I picked up my passport the following day in Abuja.

The AP thing didn't let me post my transcript for about a month.. But now I'll comfortably send it in

So that morning on the 25 in Abuja it was raining heavily got to the Embassy wet with about 100 people ahead of me...All that was in my head is I'm leaving here with that white slip...A lot of students were being denied before my eyes and people were saying sorry, I sha minded my own business like "Na Una Sabi ooo"

Note VO approved a lady before me...this made me scared like can she approve back to back.

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning how are you today, she said fine
VO: Passed my passport and i20 to her "Oh Ashland University" Why??
Me: Basically it's a Christian Uni and they have a good record in Graduate business courses..Top 50 in the USA...Also Ashland is a peaceful community that would suit my learning while in the USA

VO: Have you ever left Nigeria
Me: Never had the opportunity

VO: Do you know anyone in the USA
Me: No ... even tho I knew alot, a couple of friends and family sef (denied the paaaa)

VO..Did you take the GRE
Me: No..she frowned a little..I work and I didn't really have much time and besides the school specifically say, they gave me an option of GRE or IELTS submit one. So I took the IELTS and showed her.

VO : 8 in speaking woooow, you must be really good at speaking
Me: Smiled and said yes

VO: Which uni did you attend
Me : Ajayi Crowther studied Accounting and Finance
Vo: What was your final project about
Me: Told her Impact of IFRS in Nigerian public sector...okay wooo I go dabaru your head today

Me.. I have a poor business foundation and where I work, you need to be good at doing business head to toe.. Customer satisfaction all...I sha told her alot of business stuff

Me.. Told my boss i was planning for my master's and I would be leaving, but because he didn't want to lose me he decided why not invest in me and come back to his company with all the knowledge bla bla bla bla...I also have a company I registered with two other friends.

VO... I see you are making moves..May I see the bank statement..CAC document and Sponsor letter
Me....Passed it all to her...all this while I maintained full eye contact with her but damn my legs were shaking

Now here's the tricky part

VO...I hope this statement is not fraudulent

VO... "she then said I'll check them now and pretended like she was really going to check by moving away from her chair, turned back..and said I could have my statement back if I know it's fraudulent and she'll deny me jejely

Me.. Told her go ahead and check right now...then she came back and said okay I'll check later

She then gave me the yellow paper for ap and the two white and said the usuals...my legs were still shaking ooo

Oya I was just shinning teeth as I walked out

What a rough interview, I didn't prepare much, just went there like I know you'll give me, but I prayed o...I also had to stay in Abj throughout, AP is an emotional torture

Note...One thing I noticed is dress well o, if u fit wear suit sef wear am, you'll look more matured ...coz me I legit dressed like an accountant would that day o...and pray well, pray very well to your eleda ooo

If you are still on AP, pray well abeg and be sure of the account statement...if your interview is soon, pls don't go and do fake account abeg, they'll bounce you can..thank you

Y'all should free this guy na...Stop discouraging him...a lot of those who want to study meaningful courses were refused visa...

So I would start with the preliminaries because it played a big part in my interview.
While on the queue, I was listening to the guy before me at the booth I was certain I was going to be called to next . I overheard him listing some of the course he would be taking and at that point based on what he said and some other of his responses, I realised we were going to the same school and same program. I knew then, it was going to be an interesting interview.

