Wanted to share for prospective students and those with visas already.

There's increased vetting even afteryou get into the US so keep your social media clean.
You're a student..focus on that. The US has great opportunities focus on that, not politics and hype .

Secondly stay away from anything that will get you involved with police
Eg .. drinking, driving after drinking, fights, theft, shoplifting, fraud, driving with suspended license.
It's not being smart it's being foolish. Your student visa can be revoked

Be of good character...if you had no character before go and learn it before you leave Nigeria.

Please I just got this refusal mail.

Honestly I'm speechless.

My bank statement clearly reflects my salary and the VO says he can't find it on the bank statement.

For the home ties I submitted my children's birth certificates, landed documents, letter of introduction from place of work, a letter from my church headquarters, as I'm a prophet in my church...with pictures.

Purpose of visit was to go visit my wife who's a student.

Please, I will appreciate any contribution on how to tackle this
Your children's birth certificates doesn't prove home ties

Did you write a letter about where your children are living right now..are they in school, on vacation

Secondly did you check your bank statements to see if even you can identify your salary as a credit, if it's there then highlight salary credits when you reapply

Do you work for yourself ? Are you paid monthly?

Nothing actually it is just a means japa, it is not related to either PhD or master's
Then tensa is right. You need to plan the end from the beginning.

If your goal is PhD in a foreign country then plot that as your end result.
Then work backwards
What PhD course and which country would give options to reside there permanently ?
What does that PhD require for admission ?

Answer to the above will determine your options.

PhD is not beans..it serious study you can't rough it.

Forget about what immigration rules can be in 2 yrs time, you don't have control over that.

What you can do is do the research on these two questions and plot your pathways from where you are now to the end result.

Don't waste 12k euro over nothing.

I'm wondering what's driving your thoughts with these options

If he doesn't have an income he can look at states that provide resources to permanent residents or those who are homeless .

Got U.S. C1/D Visa Before, But Denied B1/B2 3 Times + F1 Recently – Need Advice

posting to get some more inputs

Hello Nairalanders,

Please I need honest and constructive advice on my U.S. visa journey.

So far, I’ve been denied the U.S. visa 4 times, and I’ve been approved once.

Here’s a breakdown:

I was granted a C1/D visa (transit/crew visa) earlier in my career. ( which i used to go across several Us cites for work and to the Caribbeans also)

I’ve applied 3 times for the B1/B2 visa (visitor/tourist) before getting the job that requires the C1/D1 and was denied each time.

Most recently, I applied for an F1 student visa, and for masters degree program to further my career prospects and that was also denied.

I’m now planning to apply again for the F1 visa and I’m trying to understand what I may be doing wrong, and how best to approach the interview this time.

What can I do to show my genuine intentions ?

Please, I’d appreciate advice on:

What are visa officers looking for when it comes to F1 visas?

Could my past B1/B2 denials affect my current chances?

How can I show strong ties to Nigeria even though my mother lives in the U.S.?

How can I answer my family ties and mum in the US question?

Should I wait before reapplying or go ahead and try again soon?

Any tips on how to explain my past visa history without looking suspicious?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has worked with agents/lawyers that helped, feel free to share as well.

I’m serious about doing this the right way and would be grateful for any help or guidance.

Thanks and God bless.
Do you know the status of your mum in the US?
Is she legally there?
How long?

Youd have to share your transcript for the F1 so others might see hwat you could have done better

How do you intend to pay for a Master's? Wheres rhe funding coming from.

What exactly should I do to get the passport production faster?
Go to the passport office and say you are there for collection.. Go with the slip they gave you for collection . Say ypu are there for collection ignore the tracker.

Its probably ready , the tracker doesn't always update in real time.

After submitting the additional documents they asked me to submit after my interview, my Visa got approved (1st of July) exactly 2 months after submission.

It was like a dream come through when a lady called from the embassy to give me the good news. I had thought I was going to be in for a long time due to all the negative comments I have been reading on all immigrant Visa forum on Facebook and other social media platforms about administrative processing. But God made my case different.

My Visa expires on the 11th of August exactly 6 months from the day I did my medical. When I went to collect my Visa, the lady at the DHL office told me the Visa expiration date started counting from the day I did my medical as opposed to the day the Visa was issued.

Thank you @Aestake and @Taal17, you guys have been immensely helpful throughout the process. I appreciate y'all.

Please I would love if anyone can suggest herbal or english medicine she can take.

Note
She has been TTCing for almost 10years now.

Thank you sabi mamas as I await your advise.
When you say she has tried English medicine what do you mean?
Is she self medicating?

Has she seen a gynaecologist?
Does she know if she's ovulating?
That you have a period does not mean you are ovulating

She needs to get proper medical advice and do tests to know what she has.

Preferably go to an ivf clinic so she can at least have a diagnosis.

For all you know she might just have PCOS or all this trying different things has affected her hormonal balance. Her partner nko?

My payment shows it’s valid but it’s not letting me confirm it but they asked me to cancel and restart a new one that it will automatically detect the payment. Is it safe to do that pls cos I don’t want to forfeit the large sum I paid for my wife and myself.
Nice of you to offer this here.

A tip though, if do get someone older ensure you get them checked especially if they are diabetic and or have hypertension so they can take their meds and you do regular BP monitoring.

