RomanceI Can't Communicate With My Girlfriend by Talk2Bella(op): 3:38pm On Oct 09, 2016
Dear Bella,

Good job I see you doing. I have a problem (hide my info, will you please) I love my girlfriend so much that it will hurt me to see her cry or lack but the thing there is, I am not a communicative person. I can stay days on end and I won't call, text or even say hi whereas she is on my speed dial. It is not ego (I guess my past relationship is causing me this setback) cause I have tried every way I can to erase it from my head but I can't. I am not a selfish person, I love her too much she sees it but asks why I do not call, I tell her it is just me (so guys have this communication problem and don't know how to handle it)

I see her, and I am happy to go the world for her, climb the highest mountain and all that but as soon as she is gone, I fall back into my old state of not talking to her. I think my main fear is showing too much love (which I already showed her) and I don't want it to be seen as weakness as I am a sucker for love and if I got my sights on 1 girl, there is no amount of seduction/temptation that will take my eyes off her. I did show my previous relationship too much affection by calling and smsing all day (like say I nor get work!) and it was taken for granted and then again....how do people in relationships do it? What do they really talk about? I know too much of everything can make one sick, I just want to let her know that i am always there anytime even if i am not close to her, I can still do what is expected of me.

I need advice as I am scared of losing her. How do I connect with her?

Thank you

PS: Hide my info please; she is an ardent reader of your blog.

Talk2Bella

You mentioned you aren't a communicative person in the first paragraph but further down your story, you admitted your reason for your lack of communication was caused from your last relationship which stems on the saying, "once bitten, twice shy"

You see, in life, most especially in relationships, communication really matters a lot; it soothes relationships and increases the bond you both have for each other. Nothing stops you from picking your phone and just saying a hello, u never know; only that might just make her day fulfilled. People who are in normal relationships communicate about their problems, their joys, they tease each other, flirt with each other, or even so, they fight as well, it's still part of communication. Trying to please someone all day doesn't make sense. Silence as well is still part of communication!

I really don't foresee anything wrong with your relationship just the way you have painted it, but you should improve on the points I’ve mentioned out for you and try to reach out to her let her know what’s up about your day to day activities. If you are worried about airtime, social media has put facilities such as Voice calls, video chats and voice SMS that can aid in communication as well. Please try as much as possible to open up your heart to her so she should understand your shortcomings. ‎If you continue to shut her out, someone else might take her away from you.

Goodluck.

PoliticsI Am Nigerian And A Feminist. by Talk2Bella(op): 12:10am On Oct 09, 2016
Feminism in Nigeria is completely overrated and underrated, it is a conception that has been clearly misunderstood by people who do not know its true meaning, they believe feminism in Nigeria has to do with disobeying men or being stubborn towards one’s spouse you hear conversations like this,

Man1: she will remain single forever

Man2: her mates are getting married and she’s claiming to be a feminist

Man1: feminism cannot thrive in Nigeria, this is Africa and the men come first

Man2: will feminism keep her warm at night?

This is my first blog post on feminism so I will give a detailed description of feminism according to Wikipedia, and then I will state my own interpretation of feminism so you and I can comprehend what feminism is about.

According to Wikipedia, Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social rights for women that are equal to those of men. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment.

Why have women been looked down upon for so many years, you pay men higher, you regard men higher, you give men more rights than women and you expect silence forever, is it any surprise that most men claim to be feminist these days? The feminist movement is a growing one, and it keeps getting larger by the day.

My perception of feminism is about equal rights, equal rights to same pay, equal rights to same job opportunities, equal rights to same health facilities, equal rights regarding our cultures and traditions.

This is a continued movement, and this is my feminist first post, expect more from me, expect more from women, expect more from the world.

Xiadnat:
You cannot make anyone fall in or profess love with you.

You are doing all these things for him and he has not noticed (or have but ignoring), and has not made a move that you want him to. Thats because he just doesnt feel it not because he doesnt notice the things you do.

He is prolly professing love or pinning after a girl who gives not even rats ass about him.

That's the irony of life. We often ignore those in front of us and go those out of reach.

You have 2 options: continue doing these out of goodness of your heart until you tire or retreat and save the energy for the man who will care.

Funny thing is tho: later on, if you are truly a good person, the person will return after they realize they made a mistake...... too often too late.

Get to stepping, no need vocalizing anything to him. He knows, he just doesnt care as much you do or as much as you want him too.

Such is life.
I don't buy this idea, this Nigerian mentality has got to stop, many people have lost out on great relationships because of this mindset.

So she tells him and he says no she moves on at least she made a move

Move on n let d friendship flow as I said earlier. My opinion tho. smiley

Hi Bella,

I am trying to get this guy to fall in love with me, I have tried everything, from giving him free food, going on stupid errands for him, following him to church, washing clothes and sweeping his house.

But I am not ready to give up yet, he doesn’t have a girlfriend so I know he’s free but I wonder why he isn’t noticing me, what do you think I should do? I have given him all the signs possible to mankind but he’s just blind to it.

We just started the university together, both in 100 level, he’s my first and only friend and I don’t want other campus girls to snatch him before he falls in love with me.

Talk2Bella

You have tried everything except opening your mouth and actually telling him how you feel. He’s not going to notice anything because he sees you as a friend and wouldn’t want to step out of his boundaries.

Doing all those things won’t move him, he believes a friend is doing it for him and I am sure he has reciprocated in other ways, just tell him how you feel and see how it goes from there alright.

Just know this might go two ways, he might either say no and then you become embarrassed about it or he says yes and things work out well, giving him signs just aren't enough, but if you're willing and brave enough to tell a Nigerian guy you have feelings for him my dear go ahead and do it.
