ghettodreamz: Really a controversial topic. In my own opinion, I don't think it's wrong for a born again christian to be a soldier. Being in the force is an occupation and a call to protect ones nation as a serviceman.

God is against laziness. For a lazy man to be wise, he needs to observe the life pattern of the ants as a typical example. The ants are so industrious workers whose diligence and industrious spirits not only earn them their present but also help them to save for the future. If an ant could toil to feed then nothing stops a born again from working regardless of the nature of the job as long as it doesn't negates the law of a country or the word of God.

undecided Have u ever read "Thou shall not kill" ? Or is there a latest remix
Religion / Re: Can A Born Again Christian Be A Soldier? by swiftycool(m): 3:44pm On Oct 21, 2012
You guys are so funny trying to twist the truth to make yourselves look innocent. The other day a born again soldier was sent on a secret mission to kill a number of people in a community by his superiors. He followed orders and wiped out almost all the men in one community while his comrades raped the women all because he was obeying the last order which was an oath he had sworn (TO MAN)
Even ground troups are supporters of this agenda to provide logistics to help the killers sent to the front

As a military man u have no rights to question authority even if your superior is an evil person with secret selfish reasons for attacking other nations as it is with the US. Riddle me this: is it justified to see beyond your spiritual brotherly bond and shoot another born again christian in the head because he wears a different uniform and supports different ideals. Maybe obeying man is more important, and pls stop going back to the old testament when justifying this evils, its really lame!

Exactly, I suspect foul play here. The Nigerian Police are usually fond of this when under pressure, just like in Tafa Balogun's time parrading other armed robbers as suspects for crimes we know were actually politically motivated.I have been witness to situations where a petty thief was paraded as a murderer, we Won't accept that, we must be certain those are the actual perpetrators, they may have used ficticious names from all over Nigeria in order to save the community's name from future prejudice!

Let us not accept foul play! The Police must reconcile each of these faces paraded with the ones seen on the Video and state clearly the roles they played. Before we are sure we are not being taken for a ride

Ramcie: Hehe! cheesy cheesy .yoruba movies are very interesting just the translation that kills it . What baffles me the most is that, in virtually all the Yoruba movies I've watched, a girl always gets pregnant outside wedlock. There is always " Mo ti loyun " am sure I didn't get the spelling right but I believe it's means " am pregnant " . I need answers plzzzz. Why must they always get pregnant it doesn't speak well of our society you know.

But many english and other nollywood movies in other Naija languages do same now, remember the popular running to vomit scenes mostly of a very young girl, perhaps it potrays our real societal issues transcending all tribes.

Its no news that our first lady has really made many people laugh due to her poor articulation of English Language, however our entertainment industry (Nollywood) seems to have overtaken madam Patience by miles in this area with their breathtaking "gbagauns" especially when shown in subtitles. This is more alarming when you realise that all these videos from Nollywood are being broadcast all over the world.

Perhaps it would help a lot if producers can just try to get people who can at least translate for them in proper English and stop this embarrasment

I was able to get some snapshots of hillarious "gbagaun" subtitled scenes in some Nollywood movies.
Enjoy:

Oooh but this guy for no mess up on independence eve nah! Yet he would still come talking about reducing reckless spending while going ahead to do something more ridiculus! Besides y did Madueke need two hotels especially one in the same hotel with the President?

Why should 7 NNPC delegates hire 10 expensive limousines? Yet all our people say is let's pray 4 them, don't worry keep praying till they chop all finish.

“My administration will fight corruption and associated social vices until they are exterminated from our body polity,” he said, opening the conference.

He then left for the United Nations General Assembly, where the American press promptly identified his delegation as one of the most financially reckless, his Pierre Hotel suite alone costing Nigeria $10,000 per night. The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, occupied suites in two different hotels, one at the Four Seasons Hotel for $5,000 per night; and the other at Mr. Jonathan’s hotel for $3,000 per night.

