I feel you. I was around when he was the head of state and I saw him in action, he practically changed Nigeria in little or time with WAI and other programs.

Nigerians were showing up to work on time because buhari was at your gate to fire you even if you are oga at the top, nigerians stopped throwing trash everywhere, we stopped rushing to enter buses, we stopped jumping the line and so on. Buhari successfully tamed our unruly ways and behavior in no time..

He proved his worth and he's a tested leader with good qualities.

Just imagine Nigeria today without IBB's coup and interruption..

I love someone who speaks honestly and without religious or ethnic bias, you are the true "Sincere 9gerian" not some pdp lap frog. The above is very true and were traits I admired about GMB and Idiagbon's govt, honestly Naija would have been great by now if not 4 dat corruption wholesaler IBB and the band of various indisciplined scallywags that came after him

I think it will make more sense if u could isolate an event or a case where Buhari was specifically a culprit. The above is just too lame, no offense

I never believed I could admit this years ago, but. I've come to realize if we really want radical change in this country We would need a corrupt free, no nonsense and very disciplined man in power which unfortunately I can't seem to find amongst my tribesmen or others: this is why I see Buhari as the best choice.

This is a man who refused many kickbacks and even a salary as ptf chairman, was given d chance to handle billions in various positions yet is not interested in amassing wealth like the others.

Because Buhari's conscience is clear, he has the intention of probing past govts, parastatal heads like Nepa, Nitel, Nigerian airways etc that plundered Nigerias wealth and dealing with culprits, this is why most people are against him.

If we really want change we need someone to revolutionalize the system like what happened in Ghana (isn't that what we want?); only someone with a mind like Buhari can do this!

Properties / Re: Architects OR Structural Engineers OR Baba Bricklayer? by swiftycool(m): 9:28am On May 05, 2013
brabus: I think it is fair to say most builders these days would cope without an engineer.

Ideas and thoughts really appreciated here

The same way many Engineers cope without a builder and even an Architect can cope without a builder. I believe it all depends on the size and design complexity of the structure.

Many builders I've met can cope with simple designs but get weary when the building is quite complex or enormous in size, often changing what the architect had in mind despite the fact that structural analysis by the Engineer have proved its work ability

Bottom line; the experience of a professional is important in handling any structure. There are builders who have developed and worked with Architects as well as Architects who have yrs of experience with structural Engineers and builders and each of these professional may quite cope on his own.

However, the reason why most people prefer a well rounded Architect in most cases is due to the fact that he conceptualized the design and if he is knowledgeable in the structural stability he is able to achieve the implementation himself or get the right professional that he knows can implement his vision.
NB: all 3 professionals have been trained to have quite some knowledge of each others field

As per Baba bricklayer, (laughs) perhaps if ur dream is just to build a conventional 2 bedroom bungalow on an excellent ground situation, but don't come running here if your complex structure gets faulty due to certain little oversights by 30yrs experienced Baba bricklayer. grin

3ndy: when i was five my mum was shot on her right ankle by armed robbers in nigeria.. surgery then was not possible due to the cheap bullet used that pieced in my mum's flesh.
now i'm 22 and my mum has been having difficulties walking and just living. so we took her to d hospital here in italy and the doctors said the bone and muscles where all gangrene now and that it was impossible to extract the whole bullets without causing her to lose sensibility in the whole leg.. that the only safe solution was amputation.
how do u all think i feel about armed robbers??

OMG shocked that's a very devastating story. Really sorry to hear that. Hope she is still able to get on with life. So sad sad

ninja4life: Religion delusion simple many people are into a particular religion not because dey wish but its wat dey are born into and brought up with so dey believe d promise of heaven and hell for not believing only few are able to really question those teachings while some are forced into religion because of hell its easier for dem to leave d religion wen dey know there is no hell or dat its just a delusion,am a living example.

Not everyone was born into a religion, though many have been forced into one by people using threats of hell as a warning if they refuse but some actually change to a faith based on some form of divine spiritual experience or encounter they have had rather than threats, some faithfuls really seem excited about their faiths and are not in it just to avert damnation I would have expected to find someone like that on here or is it just a smoke screen?

Phones / Re: Saka 'Ported' From Etisalat To MTN: The True Story Emerges by swiftycool(m): 2:33pm On Apr 25, 2013
ChukChinCol: New words: saka, port. I took the pain to go through the three dry pages of the thread just to tag along...i only get to know saka. But what he did i cant place.

Sorry for the confusion bro, this happens a lot on NL with everyone believing everyone else is abreast with recent trends.

Port - is taken from the word portability as in mobile number portability: this means the ability to change your service from any mobile telecoms network to another, yet keep your original mobile phone number, a new trend permitted by the Nigerian Telecoms Commission to ensure all providers improve the quality of their services.

For example, 0803*** is known to be an MTN number while 0809*** is an etisalat number. Now if you have been using MTN and get fed up with their poor services but have noticed that etisalat is a more stable and better network provider, you could decide to switch your mobile network provider from MTN to Etisalat yet maintain your MTN number. Hence you would still have 0803*** as your number but now be on etisalat network.

About Saka.
Saka had been the character used to advertise etisalat which so many people got to love cos he was damn funny. However with this number portability stuff Saka was shown in a new advert deciding to port from his former network to MTN and rumours are abound that he did so to spite etisalat because MTN offered him more money.
The reason for this move & the ethical factor surrounding it is what this thread is about. Hope this helps

The intentional shedding of blood is an act which provides spiritual currency that enables a person attain the rights (power) to something in the physical, hitherto not permitted by reason of the person's original (spiritual) status.

