Today is the beginning of Lent, may we have a fruitful Lenten season. Amen.

You are quite an inspiration to many, even more to those you've never met. We have experienced your motherly care and concern here in this thread. Though today is Ash Wednesday, we'll still remember and celebrate you. I say Happy birthday SalC, Ada Zion. May the presence of our Lord never depart from you, amen.

Is he right about debunking Catholic priests paedophilia and the Pope shielding them?
Anybody can claim to debunk anything,it doesn't mean it didn't happen. There are Jewish people who claim to debunk the holocaust in which six million Jews were gassed to death by the Nazis. It doesn't mean it didn't happen.
I have even seen people claiming General Sani Abacha didn't steal public funds,it doesn't mean he did not do it.
I have seen quite a number of your posts on nairaland. Your aggressive campaign to smear Catholicism, by bringing up from anywhere and everywhere, negative publications on various individuals and maybe groups in the Catholic Church, and falsely portraying it as what the church represent is disturbing.

Do you even think that good people have come through the Catholic Church? Do you believe that people's lives have been touched positively through the instruments of the church? Have you given a thought that those whose lives were touched positively have professed, do profess, and will profess, again and again, the goodness of the Church to them.

When you pick your battle, do your homework well. Things are not often the way it seems, be objective and free yourself from hate. Find below the confession of your hero, after 10 years of his book.

"While I believe with many commentators that the pope might have done more to help the plight of the Jews, I now feel, 10 years after the publication of my book, that his scope for action was severely limited and I am prepared to state this.... Nevertheless, due to his ineffectual and diplomatic language in respect of the Nazis and the Jews, I still believe that it was incumbent on him to explain his failure to speak out after the war. This he never did."

Brother, Christianity is all about Jesus CHRIST no other person have the power to save except by him whom scribe we are heal, not even Mary, mary was a mere instruments God used to deliver message as he uses prophets today. Pray to God in Jesus name and u will have answers.
Bro, aren't you the one who is searching for answers? aren't you the one whose spirit is asleep in the face of evil machinations? I search for no answers because; Jesus the son of Mary has got me covered. Take a moment and think about your life, think about how blind you are spiritually, then reconsider your devotion. The angel, delivering a message from God the father, called her blessed Lk1:28. Elizabeth under the influence of the Holy spirit called her blessed Lk1:42, she herself bearing God the son in her womb, declared that all generations shall call her blessed Lk1:48. Yet you call her "mere instrument", don't you see why you're in such a troubled state?

Am a catholic but I have decided to stopped believing their doctrine becos they contradict the bible, I have even gone to minor seminary, There were times, I wanted to be priest but later change my mind as I get older, so I know what am talking about
1. I can't keep praying the rosary when Jesus is merciful God and has paid the ultimate price on the cross for me, I need no Mary to intercede for me, Jesus is the way, nobody can come to the father except through him.
2. I cant keep praying Saint Michael the arch angel prayer when the bible in revelation in 22:9 says we should worship God alone, angels are only answerable to God, there are used by God to deliver message to man, u cant send them.
3.only God is holy, we were told that the pope is infallible, stop believing too much in pope, pope is human like u but pray to your heavenly father in heaven.
When your life gets more stable, and the confusions cease, even this shall be made clear to you. Be humble.

I have a testimony, it's not a huge one but it's a testament to the power and mercy of Our Mother Mary. I recently resolved to start a 54day Rosary Novena for a very critical intention. I normally have all my prayers in my phone as pdf files and saved pages. The problem I encountered was that my phone has been having screen issues since December 28th (It was going blind and fading and I could barely see anything). I was told I would need a certain sum of money to repair it which I can't afford for the time being. Yesterday, I prayed the Express Novena of 9 Memorares to Our Lady for Urgent intentions and begged her to please either bring my screen back to the way it was when I got it or to at least make it clear enough so I could see the words of the prayers I was saying until I could raise money to repair it. In fact, I wasn't expecting the first option because it would be nothing short of a miracle. This morning, I woke up to pray and my screen was still bad, I tried my best to pray with it and as I was praying, I noticed my screen was getter darker and darker, I almost cried because I thought it was finally going blind but that's not what happened; I literally watched a miracle happen before my very eyes. My screen came back to normal!!! Just like that. That was when I started crying. I am so grateful to God and Mother Mary. Never say a prayer without asking for her intercession .
Amen Amen

They don't hate pastors as my mum was a catholic bfr getting married, her family are still Catholics
My mum doesn't have a problem with me converting as I mentioned earlier she was a catholic, since I plan to join charismatic
I had started the classes then but stopped.
Serious,he don kuku come today with wine to make his intentions known.
Definitely, he knows my parents won't agree for a catholic wedding, he is actually scared abt it although he said if it raises too much issues we might just do the traditional and a reception and maybe fix the wedding after then
I actually love attending Catholic church,I av a rosary and a scapler, most times for St Anthony of Padua to interced for me when I lose something, damn it works everytime,e,maybe because I have faith that it would, sometimes I pray for St Rita to interceded,am planning to say the Novena but I dunno if it wud work for Non catholics,if u can answer that plz do
If St. Anthony works for you as a protestant, why do you nurse a doubt that St. Rita would? I am glad to see that you're one who actually loves the church.

