TV/MoviesRe: What Was The Last Movie You Watched? by Tatase(f): 7:54pm On Apr 01, 2010
Rachel Getting Married- I thought it was going to be heavy or too dramatic, but it wasn't, I actually really liked it!

Music/RadioRe: Lady Gaga - Telephone Video Ft Beyonce by Tatase(f): 7:16pm On Apr 01, 2010
I really liked the video too, although it had absolutely nothing to do with the song and was kind of colourfully random. Before the video was released, Gaga was like she felt bad for the Bad Romance video because this one is so much better: about that, yeah this one is nice, but I actually think the Bad Romance video is better (love love love that one!)

AND this one was supposed to be a sort of sequel to Paparazzi, but I don't really see it. . .

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Terry Lucky To Be Alive – Tevez by Tatase(f): 3:13am On Mar 06, 2010
I've been wondering what Tevez's business is in the matter. Did John Terry sleep with his wife? Is Wayne Bridge now his best friend? And even then all this crying louder than the bereaved. What's with this his Voltron he's been doing? He needs to pipe down.

I'm so over this whole Terry/Bridge matter. Yes JT is a betrayer and WB will never forgive him. We get it. The only thing I'm interested in hearing about is the other Chelsea/England footballers the chick was with. Otherwise, it's become very blah blah blah.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Your Preferred Epl Fourth Place Finisher by Tatase(f): 3:02am On Mar 06, 2010
Quite frankly, I'd rather Villa came fourth. I've long admired Martin O'Neil and I like what he's done at Villa. I do not like "'Arry" and can't say I care too much for Tottenham, but I'd even prefer Tottenham coming 4th over Liverpool or City, if Villa doesn't take it.

Unfortunately, however much I'd prefer Villa, I see City clawing their way to that 4th spot at the end of the season. (fingers crossed I'm wrong in this prediction and villa takes it!)
RomanceRe: Can I Marry This Girl - Are We Related? by Tatase(f): 2:00am On Mar 06, 2010
I don't see it as weird myself. She's not your blood relative. She's your aunty's husband's relative. If she was your relative, your aunty would not have been able to marry from that family either.

Personally I see nothing wrong with it, unless it's against some rule in your culture. I've know in-laws to marry in Nigeria. In fact two sisters married two brothers (one sister met the groom's brother at her sisters wedding and it started from there) and apart from a few jokes at the second wedding, no one said anything.
FashionRe: Pls Do Eyelash Curlers Really Work Wonders? by Tatase(f): 11:48pm On Mar 05, 2010
Eyelash curlers DO work on natural lashes. I don't use mine often at all because I don't normally make that much of an effort when it comes to make up. They make your eyes seem more "open" somehow and your lashes a little more prominent/organized.

Put on all your eye make up except the mascara. Then warm your eyelash curler with a blow dryer for a few seconds, touch it to make sure its warm (not burning hot, like not hot enough to burn your eyelids!) and then use it to grip upper lashes for like 20seconds. It really makes a difference.

Then I use either a very thin application of Vaseline (a fast, cheap way to set eyelashes, curled or not) or apply mascara. I actually mostly go for the Vaseline trick to replace the curler and mascara now.

Eyelash curlers will work cold too, so don't feel you have to warm it if you can't: just hold your lashes for some extra seconds.
FashionRe: Geek Clear Glasses Look- Hot Or Not? by Tatase(f): 11:02pm On Mar 05, 2010
chic2pimp:
It Depends.
The Geeky look looks Hot on Beautiful people however it Looks ridiculous on Fugly peeps.
That's true, more or less. Although I wouldn't have put it as bluntly.

I actually think anyone can rock the geek glasses look, but only hot people can pull it off effortlessly, wearing them with whatever. If "normal" people are going to go for the geeky glasses, you have to be really fashionable and your style has to be on point.

I say they're HOT. But kind of an effort to pull off. . . it's a fine line between looking hot and looking stupid with them.
FashionRe: Favorite Lip Glosses by Tatase(f): 10:32pm On Mar 05, 2010
Lip gloss or lip balm? (because people have said vaseline and i wouldn't call it lip gloss per se). I mostly use lip balm over a touch of lipstick but here are my faves:

Fave lip balm (vaseline-esque product)- Carmex (basically lip magic for chapped lips and smooths too)

Fave lip gloss- L'Occitane Cherry Blossom (lasts long, isn't sticky, has a nice very light and natural tint, makes lips look dewy as opposed to oily and shiny, smells and tastes really really good).

