It's in Nigeria that your having an elective or appointed office automatically guarantees you the kind of wealth acquired only by top movie and sports stars in the western world.[/quotei] is he the only elected official in Nigeria,he must have other sources, since he has never held an executive position

PoliticsRe: Garba Shehu: Successive Governments Lacked Courage To Remove Fuel Subsidy by surgical: 8:11am On Sep 07, 2020
kikero:
Yes it is. So long as PPRA is setting the price it is there.

Though, personally, speaking as someone who has believed that subsidy should have been gone since 2011, when my mind got changed on the issue, it is good if fuel goes to 200 and above

Reason being dangote refinery. Dangote needs to pay the loans he took to build that refinery plus pay its maintenance costs. I doubt he can do that selling fuel at 97 per liter, when it may cost him 140 or more to produce it.

At least, eventually we would have more refineries come on stream, and fuel prices will drop
like cement price, like sugar prices or flour prices, dangote is a dangerous monopolist,he will choke Nigerians with cut throat prices, that is his trademark, nigeria salvation does not lie in his hands

I still don't understand the concept of this fuel subsidy... When u give marketers freedom to fix price, wunt they misuse their power?

Wait sef. Who are the marketers sef? Can't fg market their thing, must they employ marketers to advertise fuel..

Who advertise fuel?

Fuel just be like garri wey no need advertisement na

IPhone 6s plus 64gb for grab.. Lagos
subsidy is buying what you have at home from abroad, with the abroad seller adding a margin of profit, you pay freight, pay insurance, pay port charges, pay taxes, add admin cost, add marketers charges, these unnecessary charges is what they want Nigerians to pay , that they are calling subsidies including cost of their corruption

kikero:
You cannot produce power at 53 naira per kwh and sell it at 31 naira per kWh

With government wasting 1 trillion naira, part of which comes from loans and grants to make up the 22 naira per kWh.

The power sector has been running at a loss since privatisation. It's the reason why we don't have sufficient light, because the sector is not earning sufficient money to fix things

Matters are made worse by discos not providing meters, and people not paying their bills.
my friend shut up, the government want Nigeria to pay for its ineptitude all the time, this government is bad for not accepting responsibility, you are flaring gas (wastage) instead of harnessing it, and you want Nigerian to pay premium prices
You made wrong calls in your investment in the power sector, you want Nigerians to pay for it
I know they ve unleashed you guys to do damage control,we are no fools
This yeye government is over stretching it's luck,i hope it doesn't regret it
PoliticsRe: Gani Adams Urges FG, NASS To Reverse Fuel Price, Electricity Tariff by surgical: 6:28am On Sep 04, 2020
kikero:
The problem is, we can't reverse the fuel price increase.

In fact, government would do well to remove fuel and power subsides completely

Yes, we would pay 60 naira per kWh for power and 200 naira for fuel. Yes, we would suffer

But our oil companies and power companies would finally have the cash and investment to pay for much needed improvements

Fourteen years ago, people were calling on the government to reduce GSM prices. Government said no. GSM companies continued to exploit us, and they used the money to build the strong it network and create jobs, and yes, the price of SIM went down from 10000 to less than 1000 today

If we deregulate now, we save over 2 trillion naira if not more annually. Money that can be used for education and other things, and would enable us get some jobs.

We should have deregulated in 2012. Instead Nigerians said no. Now , having refused to face the issue for 8 years, Covid has forced us to face the facts.

If we want a better economy, more jobs, more investment, and so on, we must deregulate.

Or we keep taking loans. Oil is at 40 dollars per barrel. We need it at 139 dollars per barrel before we have a sustainable budget.
your mumu no be here, except You are deceiving your self, nobody takes this your line of argument serious again,it is worn out, nigerians sees as it is lies
Besides you are comparing apples and oranges
This government lacks capacity and will to move this country forward. This government is just causing hardship for Nigerians deliberately, while a sensible government work deliberately to bring it's people out of hardship
In other climes serious governments are giving palliatives and policies to alleviate effect of covid, your government is increasing exchange rate, fuel prices, electricity tariff, stamp duties at the same time, which will result in inflation in an economy that is already down, only a dumb government will act this way
Besides this is the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria

Devaluing the Naira is more like 419,and part of the resolve of the present government to deeply punish Nigerians, their reasons I don't know
Because the primary responsibility of the government is the security and welfare of the people,so for the government to be deliberately punishing his citizens, seems very weird to me
No sound economics support this madness

First off they are building more modular refineries, all four NNPC refineries have been signed off to a private body to maintain produce and give Nigeria their cut ....Google it.....they start running next year.....also do you know how much of Nigeria money in Dangotes refinery, the fertilizer pl as nt is done and will be running production early next year meaning no more important of fertilizer and more yield in the farms..it was announced yesterday ..by the time the crude refining is fully functional mid next year you will see a change in price and a rise in Naira valuation.
The only thing that I agree with here is that once we stop importation of petroleum products, our currency will appreciate
The other points are not valid, with the people depending on dangote petrol, they will pay cut throat prices,he has done it severally, like in cement, sugar, etc

They removed part of the subsidy not all of it.....don't forget we import this product at the momment.....if it were all removed we will probably be buying it at 8cents per liter....which would be almost 400 at the moment.
oga why are they still importing after a promise of building refineries to end importation during their campaign
