PoliticsRe: Further Petrol Price Hike Likely, Marketers Warn Nigerians by surgical: 11:44am On Sep 12, 2020
Macphenson:
I said this when Buhari removed the subsidy some months ago during the lock down.

Nigerians did not feel the impact because price of oil was very low then. Now economies are opening up and oil price is gradually bouncing back, so as the price of oil increases, so will the price of petrol increase as well.

There is every possibility that we may buy fuel for #200 per litre before the year runs out.

The truth is subsidy is not sustainable. It should go, my annoyance is the deciet and propaganda of APC when Jonathan wanted to remove the subsidy fully.

Tinubu led his band of confused elments and we're ignorantly making noise in Lagos , calling Jonathan all sorts of names, only for the hypocritical, selfish, greedy and deceitful entity to turn around when Buhari took over to say subsidy must go. What a lying hypocrite, So much for a presidential aspirant.

If APC allowed Jonathan to remove subsidy fully then without branding it an anti people policy, probably by now many more refineries would have sprang up in the country as it's going to attract investors in that angle, Nigerians and Nigeria were even in a better position to handle the shock and the aftermath then, as the economy is far better then than what we have today.

This is a wrong time to remove the subsidy as Nigeria is just recovering from the COVID 19 shock on our economy, government should be handing out palliatives not increasing the suffering of the people.

For the change chanters and "sophisticated people", I hope una eye Don clear now.

We are all in this mess together.

I feel very bad when people talk about subsidy,we must always toe the line of argument of the government ,we should allow only them to be talking about subsidy while we behave as if we don't know what subsidy is
We should be talking about buying made in Nigeria products and at appropriate prices,if the government goes elsewhere to get fuel that is the government problem it can't pass the cost
They have been elected to do a job, which include Prudent management of resources, not the waste of petroleum importation
Petroleum products importation is the fault and inefficiency of government,we should not bear the brunt

I'm sure we still had some of these problems during the PDP administration.

Both APC and PDP are the same.

They are not the same, life was much easier during the last regime you know it and Nigerians know it and are saying it loud, even people from the President's area

As for looting he'll soon loot Nigeria out of the map of the world & sell us to China through borrowing.
what would be left for ECOWAS,where he is borrowing rice, beans and corn, how will they recover their grains,or are you not aware your government is also borrowing food after claiming self sufficiency in rice production as a gain of border closure.

What a mess!

Plunging the future of Nigeria into more debts, this is crazy!

I do not only have a problem with borrowing to fund capital projects, are these funds being used judiciously by the ministries?

Even if Buhari is claiming "holier than thou", I hope the ministries and other agencies are not siphoning funds like NDDC did.

Why should we keep quiet over a mans' incompetence because we wanted another lukewarm president out, when both are birds of a feather.

We must start choosing shrewd Nigerians, I mean technocrats that can save us from this mess we have plunged into.

Say no to imposing of a thief under the guise of zoning, a move that is destined to drag us into dirtier mud.

I don't know much but one thing I do know is that Buhari has been a monumental failure.

He has borrowed more than any regime in history,to the extent of borrowing rice, beans, and corn from ECOWAS after closing borders and claiming self sufficiency in rice
Tax Nigerians more than any government
Refused to pay subsidy sells petrol higher than any regime
All these are sources of funds too aside income from crude
The basic problem with buhari is that he just came to fulfill the ambition to rule not to do the job, even though he is clueless and incompetent,he could have made up with a sound team
But good governance is not his goal
PoliticsRe: FG Begins Full Deregulation, Discards Petrol Price Band by surgical: 10:22pm On Sep 08, 2020
OdumegwuOjukwu:
That's the problem, otherwise deregulation is a smart move. Subsidy only benefit a few, and creates avenue for smuggling.

It is because of subsidy that Nigeria has not realized the benefit of an oil producing nation. Too much money wasted subsiding consumption and corruption.
This is kindergarten reasoning,if the product is not imported, the issue of subsidy will not arise ,we must produce here, and firm our currency all this is the fault of the government
Secondly in countries where they value their citizens there is one form of subsidy or the other
So it not out of place lf Nigerians enjoy some subsidy don't make it look like a sin, when it is a right

Tell your bro that the government can not keep subsidizing everything because it is unsustainable.

Tariff must align with the cost of generation, distribution and transmission, if not, investors won't invest in the power sector because they can not recoup their investments or make ends meet.

I blame the government for shielding Nigerians from these obvious realities for decades, but better late than never because it is unsustainable.

We are broke and we can not keep borrowing to fund subsidies and recurrent expenditures. doing so means bankruptcy.
same shit all the time, which investor, you think we are as dumb as you guys, like take the price to ten times what it is now,no investor will come under this regime, cause there are other determinants of FDI, the government is just using Nigerians for experiment.

This is the reason this party can never solve Nigeria problems, even if you give them 100years it is populated by daft people both leaders and followers, look at the flawed argument by a supposed spokes person of the government
Nigeria has comparative advantage in oil over most of the countries
In dollar term it is cheaper in some of these countries because their currency is stronger
So this government has not done us any favours, they have priced the products appropriately according to the current international oil prices and at the current devalued exchange rate while adding some margin
The luck they have is that Nigerians are not interested in the source of their problem before looking for solutions, otherwise they would have started from this corrupt and inept government

https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/why-nigeria-cant-stop-borrowing-ahmed-finance-minister/%3famp=1

When did you start subsidising electricity? Thought your government said "Nigeria have not borrowed enough" and "Nigeria can not stop borrowing"? So you know understand that it's economically irresponsible to continue borrowing yet have long dragged this nation into chronic indebtedness? Debt servicing is not debt payment.

So after saying subsidy is a fraud, yet you continued to pay same for years. After promising one year one refinery but failed to fulfil same, the NNPC is just churning out debts as none of the existing refineries are functioning optimally despite the huge TAM & other overhead costs. No diversification from oil economy as billions are wasted prospecting for an illusive oil up north.Just cluelessness & incompetency on display.
my brother to shock you the man is not borrowing only money,he has started borrowing grains, rice, beans, corn, from ECOWAS
Despite his claim that border closure has made Nigeria self sufficient in rice
The man is simply a disaster.

Listen to this crooked, fake, lying, fraudulent and identity thief fake pastor, is he talking about the economy that they wrecked when they declared austerity measures when oil was selling for $77/barrel or the one they were borrowing hundreds of billions every month to pay workers salary?

Loot at the date in red, just days before handing over to PMB, they borrowed to pay salary till their last days in office, they didn't even bother to release 1 kobo to fund capital projects, I repeat, not even 1 kobo for capital projects.

So, if the economy was so good, why borrow billions every month to pay salary and not 1 single kobo to fund 1 inch of road or 1 single classroom?

If the economy was so good, why declare austerity measure as far back as 2014.

These clowns really think we have amnesia and we did not witness their looting is not stealing economy on the brink they left. behind, even countless abandoned projects.
