If that is your aim, then you should have rated all the candidates and mentioned all their achievements and their disadvantages. You did not mention a single achievement of Obi or are you saying that he achieved nothing as governor?

Re: Ikoyi Tragedy and Casual Bigotry Against Yoruba Muslims: My Views, My Experiences – By Alhaja Adeola Agoro

November 6, 2021

I read Kperogi’s article with a smile playing around my lips. It brought back the contents of the second chapter of the first part of my (yet to be published) book, ‘Journey to Islam: The Journey So Far’.

While I wouldn’t say Kperogi was totally right in his submissions, I’ll say that I agree with a lot of what he said.
I was born a Christian. I converted to Islam in 2009. I have spent enough time in the Islamic religion to form an opinion about it. I can say what is right or wrong about the religion and those who practise it.

I started writing the book, ‘Journey to Islam in 2017. Then I paused. Life is a journey and you can never really capture it all until the last day, so I said, ‘Let’s see if something will change and I may have to change some things in the book’.

As Jon.Bellion said in one of his songs that I love so much, “Nothing has changed, he’s the same…” From the point of writing that book till now, let me say nothing has changed. So, let me share the second chapter of the first part of that book below:

2’Yerima and Other Influences
Long before my innocent mind began to get conscious of the fire religious strife and crisis caused by displacing people and rendering many homeless, fatherless and sending several to their early graves in Nigeria, I knew about religious marginalisation. I grew up to know about religious sentiments, influences and stigmas.
Come oh are you talking about this same Nigeria where Muslims kill Christians for fun?

The scripture has always been a book of wonders. Here is just a simple mistake from the translators of the bible. No wonder many religious sect are returning to the original scroll to confirm it authenticity. The preface of evey bible explained this. Before reading the bible. Read the preface to underrtand how the collections came about
Pls tell us what was written in the original scroll. Was it 22 years or 42 years.

If you post in here you've joined a cult and commit to using your heart and soul and mind and all your other senses to ask and knock and seek because you know you can not possibly have found it all nor found enough.

If you wish to remain in your religion, as in, if you wish to hold on to what you already know or believe, this is not the cult for you, for those blinded by trees are no good at forest trimming, and this is a cult for those of us who wish to remove the tree from our own eyes so we may see better to trim the forest least we inadvertently remove the fruitful trees.

Please know that I have chosen Genesis 1-5 as the guiding logos for this cult because we all have access to it. I advise it be read or reread after you have become as a child, as in, after you abandon what the words already mean to you so you may see the words with your own eyes and understand what you read with your own mind.

You may have been invited because you used your mind, and might want to help fulfil the mission proposed in this thread, but remember, its a cult! Not everyone must join, so do not in any way feel compelled.

And yes. buda, unfortunately, is the cult thread creator, but no superiority nor inferiority is implied nor should either be inferred.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Religion Is Failing In “very” Advanced Societies. by tctrills: 10:34am On Jul 24, 2022
Workch:
Religion is all about uncertainty. Religion exists to fill in those parts of your life that are beyond your control and understanding. It's been doing so for a long time.

They do start with a special revelation, which arguably ARE "Q&A sessions with God", at least from their own point of view. The revelations aren't complete, though. Since the beginning, they've had to interpret and interpolate. Honest people will say when they're unable to find a concrete answer, and it's not valid even within religious confines to simply assert that an interpolation is absolutely true.

Now, in the last few centuries those areas beyond control and understanding, that used to be the province of religion, have instead been given more concrete answers by science and education. That has pushed that ability to interpret and interpolate to the test. Many previously accepted ones have been demonstrated to be false. The revelation is no longer accepted as a valid argument in civil society.

But there a remain areas beyond our control and understanding, some scientific, some moral. Those who wish to accept what the revelation (suitably interpreted) says is "true" FOR THEMSELVES may do so; the burden of proof is on others to disprove it (religion always don’t want to carry any burden of proof for their claims). As long as there is some consistent interpretation, no matter how twisted and unlikely, you haven't disproven it.

Note the giant caveat in there. They can accept it for themselves. But if they wish to compel you to accept it, the burden of proof reverts back to them. Those interpretations don't count as proof. An interpretation under which the revelation is not wrong is not the same as proof that it is right.

Offline, I really avoid religious discussions because I know how sensitive that it is in less-advanced societies like Nigeria where logic, science and reason is abysmal. I studied in Poland and Poland is ranked one of the most religious countries in Europe, however you could still sense the overall irreligious nature compared to Nigeria. I have had opportunities to travel to the Netherlands, U.K and Germany, its clear that societal advancement especially the liberal kind of western civilization kills religion, you could see it in the fabrics of their societies that religion is dying and being relegated to second fiddle. I have this Jehovah witness member that I have always engaged here in Nigeria, I stopped engaging him when I realized it’s all a waste of time: he makes many things up and whenever I ask for evidence, it’s seems like he has problems understanding what qualifies as evidence or proof. I had to make him know that Belief is a wonderful thing, you can waste your entire life following whatever suits your brain to have faith in! Or live in the real world without the mystical influence of imaginary deities. I don’t need to believe in superstition, I believe in myself and what I can achieve in my life. I had to settle for the fact that, this society is backward, people are less educated and even the educated are poorly educated. The educated are ill-equipped with ability to reason logically, observe the world and make sane and rational deductions without filling the gaps with spirits. This lacuna in our educational system also marks the obvious setbacks we have had in developing science and technological innovations and economy.

In advanced societies, As people become better educated they realise that the gaps for Gods to fit in are getting smaller and smaller.

One of the reasons that the concept of deities arose is to give an answer to questions that ancient man hadn't the knowledge, yet, to explain. Things like “Why does the sun rise?” and “What is thunder?”.

As our understanding of the universe expands the need for propitiating an angry god with flattery and ritual in case he makes the rivers flood or to curry his/her favour with praise and sacrifices has gone.

Western countries are just a little further down that road than other nations. In the end humanity will grow up and no longer need its security blanket.
I disagree with you. There is no data that shows that the more education you give a man, the less committed he would be to God.
There is no evidence to show that most of the nonreligious people were more religious before obtaining their PHDs.
Yes there is a cultural shift or a religious shift but non of the reasons you gave are correct.
Since the Egyptian civilization, we have had educated people, we have always had scientist. They shift is not caused by education rather it is cultural.

If all parties(apc and pdp) are one we won’t need a doctrine.

Doctrine means different belief

Are you saying that if all churchs are one, they would have no believes. Doctrine doesn't mean different believes please consult your dictionary.
Even at that, if all Church's were one we would still have different doctrines form Muslims, and other religions.

Why does God not declare himself as the God of Adam? For we know that Abraham sinned even as Adam did. Why then did He not call himself the God of Adam? Why did He not say the God of Abel, the seed of Adam? Why instead did He call himself the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob? Why according to the flesh was our Lord Jesus presented in the New Testament as having been born of the seed of Abraham? Why from among all men should God have called himself the God of these three particular persons?
Abraham is also the seed of Adam as we all are. While we don't know his reasons because he did not explain we can only guess and personal, I would not share my opinion as Gospel truths.

Different opinions and dogmas leads to different doctrine.

Hence if all Church's were one, we would have only one doctrine or one set of belief which is Christ's.
