Technology Market › Re: How Long Before Your 5 Kw Solar Investment Pays Itself Back? by tanigororo: 9:59pm On Sep 06, 2025 |
Primistine: In other words, I'm saying, if you spend X million setting up a solar system for yourself, how long before you spend that same amount, say if you're buying fuel every day to power a gen set.
Quick context and assumptions We are modelling a typical 5 kW PV system for a 3-bedroom house with some night storage. For this particular scenario, deciding between a lead-acid (tubular) battery or a lithium battery doesn't make much difference, but I've added prices nonetheless. The inverter is a 5 kVA hybrid.
Fuel price for petrol generators is taken as ~₦850–₦900 per litre. Small genset fuel burn for a 5–6.5 kVA unit is estimated at 1.5–3 L/hr, depending on load; we use 2.0 L/hr as a conservative everyday average for calculations.
For a 5kW solar system, you may spend upwards of N6million. (Check image below)
So, depending on your current use of gen to power your house, your spending on fuel should look like this:
1) Light users: 2 hours/day → 4 L/day → ₦3,600/day → ≈ ₦1,314,000/year.
2) Moderate users: 4 hours/day → 8 L/day → ₦7,200/day → ≈ ₦2,628,000/year.
3) Heavy use: 8 hours (or more)/day → 16 L/day → ₦14,400(or more)/day → ≈ ₦5,256,000(or more)/year.
So, moment of truth...If you spent, say ₦5,890,000 for a 5kW solar system with the number of components as suggested in the image, it would take: 4.48 years, if you're a light generator user using 2 hours/day → 4 L/day 1.12 years if you're a heavy generator user using 16 L/day → ₦14,400(or more)/day
PS: Of course, there's a lot of simplification and assumption in this example, so please take note that real-world results will vary.
So, over to you? Is worth switching to solar? Nice analysis, how about other silent costs not included in your calculations: Cost of going to buy fuel? Cost of Generator Maintenance? Cost of buying the generator itself? Sanity Cost nkọ? Noise Health Cost? All these carries financial cost too. |

We love the prophet of Allah hence we follow his Sunnah and refuse to join you in such celebrations he never did!

Islam › Re: In Support Of Honouring The Birthday Of The Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) by tanigororo: 7:31pm On Sep 05, 2025 |
GreenCovering: As gathered from evidences presented by various scholars of Ahlus Sunna Wal Jamaa
The Holy Quran states: Say, 'O Prophet,' (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) “In Allah’s 'grace' and 'mercy' let them 'rejoice'. That is far better than whatever 'wealth' they amass.” - Qur'an 10:58
One tafsir of this ayah can be found as follows:
Tafsir: Regarding this, there is a Hadith from Sayyidina Anas (radi Allahu ta'ala anh) where it has been reported that the Holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said, 'fadl', (grace), of Allah denotes the Qur'an and 'rahmah' (mercy) means that you were blessed with the taufiq (ability) of reciting the Qur'an and acting in accordance with it.' - Ruh al-Ma`ani from Ibn Marduwayh
Other tafsirs of the same ayah plus corroborating ayahs that strengthen this position can be found as follows:
And Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu ta'ala anh) narrates that 'fadl' means the Qur'an, and 'rahmah' refers to the Holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) [himself]... - Maarif-ul-Quran
The below verse also refers directly to the holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) as the 'mercy' of Allah;
The Holy Quran states: And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad] (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam), except as a 'mercy' to the 'worlds'. - Qur'an 21:107
Sayyidina Ibn 'Umar (radi Allahu ta'ala anh), has reported that the Holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said that is "I am the blessing sent by Allah so that I lift up the people, who obey Allah, and humble the other people, who disobey Allah. - Ibn Kathir
The declaring of the Holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) as the 'mercy' of Allah is 'universal', and was not restricted only to those present there or living with him at the time. Instead, it included even the generations that will be born right through to the last day of Qiyamah. - Ruh al-Ma`ni
And as expained by respected elders in the deen highlighting the specific use of the phrace 'mercy on to the worlds', these include the world of the angels, the world we were in, the world we are in now, the world we shall arrive to, and the world of other creatures in any form.
