He stated that these would also continue to hinder the country’s development, noting that if citizens did not consider merit and competence in choosing their leaders, the country would make no progress The most successful countries in the world are built on merit and competence and not quota systems. If a region is falling behind, invest more funds and resources in primary and secondary education and stop cutting corners with quota system. |

kikero: Am sure some people will soon come here and say the buildings are ugly
Well, the fees are less than N100000 naira only. That's $258. Meanwhile all those nice universites abroad charge fees as high as $10000 and above. So they can have nice and beautiful buildings. You can still build beautiful buildings with less funds. Using open space, local material, steel frames and glass will cost less money than building using concrete blocks. The natural attraction and the landscape of Kogi state can be adapted to the construction of the university. Just look at the university of Ghana

showafrica: 200B divided by 200m = 1k usd each. However, children are 100m while adults are 100m means each adult in Nigeria should get 2kUSD each. Again, this 200B came from Ipob land alone, we no put arewa and oduduwa land unless, they dont contribute anything. 2KUSD over five years works out to be 91 cent for every Nigerian, that is less than a dollar a day. |

saaron: Yet Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world. You got to give it to buhari's regime, the only regime in the world that specializes in creating poverty and hunger within a short period of time. Make buhari president of America today and watch him make America poverty capital of the universe within few years. It's not about lack of resources that is his problem, it's the ability to creatively manage the little resources and turn it into wealth that is his problem. Besides, a jihadist and sharia fanatic obsessed with FULANIZATION can never be expected make great financial decisions talk more of creating wealth.
Buhari fits perfectly with the parable of the pound (Luke 19:11) - about three men who were given monies to invest and trade by their master. But one of them instead hid his money in the ground and refused to trade for return on investment. In the end, the little money given to him to invest was taken away, thus leaving him in abject poverty. Buhari is that man that hid his money in the ground. He's devoid of investment skills and technical know how of wealth creation using little resources. Is it by accident that Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world under buhari's regime? Is it any surprise that the little resources Nigeria has at the moment is being used to service the country's huge debts profile made worse by this regime? Indeed, a man can't give what doesn't have.
ONE NIGERIA DOES NOT EXIST! $200 billions over five years for a country with a population of 200 million. The question is how did Nigeria avoid not being poorest country in the world much earlier? |

Buhari came in, all what he did was to plug loopholes by implementing TSA and everything fell in place despite below 40 dollars per barrel of crude oil GEJ borrowed to pay salaries and wasted the return from the high oil price. Buhari continued with GEJ program, he borrowed to pay salaries, continue to subsidies imported dirty PMS fuel and borrowed excessively in foreign currency to fund consumption. |

Rossikki: You are a complete DUNCE, just like the idiots who liked your rotten, spiteful post.
Where did you get the 95% - 5% figures?
Out of Uranus?
You must be a really sad fellow to see PROGRESS and spit on it.
Nigeria is a DEVELOPING COUNTRY, in the same company as 80% of nations on earth.
There is NOTHING to be ashamed of in being from a developing nation. Corruption, mismanagement, social unrest, poverty, are all part and parcel of being a DEVELOPING NATION.
So also are wealth, development projects, political evolution (when was the last time you heard of a coup in Nigeria?) etc etc.
ACCEPT YOU COME FROM A DEVELOPING NATION. You are not America. Or Britain. Or Germany. Your annual budget is 35 billion USD based on mostly oil and gas earnings. The USA's annual budget is 6.1 TRILLION dollars.
Japan 1.7 trillion dollars
Germany, 1.6 trillion dollars
France, 1.4 trillion dollars
UK, 847 billion dollars.
Spain, 535 billion dollars
Nigeria, 35 billion dollars
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_government_budget
Nigeria is NOT a rich country.
With or without corruption, we would still struggle to develop.
Our main challenge is to raise national income via diversification from oil and gas.
When a 2nd skyscraper goes up in Uyo, a place that was virtually a village a few years back, it is a sign of a BUSINESS FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT, and of the slow but steady economic transformation of the region it represents, and by extension, of the country.
Applaud it. A DUNCE calling someone else a Dunce Nigeria is an underdeveloped country. A country with a population of 200 million, bless with arable lands and mineral resources such as oil, iron ore, gold, copper, cobalt etc..... shouldn't be proud to publish a budget of $35 billion. |
