crudedude: are businesses more secure and stable?Businesses are more secure only when you've done your home work well. Learn the ropes and even if your business fails, you can always bounce back cos you've mastered your field. |
Phema: That I understand perfectly.Nobody says you shouldn't have your own preference. Not me. I'm only laughing at your naive belief that 9-5 jobs are more secure and stable in this present day Nigeria. |
agonbello: Thanks a lot. I am currently a small starter. I own a small scale groundnut processing factory, a small (broiler) poultry farm, a small scale car-wash centre(which I channel the income to my mum) and currently working on starting a block industry (have to pause on this and wait till after my wedding b4 I fully venture into it ). I think big, very much big. I plan on running at least 20bizneses b4 2020, so help me God.Most businesses start small dear. What matters is determination to succeed with clear laid down goals which you already have. The sky is only your starting point. Let me give you this small, useful advice. Stay off social media as much as possible unless for business purposes. Use the time spent on social media to socialize, meet people that can introduce you to more people/prospective business associates/customers because the life blood of any business is your customers. |
Eyop: You and this manager sefNot just one o! Many! |
agonbello: I know of a woman that sells akara in my locality. I was surprised when I was told she is building her own house. Curiosity led me to ask her about her business. She told me she spends an average of N1,300 daily on raw materials (she actually said: firewood, oil, beans, and other ingredients) and she make an average sales of N3,500 daily. By extension, she earns a monthly income which doubles my monthly salary at my first job after graduation. The most amazing thing is she operates from 7am to about 10am, while I go to work b4 8am, and come back around 4pm.The problem with most graduates is pride. They cannot do these kinds of things after all the years spent in school. But I see no biggie there. After all our education system is nothing to write home about. Imagine a manger in a multinational company not knowing what a maiden name is?! |
agonbello: Lucky you. But I guess my wife "to be" (am 25 and will be getting wedded december dis yearAs a man thinks in his heart, so is he. I totally respect men like you. This is what being a man is all about. |
Eyop:I'm telling you! |
Dcmg: oga, which girl wouldn't want to marry a guy with the title of Chairman,CEO,founder of coca cola, facebook, mcdonalds, microsoft, oracle, apple,Google e.t.c.Do they even know what a businessman is?Maybe their defination ofThank you! Like I said, people need to meet more people and understand more about life. I shake my head at people who think broke/low income/salary earners are more faithful than the big boys. Yes the big boys are more busy so they have less time for romance and all but they make up every now and then. They simply do not have much time to fool around and when they do, they do it with the finest women and not just any mbeke they can be lucky enough to lay. |
agonbello: you keep on making reference to business failing, hitting a rock, instability etc. However you forgot that those career men, if not working for the govt, are working for a business. Applying your reference of business instability to wai they work, it by extension implies that they are gona loose dia job if the business hits a rock. The babe is deluded. In fact I doubt if she works cos if she's a part of present day Naija working class, she will know that no job is secure, even top shots are having it rough now. In my company about ten permanent staffs in my department were suddenly sacked last December. Including two supervisors! News going round is that more heads are rolling soon (permanent staffs o!) and I'm talking about a big multinational. |
I think this pretty much explains the recent NL disappearance. FG have been desperately trying to cover up tracks for a while now in the name of image rebranding. |
When I was younger, I used to do a lot of visiting because my neighbours had generator and I didn't (I've been staying without my parents since my Uni days) we would gist and gist and gist. But now that I'm busier and can afford fuel for generator, DSTV, etc, internet, etc. I hardly even spend my weekends at home and whenever I'm around my doors are always open for anyone for a chat or to eat what I'm cooking unless when I'm not just in the mood. Most times I'm passive. But if you look for my trouble, and finally find it ehn........... |
ssultana: But of course nairalanders, you are all the passive neghbours and your "neighbours" are anything but passiveMost active NLers are introverts. Forget all the noise they make here. they are like pus.sy cats in their neighborhoods/offices. |
As for you guys saying she should have kept quiet, na wa for una. esp the ladies. when you see your husband in the face of strong criticism won't you stand up for him and support him even if he was somehow at fault? Some of us will even do more sef yet you criticize her! mtcheeeew. Do you know how much this act from Adaeze will boost Yobo's morale? Like I said earlier, France had already won. So what's the big deal? besides, she's actually right, that own goal was hardly noticeable. I had to re-watch that part 5 times in slow motion before I could see it was actually an own goal. Go Ada! You are a super wife! |
Lol! Own goal or no own goal. We had already lost to France. Chikena! |
Acidosis: Case closed. This was in the 90s and early 2000s. Not now that jobs are no longer secure. Not now that you have to know somebody to get a job. Not now that being able to fuel your generator without crying is the koko. |
Eyop: There's a great difference between the two and that's what they fail to understand. So what will they call Mike Adenuga,Otedola,Dangote, etc not to even mention some low profile (Corporate)international business men and women.Abi! I have not even talked about the so called corporate guys who can hardly compose a sentence without a major grammatical error. Even in a big multinational company like where I work, can you imagine that many so-called managers do not know what a maiden name is? See, all na format. You need connections to get and retain job these days and not just degrees. What you end up becoming in life and how you eventually manage it all depends on what you've got up there. I laugh my asss off at people who claim that businessmen are not intellectuals. I wonder if these people live in and have never set foot out of Alaba market! So Adenuga, Dangote and co are not intellectuals? Come again please. Let's not even go as far as Adenuga and co. If businessmen are not intellectuals then how do they make their money? Do they think it's abracadabra? Some people really really need to go out and meet more people. |
