Please what exchange rate has anyone here used in calculating the CAD naira equivalent to reflect for "proof of funds"

Should one use black market rate (N390=1CAD) or official rate (N242=1CAD).

With respect the admission process at UCW I'd really suggest you contact Folaroyal...he seem vast in their admission process having gone through the process himself and was able to secure admission.


Buh going by the info made available on their website I think the following are their requirements;

A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.33 scale (or equivalent) or better and

Have one of the following:

Acceptable score on a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) that has been written in the last five years.

An appropriate Canadian professional designation or equivalent international designation (e.g. CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CHRP or P.Eng).

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) or Commerce (BComm) or equivalent.
A minimum of two (2) years documented professional or management experience.

Applicants who do not hold all of the above academic and professional requirements may also qualify for entry to the MBA Program after completing the MBA Foundation program.

Further to the above, I think it would be reasonable and prudent to contact the mba program coordinator to get specifics with respect the admission requirements. Alternatively, you can enrol for their MBA Foundation program. Buh have it in mind that the tuition fee is about 34k cad excluding living expenses.

I'd suggest you don't apply with your entire family yet...the VO might see you and your family as economic immigrants and that may backfire. Once you apply with your wife and kids your hometie diminish in the eyes of the VO attending to your app. Use your family in Nigeria as your tie to Nigeria, when you secure your trv, your family can then apply. This is to reduce the risk of refusal.

Further to the above, applying with your wife and kids would require you to show more than excess availability of funds. You should have additional 4k cad for your wife and 3k cad for each of your kids. Therefore, unless you do have a buoyant financial history and background I suggest you apply alone first.

You just confirmed my concerns. I saw all that on their website. Wow...tuition is decently priced too.

On applying together with my wife...I guess I can marshal my writeup to convince the VO. I have some plots in PH,Abj & Ogun state. I'll also be on office approved study leave during my studies...also I'll plead family unification immigration policy of Canada...i ve 2 potential sponsors plus GOD. I'll try. I ve attempted these things for UK tourist visas for my family before. all of us except my wife was on Virgin passport and people said they'll reject you but we all got it. I used a beautifully crafted cover letter using their immigration regulations (which I ve deeply researched) to drive home my prayers...and God approved it.

On going separately...after getting our papers together. You didn't advise on this enquiry.

Financial proof...the more reason I want us all to apply concurrently. CIC require 10k CAD for my expenses, 4k for wify, 3k each for kids...plus let's say 25k for yr 1 tuition. Total 45k @ N250 is 11.5million naira. God can raise that for me now (I ve got an unlimitable God) by 2018 ending...
If we apply together, I'll be saved from trying to build another set of financial proof for them when I'm ready to apply for them. That'll be a long thing for me.

Buh frankly if you'd ask me....I don't see any academic or career progression in your intending program (pgd). You have a B.ed in economics and a Bsc in accounting and work experience though I do not know the number of years of experience you got, buh the summary of the gist is that the VO did not see the need for this program in light of your work and academic history. Your circumstance would have placed you in a comfortable position to pursue a Master’s degree rather than a pdg.

Obviously program consistency isn't the problem. As you have rightly hinted, pdg is the problem.

Master's degree would sell better than a pgd. Sometimes when you have wealth of work experience and substantial academic history in a particular field it is better you aim for a Master’s degree.

Unless you have other explanations for the refusal on the ground of Purpose of visit, I'd really suggest you aim for an MBA. Try UCW (UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST).

Good day to the gurus in the house. I intend to go for MBA come 2018/2019 and I am currently preparing for my GMAT test.

As part of my preparations, I have actively been following the Canadian threads relevant to my quest. But I am curious about some things and I also have some enquiries.

My curiosity:
Pls guys, what's the catch about University Canada West, (In all of my several months of researching schools for MBA now, UCW have never popped up on my radar- Just heard about it in this thread through Bayoroyal) I have been to their website, can't place my hand on it- is it GMAT exempt, cheaper tuition or some other friendly processing that can make TRV application "life" easy (Pls advise me early before I pay for my GMAT test and start regretting paying if I wont be needing it o!-lolz)

*Does the UCW MBA have COOP integrated into the MBA programme?

*Is it a public or private school?;

*Is it a DLI? whats the accreditation status of UCW MBA programme?


My enquiries:
I intend to go for my studies with my wife and 2 kids (Canadian family unification or so, they call it), so thereby applying for Spousal Open work permit for my wife and TRV for my kids concurrently with my study permit and Coop work permit for myself. My concern is after getting our papers, can I go initially alone and they (my wife and kids) come in after 3 months, considering the fact that I have to prepare the ground for ease of settling in properly.

Choice were based on multiple parameters including province, tuition affordability, ease of after-studies offers, acceptance of my credentials etc (what's are your thoughts about the choices above please)
