Politics › Re: President Buhari’s Most Recent Missteps by Teddeebear: 4:50pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
PassingShot: Warning: Let no wailer see this as an opportunity to wail uncontrollably. This article is in line with my personal resolve to call the president to order on this forum whenever he missteps. Besides, GEJ was not an option in the last election. So, please keep your sermon of “we told you”, “we warned you”, “Buhari is incompetent” and other bla bla blas to yourself.
Fuel Scarcity: Deafening Silence from the president One area that our hopes and expectations of good result of Buhari’s presidency were high is in the petroleum industry. Apart from the fact that the president has failed to find a permanent solution to the issue of oil subsidy in the last six months he has presided over the affairs of Nigeria, he has also failed to provide petrol to Nigerians at the regular pump price of N87 and with ease.
To say that the current situation of fuel scarcity has brought untold hardship and resulted in irreplaceable loss of productive time is an understatement. The more worrisome is the fact that the president who doubles as the nation’s minister of petroleum has not deemed it fit and necessary to address the nation (through TV or through one of his media aides) on the hardship citizens are passing through and also use the opportunity to apologize and assuage our anger. This silence is too deafening to be ignored and I hereby condemn it in its entirety, the president’s handling of the fuel scarcity we have at our hands. He should as a matter of national urgency address the nation on what is happening, the government’s efforts to normalize it and above all the long term solution (if not permanent) to the problem. Anything short of this amounts to taking Nigerians for a ride. Pure and simple!
Excessive Overseas Trip Another area I think the president has erred in recent times is that of gallivanting abroad at every given opportunity. When ministers had not come on board I could understand the need for him to personally attend to those numerous summits and conferences but with the coming of all ministers I’d expected that there will be a drastic reduction in such journeys. The latest one to Iran for Gas Exporting Countries didn’t require his personal presence plus that of Ibe Kachikwu (Min. of state for petroleum) and Tunde Fashola (Min of Power, Works and Housing). He could have let Kachikwu and Fashola attend that one and if he must attend he should have let Ibe Kachikwu stay at home tending to the fuel crisis at hand.
As if the gaffe of the Iran trip was not enough, I read moment ago that the president is due to lead a delegation to Paris on Climate Change! Now, this one is a trip too many in my opinion. We have more pressing issues at home than climate change. Besides, we have a minister of Environment who can lead a Nigerian delegation if we must attend. Why our president must reduce himself to “Ajala travels all over the world” in the face of enormous challenges at the home front beats my imagination.
Dear PMB, you have a chance to prove to Nigerians that we did not make a mistake in electing you president. If you however choose to do as it pleases you even in the face of sufferings of the common man, 2019 is not far away.
May God Bless Nigeria! bros, after all the travels in January and Early February, baba is still planning to travel soon. be like him no hear you, can you wail louder cc: firefire |

Goke7: Have you not heard about Political lobbying before? what stops the south south members of the senate and house of reps from lobbying and convincing their colleagues from other regions to pass the PIB bill which will be beneficial to their states, this is where the northern politicians are better in playing ball likewise their counterparts from the sw, the problem with politicians from ss is lack of diplomatic tact to play ball with others, instead they play the victim and cry about the marginalization of the past and abuse others to make their points, there is no free lunch anywhere in the world, you must work hard for what you want.
I hope you now know who the kids are now you are still a kid. you know a northerner will never accept that, no matter your negotiations, esp when it comes to oil. Not to talk of yorubas with agenda every day. common PIB, which is mostly to encourage local content could not fly if state control resources, all the northerners and yorubas owning oil blocs in SS will lose it. |

It just shows that the survival of pdp as a party is dependent on full scale looting, nothing less. yeye people with their yeye party. you reason like a kid, can a president single handedly change the constitution. What happened to PIB and Local government Autonomy bill |

obailala: Are you aware that life is all about competition? Every business man or trader wants all the customers to come into his shop. So while the Yorubas are scheming for imports to come in through their ports/shops, what have SE and SS leaders been doing for decades? What did even Jonathan do about this in his 5 years?
Bro before you blame the other man for hustling hard to fend for himself and his children, ask youself what your own fathers/leaders have been doing to meet your needs when they get to Abuja.
Meanwhile you want customers to branch into your store yet you eulogise pirates and some common criminals who smoke weed and operate infront of your shop; and then when the customers are scared away, you blame the owner of the other shops of using juju. Wake up man! It's all common sense. thanks for saying the truth, yorubas are the ones blocking the success. At least we know how Yoruba killed TINAPA. at least we have seen how Fashola has earmarked N88billion for SW and 2billion for SE hahaha, tomorrow someone will shout "one Nigeria" |