I know you don't like err dark broody novels. . .but I think you should read Lionel Shriver's ''we need to talk about kevin''.

Can't recommend it enough. Hope your fragile constitution can take it though tongue tongue It won the orange too.
I just did a little checking on We Need To Talk About Kevin, and. . . Ok NO! I don't think so! I can occasionally do dark and broody (like war or prison or some "light torture" or stuff like that). But I can't go that dark and that broody especially when you know what's coming the entire book, and there's really no upside.

I'm still traumatized from The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz (6 months after reading it), another prize-winning book that is actually really reader-friendly, and really good, and actually a bit funny in parts, but will depress the life out of you. Kai, NO!!!!You're right I'm too "fragile" (lol) for it, I can't deal.

Those major prize-winners tend to be more. . . um. . . edifying to the mind, than appealing to any entertainment sensibilities.

I watched Cold Mountain before I read it (bad I know) but I adored it, so I got the book which had won lots of prizes. And it was good, but my goodness, the story is so good but it gets lost in the "give-me-a-prize-ness" of the writing style.

FashionRe: Celebs With Shaved Head....Oh My! Keyshia Cole Joins The Shaven Head Clan by Tatase(f): 8:12pm On Mar 02, 2010
I like Keysha Cole's and Rihanna's, and that's it. I think the partially-shaved head looks better with shorter/medium-length hair. When the hair is long like Lala's and Cassie's and Mel B, it looks like the scalp had a disease in the bald areas or like they started to shave their own heads weave and all a la psycho Britney, and then changed their minds.

As for Mel B's child. . . what was done to that little girl is not good o. It looks like traditional lice treatment on the sides. . . like they really gorimapa'd the sides of the mohawk, didn't even leave a hairline for that poor little girl.
FashionRe: I'm Trying To Make It In The Fashion World Via Make-up.any Suggestions? by Tatase(f): 7:59pm On Mar 02, 2010
1.) Do you have a book? I mean like a catalogue/album of some of your work? If you don't, you should start one. It would be really beneficial to you if people can see several samples/ a range of your work (from conventional make up like weddings and parties, to more editorial artistic type things).

2.) Once you have a few pictures, select 2-3 of your best, and make fliers and handouts which you can take to bridal shops, clothes shops, photographers studios, recording studios, modelling agencies, wedding/events planners, church, wherever, and have them put them at their front desk, so that people can pick them up and see what you do. When you're going to drop off your fliers always take your book with you just in case, so that the shop owners know you're serious.

3.) Once your book has developped a little, try to get an appointment to see the style editor at a magazine or newspaper via e-mail or phone (or if you're really bold and brazen, you can just show up- an acquaintance of mine did this and got freelance work styling for both ThisDay's Style and Next's Elan). Make sure you state you are a make up artist and that you have a catalogue of the work you do and were wondering if they would want to take a look at it. People who have catalogued work tend to get taken more seriously that people who just talk big talk and show one or two bad photographs where you can barely see the make up.

4.) From what I've heard, word of mouth is your biggest outlet. So treat whatever clients you do have already well. Encourage them to spread the word. Depending on the size of your church, you may be able to get into the announcements or on the bulleting. Start a facebook page for your work. Put up pictures of the work you do, and invite all your friends to join, this will let your friends near and far see how good you are and refer you to people. My friend is a part-time make up artist now (a full-time banker) all from posting an album of the make up she did on friends and family on her facebook page.

I just felt irritated with Hortense. She was sooooooo obnoxious. I liked Gilbert, though. I LOL-ed at the end where Queenie made her request completely out of the blue (the "wtf, how can we leave this psycho's parlor" feeling G and H had. . .) even though it felt a bit inappropriate because she was distraught etc. The book was good sha, its the kind of thing that whilst I was reading it, I couldn't stop talking about it and kind of harassed everyone I know with it.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Champions League: Inter Milan Vs Chelsea [2 - 1] On Wed, 24 Feb by Tatase(f): 9:46pm On Feb 24, 2010
Chelsea seem to be losing the ball really easily at crucial moments.

snowdrops:
you are trying to create a debate where there is none lady

ask yourself, had that tackle been made outside the 18 yard box would it or not have been a foul?

any tackle from behind is only calling for trouble
I'm actually not trying to cause a debate. Did I say it WASN'T a penalty? I just said that Kalou made a bit of a meal of it.
