No damage, no Life lost. that pickup can not attain that speed o.....it can only trudge. if u trottle too hard, u go chop smoke. |

Although i buy into the idea of salary cut for the legislators...but im wary of this move if its going to stop at salaries....i think salaries is just the tip of the iceberg. The main avenue these guys use to overpay themselves is through allowances etc.
stopping short at salary cut might be a smoke screen. |

Politics › Re: Buhari First 7 Horrible Acts Since Becoming President Elect by Tayeni(m): 7:59pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
naija2dabone: 1. A legion of excuses and change of promises
Since winning election, Buhari has been singing a new tune totally different from what he told us prior to the elections. From "dont expect miracles", to "my agenda threaten by falling oil prices" Now we even hear that the APC's manifestos which Nigerians voted for 'is not the bible or Qur'an which can not be change' See gobe
2. Barring AIT Old habits die hard. 'repentant democrat' indeed. The fate of even nairaland is in the balance
3. Rewarding founder of BBOG group with political appointment That the activities of this group is suspect from the start is no news but with this all doubts about their mission and aims have been cleared. They may have many lofty aims as a group but now we know that rescuing the chibok girls is not one of their aims
4. Promises Selective probes (Case in point, Sanusi's £20 billions) One of the think Buhari was accused of during the campaigns was his tendacy for selective prosecutions. Now tell me, what about the Financial Reporting Council allegations of fraudulent financial recklessness leveled against Sanusi himself including the Sanusi’s claim that it paid N38.233 billion to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Plc in 2011 for the “printing of bank notes” whereas the turnover of the entire printing and minting company group is N29.370 billion.
5.Promoting god fatherism in Nigeria political space From hanging out with OBJ to granting interview to Aljezera insinuating that OBJ is his political god father. We all know that political god fatherism is one of the bane of our national development as all political god fathers are rent seekers
6. Making Corrupt politicians the pillars of his team For some one who made all the right noises about fighting corruption to be nomination a committee filled with people with corruption cases with EFCC leave much to be desired. Even making Timipre Sylva, who is accused of stealing N19.2billion from the state treasury while he governed the state between 2007 and 2011 as the head of his team is a shame
7. Forming a parallel government. Through his actions and utterances, the incoming government was overheating the polity and carrying out actions which tend to undermine the powers of President Goodluck Jonathan. Do unto other as you wish other do to you dung |

There's not much to be excited about.... DSTV's hike in subscription fee is also a marketing strategy... same as Startime's reduction in fee. Its just a case of positioning....dstv moving to the upscale market for the elites, while others are targeting the mass market. There is no WAY these smaller guys will give u the same contents as dstv at low prices. |

mikolo80: is your business a factory(heavy duty factory o) not pure water factory what makes the bill high is because we use two premises.....hence, 2 bills every month. Which still underscores the importance of constant electricity(we were forced to locate the other half of the business which requires a coldroom in a place where power supply is relatively better). like i said.....its a small business( not heavy duty per se). |

mikolo80: GUUY IF THEM BILL YOU THE WAY THEM DE BILL PEOPLE FOR BWARI WEN NO GET METER YOUR BUSINESS GO PACK UP SHARP SHARP PPL ARE PAYING 8K FOR ALMOST NO LIGHT WHEN THEY SHOULDNT PAY MORE THAN 2K IF THEY WERE METERED LOT OF EXPLOITATION GOING ON mikolo80 i have recieved a month's bill totalling 13,000 naira for very poor power supply particularly that month.....yes i was vexed and felt slighted, but not enough to disconnect from the public power supply...why?. after my calculations i still found out its better to keep paying for the few hours of supply than to run on generator 24/7. We can only agitate for the rates to drop and for the supply to get better....but before then nko?.......here are the figures(no dogon turenci, no verbosity,no theory) True Life. i run a small business...generator consumes approx. 100 naira worth of diesel per hour.... this adds up to 2,400 naira per day.(assuming we generate power 24/7) thats 72,000 naira! per month(pleases note this particular gen can't power all the machinery at once.....so some have to be idle while we wait for power from the mains) 72,000 naira is 7 times the average bill we recieve per month frm IEDC. even if i were to triple the amount i pay to IEDC, i'd still have enough balance worth 2 times the minimum wage. This is excluding expenses on servicing and repairs. * the OP makes it sound like its cheaper to run on fuel than power frm the mains. |

Volksfuhrer: Projecting a veneer of sophistication with esoteric economic assumptions is practically useless! People on the streets are much smarter than your condescending attitude suggests.
Kindest regards you nailed it! Its a good thing to combine being booksmart with being streetsmart....It gives your sophistication that flavour. But throwing mere words up and down with no regard to reality is just an academic exercise...........in futility. He went as far as comparing Nigeria with Greece. Even with the unemployment problem in Greece.....We still have it worse here...He should xheck the statistics. I will eat my hat if he can cite a country thats industrialized on epileptic power supply. |

esere826: Now, questions for you: -Have you ever run a business before? -Are you adept at sociology and economics?
I made a glaring point in my article and response to your previous post, which you have not been able to pick this is what entrapment in assumptions cause. Try sharing the article with a sound friend and watch out for the persons reactions i dont have to even share this with friends offline....there are enough sound people here to tear your article into shreds. The first step to take on our journey to industrialization (which will in turn take care of unemployment) is to take care of the Power problem....otherwise, all the policies put in place wont work. In response to your questions *yes i 'm into business. *i dont have to be formally trained in economics and sociology to do the simple math Omeka did up there(check it out again)....my primary sch education will suffice. |