Iblis cried loudly four times, 'first' when Allah declared him as cursed, 'second' when he was thrown out, 'third' when Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) was born and 'fourth' when surah Fatiha was revealed - Ibn Kathir in Al Bidayah wan Nihayah, Volume 2, Page No. 166.
Thus a muslim should not find himself in the above group of people because shaytan (and his followers) is the only being not happy with the birth of the holy Propphet Muhammad (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam).
Hence without any doubt the arrival of Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is mercy not only upon us but all worlds and creations of Allah and it is source of rejoicing for his (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) followers.
The days when Anbiya are born are days of 'Salam':
The Holy Quran states: And 'salam', peace, be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive. - Qur'an 19:15
Honouring the day the holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is born is rewarding:
Narrated 'Ursa; Thuwaiba was the freed slave girl of Abu Lahb whom he had manumitted (freed), and then she suckled the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). When Abu Lahb died, one of his relatives saw him in a dream in a very bad state and asked him, "What have you encountered?" Abu Lahb said, "I have not found any rest since I left you, except that I have been given water to drink in this (the space between his thumb and other fingers) and that is because of my manumitting Thuwaiba." - Muslims Volume 7, Book 62, Number 38 and Sahih Bukhari
Abu Lahab freed Thuwaiba on the joy of the birth of holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) prior to his defiant stance against Islam later. So even the worst of Kufaar and greatest of enemy of Islam is given relaxation from his punishments due to freeing Thawaiba. Therefore imagine the situation of a mu'min who rejoices on Mawlid. - Sahih Bukhari
The birth of the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) is among the signs of Allah:
We have learnt many of the miraculous events that happened to herald the birth of the holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) such as the 'extinguishing' of the Persion worship fire that had been kept burning for thousand of years, the collapse of 360 idols around the Ka'aba and the shaking of the throne of most of the world kings of the time, the destruction of Abraha's army among other events.
The Holy Quran states: By your life, (O prophet) they are wandering blindly in their intoxication (misguidance)... - Qur'an 15:72
Allahu ta'ala has not bestowed on anyone in the whole creation an honour and rank higher than that of Sayyidna Muhammad Mustafa (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). This is the reason why Allahu ta'ala has never sworn by the life of any prophet or angel, while in this verse, He has sworn by the age and life of the Holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) - which is the highest conceivable honour and deference accorded him. - Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu ta'ala anh), Maarif-ul-Quran
Therefore his birth is certainly a major sign from Allahu ta'ala.
What the holy Qur'an says about venerating, honouring, a sign of Allahu ta'ala:
The Holy Quran states: ..whoever respects the signs of Allah, this surely is (the outcome) of the piety of hearts. - Qur'an, 22:32
So it can be seen that honouring the birthday of the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) not only is it rewarding, it can also purify our 'eeman' before Allahu ta'ala.
Analogy for "If the Prophet, (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) and the sahaba (radi Allahu ta'ala anh) did not do it, then I will not...":
Ibn Abbas "Allah be pleased with him" reported: The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) came to Madina and saw the Jews fasting on the tenth day of Muharram. They were asked about that. They replied: "This is the day, on which Allah made Moses and the children of Israel emerge victorious over Pharoah. So, we fast on it "OUT OF GLORIFICATION TO IT". The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "We have more claim over Moses than you." So, he ordered Muslims to fast on it. - In Sahih Muslim, Volume 2, Page No. 147, Hadith No. 1130 (Dar ul Kutab al Ilmiyyah).
What is in focus here is the 'basis' for doing the action, not the action that was done. It can be seen that the holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) 'validated' the 'basis' for which the (later generation) Jews were performing the fasting even though their prophet, nabi Musa (alaihissalam), and earlier generation, did not do this fasting. In the case of mawlid Nabiy, there is even a stronger 'basis' for marking and honouring it because it is commanded in the holy Qur'an to rejoice on it.
Creation of Adam (alaihissalam) honoured and connected to the term 'Eid':
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (saw) as saying:
The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday, on it Adam was 'created', on it he was made to enter Paradise, on it he was expelled from it. - Sahih Muslim Book 7, Hadith 26
So Allahu ta'ala has attached honour to day prophets are born e.g. Friday as we all know today as a day of 'Eid', that is, of rejoicing among muslims.
