Onegai: Yoruba kings don't beg, it's taboo. From experience, they don't even come out until everyone else has begged and dobaled at the engagement.
Bini bride price is N24. Bini brides are not supposed to be showing their teeth at their wedding. A proper Bini bride would cover her mouth with a handkerchief. No be small thing o. Culture can be ridiculous sha. |

dabossman: My point is most of you would be in the same age range. Most people start sec school between ages 10-13. Most finish between 15-18. So you can't be say 30 now and most of your mates will be 24. That would be an exception, not the norm.
Chioma Akportha is celebrating her 36th birthday and already some people are saying she is much older. Again, are all Nigerians liars? Are you older than the age you claim? I agree that schoolmates are mostly withing the same age range and one can be in the same age range with people of 4 years difference, no?. I never argued Adaeze being in the same age range as the girl I quoted, I just doubted her being 25. I have no issues with chioma's age and don't know the reasons why some who do, do, therefore, I can't speak for them. No, I am not older than I say now, but who knows? In this country, I just might need a new age. |

daretodiffer: Stupid people.
This is what a law would prevent. Imagine someone sending you out of 'his house'. If she had her own home, he wouldn't do what he did. It's actually both their house but this is Nigeria and he is obviously physically stronger than her, to be able to throw her out. But we mustn't forget that this woman didn't act right, not for a woman who gives a hoot about her hubby/ marriage, if she doesn't then that's a different case. She can always come home should they work it out, I'm actually impressed he didn't pummel her before throwing her out, like many are known to do. |

dominique: some women are the architects of their own problems. I read a very similar case on a page I follow on Facebook. She told her husband about the three day program, the husband warned not to. She told her husband that her pastor insists she must be there (who holds more importance in your life? husband or pastor?). She disobeyed by the time she returned, met her things outside with the locks changed (ironically she went for the 'ori oke' prayer to seek God's intervention in her failing marriage). Nobody could get him to take her back, not even the pastor. Now she's crying and wailing that her husband is now flaunting a new wife in the same church and the same pastor is giving his blessing. Ngwanu just negodu. |

Rukkydelta: Like the woman na dope.....the so called husband for no dey yarn all this rubbish..............One reason why a woman should be independent, I'll never depend on a man for means of livelihood I don't think independence has that much to do with it. She outrightly disrespected her hubby and a good woman will not do that, the marriage seems like one with a crack already anyways. |

I guess it's easier to blame it on the poor and defenceless maid.

The rate at which bad things are happening and bad news ongoing everyday is alarming.
The truth is it will only get worse , it won't stop; the Bible said so.
Only those who have Jesus have protection in these very dangerous and lethal times...
I'm not talking about just going to Church; I'm talking about having personal relationship with him and living a righteous life.
Thanks Why can't you just bid them farewell and move on? Which other Jesus again? The one that couldn't protect these seminarians? Or you know that the weren't living righteous lives nor had a personal relationship with the christ? Your comment is very insensitive and an insult to the memories of these young men. |

zicoraads: Sweetcocoa and MadCow1...and the rest of the 'pack' stop forming sophistication for us. This practice is alien to this side of the world hence the lack of it's understanding by most people on this thread. Calling people who don't understand the practice ignorant shows y'all are the ignorant ones.
There are certain traditional practices that I wouldn't expect a Briton to understand. Not knowing it doesn't mean ignorance, it only means it is alien to him.
Africans and inferiority complex! See your life? What do you think is the meaning of ignorance? Does not understanding the tradition, justify all the nonsense spewed at the couple/tradition? Why not ask questions? And you are mad cos those people were called ignorant, you are the most ignorant of all. Kai! The people I have to deal with on NL. |

This here is the best post for me.."forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"...some hurts can be extremely difficult and unfair to forgive..but we don't forgive because the world wants us to,we forgive for our own sake and inner peace..you are hurt and angry, and for good reasons, but for how long will you let another being hold sway over your peace? We have such a limited time on this earth, why spend it brooding over the hurt your loved ones caused you? Yea right, forgive those who trespass against us indeed. Why haven't god and Satan mended fences then?abegi. |

Do you even know if your Dad had remained adamant, not kicking you out the woman might have poisoned yyou guys or used you and abused yo right to care as a child so in so, you might not even get to smell high school less college?
What if your morally lax Dad, had abused one of thou lots sexually if he hadn't let you go?
I'm not saying you should forgive him because He deserves it, but at least, show some little appreciation to fate (if you believe in that) for the journey so farr. Many others are out there on the streets forcing ordinary smile cos they're utter misery just cos they haven't ever had the nurturing support of a parent. You had it ! let's say you cheated with about 3 different men and your man finds out and slaps you, during confrontation, would you leave him or apologise and leave him or just stick to him I know you didn't ask me but, why should he slap me cos I was cheating? (i don't condone cheating but we are assuming) He has no right whatsoever to hit me for cheating, if I'm a cheat, he's better off without me anyways, so why need a cheat to stay? |
