dives: Thank you for your views. I agree with you. While the Iranians, Chinese and Indians are making waves in America like you said, Nigerians are doing extremely well and are still the most educated group if I am correct. I think I am, I still confirmed it recently. Yes Nigeria has its challenges but we are making progress day by day. Don't believe everything you see in the media. The media is always biased just like the man that was being interviwed. That was why I mentioned how Nigerians are doing very well in the US but the US would make you believe all Njgerians are scammers. Yes Nigeria still has a lot to put in place but trust me we are not doing badly. UK slipped into recession during this pamdemic, people have lost their jobs in America. Before the pandemic there were homeless and poor Americans who could not afford education and basic health care and there will still be after the pandemic. These countries do not have a perfect system but they come around pointing out your flaws like they want to help but really they are just looking for what to gain and how to sell their brand. For Instance America would have sold weapons to Jonathan, to fight terrrorism but they did not, because GEJ favoured Chinese businesses over American businesses. French colonies still use the franc till date and everything they make is remitted to France for "safe keep". Have you also ever wondered why a commodity like oil which America imports is sold in USD? Do you know what you are doing to the USD by doing that? You are making it stronger. Which football league is the most watched in Nigeria? The ENGLISH premier league. Do we have local leagues or we don't? These Countries are only selling their interests when they come to you with their so called "help". They are masters in the art of brainwshing, bullying and waring and they are not as sincere as they portray themselves. Yes Nigeria still has a lot to do, there is poverty, our education system is poor, and our people are very corrupt. That's obvious. But we can choose whoever we want, to seek our help from. China has been very helpful and that is the reason why America is so embittered. The Countries you also compare us with have been thriving for centuries. One day we will also get there if we all love our Country, and fight for her interests like they also love theirs. You said Yes Nigeria has its challenges but we are making progress day by day. Nigeria is not dealing with it's challenges, they haven't even started, the lack of basic infrastructures, Rail, roads , water systems , electricity and security is an indication that the country cannot diversify the economic. Don't believe everything you see in the media I don't need the the media to inform me that Nigeria a country of 200 million can only transmit 5000 MW and distribute 3000MW , the reason why many investors are closing up and relocating their industries. The fall in the Naira doesn't help investors, talkless the ongoing insecurity, corruption and lack of economic strategy. Unlike you, I less concerned with America or China and will rather focus on Nigeria inability to implement an electrictity generation strategy that will generate 80- 100,000 MW . Iran and Vietnam despite USA sanctions and aggression have both managed to improve their electricity capacity to 80K and 70K MW respectively. You said.. Yes Nigeria still has a lot to put in place but trust me we are not doing badly. UK slipped into recession during this pamdemic, people have lost their jobs in America You must be living in a cave to write the above, comparing Nigeria that is in its second recession in five years with USA and UK. |

Farki: It's not that simple, the military and Co will have no qualms in killing as many civilians as they can in order to maintain the status quo.
We might not see a change unless you are ready to fight the government or the military and Co decide to rebel from within.
Although I doubt that would happen soon because Nigerians love to sing "one day e go better" and be praying for a somewhat better future or to enjoy in the afterlife. They are already killing Nigerians with the insecurity, corruption and extreme poverty. Whether we like it or not Nigerians must now take control of situation by protesting, they can't kill 200 million Nigerians and the military rank and files are also fed up with the elites. Nigerians must strike now before its too late and the country mortgage off to well organised Chinese and Indian then it will be impossible to free Nigerians. |

Welcome to Nigeria. If you think that is bad just look at the qualification of Saleh Mamman the minister of power and electricity and you understand why Nigeria will continue in living in darkness. Saleh started his career in 1981 as a teacher in Technical School, Mubi, Adamawa State. In 1992, he transferred his service to Taraba State. He was promoted to the rank of assistant director in the ministry of works in Taraba State and retired in 2002. After his retirement, he became a full-time businessman and politician |

