For the interview just stay calm, explain why you are visiting. Make sure you have details of what you intend to do in the New Jersey
Be ready to prove your ties to Nigeria
You don't need to take any extra document apart from interview appointment letter and one copy of your passport photograph

Poster must prove relationship to any one they claim is a relative. In this case to prove it is a sister, poster is to submit their birth certificate, pictures together etc

I still insist, no need for proof of relationship. This isnt Canadian PR. What does birth certificate prove? They can have different surnames and different fathers or mothers and still be sisters.

This is visit visa please. I have sisters , cousins, aunties and uncles who have been listed on my form and no proof required.

Has anyone successfully rebooked an appointment with VFS after missing the appointment. What happened was that I didn't pay attention to the date and I thought it was next week Wednesday but it was actually today, and with less than 24hrs notice, rescheduling wasn't possible.

I paid £150 to use the Portharcourt VAC and cancelling the application would mean I can't get a refund of the VAC fees. VFS phone numbers and emails aren't going through and I've sent someone to PH and they said only option is to cancel and redo the application but I'm super worried about losing £150 just like that!

I contacted them on X/twitter and they sent a link which says I can rebook for a fee of £20 within five days of missing the appointment but the reschedule button is still greyed out and not clickable making it impossible to rebook.

I'm kinda confused and feeling defeated now cause this is such a rookie mistake

Since the rebook is greyed out maybe wait till nighttime it might be clickable then.

Education is not a factor, many wit little education get visas.

Your mum answered what she knew, how a VO received it is different.

Your mum can reapply with or without your Dad. The choice is yours really.
If you're asking for what has changed..nothing just that her son wants at least one of his parents when to attend his graduation it's important to him.

My girlfriend has just been refused UK Tourist Visitor Visa for 7 days holiday (see refusal letter attached). She's currently a student at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, and employed as a remote Digital Marketer with a company in the US. She has worked with this company since July 2023 and presently earn $1,782 every six weeks. The purpose of her trip is for a short holiday in London, to relax and experience the city’s cultural and historical attractions.

Kindly advise based on the refusal letter. In addition, what are her chances of approval if she re-applies and address the refusal reason.

Just to add, the missing salary mentioned in the refusal was, in fact paid the first week of the following month(April) and it appears the VO skipped that entry in her bank statement.

So based on this refusal it seems she wrote that she earns 1785 per month instead of twice that which is biweekly. Please check what was filled on the form.
This is important because the cost listed for her trip is almost all of her monthly income so why would she spend her monthly income on a trip .

Note ehe VO also mentioned she had no savings. Check what was filled in the form in the savings section

Look through her bank statements thoroughly what ever goes out of her account as expenses must tally with what she put as her monthly expenses. Based on the refusal it doesn't.
Look if she spends most of what she earns then this visa application will likely be refused again. So if you are paying for this trip just indicate that and add your savings account statement. Else she will just reduce her expenditure, improve her savings and apply in a few months time.


The salary inflows mistake you can highlight the inflows with a coloured pen or asterisk it and include explanation in the additional information section.

Good evening family, i have been following this forum for a very long time from Ghana. My niece UK Visit visa refused on the following grounds

1. You state that you have a husband and daughter in Ghana. However, your family's wider social and economic circumstances are not demonstrated for me to be satisfied that is credible in relation to your wider circumstances in Ghana. You have never travelled outside of Ghana, and you do not satisfied that this a genuine visit and that you would come to the UK for tourism and sightseeing.

2.I have considered the various information submitted along with your application. In support of your application, you have submitted a personal bank statement. However, i noted unexplained cash deposits made to reflects your financial circumstances in the country of your residence. From the information you have provided i am unable to establish the source of these funds and whether they are in your exclusive control and available for your proposed visit to the UK. As such, i am not satisfied that you have provided a reliable portrayal of your current personal circumstances nor satisfied that your intentions to visit the UK are as stated and that you will leave at the end of your visit.

In the light of above, I am not satisfied that your personal and financial circumstances are as stated by you. I am therefore not satisfied that you intend to leave the UK, at the end of your visit and that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor. Your application is refused under paragraph V 4.2 (a) & (c).

You don't have enough travel history, seems you have never travelled out of Ghana for tourism so your first time being the UK is suspect

If your trip is sponsored by a government agency, would they expect you to add bank statement of the organization to your application?

Secondly, I understand people add their children's birth certificates to demonstrate home ties in cases where the children are not travelling with them, what if the children are US citizens that don't need visas to the UK, is it still necessary to add their birth certificates? They are not travelling with me.

I don't think govt agency would give you bank statement.
But ask the agency to provide a letter stating that the are sponsoring (include, flights accommodation etc) the purpose of the trip and that you are their staff.
I know giive agencies usually give you the funds upfront so usually might want to add that into your section on additional information.e.g I get xxcc stipend for accommodation and yyyyyy for flight and ground transportation.

If it's in naira you can highlight that part in your bank statement

I aooloed for TRV in May 2025 and submitted my passport yesterday at VFS Abuja as instructed by the Canadian Authorities.

After dropping off, I got an email/SMS which said:
" The envelope for the decision on the results of your visa that has been processed has been received at the Canadian Visa Application Center at Lagos OC on the date. We will then send this to the Canadian Visa Application Center Lagos OC Your decision envelope will be returned to you via the courier service offered by the VAC. Collection of decision envelopes in-person at the VAC is not permitted until further notice. Please refer to the 'Buy Services' page of the VAC website for further information on courier services offered by the VAC"

My office is a few minutes walk from the VAC, so Courier is just a waste of resources in this instance. I told the VAC Staff when they asked if I wanted Courier and they smiled.

Different immigration office. Ikoyi for instance give a sheet of paper with the date you captured and your name.


At most check back there with that paper in 3 or 4 weeks

It is likely USCIS, if so like I suspected your petition has not been approved yet. I know some service centers approval can take up to 52months.
Yes you have a priority date but your petition is awaiting approval from USCIS.

Now the timeline for when an immigrant visa would be made available to you as F3 is about 15 yrs or so from your PD . That's when you can expect NVC to contact you to upload documents which they will review before confirming you are DQd . Next step after that is Lagos consulate and interview

After the applicant is documentarily qualified, will the embassy call or email him or her to come to for document review?

After DQ you wait till you get the email with the interview letter. Document review date won't come till after interview date.

I don't know who the applicant is but they need to manage expectations. You can be DQ but your PD must be current as well before consulate will schedule interviews Then you WAIT WAIT till Lagos sends interview letter via email. It could still be 1, 2 or 3 yrs.