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'This day is an 'Eid (festival) which Allah has ordained for the Muslims. Whoever comes to Friday (prayer), let him take a bath and if he has perfume then let him put some on. And upon you (I urge to use) is the tooth stick."
Grade : Hasan (Ibn e majah Book 5, Hadith 1152)
Narrated Abu 'Ubaid: Then I witnessed the 'Id with 'Uthman bin 'Affan, and that was on a Friday. He offered the prayer before the sermon, saying, "O people! Today you have two Eids together, so whoever of those who live at Al-'Awali (suburbs) would like to wait for the Jumua prayer, he may wait, and whoever would like to return (home) is ranted my permission to do so."
(Sahih al-Bukhari Vol. 7, Book 68, Hadith 479)
Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Two Eids ('Id and Friday) have synchronised on this day. If anyone does not want to offer the Friday prayer, the 'Id prayer is sufficient for him. But we shall offer the Friday prayer. This tradition has been narrated by 'Umar from Shu'bah.
Grade : Sahih (Sunan Abi Dawud 1073 Book 2, Hadith 684)
UNDERSTANDING THE HADITH OF BID'A:
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Najih al-Irbad bin Sariyah (ra) who said:
"The Messenger of Allah (saw) delivered an admonition that made our hearts fearful and our eyes tearful. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is as if this were a farewell sermon, so advise us." He said, "I enjoin you to have Taqwa of Allah and that you listen and obey, even if a slave is made a ruler over you. He among you who lives long enough will see many differences. So for you is to observe my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-principled and rightly-guided successors, holding on to them with your molar teeth. Beware of newly-introduced matters, for every innovation (bid'ah) is an error."
(Abu Dawud & Al-Tirmidhi, who says it is an authentic hadith - hasan saheeh)
THE BIRTH DATE OF THE HOLY PROPHET (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)
Al-Muttalib bin ‘Abdullah bin Qais bin Makhramah narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that he said: “I and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, were born in the Year of the Elephant” Tirmidhi (Sahih)
This is a well known event in Islamic history as occurring in the year 570 CE. The event has also been supported by modern archeological findings as a real event and the year is similarly set at 569 CE. Others are 568CE and 571 CE.
Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “It was said that he [PBUH] was born on the twelfth of the month. This was stated by Ibn Ishaq. It was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in his Musannaf from ‘Affan from Sa‘eed ibn Mina that Jabir and Ibn ‘Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was born in the Year of the Elephant on Monday 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal, his mission began on a Monday, he was taken up to heaven on a Monday, and he migrated on a Monday, and he died on a Monday.” - Ibn Kathir
Researchers have found that this date will more fit 9th of Rabi' al-Awwal when traced by way of calculation back to the year of the Elephant. This is why there is a variation in the dates. This is also not to say that the narration is wrong because the establishing exact year for the year of the Elephant could be important in getting an exact date also.
However, the month Rabi al-Awwal and the day of Monday are not been in doubt. Therefore, this is why mawlud events are normally organized throughout the month to seek this blessing of honouring the birthday of the holy prophet (saw) and this is not strange to muslims as we similarly seek laylatul Qadr this way.
WHAT OUR UNDERSTANDING SHOULD BE GUIDED BY:
Understanding: That 'newly-introduced matters' should be understood as 'NOT' having any 'basis' in the religion. In other words, something that has a basis upon which it is built can not be considered a bid'a.
Al-Harith ibn ‘Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent Mu’adh to Yemen and he said, "How will you judge?" Mu’adh said, "I will judge according to the Book of Allah." The Prophet said, "What if it is not in the Book of Allah?" Mu’adh said, "Then, with the Sunnah of the messenger of Allah." The Prophet said, “What if it is not in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah?” Mu’adh said, “Then, I will strive to form an opinion.” The Prophet said, “All praise is due to Allah, who has made suitable the messenger of the Messenger of Allah.”
Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1327 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Ibn Abdul Barr
From the hadith of Jareer (RadiAllahu Anh) in Muslim: The one who innovates a good innovation in Islam receives its reward and a reward similar to that of all those who practice with it after him without any lessening in their reward
Moreover, Caliph Umar (RA) said after he gathered the people to be led by one Imam during the Tarawih prayer: “Praised is this innovation” (Sahih Bukhari).
