angelfallz: i get you, but it is us the common people that would suffer before that blessing is realised. You are already suffering, do you actually think you benefit from the oil export. The government has refused to function because of the sharing of oil wealth. Why should someone living in Lagos or Kano be interested in the oil export price? The country will now be forced to diversify or die. Necessity is the mother of invention: When the need for something becomes essential, you are forced to find ways of getting or achieving it. |

DAVE5: Cancel which loan, money that has been shared already
Persons to benefit from the loan have submitted their numerous fraud alert account details already, i'm guessing you're not going to get a cut from the loan, I won't either Cheif the loans have only been agreed, it remains for the government to request the loans from the lending organisation and I can bet no agency will be approving any loan to Nigeria with oil selling at $30 per barrel. |

Chief, the oil money has been used to oppress Nigerian, at $30 per barrel Nigeria cannot sell oil as the cost of offshore and deepsea oil extraction is between $25-35 per barrel. The oil well is now dry, those wicked people will not even be able to raise a loan to buy luxury cars. |

The only thing is to cut spending If they don't have incoming funds, the government will be force to cut the cost of governance, all those loans to pay for luxury cars will have to be paid back. This is the best News for Nigerian, the oil well is dry, the government will now have to increase taxation and depend on the people instead of IOC. |

The OPEC Plus agreement between Saudi Arabia and Russia was bound to fail, due to the overproduction of US Shale oil and now with oil racing toward a low of $25 per barrel only low production countries in the middle east can make a profit from oil export, for Nigeria, the failure to diversify its economy is now looking like a disaster.
How will Nigeria generate $5-10 billion per annum to service its debt? Maybe, Nigeria should consider cancelling the planned $22 billion loan immediately and focus on a debt restructuring programme for the remaining $90 billion. |

Lagos was building various Small Power Plants and was ready to buy gas from NNPC to run them and facilitate its own growth but OBJ, as a stooge of the Northern Parasites, insisted that whatever Power Lagos generates with its own money, must be infued into the National grid so that some Parasites up North can have it for free! No be today all these Quota system of governance has been setting us back!
How can Gas come from the South yet most of the Power plants in the South dont have Gas to Power themselves but all the President wants to od is divert that Gas in a 614Km Pipeline to Kano, via kaduna? OBJ was last in government in 2007, this is 2020, and there are no laws preventing a state from generating, transmitting and distributing electricity to its people. Nigerian should hold their useless governors to account. No law prevents state govts from generating power – Fashola
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has said there is nothing in the power sector regulations or law that prohibits state governments from generating, transmitting and distributing their own electricity.

okpalaAnambra: Is it that they don't have workers who monitor when the gases will finish or people don't pay their bills any longer, what is it with them that they keep repeating themselves on this poor supply which many countries have achieved more than a century ago
As far as I'm concerned Nigeria should be recolonised...this time around without the option of getting independence BC it can't function on its own I doubt the West will want to recolonise Nigeria, but it will be prudent to employ foreigners from advance countries to man our ministries and government agencies. In any civilised country the minister for power and GM of TCN would have been sacked for incompetence, but how can the president sack incompetent officials when he is the Minister of Petroleum that cannot supply the gas or fixed the refineries after 5 years on the jobs. Imagine a country of 200 million people with 13000 MW generation capacity, that can only transmit 7000MW and distribute 3000MW. South Africa with a population of 60 million generates 54000MW and are still suffering extreme power outages. |

Kudos to the Igbo's of Nweni. The Igbo's should copy the Ethiopia development model for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. When the world bank refuse to grant the Ethiopian govt loans to fund the dam for fear of antagonising Egypt. The Ethiopian developed a self-development model to raise the funding by issuing bonds to Ethiopian at home and aboard, today the Dam is 70% completed with the major construction aspect of the dam completed. There are over a million Igbo's in the diaspora, a campaign to raise bonds to build gas turbine power plants across the South East is a great possibility, this is where Peter Obi and Kingsley Moghalu can make a difference they have the intellectual capability and trustworthiness to engage Igbo's across the world. Nigeria will soon be in recession with the price of oil about to collapse to under £30 per barrel, the potential to fund the government debt repayment is about to push Nigeria over the edge. The Ethiopian government has stated that it intends to fund the entire cost of the dam by itself in order to prevent relying on foreign countries who may be brought under pressure by Egypt to withdraw their support. Ethiopia has issued a bond targeted at Ethiopians in the country and abroad to that end.[15] The turbines and associated electrical equipment of the hydropower plants costing about US$1.8 billion are reportedly financed by Chinese banks. This would leave US$3 billion to be financed by the Ethiopian government through other means.[28] The estimated US$4.8 billion construction cost, apparently excluding the cost of power transmission lines, corresponds to about 5% of Ethiopia's gross domestic product of US$87 billion in 2017. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Ethiopian_Renaissance_Dam |