On the matter of your wedding, please stop entertaining fear. Roses grow on thorn for a reason, you have shown love for the man and his church too, then make up your mind that you're going to Marry him. Pray with faith that everything will turn out fine, it will surely. If your dad could pull your mum out of the Catholic Church, I doubt he will be able to withstand pressure to allow you wed in the Catholic Church. Why am finding it difficult to make suggestion is because it's all yet based on speculation. Your Father has not accepted the guy and now says wedding in Catholic church is his problem. You can actually go in line with having a traditional marriage that is loud in your father's place and a quiet wedding in the Catholic church same day or separate days. There are several ways to go about this and keep everyone satisfied, but please do not compromise a catholic wedding, it's for your own good spiritually and socially. You can always receive help and guidance from the Parish Priest of any Parish you attend. If you tarry here long enough, you may as well get advice as you move along and face each obstacle step by step.

Ayam not even understanding...

Please you people should explain Abeg.

Agreement between both partners and families aside, I want to understand the lady. Knighthood as I know it isn't for young single men (to put it simply). Please how is the man a knight? I want to understand that before I Say what I'm thinking.
Please note that we have a few standard requirements to join The Knights which are:

1. Roman Catholic man over the age of 16.

2. That you do not belong to any secret society forbidden by the Catholic Church.

3. That you be recommended by your Pastor and a Knight of. St. John in good standing.

This seem to be the basic written requirements, but it's not common in Nigeria to see single young men as knights, because it's like "class thing" in Nigeria.

Well, that's not the point of your query anyway.

As per your question, the post by Ubenedictus is a place to start. First, where to wed shouldn't be the first thing. To help you with his post, here is a simple checklist.

Has the marriage process commenced formally?
Do you intend attending the catholic church afterwards?
Is the wedding the only thing your parents are against?
Have they even expressed their objection openly?

In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Rome The Christian Capital by Syncan(m): 2:36pm On Jan 03, 2019
Ubenedictus:
As usual you have it upside down.

First Constantine gave Christianity freedom of worship. The emperor had the political power, the Pope and bishops had authority in the church. At that time the Pope had no military, he did have the power to preach to the kings.

Later Christianity became the religion of state but even at that the church still didn't have military power that belongs to the emperor.

The capital of the empire was moved by Constantine from Rome to constantinople, military power still belonged to the state not the Pope, even when the popes started to use the title pontiff the military power was still with the state not the Pope.

Now go and read up the fall of Rome, barbarian invaded Rome and brought down the government, they burnt books and whatever inventions they could find that is what is called the DARK AGES, it was not caused by the church instead it was caused by the barbarian invasion of Rome which almost ended Roman literacy. It was the church that was instrumental in redeeming the situation, the monasteries became centers of education, that is how the church came to control both medicine, science, architecture etc because it was the educator of the entire Europe after the barbarian invasions.

Even after this the Pope did not keep political and military power of the world nor did he "rule the word" as you ignorantly claimed. Instead the most influential king in Europe, was given charge over the western empire, it was this emperor that had the political and military power not the Pope. The only temporal power the Pope consistently maintained were the papal states in modern day Italy.

So yes the governing of the society was always done by the state not the Pope, the Pope oversees the church and was instrumental in correcting kings and preventing wars. The idea that the Pope " ruled the world with an iron fist" is a sad myth. The Pope wasn't ruling the world the kings were, the Pope ruled the church and the papal states as an assurance of independence.

It is funny that you are ignorant of this because many of those kings actually attacked and sometimes killed the popes if his teaching disturbed them, some captured and imprisoned the popes and others had standing armies in Italy to intimidate the Pope, does that sound like the Pope ruling the world?

Separation of church and state simply meano states do not have to recognize the church as it used to do and clergy can't lead society apart from that, the state always had military power and the church always had spiritual power and each one defended it's turf from encroachment by the other.

Yes I have read Joan of arc, she was a catholic woman who believed she saw heavenly people and she led wars for her country, the armies she fought against captured her put her before a religious court which condemned her religious experience as heretic and condemned her, they were wrong and the church soon found out what had happened and declared her a saint, she is St Joan of arc.

Lastly even the earth belongs to God, the Lord's is the earth and it's fullness the world and all its people, even the Bible says the meek will inherit the earth, I see no reason why Christians can't rule and I also understand the reason the popes has always allowed states to keep political and military power without interference because we look forward to a heavenly kingdom
Contra Factum Non Valet Argumentum.