dives: I love your post. It is America that is becoming irrelevant by losing hold of a strategic nation in Africa like Nigeria. America is so desperate that they wanted to twart AFDBank's president, Adesina's relection so that we will not have access to loans to develop our country and come begging at their doorsteps. America is losing Nigeria to China and they are desperate to reverse the tune of events. When you talk of the group of educated emigrants in America making a difference, you are talking of Nigerians but they will rather paint us black to achieve their sinister aims. Nigeria has abundant resources and we have the market that can make foreign investors a lot of money due to our population. America brings nothing but destruction, like they did in the Iraq, Libya, Yemen and so on. As at the 60s, America was spending billions of dollars to fight a war in Vietnam. Can you imagine the wastage? As "great" as America claims to be there is no comprehensive health care for every citizen, Corona virus made us realize this. What of education? Their higher education is one of the most expensive, with student debt growing every year. Meanwhile, their counterparts in Europe have free education. America is the one losing influence not Nigeria. They should go and settle their issues and leave us to settle ours. Nigerians are not the only educated immigrants in USA. The Iranian, Indian and Chinese are not only educated, they are major players in Silicon Valley and Wall Street. Abundant resources that are being depleted by Chinese and Europeans. Nigeria, after 60ys of self-rule cannot extract or refine the oil that their country depend on, despite the president being the minister of petroleum. |

stanley07efe: I can certainly understand why this degree of physical and sexual abuse towards Nigerians on their own soil by our new colonial masters is shocking, the reality is that there is a history of both direct and indirect abuse by Chinese masters that provide desperately needed employment for Nigerians. Chinese companies in Nigeria are abusing Nigerians due to the consequences of the impact of a failed state and our best export "corruption". Chinese companies were granted consents to set up industries without regulatory and governing human rights laws, health and safety nor basic employment rights. The Federal and State Government officials does not monitor nor evaluate compliance because the personnel from the Ministries responsible for monitoring compliance have been compromised, the Chinese officials have bought these so called compliant officials, and in some cases these compliance units do not even exist. This situation is even worse in Edo State where the Chinese have set up glass and tile manufacturing industries where scores of young desperate Nigerians have died needlessly from industrial accidents and severe injuries. most of these desperate young Nigerians are unaware of their rights and they have been subjected to severe physical torture and abuse. The Chinese masters act like GOD like superior race and maltreat Nigerians that are seen as subhuman. Even disturbing is the fact that these Chinese companies acquire huge lands without adequate lease contracts that would add value to the environments where they are situated. They do not provide social infrastructure nor even tarred roads or energy, but they will handover used vehicles to the locals in exchange for endless acres of land and lease. As an unwanted foreigner in China you are not allowed to own land and your rights are limited, but in Nigeria we are being colonized with our young men abused and young women sexually exploited and abused. Enough is Enough Nigerians need to rise up and regain its independence from our new Masters, our Governments cannot enable this process because this would expose the nefarious alignments in high platforms. I am appealing to Nigerians with conscience to rise up and restore our indepence for those that are marginalized and have no stake in a country that has lost its soul Where were you during the revolutionnow protest? Talk is cheap, if you want change you must be prepared to die for it or continue being a slave. |

I welcome any advice that will improve my skills or a promising business idea. You have gained experience and not lost money. Nigeria currently has a negative perception in the international world, so I would suggest that you develop projects for free in return for recommendations and references, that will boost your profile and market presence. I will only consider Upworks developers that have a wide range of skills and star rating, however, I will not consider certain countries unless the developers has very high star rating. Consider joining : https://www.toptal.com/You have very good web development skills and learning python is a must, but I will suggest that you parther with someone that has good software engineering skills and build a development team that can deliver a full technology stack, that involves frontend, middleware and backend platforms based on DevOps CI/CD deployment. |