Witcher: Gen. Sani Abacha Was Largely Misunderstood
Indeed, Gen. Abacha never had the time to fulfill his own possibilities, which is why his memory haunts so many of us now. Because he wanted to get things done; because he was often impatient and combative; because he felt simply and cared deeply, he made his share of mistakes, and enemies.
Abacha was to Nigeria what Charles de Gaule was to France: a man with military background but, who, ironically, brought uncommon composure and dignity to statecraft. This is not to say that military personnel possess exceptional leadership qualities. The Joke of the century
But because he was maligned and castigated by a section (Lagos/Ibadan axis) of the Nigerian Press due largely to political considerations, he became the most misunderstood of Nigerian leaders.
Could Abacha have built mansions, bought limousines, owned oil wells and own universities while in power? The answer to this poser is a loud NO! Why waste his time building mansions and universities when he can create offshore accounts and transfer the country commonwealth or should I say oil wealth
In 1996, Gen Abacha created a number of new states to give some marginalised people a sense of belonging: Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Gombe, Nasarawa and Zamfara. Abacha made the people more marginalised, the following six states sit at the bottom of the economic charts
What people now mischievously refer to as “the Abacha loot” was the money the country kept in foreign banks deliberately to ward off the plot by the foreign powers to block our foreign reserve. Kai this man think that we are trained in Almajiri school

Jonathan's government could steal a triple of Abacha's if God hadn't sent Buhari to oust him
Al-mustapha wants us to believe that the monies moved belonged to government and for government purposes.
Jonathan's government did exactly the same thing. For example, the Malabu oil deal. Despite the fact that Malabu oil deal was related to Abacha, wasn't it Jonathan that went ahead to run the scam deal using federal government account?
When Dasuki and Jonathan were sharing the $2 billion arms deal, did Olisa metuh and the rest not say it was National assignment, so they didn't need to know the source of the loot.
So what's the difference between Jonathan and Abacha and Obasanjo and Abdusalam ? The difference is one is a dead thief and the remaining three-plus Buhari are living thieves. Any sain man that Abacha offshore was used as Nigeria foriegn CBN need their head examine. |

It is a cheaper and risk-free option, as you only pay for the courses that you intend to do. Even if you don't complete the MSC you will have certification covering the subjects that you studied and you have an option to select a subject that is in demand in the modern industry. I will suggest that you do your own research. : https://www.coursera.org/ and https://www.edx.org/In my opinion, unless you intend to be an academic, universities degrees are overrated, time-consuming and expensive in the modern era. Gnaeusmagnus: Hmm
To everyone grumbling about how the Senate is a rubber stamp and how we are taking loans...
Let me tell you guys a cold and hard truth.
Nigeria is broke, has always been broke, and is going to continue to be broke.
1.Oil right now is 45 dollars per barrel. We need it at $140 per barrel. In 2012...we needed it at $120 per barrel. That's our breakeven price.
2.So as a result, we are not breaking even. We are not even making enough money to sustain the budget....
3.For those of you that say GEJ should have saved...even if he saved, at best we would have reached $100billion, and by now, most of those savings would have been gone because the oil prices since 2014 cannot sustain us.
4.If we don't take loans, the economic situation would be worse. As in, most Nigerians won't have been paid salaries for years. And essential prices would be at sky high prices.
5.If you want Nigeria to develop, you have to hold your leaders to account. You have to remove subsides, so that we can save money and attract investment and jobs. We have to end useless projects like N-power. We have to cut the bloated civil service and the National assembly, and the cost of governance. We have to spend more on inudstrial output and less on importing stuff.
In other words, leave oil and become industrial. Taking loans to build railways in Abuja, expand the Ibadan -Kano rail network of digital transform NTA will not improve Nigeria, infrastructure are liabilities, Nigeria needs to invest the loans to generate revenues to fund security, infrastructures and development. Invest the loans into PPP programmes to fix the government-owned refineries, building new modern steel plants, develop gold and iron mines and mechanise agriculture. |
