Eyop: They are generally not tribalistic and that's why they keep dying like fowls in outside marriages because they see them as an outsider. I also have relatives that married outside akwa-ibom and after years of marriage, they regret going into marriage in another state. Please let's drop this argument. I'm about to throw up. Cheers! |
PAGAN 9JA:Lol so you have changed mind you no longer advocating for culture ba? Lol! Anyway me thinks religion and tribe walks hand in hand. In fact, tribalism is more dangerous than religious sentiments because there are over 200 tribes in Nigeria while there are just two official religions in Nigeria. I don't need to start explaining further.... |
kettykin: Fair play , Equity and justice will unite and integrate Nigeria more than NYSC , Inter tribal / inter religious marriages if people like Obasanjo who is known to have married stellah from Edo state and whose son recently married from Ebonyi state ,harbours the kind of bigoted hatred he has for Nigerians from the Niger Delta and the East then inter tribal marriage is simply waste of time.Of course there will still be few bad ones, but if more people inter-marry, it will definitely reduce tribalism. |
chairman: if america had as many ethnic groups and languages as nig they would have been worse than nig, just look at what they did to the indians and the blacks and even the italians. There are way too many different ppl in nig and they rightly see themselves as such, so the problem is not the ppl but those who lumped them together and those forcing them to stay together, your nysc have not achieved anything in terms of unity we all know it and anybody who marries anybody from any part of the earth is supposed to love their spouse and their family no matter whichever part of the earth they married from and not because of their tribeHey, all that was in the past. Today, racial discrimination is only as bad as you allow it. Americans are together, that is why they are still the strongest country in the world. The second America breaks up is the very second they will cease to retain the number one spot. There is power in unity. Even their motto is about unity. America sure has their own share of inner problems, but when it's time to face the world, blacks, whites, republicans, democrats, gays, straights, Afro, European, Asian Americans all speak up in ONE voice and so WHATEVER they have to do to protect their territory. It's as important as the blood that flows through their veins. That's what Afam4eva is trying to explain to you. |
Eyop: So are you trying to tell me that in the whole of Akwabasi-Ibom state that i cannot get an akwa-ibom lady that will bear me beautiful kids, build my home, manage my resources, cook for me,listen to me when i need someone, advice me when i need advice, pray for me,support me, and do other intimate and great stuff with me? My sister it's only an Akwa-ibom lady that can do that for me and i don't need to cross river niger all in the name of marrying a lady. So if you have been able to get that from outside tribe, good and fine for you but like i said earlier on,i am speaking for myself and not for anyone. If it will take me 5yrs to get that special lady then it's worth waiting.Akwa-Ibomites/Cross Riverans and even South-southerners are generally not tribalistic. (All my cousins/sisters are married outside Akwa-Ibom) but the few ones who are are so irritatingly disgustingly tribalistic that they don't even consider Cross River as their sister state! Heck! Most tribalistic Akwa-Ibomites do not even consider other tribes in Akwa-Ibom as their brothers and sisters. Tribalistic Ibibios feel superior to other tribes in Akwa-ibom and other tribes do not like Ibibios. Wtf is that ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ??So if found a lovely Idoma or Urhobo girl who would love you whether you have 1 naira or N1B you won't marry her simpls because she's not Ibibio but yould rather wait till for another 5-10 yrs until you find an Ibibio girl? Please tell me how that sounds even in your own ears ![]() ?? |
PAGAN 9JA:Choi! Lowest divorce gini? Hehehehehehe Should I start calling names of Yoruba stars that have divorced? I know many Akwa-Ibom men married to Akwa-Ibom women that sleep around like say tomorrow no dey. Mbok, many marriages today are just existing on paper only. Pls you tribalists should learn to think outside the box sometimes, it could save your a.s.s someday! |
Eyop: I never stated that speaking same language makes marriages work but to me it's best to understand a particular culture, language, etc before crossing your boundary to talk about marriage. And how the heck does a person's culture make love to you, bear you beautiful kids, build your home, manage your resources, cook for you, listen to you when you need someone, advice you when you need advise, pray for you, support you, and do other intimate and great stuff with you. Or are you trying to say that only an Ibibio/Akwa-Ibom woman can offer you all that ![]() Smh |
Eyop: Well said but na your own story be that. I personally as an Ibibio man cannot marry from a tribe that i do not understand their culture, language, etc and so are others. If marrying from another tribe goes down well with an individual all in the name of love, then good and fine for such an individual but for me i love with my head and not my heart.Trust me hon, you ain't loving with/using your head either cos you would have known that merely speaking the same language does NOT make a marriage work. |