The more spiritually significant the body from which the blood was shed, the higher the value of the currency in the spiritual realm. The highest currency ever paid in the spiritual realm was the blood of Jesus, which he gave up of his own free will.

Bloods of lesser things and lesser beings have also been and till date is being used as spiritual currency to attain "a (spiritual) power" to get at physical stuff including wealth, hence the process of ritual killings. But be not ignorant that blood forcefully shed from another will cry eventually 4 justice, which is mandated to be given after a time in the spiritual realm

But here, I speak not to the hearts of the carnal minded but to those of the spiritually minded. . . Its real

Phones / Re: Saka 'Ported' From Etisalat To MTN: The True Story Emerges by swiftycool(m): 10:04am On Apr 25, 2013
A lot of confusion going on here. But let's see if eyes can be a bit more opened with this post.

Centre spread adapted Saka an already known character for the etisalat promo despite the fact that his character seemed to negate the HIP image etisalat is now trying to portray, however this was an intentional move in order to appeal to another segment of society; "the lower middle class"

Because of Saka's outlook in his etisalat ads, many people viewed the network as a cheaper or better still more affordable network which earned them large patronage within the short time they came on scene and presently compete with the giant mtn!

Unlike MTN which used adverts that made it look more "upper class" network, etisalat entered both segments of society with the Hip and common man adverts . And lately when MTn realized they were badly losing out on a segment of society that includes the larger percentage of Nigerians, they are now desperate to make the so called "Big man's" network look like a common man network hence the struggle to get Someone to portray this image which they found in Saka.

On the other side etisalat having established the common man image which everyone now identifies with them is now focusing more on the hip side to appeal to the upper class which is rapidly succeeding.

On Saka's part, he ported not really because of money, but because he found a place where he was presently more valued to help make a statement. In my view etisalat was smarter, because it knows the true Nigerian man better! Pure marketing genius

Family / Re: Dealing With Pressures From Single Girls by swiftycool(m): 5:02pm On Apr 23, 2013
Like I said in the past. The wedding ring which is expected to ward of those parasitic home breakers actually succeeds most times in doing the opposite I.e attracting them.

Don't be deceived most of the play about single ladies actually prefer aristo runs which means you- Mr stable married man, coupled with the fact that you have somehow become more matured in handling situations, are more caring and responsible plus they intend to compete with ur wife who might have started gaining weight or is not as flashy as b4 due to home duties etc.

If u doubt it try it, even single guys are using wedding rings to attract gullible greedy girls, the ring on a young rich handsome guy is definitely a conversation starter 4 such ladies.

^^^ are u aware that the Jehovas witnesses don't believe in hell yet still seem steadfast in their commitment to whatever it is they believe in.

Does it mean the fear of hell is d reason why many others still worship God? I kinda believe if it is, people are into a faith for fear, is that how it should be?

Please can u explain what exactly u understand or mean by the above. Or is it just a repetition of what you have heard in Church?
Religion / Re: If There Was No Hell Fire, Would U Still Be A Christian/muslim by swiftycool(m): 9:13am On Apr 21, 2013
ezme:

If there was no hell and also no heaven, religion would lose it appeal. Take away the reward and the punishment and everyone would be indifferent about it. Even those who claim to love God so much right now.

I once asked here "How appealing is the promise of eternal life?" Even the most vocal of Christians down here couldn't even give reasonable response.

So in your opinion, you believe that most people are into a faith because of a fear of possible eventual destruction, rather than love for the creator of the Universe?

Is there a christian or Muslim here with a different opinion?
Religion / If There Was No Hell Fire, Would U Still Be A Christian/muslim by swiftycool(m): 8:29am On Apr 21, 2013
Hey Nairalanders!
I was just thinking about this and thought to bring it to the table. I know some Christian sects already believe this but am asking you, who don't .

What if there was no hell fire, to burn up all wrong doers or sinners, unbelievers etc. as many followers have been taught to believe; and your soul either goes to heaven or just completely ceases to exist after death, would you still strive to be a committed christian, muslim; running away from all forms of sin or would you live a different kind of life.

Let's hear it

Romance / Re: Getting Married In 2 Months - Why Does He Distrust Me So Much? by swiftycool(m): 2:27pm On Oct 31, 2012
Your fiance has serious trust issues originating from his past experiences, that's understandable but u don't deserve to be punished for it.

A lot of peeps on this thread would tell u to immediately quit and go for someone else but I feel a resistance in you to do that because you actually love this guy who actually has many other unmentioned positive qualities. This I commend because you don't quit on a person you truly love, you do your best to help them.

You guys would require some relationship counselling sessions with a professional therapist to iron out this issue once and for all before you proceed to marriage. Please take a hold and suggest it to him after you have broken down before him making him realise how he's hurting your feelings and making you weary of the journey ahead with his attitude.

If he really loves u, he'll listen and follow you, he needs this to become fully healed of whatever has been haunting him, I asure you he can become a better person, pls don't give up on him just yet.

Goodluck

Please beware of people who skillfully twist passages or stories in the bible especially some pastors to justify their evil deeds against fellow men. Any profession that is involved in exterminating precious life given by God for a purpose is evil and should be avoided.

How do you explain the soldiers who fought and killed thousands during the Biafran war? Dropping bombs to wipe out comunities just because they decided they wanted their independence from the nation. Who was the enemy in this case? And what exactly was being defended or was the reasson 4 attack?
Most of the millions killed were christians killed equally by christians who hitherto might have even been co-church members.

Joining the army is wrong 4 a christian Chikena!