Celebrities › Pope John Paul II Had Intense Friendship With Married Woman – BBC by Teddeebear(op): 10:23am On Feb 16, 2016 |
Pope John Paul II had a close relationship with a married woman which lasted over 30 years, according to letters which feature in a documentary being shown by the BBC on Monday.
While the documentary does not claim he broke his vow of celibacy with Polish-born philosopher and writer Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, the tone of some of his letters to her points to intense feelings between them, the broadcaster says.
The two spent camping and skiing holidays together and went on country walks. In one letter from September 1976, he calls her a "gift from God".
"My dear Teresa," he writes. "You write about being torn apart, but I could find no answer to these words." Also in September 1976, he writes: "Already last year I was looking for an answer to these words, 'I belong to you', and finally, before leaving Poland, I found a way -- a scapular."
A scapular is a piece of cloth worn as part of the habit of monastic orders and the then Cardinal Karol Wojtyla gave Tymieniecka his.
"The dimension in which I accept and feel you everywhere in all kinds of situations, when you are close, and when you are far away," he adds.
Edward Stourton, the senior BBC journalist who made the documentary, said more than 350 letters were found at the National Library of Poland, the first dated in 1973 and the last a few months before his death in 2005.
"I would say there were more than friends but less than lovers," he said. "One of the fascinating stories that comes out of these letters is of a struggle to contain what was certainly a very intense relationship which mixed emotions and philosophical ideas in proper Christian boundaries."
The BBC has only seen John Paul II's letters, not Tymieniecka's side of the correspondence. She died in 2014. John Paul II was pope from 1978 to 2005 and was made a saint by the Catholic Church after his death. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/pope-john-paul-ii-had-intense-friendship-with-married-woman-bbc/ |

Gbawe: Is something wrong with you or were you just born rude and uncouth ? You are the one who is disgusting with how you cannnot quote others politely and must lead with insults like a frustrated soul. Where is the "blame game" or "lies" in my post? Do you not see where I charge Buhari to accept full responsibility and begin taking 100% control with his own appointments and directives ? It is instructive that nairaland APC supporters are already critically appraising Buhari, after 8 months in office, and concluding his effort is not good enough in some regards. This is very different to GEJ fans who watched him destroy Nigeria for 5 years yet clannishly and zealously demanded he get 4 more years in charge while they totally ignored the glaring misrule and looting under Jonathan. It is obvious APC fans mean well for Nigeria and are always ready to look beyond the individual, i.e PMB in this case, to support what is right while Jonathan fans know no better than to shout "GEJ till 2080" up and down like mindless zombies.
I personally still believe in PMB but I think he must now take firmer control of activities in every sector under him and he must take his oversight duties very, very seriously lest charlatans and self-serving appointees of government destroy the credibility of his government and take Nigeria back to square one in the process. The excuses under GEJ of "good President led astray by bad appointees/advise" will not be tenable under Buhari because the APC is a different animal consisting of people who want the best for Nigeria and not clannish bigots who will support their misruling kinsman blindly via delivering 100% votes for him as reward for said leader taking Nigeria backwards horribly. This is why some of us are urging Buhari to sit up. He is lucky that APC supporters are mainly reasonable Nigerians seeking the best for their nation and not ethnocentric charlatan who will keep praising him while Nigeria is moving backwards. lol, the last time I checked Gej is not interested in Nigerian politics, he has washed his hands off, so that those who claimed that they know it all take over. so i don't know the idea of what you mean by gej supporter. The problem with you guys is simple, you never saw anything good in him, so. pro gej had every right to defend him The idea of thinking that buhari can study the entire budget and supervise effectively.. the all the ministry is not possible. If he tries it he will breakdown. The only reasonable thing is to appoint people he can trust not compensating political party of course, he will step on toes. |
