Keep Holding On- Avril Lavigne |
eldee: FL Gators:Me too to both!! They're actually both in the playlist "My Favourite Things" on my iTunes, which I've been listening to all evening.@ topic Never Too Late- Three Days Grace |
It has made me shine my eyes even brighter for Nigerian guys o. . . Pre-nairaland, I was a little more naive and took people more at face value. I hadn't realized the extent of some guys' behaviour. Na wa o!! |
I mean if I was truly in love, I guess I'd do anything, in principle, for my lover. However, I don't know if I could be in love with someone who wanted/needed people to kneel down for them. What kind of power trip is that? It's like are you God, should I also pray to you? For me, if I don't believe you're sorry (and not just sorry you got caught out), I don't care how much you kneel, beg, crawl, it's not about the show, it's about whether or not you actually feel sorry. An honest "I'm sorry" means infinitely more than kneeling down just for the sake of it. |
I agree with absolutely everything Mr BrownJay has said!! Blackmailers are like cockroaches. They won't ever stop or go away until you take away their hold over you. Today it's give me money for abortion or I'll crash your wedding. Tomorrow, it will be give me money or I'll tell your wife about the abortion. Or your in-laws. The demands won't stop you'll see. At the same time, I think you should come clean with your fiancee not just because you've acted really shady and that's no way to start married life, but also just in case this girl decides to follow through with her threats. It's better your real chick hears it from you, than from someone else. Remove her hold over you so you can stop sneaking around and worrying about your smallie. |
Unwell- Matchbox Twenty |
Break The Ice- Britney Spears |
Right Thurr- Chingy |
Play Dirty- Sandra Brown I'm re-reading it. Finished 20 Fragments really quickly and so still trying to decide what to start next. |
I think it's a good idea. The clubs from 4th-7th are usually kind of the same caliber of team. It will make things a little more interesting in terms of the English teams going to the CL. Plus, I'll never say no to having more football at the end of the season. |
Do It- Nelly Furtado |
On Top of the World- Pussycat Dolls |
Myne White:No not yet, but I've seen you promote it in another thread. It seems like something I'd like. I'll check it out and support. Well done and congrats to you! |
Polando:Because that's what most Nigerian writers feel they have to do these days to get recognition as "legitimate" authors of authentic African lit. I don't mind the metaphysical or the magic realism but when that's the only thing the book is relying on to have any value, then it doesn't make sense to me. @ topic, I feel that everyone is so busy trying to write one genre of these fantastical happenings and these psycho-cultural themes, that novels that our writers are becoming one-notes. And I understand it, because the only writers that seem to be celebrated are those that write that one genre. |
20 Fragments of a Ravenous Youth- Xiaolu Guo |
The referee is a maniac! A psychopath. Why send off Carrick? Yay we win! |
that's effed up!!! what the defense just did! Van der Saar was watching the players not the ball. . . and he's been sooooo good tonight, otherwise. |
Yay!!!!!!!!! After looking not too good most of the match, excellent Fletcher cross to Rooney- the man!!!!!! |
Excellent Cross (Valencia), Magic Header (Rooney). Come on United!!!! |
netotse:Ay, that's one of my favourites!! |
It's very difficult for me to read many Nigerian authors. Everything is so heavy-hearted and metaphysical. I mean after some of the Nigerian books I've read recently, Things Fall Apart is like easy reading. Our new authors really know how to depress the soul! -I read a Jude Dibia book (Walking With Shadows) about a gay Nigerian man who came out and had a wife and kids (it was unexpected since I didn't know what it was about before reading it, and I don't know if I was ready for it). - Helen Oyeyemi- Icharus Girl (why must everything be so weird and metaphysical). - Diana Evans- 26A (again with heroines with psychological problems) - Chimamanda Adichie <sighs> - Nigerian chick-lit author, Abidemi Sanusi (it's not excellent, but at least it's contemporary somewhat light, everyday life stuff that's relatable) - Sefi Attah (Everything Good Will Come. This is the only one I've mentioned that I'd read again.) - Ben Okri (though I wouldn't consider him "new")- I just can't do him. I've tried and I can't and frankly I don't even want to. |
High- Lighthouse Family |
Use Somebody- Pixie Lott |
A Lady of Secret Devotion- Tracie Peterson |
@ topic It's a little difficult to say because some people (e.g. the loathsome Craig Bellamy) were quite good last season and in previous seasons but didn't shine because they were playing with crap players, so you can't really say they've improved so much as the quality around them has improved. But the ones that readily come to mind (in no particular order): - James Milner (from last season to this season) - Nani (from the beginning of the season to now, he's like a completely different player) - Louis Saha (even for just getting his injury issues more under control he deserves a nod, but also overall much better this season than last) - Richard Dunne (an example of someone who was just ok at one club, but is excellent at another, yeah exchanging Lescott for him, has turned out to be excellent for Man City. . . Not! ) |
A Lady of Hidden Intent- Tracie Peterson |
Personally, I can't do it. I consider it a waste of both our times. If I know for sure it's not going anywhere, then why invest so much time and effort and energy into something that's going nowhere?? But I know lots of people male and female who are in relationships just for the sake of being in a relationship (or for the "intimacy" or because they're used to the partner in a "the-devil-you-know. . ." sort of way) even though they know it's not going anywhere. A lot of people cannot be single o. . . So they have their person who they're just with for the time being either so they're not alone or because they actually do like the person but there are too many obstacles (usually to do with family or religion or culture or something) that are in the way of it ever leading to marriage. |
Hotel Room- Mest |
Ice Cream- New Young Pony Club |
I love Gaga!! Her Fame Monster album is the 1st full album I've actually paid money for in the last 4 years. I'm not really a fan of the Video Phone song although the video is pretty cool. I like the Gaga-Beyonce duet (Telephone) on Gaga's album much better as a song, and am looking forward to that video coming out (because Lady G's videos are always the ish). |
Liquid Dreams- O-Town |
Nneka is ok, but I actually prefer Asa. I don't think either of them are particularly amazing singers, but their songs are both meaningful but since the topic says to pick one, I'll pick Asa. |