Reporting on Nigeria’s squandermania, America’s National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), said, “Nigeria’s delegation is keeping five vehicles parked outside the Pierre Hotel where the cheapest room is about $800 a night – or roughly what most Nigerians earn in two years."

A SaharaReporters investigation found that the NNPC delegation actually rented a total of 10 limousines in New York for its seven visiting officials, at a daily cost of $1,800 per day. It was five of those vehicles that NBC found idling at Pierre.

I don't want to believe you're a christian. But if you are, then I'll like you to define the context.. "old school" and "new school".

Only in your "new school" church would a man glorify the almighty God with everything created by a man.

My definition of old school is a church with limited revelation fixed on religiousity and set up laws making christianity look more like a cult focussing dos and donts created by men instead of being led by the HolySpirit.
It's funny, am actually now beginning to wonder if u R a christian too. Try reading ur bible to find out if God wants to be glorified using harps, drums, trumpets, clashing symbals etc, last time I checked these stuff were Created by men and can be used equally to glorify the devil and his works but the wise ones rather use it to glorify their God. Just as all of creation God made or man made can be channeled as instruments for God's glory.

@poster u must be getting old, y not look 4 an old school church where u have as limited access to any form of information to suit u. I bet if u were alive in Jesus times u would have criticized him from reading scripture from scrolls instead of them being carved in stone like the 10commandments in Moses' times. Pastors unlike u think, are trained to be desciplined and are not hooked on facebook, tweeter, beebo or Nl like u hence won't be distracted so chill out. silky: just an observation, all pics are single storeyed buildings. Does that mean the bricks are not capable of multi-storeys?

Using the "framed structure" method of construction, the bricks can be used as the curtain walling component for even multistorey buildings.
Presently we have a commission for a storey building, however we have to respect the clients desire of not wanting it publicised.

Below is also what we can achieve with our bricks in terms of multi-vertical levels

Listen madam, let no little skank lady come and lie to you and break your home! Most women who date married men yet pretend not to know actually did from the start but lied about it. It is not difficult to find out if a man is married especially if you work in the same place or at least live in the same town. How do u date a guy yet not know where he lives?

From experience most ladies who call the wifey after enjoying her hubby often do so in revenge after the guy dumps them or gets a new catch or to onsit the wife cause her to take silly actions then plan to take her place. In most cases they even went out to seduce the guy in the first place despite knowing his true marrital Status. Their aim through the phonecall is to ruin you guys, cos they think there are not enough marriagable men to go around.

spyder880:
The least likely cause of building collapse will be the type of blocks used. Blocks contribute very little in terms of structural integrity. Please always look carfully on the qualities of rods, cement and most especially the mixing ratio of cement, sand, stone and water used for columns, beams and slabs. The foundation is another place where mistakes or shoddy work will be disastrous for the building. As I mentioned last year in the first page of this thread, one can build a house till 5 floors without using a single block, and it will not collapse. Columns and beams are the real skeletons of a house, blocks are just the flesh.

This I must admit is a very dangerous assumption and has led to the death of people in the past. There is a clear difference between a "partition wall" and a "load bearing wall".

Your reply assumes that all storey buildings are strictly designed as framed structures which isn't so. Houses have been known to collapse as a result of people knocking down walls unknown to be load bearing during renovations thereby compromising the structural integrity of a building.

A load bearing wall should be made of strong well compacted, filled blocks or bricks that's y as architects we specify 225mm mechanically vibrated block walls for the ground floor bearing in mind its requirement to transfer lateral loads to the foundation. Only "Partition or curtain walls" are the ones that can be called flesh which do not require strength as they only cover up the spaces between columns & slabs in framed structures which is a much more expensive construction method.
Plese people Never confuse the two types of walls.