A lot of Nigerians have undiagnosed hypertension or simply don't take their meds

Good evening, everyone. I have written for emergency date since 4th of this month and am yet to get any response from the embassy. I raised a ticket to complain about it, and they responded saying if my message was received, I would get a message on my account under notification and my email, which am yet to receive. I try send another message for the emergency date; I was told I already have a pending message. Yesterday I raised another ticket, and I got this response. " Dear Applicant, thank you for contacting the U.S. Visa and American Citizens Support Service. We understand you have submitted an emergency request for an expedited visa appointment and have not yet received an update. We have noticed that you’ve submitted several tickets regarding this issue. To prevent multiple and duplicate escalations, we will now close this ticket. Rest assured that your concern has been escalated to our support desk for further assistance. Please refer to ticket number (SEPNMZPFKH). Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please visit www.usvisaappt.com for further details. Best Regards, U.S. Visa and American Citizens Support Service". the ticket I am asked to refer to, was the first time I complained, and the response was what I stated above. please I don't know what to do and my school resumes 19 August.

Good Day Fam, Regarding this new travel ban warning, I have some questions> 1) When Can someone transfer his case to another country(before or after the ban?.( 2) Who has insights if Nigeria will meet up the requirements before the Ban takes effect?. Thanks in anticipation.
Till details of the ban if it is coming come out you won't know which visa categories it affects.

So there's little you can do to preempt it, till details come out.

This proposed ban would give some countries time to address concerns raised so it's too early to tell.

Is he a criminal? Was he ever convicted? You see nothing wrong in having someone arrested ...deported and imprisoned without being charged. In case you don't know .... Every person in the US has the right to due process. The protests that are sweeping the US is not about .deporting illegal immigrants.... but the methods they are using ...basically abducting residents based on ethnicity .... and not allowing them due process. That's against the constitution. Note...he has been charg d...anybody can be charged with trumped up charges ... to be convicted is a different matter.

You need to provide better iniformation.

What do you mean they failed to renew her student visa?

Firstly you can not renew your student visa in the US.
you are still a student as long as you are still studying and remain in the US. You can change schools , do another degree as long as you are still studying.

The need to RENEW your student visa if it has expired only arises if you are traveling outside the US , then in that case you book an appointment and apply to renew at a US consulate outside the US by travelling there.

This is different from a F1 student visa being CANCELLED in the US

Visas are useful for BORDER ENTRY. Whilst inside the US it's your i94 that determines your status

Very funny. I laughed reading this. Oga, get better information please. We are not talking about political parties in the first place. And by the way, was Raegan a Democrat? George Bush was a Republican. What about some others that you misrepresented?

Read the below:

“ US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statistics show Biden oversaw 1.3 million more deportations during his first two years in office than Trump achieved during his entire first term. Obama also deported 30,000 more than Trump during his first four years.

Trump’s administration deported 3.13 million people during his first term. In comparison, Obama deported 3.16 million, while Biden deported 4.44 million individuals in 2021 and 2022. The sharp increase under Biden is partly attributed to coronavirus public health measures that expedited the removal of individuals deemed “public health risks.”

The Biden administration revived deportation practices reminiscent of early Obama-era policies. For the first time in more than a decade, the majority of removals under Biden involved “voluntary returns,” where migrants admitted to entering the US unlawfully but were allowed to leave without receiving formal removal orders.

While Obama was frequently labeled the “deporter-in-chief,” critics have dubbed Biden the “returner-in-chief.” Under Biden, deportations have spanned more than 170 countries, potentially setting a record.

When accounting for deportations, expulsions and measures to block unauthorized entries, Biden’s administration oversaw nearly 4.4 million repatriations. The figure already surpasses totals from any single presidential term since George W. Bush’s second term, which reached 5 million. The increased enforcement, however, has contributed to an immigration court backlog of 3.6 million pending removal cases.

Trump’s deportation numbers during his first term lagged significantly behind Biden’s. Daily border encounters at the end of Biden’s tenure ranged from 1,200 to 1,400, compared to 2,253 encounters logged in the first three days of Trump’s second term, according to DHS data.

In his second inaugural address, Trump vowed to declare a national emergency at the US southern border and pledged to halt all illegal entries. “We will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came,” he said.

Trump’s administration has already resumed deportation flights, repatriating migrants to countries such as Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. Immigration raids targeting undocumented migrants have also been conducted in the states of Arizona, California, Texas, New York and Colorado”.

Now, Trump has promised to deport between 11 and 15 million people in his second term. The numbers have started counting. I laugh at your myopic information. By the time he’s through with his second tenure, he would have far surpassed Biden and Obama.

Nobody says that it is appropriate to reside in another country without the requisite documents. You must understand that obtaining the necessary documents are processes that take time. Many undocumented persons are in the processes of obtaining their permanent residencies. Many with valid visas have been reportedly deported. Many legitimate Americans have been faced with threats of deportations. Too many cases are in court. Citizenship by birthright, the same process that kept Trump and his children in America is under threat. It is their country, it is their business.

Do you even read wide or ask questions about events in the world? Or you just read headlines and draw your conclusions.
The major reasons why undocumented migrants dontbahve their papers is because
1. Immigration laws in the USA encourage a backlog of cases, cases and court dates can be pushed to 2 or 3 or 4 dates in the future. The processes do not favor speedy resolution of cases and appeals just add to it.
Lawyers make a killing from defending clients
Appeals and other processes
2. Immigration is a political club that both parties use to fight but it is obvious they dont want reform. Stonewalling every bill .
And this affects LEGAL migration
Check timelines for Familly migration routes for consular processing..5-20years in that loop for what? Or even some employment based routes running on 2 or 3yrs. Why?
If you enter overstay , adjust status and wait on the backlog for Immigration law whilst in the US with appeals and paroles you will still get your documnets before someone outside the US MIGRATING LEGALLY will get called for visa interview
