DeRichard: Bible passages have spiritual meanings. What Jesus meant is whatever he does it's God that makes him do it, they communicate as in the spirit as he is being directed my God to do it. That's your interpretation and I appreciate it. So you are saying Jesus didn't see or learn from the father but the verse meant something else right? |

Engr1: First of all, we should know that Jesus is no ordinary man alright, HE IS THE VERY SON OF GOD that came to do the FATHER's WILL and take on HIMSELF human flesh so He could take our place for the punishment of our sin! Because Jesus, the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD took on HIMSELF the human flesh, and in the flesh conquered satan, and never yielded nor obeyed satan ONE TIME......JESUS WAS ABLE TO RISE FROM THE DEAD with the keys of death and hell, & ALL POWER both in heaven & in earth was given unto Jesus. Be ye doers of the Word, & not hearers Only James 1:22 Sir I don't think you understand my question. All you say is correct and I agree but I don't think it relates to my question. If you are not clear with my question, I could explain better |

SeriouslySense: If we are to deduce, it means Jesus can do what God the Father can do, such as restore life to our dead bodies, he can create any form of Life from nothing, he has absolute control over the elements or the Universe itself.
Since during creation, Jesus was there with God the Father, and he was part of creating everything. He was there during its design and during the plan for creation. He saw everything, or he created.
So any kind of task that only God can do can be given to Jesus by the father, Jesus can do that task because it will be shown to him and is assigned to him and Jesus is also God ( now I think i am going beyond my limits, ) Hmm nice answer bit my main focus is where he says he saw the father do these things. Are you saying he never sawant the father raise the dead and pay for sins? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Explain These Bible Verses by tctrills(op): 2:16pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
Eberex: God the father coexist with God the son and God the holy spirit.
These three exist as one. (It's not in human level of understanding)
You are asking what was it that Jesus saw his father do? Why do you want to know? How does that affect anything?
And for your information, Jesus uses the father to explain his teachings because God the father sent him. He is God the son. Both are inseparable.
His taught based on human level of reasoning.
Ask more important questions Now you confuse everything. You say "These three exist as one. (It's not in human level of understanding)" If it's beyond our understanding, how are you trying to explain it? And why would it be in the bible? Was the bible not write for humans or was it written to confuse us? Finally, you ask why I want to know? What good child wouldn't want to know everything about his father? |

Eberex: Now listen. When we read things we also need to ask questions. During Jesus time, the Jews have a belief which happens to be "there is only one God". Did you think Jesus will announce who he was to them? That would have been sacrilege! Their beliefs must remain intact.
From your verses, Jesus is clearly letting us know the relationship he has with the father. It's a symbiotic one. He is one with the father, hence whatever he does also applied to him.
Have you wondered why the prophets of old start preaching by saying "the Lord says", or "thus says the Lord".
But did Jesus ever said that? Did he ever start talking with those words?no. Instead he says "I am" I AM. Does that tell you anything?
When Moses was in the burning bush, what did God say his name was
I AM THAT I AM If I get you, you are saying Jesus Christ is same as the father? Please explain this from verse 19 "Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does" What was it that Jesus saw his father do? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Explain These Bible Verses by tctrills(op): 1:49pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
ThierryJay: Let me chip in my own understanding. The verses you quoted are simply showing the unity of mind between God and Jesus while he was on earth. Every "work" Jesus did on earth was based on instruction/approval/insight/revelation from God his father. That is why he expressly stated "I and my Father are ONE".
It is about Father and son sharing the same purpose of mind but the info flows from the father to the son which is why he referenced his father doing the works first in the spiritual realm.
But to say God had also died first somewhere is a misinterpretation of those verses. There was a separation between God and Jesus on the cross when he cried my father why have you forsaken me, meaning he was left alone to carry the burden cos at that point he had become sin which the father could not connect to again (a verse says he was made sin). At that point, Jesus was in uncharted territory which is why he was elevated back to God's side upon his resurrection for achieving something so difficult. I appreciate your answer but it seems everyone attemptin my question is only trying to express what he thinks Jesus meant. I would love it if you have the time to break the verses down and explain sentence by sentence. For example, what does Jesus mean by "Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does"? |

Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Kobojunkie: Now we are getting somewhere... so this is what you were hiding, asking your op to decieve is it. Why didn't you simply state this as your belief from the beginning?
So your understanding of what is written is that Jesus Christ has observed His own Father do the same exact things off in some other world and time , and He, Jesus Christ, came to to world to do the same exact things He has previously observed His Father doing.... that is interesting. I wasn't hiding anything, I was as open as can be with my question. It's up to you to answer if you have an answer |

SeriouslySense: To my little understanding, of which i may be wrong, because God is complex, and he only Shows what he wants to show to the people.
What I understand by this verse is that Jesus is 100 percent in unity with God, because he is also God, this is why whatever the father does the Son can also do.
And another way to understand it, is that Jesus and the Father are truly one, Jesus does what he does according to what the father does, so the saying is true, Listen, O Israel, for the Lord, is One.
finally, if we take it literally, as it comes, it could mean, Jesus, humbles himself So that God is glorified and in this process of revelations, God is revealed in Jesus or through Jesus, so that the Son is also Glorified, for the Lord is One. I love your explanation but my question is, did the father at anytime pay the price of sin for mankind? Jesus seemed to be saying that he saw his father do that and was following that example |

babajero: My question to you as well, is do you agree that your father can be in America having many companies, then send you to the company which is in Africa because he trusts your loyalty, with an instructions, and still call you to give you instructions on what to do and not to do? That is exactly the way I understand those verses. The Bible seems to be telling us that the father has other (worlds/places/companies) and he sent his son to one because he trust his son to follow his example. Jesus Christ states in the passage that he has seen his father do these things. I think you are correct. |
