PoliticsRe: Finally Revealed!! Jonathan Is Boko Haram by Sweetlemon(f): 2:07pm On Jul 03, 2014
Why is NL now boring?

Reason is just too obvious. Anything you say against oga Jonathan is immediately removed and blamed on "data loss" so as you can see, it's mostly pro-Jonathans that have remained active here.

Politics section now bores the hell outta me.

If una like ban me oooooo.
PoliticsRe: Factors Behind APC Popularity Decline by Sweetlemon(f): 1:05pm On Jul 03, 2014
So just because PDP won elections in Ekiti, a freelance State with no particular party followership, (both PDP and APC has had their fair shares of power in Ekiti) No party has strong hold in Ekiti. APC is now "declining"? You wish!

Wait till PDP wins Osun or Lagos before you start beating your chests.

Orlando Owoh: You're lying. Give me the name of that Yoruba that claims Itsekiri.
What I mean by claim is that the Yorubas say that Ishekiris, Igalas, etc are Yorubas. Not that the Yorubas say that they are Ishekiris.

okpara ugo: Dear I said below 30 years old, after graduation, after NYSC, how many ladies below 30 have a decent job ? I don't mean teaching job of N15, 000 or office clerk of N10, 000.

Let's not mention business because I know not up to 5% of Nigerian ladies below 30 are running a decent business with a valid shop address. I don't mean carrying boxers or suits around. I dont mean married ladies who their husbands obviouly opened businesses for. Unless they be helping daddy or mummy run a shop.

Don't ask me to go out, my office is on a federal road and I have two businesses. Still mingle with my former colleagues and undergraduates. I don't know what going out again means.
Like I said you need to go out more often.

Er, the most popular Itsekiri historian I'm conversant with on google scholar is one Prof. Itse Sagay. How about go read his scholarships about Itsekiri history?
If you really read those books I'm sure you would have taken note of the correct spelling of Ishekiri by now.

Odenigbo Aroli: You don't sound very intelligent ;There are Igbo groups scattered all over south south and Igbo influence went as far as Uhrobo, Igala,Ekoi,Idoma,Ikwerre and even Bini. We don't claim who isn't our brethren. And by the way, what Igbo business on this thread? ? Respect yourself!
That is why Biafra wants to add SS States plus Ondo and Benue to their county ba?

shymexx: I've never even seen any Yoruba person claim Igala - never.

As for Itsekiri's, they always claim Yoruba. Go check all the great Itsekiri people and how close they were with everything Yoruba. Or do you want me to start citing names?

How about Itsekiri history and how most of the Itsekiri households/clans still maintain their ancestral links to the Yoruba's? Ugborodo? Omadino? etc.. The list is endless.

We don't even need anyone, to be honest...we've got everything we need as a people.

And, it was Jekri before it became Ijekiri - and whatever it's called now.

shymexx: Yoruba's aren't claiming Edo's, we're two distinct groups. This is just to set the records straight based on historical facts, on how the Benin royalty has its origins in Ife. Ife needs to be celebrated. People can't just re-write history based on revisionism to make themselves feel better. you have to always give credits where it's due. Ancient Greeks gave all credit for their civilisation to the ancient Egyptians. And Europe will always credit a large chunk of western civilisation to the Romans. Just as Africa will always be the cradle of mankind. So, Benin folks also need to give Ife its just due.

Itsekiri's for example are mostly Yoruba's, how many Yoruba's do you see claiming them? However, most Itsekiri's scholastic researches on the web by Itsekiri academics always claim Yoruba ancestry, but Yoruba's don't claim them. Igala speak a Yoruboid language, but have you ever seen any Yoruba person claim Igala folks? We're a strong nation, and we don't need other people. But revisionism isn't a good thing. People need to give credit here it's due...this is African history and we need to tell our story based on FACTS not FICTION.
I understand the first part of your reply but as for the second part all I can say is keep deceiving yourself. Yorubas claim Ishekiris and Igalas every opportunity they get. But the Ishekiris I know will not fail to correct you and proudly tell you that they are Ishekiris and not Yorubas. they are quick to correct the difference btw Omawunmi and Omowunmi, etc. Besides, it is Ishekiri and not Itshekiri.