Through out history, this has been exemplified by other practices, once the basis is established, e.g. an example of one that is not performed by the holy Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) but which the sahaba (radi Allahu anhum) performed e.g. the compilation of the holy Qur'an into a unified book form because the basis was there as the holy Qur'an was being recorded on animal skins, flat stones etc during the time of the holy Prophet (saw) anyway and as instructed by him also and practices which the early muslims did not perform but which the latter muslims perform e.g. the use of public address systems during worship in a large mosque.
Happy Eid Mawlid 1447 May Allah Be Pleased with you and your household; and every believers who are happy to celebrate the birth of the prophet. Amin |

otipoju: Since when dog dey bite man. Complain no dey. Now men Don dey bite dog, complain com full everywhere.
Times have changed. Women who see no value in men unless he has money to give them should not expect to receive any value from men when they escape brokenness and have money.
Cunny man die cunny man bury am. Man never dey start bite dog self, man just discovered the implications of the dog bites.
AKONE: As I scroll through my social media feed these days, something deeply concerning keeps appearing. A young man known online as Gehgeh, whose real name is Emmanuel Obruste, has built a large following—especially among young men. Although he calls himself a financial coach, it’s clear his teachings go far beyond budgeting or building wealth. He openly discourages men from pursuing marriage or committing to relationships, claiming that doing so is a “financial mistake”.
What’s even more alarming is the number of people listening to him. One of his recent sessions on TikTok reportedly attracted over 170,000 live viewers, with more than 379,000 eventually tuning in. That’s not a small number. That’s influence.
He has also created what he calls the “University of Wisdom and Understanding”, where he teaches men how to avoid being manipulated by women. According to him, it’s “the only university where, once you graduate, women will fear you.” The satire may seem harmless at first glance, but when you listen closely, you realise he’s promoting a dangerous mindset: one that paints women as gold-diggers and relationships as traps. He repeatedly claims that women only need men for their money, and that once a woman becomes successful, she no longer sees any use for a man. In this distorted worldview, love is replaced by fear, partnership by suspicion, and service by selfishness.
Some of his followers have even gone as far as posting fake graduation certificates online, with course titles like “Use of English to Manipulate Girls”, “Economics and Stinginess”, and “Manipulation and Logistics”. Though meant to be satirical, the underlying message is being taken seriously: avoid emotional responsibility, don’t commit to women, and protect your wallet at all costs.
But as a Christian, I can’t stay silent. This kind of message isn’t just unwise—it’s unbiblical. It appeals to bitterness, fear, and pride, not to the Spirit of Christ. The Bible tells us plainly in 2 Timothy 4:3 that a time would come when people would no longer listen to sound teaching, but would gather around themselves teachers who say what they want to hear. Sadly, this is what we’re witnessing. Gehgeh’s teachings don’t call men to maturity or sacrifice—they call them to self-protection, greed, and emotional detachment.
James 3 warns us that not all wisdom is from above. There is a kind of wisdom that is earthly, sensual, and even demonic—marked by envy, strife, and selfish ambition. That’s the kind of “wisdom” being promoted here. It sounds clever. It might even seem like it works. But it doesn’t lead to life. It leads to broken relationships, distrust, and a generation of men who run from the very responsibilities God created them to carry.
From the beginning, God called men to lead with love, not fear. To serve, not manipulate. To protect, not avoid. Adam was placed in the garden to work and to keep it—not to hide from his assignment. Scripture calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, to lay down their lives—not their responsibilities. When young men are taught to fear commitment and view relationships as financial liabilities, we are building a culture that dishonours God and destroys families before they even begin.
I’m not saying there aren’t real challenges in relationships or that some men haven’t been hurt. But healing doesn’t come from building walls. It comes from submitting to God’s truth and allowing Him to renew our minds. Avoiding marriage or demonising women won’t solve the problem—it only creates new ones. What young men need isn’t a fake certificate from a satirical university. They need discipleship. They need truth. They need Jesus.
We should be alarmed when millions are tuning in to voices that train them to run from the very calling God has placed on their lives. We need more godly men who will stand up and show a better way—through character, humility, and love. If we don’t, others will fill the gap, and the cost will be high.
The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Any so-called wisdom that teaches you to fear women instead is already heading down the wrong path. Let’s not allow satire to disciple a generation. Let’s go back to the Word. When will you complain Biblically of the female gender manipulations. |