Abohboy: That’s not true, do you know how much transmission infrastructure costs, we can only handle 5000MW on it but we produce 13 000MW so for 33 000MW it will cost over 30 billion dollars, to produce the electricity and create the transmission capacity to handle it and distribute it. Nigeria can only handle 5000MW transmission because... - The government owns TCN , a government that can't even manage the oil refineries will now supply gas and transmit electricity. - What kind of government will generate electricity in Egbin, Lagos state and then transmit electricity to Maiduguri in North East Nigeria. A smarter government will localise the power source, generation and transmission of electricity to a region. A new 5000 mw will cost $2-3 billion if localised to the SE, transmission construction cost will fall to to less that $500 million. The hydro dams in the North will serve the North - Power generation should focus on supplying only establishments, government facilities such as waterworks, sewages systems and industries. - Solar power can be dedicated to housing and education facitities - Nigeria Minister of Power have always been political appointment based on self-interest when the country is crying for technocrat. Saleh Mamman - A civil servant with no notable work experience excent as a school teacher as a state government civil servant for 20 years. Babatunde Fashola - clueless Bartholomew Nnaji -Brilliant technocrat that was only given one year before he was forced to resign by the weak GEJ When Prof. Bart Nnaji resigned his position in 2012, the Economist magazine in its article titled "A Bright Spark is Extinguished" stated that Mr Nnaji's supporters say that opponents of privatisation belatedly and unfairly engineered his departure.[citation needed] “Nnaji was the best person for the job,” says an adviser at the presidential task-force on the reform of power. “But he was getting in the way of other interests.” A spokesman for Mr Nnaji said he had faced "totally wrongful accusations" and chose to resign honorably.[5] |

All these good-on-paper policies should be put into making the power sector (and road networks) really functional and not the epileptic state it has been for decades.
If you want to grow the Nigerian economy, give the people power (electricity) Nigerians are borne manufacturers/entrepreneurs but lotz of unfavorable factors (power and capital being the chief of 'em) frustrates their growth and sustainability.
Enough of these grammar to FORM ACTIVITY For less than $10 billion Nigeria can easily add 20,000 MW to Nigeria power grid. |

Politics › Re: Nigeria Stagnates While The Power Rotates. Who Are We Doing? By Samuel Akinnuga by sulaak(m): 4:13am On Aug 11, 2020 |
Northern Nigeria: Where power and poverty co-exist
This is no coincidence. No history of any nation (such as the North could be thought of) in the position of a triumvirate of privilege (political, military and economic), over another has ever given it up voluntarily. Power is never given, my friends; it is taken. That said, history also teaches that resistance to such iniquity cannot endure. It will implode unless the north gets wise, and fast. More so, that the high concentration of power coupled with a similarly high concentration of poverty in one location is a dangerous powder keg bound to explode in the fullness of time. Consequently, short of a revolutionary overhaul of the North-South power imbalance, this piece offers a new perspective on how the North could diffuse the clarion call for “restructuring” through smart politics.
First, what is the genesis of the North’s privileged position vis-à-vis the South anyway? It is simply landmass and population. The geographical area called ‘North’, the originally unified four kingdoms along the corridors of Kanem Bornu and Mali empires, is said to be double that of the southern states combined at more than 20,000km2.
The above is also what informed the largest number of states and local government areas being located in the North. Overall, this has led to an uneven distribution of resources. Control of the Federal Government machinery has thus become pivotal. Bauchi State (five million), for instance, has 20 local government areas, compared to the oil producing Rivers State (12 million) with 23 local government areas. Kaduna State (12 million) has the largest number of federally-funded institutions in Nigeria (50+), and counting. The numerous institutions are larger than those of the whole of the south-western states combined. Lagos (21 million) has less local government areas (37) than Kano State (16 million) with (44). Number of local government is an important yardstick used in federal allocation of resources. These are just a few highlights. Ownership of oil blocks is another story for another day. For now, the point is clear.
The key to sustaining this material advantage is, first, the “federal character” principle and, second, the “state of origin” rule. If truth be told, federal character principle is an inordinate quota system; a spoon-feeding settlement for the North. Federal resources (human and material) are disbursed based on landmass and population. Merit, know-how, expertise and qualification play very minor or no part in the selection of positions into key government departments and agencies.

Asia is much more regarded and even attracts better attention on issues of intimidation, terrorism, and political violence. After 60 years wouldn't you be fed up with a continent that can't get simple governance right. I am still trying to understand how Nigeria despite the abundant of oil, gas, solar, wind , uranium and hydro resources cannot delivery basic electricity that impoverished Asian and Latin American countries have mastered. |