I have also noticed something else in culture section. People are too sensitive or should I say too eager to show that they are a fountain of knowledge. See insults flying left right and center. shocked on top wetin na?

My dears, slow down. Take it easy. NOBODY knows all of history. Trust me. That's why history books gets revised every now and then. We only learn new things when we admit we don't know it all.

I wasn't circumventing (or whatever you mean) anything. Just saying hard facts most of us would rather deceive ourselves are not true. Can you point at one person who got a good job in a big company after 2007 without connections?

okpara ugo: What percentage of ladies below 30 are earning income in Nigeria ? Maybe 10%

Talking to a lady who you intend marrying and all she bothers to express to you is her desire to run a boutique on your money. Is that her contribution to the bills ?

I know a woman her husband has funded her shop severally yet she is always running it down.
10% indeed! You berra get your nose out of NL and see the real world! That's just one example. There are many women willing to foot bills these days. You need to go out more often to understand what I'm saying.

Eyop: You dey laugh huh But joke apart, why should a lady be so desperate to get married at the age of 29-32 or even 34? I don't see myself getting married to any girl less than 28 oooh.
Don't blame them. Blame the society that look at them like they have a fundamental problem if they are not married yet.

Why the hell are Yorubas and Igbos so obsessed with claiming SS tribes no matter how much we shout and scream that we are NOT and will NEVER be Yorubas/Igbos?

Redman44: I have read all the posts on this thread and I only have this small contribution to make:

What are the contributions of Nigerian Wives and Ladies to their relationships or marriages?

Why do ladies find it hard to contribute financially to towards the success of their marriages?

These are questions that need answers. Thanks.
Not anymore. Maybe women below 27 years. I know a growing number of women above 29 years willing to foot the bills if only they can just get a husband.

I know a growing number of men looking for such women..........

crudedude: a few questions please,

1. So in other words Jobs are more secure in other many cases except in contrast to a business where one has done his home work well?

2. is it possible to have a job, be able to save for rainy days and/or have a side business?

3. Please explain 'always bounce back'. 'Cause the way I understood it I could also say if one is sacked from a job & has a certain level of experience he/she can always bounce back to a new one soon.

Good morningsmiley
A very good morning to you.

1. You cannot even get a good job without doing your home work well (the needed qualifications, connections) Sorry I don't call any less than 350k salary a good job unless there is a good atmosphere for growth and promotions in that company. Most companies these days lack that due to politics that has steadily crept into the corporate world.

2. Absolutely! I'm not against having jobs at all. I am all for saving to start a business on the side or investments while you have a job (no matter your salary). The advantages of this cannot be over emphasized. Business stimulates your brain and keeps you on your toes. The fear of loosing money and the anticipation of making money will do wonders for your mental abilities, forcing you to think faster than your usual collar job peers. There is nothing like making money for yourself. The amount of zeal you put into your own business cannot be compared to what you put into another man's company. This of course depends on the level of passion/interest you have for the said business. It ultimately improves mental health. Also, when having a business beside a regular job, You will always have something to fall back on in case anything happens to the other. As Warren Buffet advised, never have only one source of income!

3. It is much much much easier to bounce back if a business fails when you have done your homework and learnt the ropes. Your wealth of experience will always come in handy. Bill Gates and co. failed many times while working on many ideas. They've all risked and lost lots of money which would have made them go bankrupt at one point or the other. But their experience, zeal, and their knowledge of the ropes always ensured they bounced back in no time.

Lol! In present day Nigeria, should you loose your job, OYO l' o wa! Only God in his infinite mercies will help you get another one. Unless of course if you know your way around.

Eyop: Sister are you still on this matter? Hmmm you really have the time to explain. It would have been better if the argument was based on passion for business and not that business is not secure.
That's part of what I mean when I talk about doing your home work well.
