italo:You're welcome bro. |
From today's first reading. IS 58:1-9A "Tell my people their wickedness, and the house of Jacob their sins. They seek me day after day, and desire to know my ways, Like a nation that has done what is just and not abandoned the law of their God; They ask me to declare what is due them, pleased to gain access to God. “Why do we fast, and you do not see it? afflict ourselves, and you take no note of it?” Lo, on your fast day you carry out your own pursuits, and drive all your laborers. Yes, your fast ends in quarreling and fighting, striking with wicked claw. Would that today you might fast so as to make your voice heard on high! Is this the manner of fasting I wish, of keeping a day of penance: That a man bow his head like a reed and lie in sackcloth and ashes? Do you call this a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD? This, rather, is the fasting that I wish: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; Setting free the oppressed, breaking every yoke; Sharing your bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own. Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed; Your vindication shall go before you, and the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer, you shall cry for help, and he will say: Here I am!" Specific instructions! The Lord speaks His mind..."This, rather, is the fast that I wish" he said. For this reason I have nothing more to say, but to upload Pope francis' list. Today let me walk with you in prayers Francistony. As we go through this lenten season, may your eyes be open to the tiny drops of blessings around you. If you persevere in doing His will, you shall call, and the LORD will answer. May the glory of the LORD be your rear guard. Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to you.

From Today's Gospel. LK 9:22-25 "...Then he said to all, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?” " Have you ever felt like forgetting about all these religious things and indulging yourself for a while? I have found myself in such occasions at different times in my life. Yet after a while of indulging myself in a care free manner, I get bored by same things. I desire more sophistication from what I earlier thought was the pinnacle of pleasure. It is always an endless circus! “You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless, until they can find rest in you.” cried St. Augustine. Are you in such a situation now? Have you suspended keeping some commandments for the time being? Note that death could come this period, and what will it then profit you.... I've seen Christians suspend "thou shall not steal" because they found themselves in control of public funds, yet people have died in public offices, what would it then profit you.... I have seen Christians suspend "thou shall not commit adultery" because they are courting, yet people have died before their wedding days, and what would it then profit you.... I have seen Christians suspend "thou shall not bear false witnesses" because of politics, yet winners have died before getting into the office won, what would it then profit you....Here is another opportunity, it's a period of retreat for you and for me. Let's do this together, let me walk with you, let's draw closer to God this lent. May His grace be abundant in this period. Good morning beloved brethren, a splendid day ahead to all. |

Speechless3:Yes dear one, those churches existed, founded mostly by Paul. They weren't separate churches; but branches of same church with headquarters in Jerusalem where Peter was (Gal.2:1 and Acts 15:2). On the matter of scriptures, think about it for a while, the scattered Christians couldn't have had "enough or all" scriptures, since paul's letters for example; were written to particular branches and kept with them-mostly in the hands of certain individuals. Finally, speaking things evolve, and so does administration, the administrative nature of the Catholic church has evolved over the years, but one thing is certain, the headquarters have always been where the Pope is. Today it is Rome. |
brocab:I keep asking you to think, but obviously you're not gonna do that. Protestantism started in the 16th Century, around 1507 actually. By then, Christianity has been on earth for about one thousand five hundred years. Spread by Catholics throughout the earth, at a time, Catholics who honored Mary, worked hard and compiled a bible to help the Catholic Church teach one faith, one Lord and one baptism. From the time the Catholic church canonized (authenticated as scripture) these set of books (out of the many being used in various places) to the time of the Protestant revolt, was about one thousand two hundred years. Through out these years, the Catholic Church nurtured by her mother, the ever blessed virgin Mary, preached the gospel to all nations Mk.16:15, baptized peoples Matt.28:19,laid their lives down for Christ Phill.1:21, and God showing his presence, wrought numerous miracles through them Acts.5:12. For one thousand five hundred years the Catholic Church withstood the gates of hell, till it was "end time" when the |
