I strongly believed, no party has the authority to review Supreme Court judgements nah, the law is clear, it's the highest court of Law with final say on any constitutional and political matters.

It's just crazy for anyone to think the Supreme Court will reverse themselves. Nigerians will always try in case their luck will shine. Lawyers will always accept the case, after all pepper will be involved.

Supreme Court on Monday struck out an application by the All Progressives Congress (APC), asking the Apex Court to review its judgment on the Zamfara governorship elections.

In a unanimous ruling by a five-man panel of justices, led by Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, the Apex Court says the application is incompetent and lacks merit.

The panel added that the application should not have been brought before it in the first place.

Lead counsel to the appellant, Robert Clarke had approached the Supreme Court to review its earlier judgment on the Zamfara Governorship elections, which held in part that the APC never conducted its primaries, a judgment that made all the candidates who took part in that election under the APC platform null and void.

Justice Adamu Galunje of the Supreme Court had earlier in May nullified the elections of all the candidates of the APC in Zamfara State in the 2019 general elections.

The Apex Court held that the Appeal Court in Sokoto was right when it agreed with the respondents that the party did not conduct primaries in the state.

It added that the party that has no candidate cannot be said to have won an election, hence the votes cast for the APC in the election were wasted votes.

Say what you like but anyone with unbiased mind will agree that some of the things that we experience in this government are undemocratic. For example, the courts have given judgements that certain people be released from detention but they are still in prison. I don't have any history of Jonathan not complying with court orders. As a nation, we have even moved beyond Jonathan. Jonathan was replaced by Buhari for the nation to move forward. We expect better things than the Jonathan era not to begin to see things that are reminiscent of military era. I pray that God will help us as a nation not read politics into everything.

Even before arrests were made, Tinubu has already rose in defense of the herdsmen. The truth is that from arrests made on Nigerian highways recently, the herdsmen have become prime suspects. President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have objected to the move by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to play a video before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

The Nation reports that their lawyers objected when the petitioners’ lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN) invited Atiku’s Media Aide, Segun Showunmi, through whom Uche intended to play the video recordings and tender about 48 documents.


But, Alex. Izinyon (SAN), for Buhari; Adeniyi Akintola (SAN); and Yunus Usman (SAN), for INEC kicked on on the grounds that the petitioners did not front-load the items as required under the Electoral Act.

You cannot for personal reasons inaugurate the house at an awkward hour of the day. You didn't do it between 8am and 5am but at night hours so that only your loyalists will attend. And only nine our of twenty four members were present. Though wrong, I enjoyed it because Adams Oshiomhole was treated to his tricks. In the same house, he passed the state budget while he was governor with less than ten members of the house. He deliberately removed the roof of the house chambers on the excuse that it was being renovated and moved his few loyalists to the government House to pass the budget. The same Oshiomhole kept on threatening Bukola Saraki with impeachment by saying that you only need two thirds of a quorum, which is one third of the Senators, to remove Saraki. Based on that premise, all Obaseki has done is to get nine members of the house, which formed quorum, to inaugurate the house. QED.

The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has said that he cannot speak on the decision of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to drop the prosecution of Gombe Central senator, Danjuma Goje, because he did not have details of the matter.

Sagay said this during an interview Tuesday

The senior advocate, however, said he would not be in support of the move if it was done for political reasons.

He said he could not speak on the matter because he did not know why the case was dropped.

Sagay said, “I’m not aware of the reason because my answer must depend on the reason. I’m going to find out. Let’s put it this way: if there is a good case against him, then it is withdrawn, it’s not justified.

“One really needs to know the reason; I don’t want to start condemning him without finding out why. But if there’s a good case and that case is withdrawn for political reasons, I cannot support it.

“That’s all I can say, but there may be a justifiable reason which I don’t know yet. So, I’m not going to condemn (the Federal Government) yet without enough knowledge of the circumstances.”

This was back in the days when a meal cost as low as fifty kobo (50k). Meals in Nigerian universities were heavily subsidised by the government, so students, both rich and poor had access to at least one free meal daily.

The 13th petitioners’ witness, Audu Sani, told the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, on Tuesday that he could not remember the date of the last presidential election.

Sani, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s collation agent in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State for the presidential election, had alleged that there were incessant incidents of thuggery and sporadic shootings in many parts of the area, preventing and disrupting voting.

The witness appeared before the five-man panel led by Justice Garba Usman, to testify at the instance of the PDP, and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who are challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23 poll.

He said, under cross-examination, that he submitted the results he collated in his local government to the state collation agent of his party.

Asked by the All Progressives Congress’ lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), when he submitted the results, he said he did on “the 26th”.

Asked which month, he said “April 26”.

Asked when did the election hold he said “23rd”.

When asked to mention the month, he said, “I cannot remember.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the confirmation of the Senate for the appointment of Prof. Habu Galadima as the substantive Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos.

The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan read the letter from the President to his colleagues at the plenary on Tuesday.

Buhari said his correspondence dated July 9, was backed by Section 8 (5) of the NIPSS Act, which empowers him to forward names of nominees for the office to Senate for confirmation.

He appealed to the lawmakers to give necessary support that would ensure smooth screening and confirmation of Galadima.

The President noted that he attached a copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae to the letter to further enable the Senate have more information about him.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Galadima was born in 1963 at Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The current professor of Political Science at the University of Jos, Plateau obtained a first degree in 1987, MSC in 1990 and PhD in 2006 from same university.

NAN further reports that Galadima who rose to become Head of Department of the Political Science in UNIJOS had worked as a consultant to ECOWAS, World Bank and UNDP.

In a similar letter read by the President of the Senate, Buhari also requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of Mr Uba Maska as Executive Director of the National Communication Commission (NCC).

Earlier this week, the Director-General of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) commended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) for being the first institution to produce an electric car in the country, according to him, he said, “NADDC on Feb. 6, invited UNN, University of Lagos, Usman Dan Fodio University and Metrological Institute and urged them to prepare a paper design on how to produce an electric car in the country.

“The council is happy that UNN is the first to prepare a paper design and produced electrical car that has been unveiled and test-run today in the university.

“We urge other universities and higher institutions in the country to emulate innovation and technology spirit of UNN.”

Aliyu made the commendation in Nsukka on Monday during the unveiling of a five-seater Electric Car, named ‘Lion Ozumba 551′, produced by the Faculty of Engineering in the university.

Photos from this elderly couples wedding which took place in Zaria state recently has gotten Nigerians all emotional on social media.

According to Facebook user, Chinecherem Ebubechi, who shared their photos online, the groom is a 73-year-old Nigerian Evangelist, Matthew Owojaiye, while his bride is 63 year old Abosede Ayobola.

According to Chinecherem, this was the bride's first wedding. The couple met 50 years ago. The groom had asked her out at the time but she turned him down. Many years later, they met again, found out they were both single and decided to give love a chance.


They got married at the Living Faith Church in Zaria in front of family members and friends.