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning
VO: Pass me your passport and I-20
…I did
VO: Mr. (she tried to pronounce my last name correctly).
….I smiled and corrected her.
She looks at my I-20, and I could see the surprise and awe in her face
VO: Do you know that guy that just left here?
Me: (I laughed) No I don’t but I overheard him listing some of the courses he will be taking and that caught my attention, and I started listening in and realise that we are both going to the same school and program.
VO: Yeah, same school and program, and same funding too.
Me: (still laughing) Wow, what are the odds
VO: (VO laughs) I know right, what are the odds of you guys coming right after one another and don’t know yourself.
VO: Have you applied for a US visa before.
Me: Yes but I was denied
VO: what’s your date of birth
Me: Told her
VO: Tourist visa yeah? Your denial
Me: yes, in 2014
VO: which secondary school did you finish from and year?
Me: 2010 (told her the school)
VO: When did you finish university?
Me: 2016, studied mathematics and computer science
…she took the other guy’s passport, was typing on her computer
VO: what have you been doing since you finished school.
Me: after my NYSC in 2017, I have been working as a software engineer with an IT firm here in Abuja.
VO: Do you code?
Me: Yes
VO: What languages?
Me: Javascript, PHP and python
VO: So you don’t know that guy?
Me: (I smiled) No
She took the guy’s passport and ask me to give her a minute. Came back some minutes later
VO: So how did you find out about this school?
Me: I did my research online on usnews and masterportal, I was looking at schools that focuses on some core areas in computer science that I would like strengthen my knowledge on like algorithm design and analysis, software engineering ….VO cuts me off here.
VO: A lot of schools in the US offer those courses.
Me: Yes I know, but I was also looking at schools I have the requirements to apply to, that has great learning facilities and professors and SHSU is ranked among the top 10 best public universities in Texas.
VO: Did you apply to any other school?
Me:Yes, CMU and UMass Boston. I got admitted to both SHSU and CMU.
VO: SHSU is the only school that gave you funding?
Me: Yes
VO: Did you write GRE?
Me: Yes, I wrote both GRE and TOEFL
VO: what was your score?
Me: GRE 305, TOEFL 105.
VO: What is your thesis going to be on?
Me: My thesis is going to be on software engineering and I would be focusing on data modelling, which is the process of structuring and organising data.
VO: Your assistantship and scholarship covers much of your program, who’s paying for the deficit?
Me: My brother
VO: Any document to show that he is supporting you financially.
Me: Yes (hands her SOA)
VO: (flips through first and second page) I would be keeping this document to verify its authenticity.
Me: Ok, no problem
VO: Can you please take a seat, I would right back.
…I sat and waited for 5 mins. After she came back, called my name.
VO: I am going to be placing you on Administrative Processing, We need to verify some of your information with the school.
Me: Ok. Can I ask how long that’s going to take?
VO: we should be able to call the school today but since its already weekend, most likely we would do that on Monday(5th).
…Handed me the 221g pink slip.
Me: Thank you and have a great day
VO: Have a great day too

I got the contact of the other guy, he was placed on AP too after being originally issued without any document asked.
Our case were both updated on the 8th, he was issued on the 9th and I was issued today.

To everyone on AP just keep praying and believing, i know it's not easy but it's all going to work out.
Much appreciation to people that take out of their time to help people out here when they can.
I appreciate you guys.

AP this AP that...English is the issue...Technically Issued, Technically Refused. I asked my VO specifically what she meant by "I'm placing you on AP" ...She replied I'm going to verify if this Bank Statement I have with her is real, told her go ahead. I knew the account was real and I also know the bank will never disclose to the embassy how much is in the account, I was lucky to know that AP varies..some AP are attached to Names you bear "FBI flagged names" also not only Nigerians experience AP, Visit Quora and search US visa Administrative Processing you'd be surprised. And not only F1 experience it..From what I know, F1 is even the baby of AP, you see those Hs and Bs na them be the father of AP. The US embassy are just being cautious of who comes in and out and how you'll care for yourself when you come into their country. If you are on AP pls block out any other person's advice or opinions, they are not the US embassy, pray and hope, if u can fast do it....At the end of the day I pray we all get approved.

Very very much...see ehn to me it is better they had told me the outcome while I was being interviewed and not place person on one yeye AP. I no fit sleep peacefully na every hour man dey check am lol

I dont pray my enemy is put in that situation...it kills mentally, mind won't be at rest...I'm to resume 29 but it pays to resume early