Eyop: smh...some people think business men are classified as the Idumota,Idumagbo, trade fair,Alaba style of businessEXACTLY! gosh! Some people are so innocent/unexposed! |
Missmossy: Speak for yourself! Don't quote me next time to spill trash.pele dear. I was too harsh initially. I have edited my post. But honey truth is that you haven't met what I will call a businessman. |
Missmossy: The reason is obvious. So many things these rich business men won't get right! Richiy: most of these business men cannot satisfy a lady intellectually. For some of us, intellect counts above money.Hahahahahaha Oh! sorry. It seems you girls are referring to Aba businessmen. ![]() |
This Keshi is a typical politician. Always looking for who to blame for his failures but will never praise others for his success. He should just go into politics since he has retired. PDP go fit am well. |
In this day and age in Nigeria, sending your child to a public school is like stabbing that child to death. |
pro01: I'm not sure what this guy is talking about. Most girls don't give a hoot what you do for a living, insofar as there is evidence of financial success. In fact, the wealthy business guys have it easier with women in my experience. Only a a tiny minority of girls would actually prefer guys with "status jobs".I honestly think this op is just trying to console himself. |
You mean ladies parents? Which doesn't even happen anymore. For example, I don't care if you are self employed or a company staff. All I want to know is that what you are doing is legal, you are well connected and determined to succeed and that you have a good head on your shoulders. In fact even if you have a regular salary job, I don't care if your salary is 20 million per year, I like guys guys who can be their own men. I like watching guys give orders. Having a business doing on the side shows that you are a go-getter and not likely to be broke easily. It shows you are a step ahead of your peers. Besides who says that there is security with paid employment? That person certainly doesn't live in Nigeria! |
pimp_lucious :hehehehehe this is the funniest post of the decade! So Uncle Jonathan who is the one presiding over the whole country should do what then ![]() |
Look at all these awon olodos and anuofias commenting and criticizing what they don't even know half of. If the man is harsh on a hawker he's a wicked beast...... If he is kind he's encouraging hawking and seeking attention....... Wetin you want the man to do again awon oloshi? How can you be so stupid and blinded with prejudice that you will believe that he didn't latter give money to the kid? If he's the attention seeker you accuse him of, wouldn't he have given her money to "show off"? mtcheeeew |
delishpot: You are correct and also I noticed the man Olu Jacobs does not have the typical naija man mentality. I believe their home is peaceful cos olu and joke both understand that marriage is a joint partnership. Did you notice Joke still has her maiden name? It will show you the type of man olu is. Most naija men would have come here to rant about how my wife I am feeding and clothing and I paid 15 k bride price for will not change her maiden name and then the whole men here will go on womanhood bashing. These types that cant wait to " put a woman in her place" and the woman that will say no man can control me cant make a happy home. Most often its men that start marital problem sha in our culture where men think marriage is just to keep a woman in the house to get kids the right way while they go about acting "boys will be boys" doing girls and neglecting the wife.Joke uses Sylvia as a stage name only. But at when she leaves the stage she is Joke Jacobs. She said so herself. Don't deceive yourself, NO man will like a woman keeping her maiden name after marriage, unless he doesn't have plans for a long term marriage with her. Even oyibos sef, have you seen any above 10 years marriage where the wife is still keeping her maiden name? |
Awww Lovely! Congratulations!!!!! |
Eyop: I wouldn't be suprised if you know little or nothing about the state you come from because there are a lot of Akwa-ibomites in Lagos that turned Yoruba over nite just like one Ikot Ekpene lady i interacted with that doesn't even know her LGA and does not even speak the language so in such situations how do you expect her to appreciate the state she comes from? She will just goahead and marry any bongosua that comes her way.My dad is a political king maker as far as my constituency is concerned! Believe what makes you happy anyway.... |
Afam4eva: You didn't get my post. If Afam, as an I(gbo guy marries an Ibibio girl from Akwa Ibom state. I may not be tribalistic to Ibibio people. But what happens to Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Fulani people? Let me use you as an example. I've noticed your anti-Igbo sentiments especially when Igbos and Yorubas are going against each other in this froum and ni noticed that you're Efik/Ibibio. So, it could mean one thing: that you're married or getting married or getting married to a Yoruba person and as such not tribalistic towards them but what happens to other Nigerians(Igbos, Ijaws, Orhobos, hausas etc).Lolest! If you notice further, you'd see that I'm also VERY objective in my Judgments. You can see the way I just interacted with my fellow Akwa-Ibomite (Eyop) I don't give a rat azz if you are from my village my dear. I will give you what you deserve where you deserve it! Igbos on this forum are VERY tribalistic. It surprises me cos the Igbos I know personally are not as tribalistic. I notice that during most Igbo/Yoruba fights, the Igbos are usually more forceful and more vile and most times they start it, esp in Fashola-related threads! Disgusts the helloutta me! And btw, my man is partly Igbo! I won't mention his main tribe tribe though. |
PAGAN 9JA:You got me all wrong. That's because your pagan mind clouded your understanding. I don't argue with pagans/atheists. I see it as a total, complete waste of precious time and energy. Cheers! |
Afam4eva: It will be very minimal. How does an Igbo person marrying a Yoruba person stop him from still being tribalistic to an Hausa person for example. It will help a lot. How will a normal right thinking man stab or victimize a man simply because of tribe bearing in mind that his own mother or father is from the same tribe? If he does then it will most likely be for another reason. Don't forget Nigerians have this "na my brother" mentality. So definitely, an Igbo man with Hausa in-laws or cousins will be least likely to victimize a hausa man. |

take am easy on the poor man now.
) is more luckier for choosing me even b4 I started my business(es). Because I strongly believe in few years to come (less than 10), I will have an income from my numerous businesses which is very much greater than what the GMD of NNPC earns "legally/genuinely".