Inter-ethnic marriages all the way! If at least 40% of marriages are inter-ethnic, that will automatically solve the disgusting tribal issues we have in the country which I strongly believe is the root cause of Nigeria's problems! Before the Igbo man insults or victimizes the Yoruba man simply because of tribe, he'd remember that his own mother's father or mother is Yoruba. That will make him shut his trap. Before the Hausa/fulani man thinks of stabbing an Igbo man, he'd remember that his father's mother or father is Igbo. That will automatically clear his madness! So the cycle goes.... After we have achieved this, the NYSC scheme could then become more enjoyable and useful to all. Yours sincerly is Akwa-Ibom/Cross River but marrying someone far from my region. God bless Nigeria. |
Sniper4real: Dis woman get brain, just registered and had a post dat reached fp, Kudos to u. I hail u. I 1da if d post real sefBia, is it only how to make front page that you people care about? Me I don't understand some people NL people again o! Wallahi! "First to comment......" "Front page......" Ogini!? Kilode? Please what else do you outside internet surfing? |
See how people are lamenting over the OP being in a polygamous marriage. Lol! Most of us women are sharing our men one way or the other! That's the painful reality. The only thing about polygamy is that it's in your face. I don't look down on women who choose to marry polygamous men. I will just advice that the man must be mature enough to be able to handle his women well and also she must check the behaviour of her co-wives and be sure that the man is not the kind to marry or tolerate troublesome women. He should be able to allow his wives freedom to do business or pursue careers or anything that will make them feel valuable. He should also be mature enough to respect his wives and not make other wives feel too bad if he has a favourite wife (they always have favourites!) by compensating them with other things. Of course he needs to be rich too. As in rich! Nothing like potentials here o o! Unless you are the first wife. Why suffer with a man when you won't be the only one to enjoy the fruits later? Mtcheeew. The OP didn't check for all these and that why she's in this mess now. Sorry my dear. But from the looks of things, you need a divorce..... |
Honestly, I'm quite suprised that this issue is being termed as being debateable because the answer is so obvious. This is just like arguing with someone that Ibadan is more commercial than Lagos! Will you bother wasting your time arguing about something so obvious?? People can argue sha. Just to show us say dem sabi. Even to the extent of copying and pasting stuff they don't even know where they picked from! Smh. Happy arguing o! Cheers! |
GustavoFring: Your opening statement is a gross indictment of your lack of knowledge and paucity of informationLike you have indirectly confimed, the highest Uche can go to being the prime minister is by being "tipped"! ![]() Look, man, just drop it ok, if you are a hard working guy in the U.K, good for you, I respect your determination in trying to get a better life for yourself. It doesn't mean you should start overbloating things at your end or undermining things at other people's end just to convince yourself that you are in the right place! |
LMAO at the people arguing here so tey dem dey copy and paste things they know nada about! ![]() Obviously the people speaking in favour of U.K are Nigerians living in denial in the U.K. There are sooooo many of them like that there. They like to put up the "we are living the life" attitude for us over here, only for you to go there and see things for yourself! Lol! Abeg! The coloured people having things good in the U.K are either full citizens or rich people who spend good money there! If you wanna live in the U.K as a non-citizen. OYO l'o wa! But you can have a pretty decent life in the U.S as an average black/coloured person without citizenship IF you work hard enough. America is a place that rewards hard work, focus, and dexterity. Yea, there are always still the bad as.s racists there who may want to bully you, BUT that's where it ends. Aint nobody stopping your black as.s from being the president if you show them what stuff you've got up there! In the U.S, Look at the biggest names in the sports and entertainment and entertainment industries, blacks have dominated there! Now they are slowly taking over politics and education. But unlike the U.K, una go wait taya for a black prime minister o! And who was that joker who said one Umma is being tipped for prime minister? I'd like to know what kind of bed he sleeps on so I can buy it. I need to have good dreams! Lol! |
It happens all the time. ZIs and LIs are always giving threats during the Christmas/New year season. In my time, 2010. They said there will be a zonal meeting (or something like that) on the 24th of dec. For where? By the 20th of dec there were no Christian corpers left in Kaduna! We came back in January and nothing happened. Even our January clearance (like other months) lasted until the 10th. |
skydeep: You shouldnt have taken her post seriously. Oh well! Just be cool.Merry Christmas dear. |
