Good evening family, i have been following this forum for a very long time from Ghana. My niece UK Visit visa refused on the following grounds

1. You state that you have a husband and daughter in Ghana. However, your family's wider social and economic circumstances are not demonstrated for me to be satisfied that is credible in relation to your wider circumstances in Ghana. You have never travelled outside of Ghana, and you do not satisfied that this a genuine visit and that you would come to the UK for tourism and sightseeing.

2.I have considered the various information submitted along with your application. In support of your application, you have submitted a personal bank statement. However, i noted unexplained cash deposits made to reflects your financial circumstances in the country of your residence. From the information you have provided i am unable to establish the source of these funds and whether they are in your exclusive control and available for your proposed visit to the UK. As such, i am not satisfied that you have provided a reliable portrayal of your current personal circumstances nor satisfied that your intentions to visit the UK are as stated and that you will leave at the end of your visit.

In the light of above, I am not satisfied that your personal and financial circumstances are as stated by you. I am therefore not satisfied that you intend to leave the UK, at the end of your visit and that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor. Your application is refused under paragraph V 4.2 (a) & (c).

please can someone please help me with understanding for the first paragraph and shed little bit of paragraph 2.

They are not convinced that you have enough ties to Ghana to return after your visit

You don't have enough travel history, seems you have never travelled out of Ghana for tourism so your first time being the UK is suspect

Do you a long history of employment in Ghana?
How long did you say you wanted to stay?
Do you have family in the UK that didn't come back?

Hello everyone, please I need guidance for my application.

If your trip is sponsored by a government agency, would they expect you to add bank statement of the organization to your application?

Secondly, I understand people add their children's birth certificates to demonstrate home ties in cases where the children are not travelling with them, what if the children are US citizens that don't need visas to the UK, is it still necessary to add their birth certificates? They are not travelling with me.

I don't think govt agency would give you bank statement.
But ask the agency to provide a letter stating that the are sponsoring (include, flights accommodation etc) the purpose of the trip and that you are their staff.
I know giive agencies usually give you the funds upfront so usually might want to add that into your section on additional information.e.g I get xxcc stipend for accommodation and yyyyyy for flight and ground transportation.

If it's in naira you can highlight that part in your bank statement

I aooloed for TRV in May 2025 and submitted my passport yesterday at VFS Abuja as instructed by the Canadian Authorities.

After dropping off, I got an email/SMS which said:
" The envelope for the decision on the results of your visa that has been processed has been received at the Canadian Visa Application Center at Lagos OC on the date. We will then send this to the Canadian Visa Application Center Lagos OC Your decision envelope will be returned to you via the courier service offered by the VAC. Collection of decision envelopes in-person at the VAC is not permitted until further notice. Please refer to the 'Buy Services' page of the VAC website for further information on courier services offered by the VAC"

My office is a few minutes walk from the VAC, so Courier is just a waste of resources in this instance. I told the VAC Staff when they asked if I wanted Courier and they smiled.

I was captured at the VIP section of the office. The white small paper given to me has same date of capturing on it. I don't know what that means. I've checked the website tracker it is on the last "yet issued" stage

Different immigration office. Ikoyi for instance give a sheet of paper with the date you captured and your name.


At most check back there with that paper in 3 or 4 weeks

It is likely USCIS, if so like I suspected your petition has not been approved yet. I know some service centers approval can take up to 52months.
Yes you have a priority date but your petition is awaiting approval from USCIS.

Now the timeline for when an immigrant visa would be made available to you as F3 is about 15 yrs or so from your PD . That's when you can expect NVC to contact you to upload documents which they will review before confirming you are DQd . Next step after that is Lagos consulate and interview

It would be ready before then.

Track it online and check there in about 3/4 weeks.

Worst case tag them on Twitter if it's not ready.

After the applicant is documentarily qualified, will the embassy call or email him or her to come to for document review?

After DQ you wait till you get the email with the interview letter. Document review date won't come till after interview date.

I don't know who the applicant is but they need to manage expectations. You can be DQ but your PD must be current as well before consulate will schedule interviews Then you WAIT WAIT till Lagos sends interview letter via email. It could still be 1, 2 or 3 yrs.

You can use the Interview scheduling tool to gauge how long you will wait in Lagos

NOTE unlike the past when you could go to nearby countries to renew your F1 visas, now that won't be possible unless you meet the special cases criteria in the notice.
You must return to your country of residence if you need to renew your F1 or apply for any other NON IMMIGRANT VISA.

So if you are in the US on a non-immigrant visa and you need to renew that visa to another non immigrant visa you can not go to Mexico or Canada consulate to book an appointment as students used to do. You would have to go back to your country of residence or nationality

Did you fill her DS 160 form?
If not then I'm sure she wrote her correct date of birth on her DS160

Your question isn't clear. You said documents have been submitted so what additional documents need to be submitted?

If the husband is not going then there is nothing to submit for him.

Pls go with your baby and take his own documents with you , plus his passport. They will usually allow you to do his appointment with yours on the same day.

I had my TB test in February to expire August 27th in preparation of traveling to the UK last May but the admission was differed to September. For my Visa processing on August 11th, I uploaded the same TB test cert as it was still valid then and thank God my VISA was approved.
My question is, is it safe to travel with this expired TB test because I learnt immigration do ask for some of this thing? Will it still be tenable or I should do another test before I travel?

Did you see the requirements there when you did it online.
It states there the exact type of documents required..


Better go to high court and do age declaration or go to your local NPC with your hospital birth certificate and get NPC attestation of birth.


Then go back to immigration with the corrected copy

It's for family member, the rep who set it up keeps saying it's from head office that she will followup.
It's been one month now.
No response to emails.

I followed some of the advice shared here, and honestly, it worked like magic. They are now reaching out to me. several calls, apologies, and even prompt responses to my emails from different quarters.

I can’t help but wonder what went wrong initially, but I’ll leave that to mystery. What matters is that I’ve now been assured I’ll be credited within 10 working days.

I’m tempted to commend their services, but I’ll hold off until the funds actually hit my account, since the process is still ongoing.

I just thought to update everyone here. Thank you all for the inputs, it were truly helpful.

Now, let me sit back with an iced Coca-Cola and some Gala while waiting for the funds.

Please if F11 applicant is married and has marriage certificate. Will the embassy know if the applicant doesn't tell them. I mean if they do their own background check will they know?

Yes, Embassy will know when they do background check. You would just be moved to F3. Hopefully this background check is not after your interview


Even if they don't find out. The F1 applicant would find it difficult filing for 'husband' after getting green card. That is going back to marry and then applying for husband with the wait
