Good evening house and happy new week! Please I have a question. Do I need a passport with minimum of 6 months validity to apply for visiting visa or can I apply with a passport that has about 5 months validity. The visit period is wishing the validity date?

P.s. the passport is for a relative.

Most countries I know have the 6 month validity rule. But then why not just renew the passport, cuz Canada gives visa up to the passport expiry. I think it’s just tidier to renew the passport.

@teamchocolate Oya get online and begin a Canada TRV application immediately. You can do it and 2months is the average timeline for the visa processing that peeps have been recording recently. Luckily you don't have to give biometrics again since you have already applied to that embassy b4(if I read you correctly). You might just be lucky to secure a visa approval in record time too, if not, at least you tried. Good luck

Hello everyone. Being following this thread and hoped to come share my success story but alas I was refused.
Here goes my transcript cuz I notice not many people have being putting their visa interview transcripts.
As soon as they directed me to this woman at window 4 my heart sank cuz she just put stack of blue paper in front of her as if say na her stationery be dat. Plus she had been issuing everyone blue paper since I got there.

VO: So why are you going to the US
Me: I am going to have my baby

She types for a very long time just frowning. Didn’t ask to see any document, no question asked about where I work or where hubby works, who is sponsoring , account statement, assets we had and just hands over the blue paper. Sorry you are not qualified Bla bla.
I had landed property documents from my husband, account statements of almost 8M when budget estimate was just 5.1M. The main reason I was even denied those visas for the UK and Canada was that we were paying for our house at this time so our account was not that buoyant. Meanwhile hubby has both UK and US visas 5 years and 2 years respectively and he travels often but I don’t.
I am sad because I am aware that you can’t apply for the next 6 months by which time baby would have been born by God’s grace. Someone told me to try South American countries eg brazil or re-apply for Canada. I really don’t know cuz am due in the about 3 months and I just want the best for my baby.
Does Brazil make any sense at all or should I re-apply for Canada. Been on the Canada thread and it’s not that informative.

A 33 -year-old trader, Umeme Lotachukwu Fabian, arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, with drugs suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 1.205kg, has blamed his indulgence on the need to raise money for wedding.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, travelling to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia, claimed to be an Ivorian. He was arrested while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Indonesia with a Cote d’lvoire international passport bearing the name Grou Bi Clauvis. NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Ahmadu Garba, however, said that during investigation, it was revealed that the suspect hailed from Anambra State with the name Umeme Lotachukwu Fabian.

In his statement, the suspect disclosed that he was offered five thousand dollars to smuggle the drugs to Indonesia. “I am the only son of my parents. I wanted to invest the money in my clothes business and also commence preparation for my marriage in a bid to settle down in life. They offered me five thousand naira to smuggle the drugs to Indonesia”, he stated. Fabian explained that he was not aware that drug trafficking attracts capital punishment in Indonesia” , he said .

I think all data should be collected... ethnicity, religion, history of crime and even status of disability... it is shameful that nigeria does not know it's disability statistics or have a record of all convicted felons.. and when I say disability, wearing glasses is a disability, needing hearing aid is a disability.. its not just people that can't walk that are disabled.