lorretta u: Yea you're right Of course. One thing I don't do is pretend to be who I'm not. So sometimes when I speak my mind, folks like that Lordlexyy begin to get heart-attack. His definition of a respectful women is one who doesn't have a mind of her own but let's him shove his opinion down her throat.Like I was trying to explain to madam Skydeep, not everybody can or should like your posts all the time. If so, then something IS wrong with you or should I say you are just not being yourself. Keep it up babes! |
skydeep: Stop the beefing. Allow people to express how they feel about someone. If you were the one they described as ''stainless'', you would be blushing. Then you don't know jack about me. Read what I told someone earlier who said she was going to try to "live up to her new reputation on NL" |
Joavid: Egba girl!Becareful of monikers who appear too stainless and perfect. NOBODY is perefect or stainless. |
lorretta u: I keep getting mentioned in threads like this. Aww so sweet. I guess I've a reputation to live up to now. Lol.Naaa, keep being yourself and don't think you need to appear perfect all the time. We are all humans and we are all entitiled to our "off days" ![]() |
Idowuogbo: Lmao! Lemonade!!!! U hen? U need Jesus.U need Jesus of okrika ![]() |
Idowuogbo: Lmao! Lemonade!!!! U hen? U need Jesus.U need Jesus of okrika ![]() |
Agu nnewi: Idowu is cool and hilarious, forget her online personality, people like her tends to be the coolest in real life.I don't know about her offline personality. But here on NL I'd rather face a hundred Idowuogbos than one Itsmodella. @DN some of the people you quoted here are quite inconsistent in their online behaviours cos they select who they want to be nice to. |
Thanks for the recognition DN ![]() |
koolpapa: I think is your sister that encourage her husband to have more kids. koolpapa: I think is your sister that encourage her husband to have more kids. After my sister had her first two kids, during the naming of her 2nd child, she was like "whew! I have finally completed my job of giving birth" (she was happy he had one boy and one girl and was sure her hubby will be ok with that) Her hubby looked at her like "says who??" I laff fall from my chair ![]() |
chronique:Lol! |
emma bowin: NO NO NO. The binis are not afraid of anybody. They are peace loving and hospitable people. Unlike many other tribes, the binis think with their heads and not their nose. They know when to act and when not to. Am afraid,if you are looking to incite the binis against the calabars, then its a failed mission.Again,if you are looking for tribal war,you know the tribes to incite or the threads to visit, certainly, not the binis and not for this trivial issue. That moment when you desperately wish there was a hug button on NL...... I would have given you a thousand hugs mehn! high five! I'm sooooooooooo impressed! Your Benin swag is just oozing from your post and it's somewhat sexy ![]() I seriously doubt that the two guys claiming to be Bini here picking quarrel with me are from Benin because the Binis I know are not like that AT ALL |
prinsays k: My married bf spoils me silly.I love him even his wife knows am d unseen guest in d family. You get mind o! |
daroz: Then you are missing.Lovely wife. If you are both from Edo state, then you will be the first new generation couple I have heard of that are both Edo! The Mercy Johnson, Ini Edo, Stephanie and the rest of them you are referring to are they from Edo state? I'm not even saying it's bad that you don't marry yourselves, In fact I think it shows how liberal and untribalistic you guys are which is a good thing for this country. Please next time when you read posts try to properly understand what the writer is trying to convey before jumping to conclusions and drawing non-existent battle lines ok? |
daroz: @op, if you think Bini men luv large family, what will you say about a typical urhobo man or an Hausa man? osigiepurr: Hey, what's ur business counting and monitoring d number of kids innocent couples are having in their matrimonial homes?......it truly shows ur jobless and insensitive towards the affairs of other people. Besides, u are still yet to marry, pple like u may end up not getting a husband or even having kids of ur own...Oba gha tokpere! You guys really need to take a chill pill really. If I were making fun of Edo people then that's a different thing. I'm only doing a research on what I have noticed! Your fellow Binis here are taking it cool and even providing historical reasons for it. But you guys prefer to fight non-existing battles. Or maybe you just don't comprehend what I'm trying to say here. When I say large families I don't mean polygamy ooooooo! I mean the need to have up to 6-10 kids from just one wife. If it's polygamy then I would have mentioned the Urhobos as the perfect case study! Seun should consider adding some kind of app which can enable people understand posts in their native language since English is so difficult these days.... ![]() |
jice: How this matter take concern you now. Lazy girl. You nor wan born plenty so that you go dey do sisi at 60. ![]() |
xp17: bini men knows how to Spend money on women, so more women would not mind participating in a bini man's benevolence, hence bini men find it uncontrollable to have one lady. (many ladies, many children) . Real bini men don't patronize d use of condom.Ehen! I v always known they just don't like condoms! lol! But even most of the ones with one wife have at least 5 kids. So it's not just because they marry many wives. |