Chizua: It is the devil, the evil spirit in the life of the enemies, that the christian are asking to die and not the name as a person

Are u sure Then how come there is always great rejoicing and excitement in such church over the sudden death, paralysis or strange evil that befalls such a person regarded as an enemy? Please stop making up false stories to cover up this evil practice because everyone knows devil and demons don't die, they can only be cast out
Religion / Re: Praying For Your Enemies To Die, Is It Right Or Wrong? by swiftycool(m): 8:08am On Aug 27, 2012
It is very sad that the church has adopted the style of pagans and other evil worldly religions who Rather than hold onto the word of God and speak directly to their situation with the power of the tongue, prefer to seek revenge in their hearts by cursing who they think is working against them, which unfortunately doesn't change anything or even works against them.
Hence you hear prayers like "your enemies will never know peace", "your enemy would die for u to live" etc, rather than just declaring "you are victorious in every circumstance", "you shall not die but live a long and prosperous life"

The name of Jesus was given to new testament Christians to use with their tongues to chart their way through life, "He has given us authority to trample upon snakes and scorpions and overcome all devices, plans, traps, laws etc set by the enemy, who happens to be invisible -Satan & his demons.

Note that satan or demons cannot die rather the body habouring it would die and the same reoccuring demon would move to another body close to u stronger until u kill all your human enemies against God's command with the evil prayers, while the demons keep roaming from place to place.
It is hence very wrong for a christian to pray this way.

Hi Mr Spyder, you are really an inspiration to many of us on nairaland. I really look forward to working with you some day.

However, I would like to raise some objections to some issues raised earlier about the difference between strength of vibrated blocks in comparison with hand made ones. Various tests have been carried out to prove the fact that compressive strengths of blocks are enhanced by mechanical compaction using vibration making it possible to get more numbers of STRONGER blocks per bag of cement than from manually made ones despite the mix ratio factors.

Also, it is bad advice to encourage the use of "beach sand" for block making knowing its salt content. Salt is very bad in reacting with cement and results in a reduction in strength overtime. Good sharp sand is gotten from fresh water rivers not salty beaches and the compaction is made stronger by adding a percentage of what is popularly known as "gum sand" or plastering sand, while "stone dust" could be added in little percentage for extra strength.

It is better to encourage people buy from block makers with mechanised production as it has been observed from some investigations that a greater percentage of collapsed buildings were built using handmade blocks or a combination of both.

Anyways, I believe we all learn each day, and I commend u for your good works and intentions here, I know God placed u here for a great purpose, keep shinning!

Are these laterite block the interlocking type that Hydraform is advertising?
What type of machine is used in producing these bricks/blocks
If they are not interlocking, how do u joint the blocks together? Do u still require mortal?
How do u handle conduit fittings?

Thanks for your question. In reply, these blocks bear similarity to the hydraform models in terms of material content and compressive strength however they are not made using the popular hydraform machine.
1. The blocks are compressed and moulded using a manual mechanical press which can also be mechanised. Ours are made using the Cinva-Ram machine presently manufactured in various but few countries including Nigeria where it is built by a brilliant india-trained specialized mechanical Engineer

2. we have various options of brick types which include both the motar binded-flat-faced bricks as well as the grooved interlocking brick type. Which is exactly shaped like the hydraform ones. The buildings in picture-post no.10 above utilized the interlocking brick types needing no mortar, while the building in post no.12 above utilised the mortar binded bricks which requires mortar.

3. Electrical conduiting is possible by chiseling out cuduit grooves for cable-pipes on the brick surfaces manually by a careful workman just like its done on non hollowed sandcrete brick types and sealed back with mortar. This is also possible for water supply and waste water pipes if done by a well skilled workman.

Are these bricks 9in? and how many do one need for a four bedroom bungalow?

For those asking for the cost of blocks needed for a type of flat, please note that designs differ and very little alterations could result in big cost changes, hence your designs might be required first to help us quantify your needs. However we also have architectural design services aimed at uptimal cost savings if u r interested
