying from other sources is where you need to be scared.

A student needed money, so his friend abroad told him he'll send him some money.

As much as we like to criticize this govt which I do everyday and I hate this this govt to the bone, sometimes let's look at things objectively please

1. On your part as an individual: In Nigeria, you hear a knock on your door by 4 am, and you rush to open the door?

2. On the part of EFCC: You say they have intelligence, right? As it is in all parts of the world, that intelligence must include the crime committed by the individual, the date and time the crime was committed, and weight of the crime (the amount involved in the case of financial crimes). Without these, no judge would issue you a warrant.

Have ever seen an EFCC raid report that has those information? Those information tells you that there's a crime ab initio. Not just a random harasment.

You only see those information in high-profile cases requested by Interpol or FBI. Then, you see EFCC post notice of wanted individuals with those information for each person.

This tells you that what they do in their local raids is illegal. You don't just randomly invade someone's place and say they're fraudsters without telling us what they did. As a law-abiding citizen, you must not support illegality in any form and from anyone!