Ubenedictus:Shameful I must say. However, Christ our Lord bore more for us without retaliation 1Pet.2:23, that's why we keep coming back. Peace be with you. |
brocab:Our Jesus and His Mother Mary are not in any competition. There's nothing like "people like you", My teachings are the teachings of the one Holy Catholic Church. The same one whose princes and theologians Compiled and Canonized the Bible, the one whose glorious sons and daughters shed their blood through out the persecution of the early heathens of Roman Empire and the Bavarian (you may google catacombs). The one voice that continues to defend morality in our modern times. The one whose adherence to Christ words of "love thy neighbor" makes her the greatest charitable organisation the world has ever witnessed. The one Church whose teachings and indeed acts are not based on one man's dreams, another's lascivious desires nor someone's greed. The greatest spreader of the good news to the world through out history, conquering heathen territories, converting nations, and winning souls for Christ. The church that has withstood the gates of hell for about two thousand (2000) years and still stands as promised in Matt.16:18. The Church that is proud of and exalts her Children who are saints , yet is not afraid to acknowledge, instruct, love and pray for her children who are sinners. That's the church we're talking about, the Church, the pillar and foundation of truth. 1Tim.3:15. Praise God! Now you condemn other "born again" as following the words of man, while you are the one with enough experience to follow God's word, yet you called all of you "born again" earlier. Confusion! What makes you more born again than them? Why do you think the "born again" who observes Sabbath day as Saturday is following the words of man as against the one who observes Sunday, one says masturbation is not sin and another says it's sin, yet they are both "born again" led by the "spirit". One says women should not preach in churches, the other says women should preach, yet it all comes from the "spirit". Think brocab, think. One fold, One shepherd, One faith, One baptism, one one one! That's the way of our God, not this Chaos in Protestantism. |
brocab:brocab, long time. I am not going to go into back and forth journey with you, we've had our own fair share on this topic. However, Just from your post alone kindly contemplate the following: If we are "Catholics" and you "born agains", what were the Christians that laid down their lives during the martyrdom of Rome, what were the Christians who compiled and cannonised the books of the bible, what were the Christians who spread the word of God to all parts of the earth, baptizing them and bringing them to Christ until the 16th Century of the protestants? If you "born agains" are taught by the Holy Spirit, why are there so many teachings on same issues, why are there so much contradictory interpretations, which can only come from the author of confusion, why does one "born again" demand the wearing of apron and the other "born again"ask people to eat grass? I agree with scripture when it says to enter the kingdom of God, one must be "born again". But how you became the judge of who is born again is what baffles me. You say Mary can't do all those, and I say you don't know what you're talking about. St. Paul's writing is clear, by their fruits we shall know them. Matt.7:16. |
dmandy:Pay no heed to his rants, I have taught people far worse than him. He's been learning without appreciation and that's a problem ""It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs." Matt.15:26. When he is ready to purge himself of his perverse disposition, I will be here to teach him in a very explicit way. I'm sure all my brothers he's mentioned can enlighten him as well. However for now, Just note what St. Paul says about his kind. 1Tim.6:4 "He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself". |
vooks asked a question thus: "And why can't the rest of her offsprings be natural? Any scripture to support this?" For which I answered using scriptures Ezekiel 44:2. "Then said the Lord unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut". May the Lord grant us understanding. Note that no where did I answer on Perpetual Virginity of Mary, for I gave it to him as an assignment here https://www.nairaland.com/2761616/does-adeboye-now-believe-canonization/9#41281008. Yet for this scriptural response of mine, he has followed up with the following : vooks: vooks: vooks:1Tim.6:4 "He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself". St. Paul says it all. |
Ubenedictus:Are you serious? And I thought I was anonymous . I heard you're doing baiday, May your days ahead be watered by showers of Divine blessings. Amen. Happy Birthday to You. |
SalC:Am glad I made you happy on Christmas day. |
SalC: Forgiven. Of course it's SalC, and today is Christmas. May His oil of favour on you never run dry. |
debbie:May joy and laughter fill your home, Nwanyi oma. I'm not gonna complain about SalC, who acted like she didn't see my post; while greeting others. |
May the new born King bring joy and laughter in our lives, and may the graces of the season bring us closer to Christ. Amen. Be happy, Be safe. Happy Christmas all, a splendid day ahead. |
