Yes oyinbo man understand. Even in ACCA, an engineering graduate or Anatomy graduate or whatever degree can register and after having satisfied the major requirements of the certification, affiliation or membership status is conferred on the individual.

Kapish!
Oh OK. Thanks @Flosk

That sounds more like my situation.

Qualified as ICAN ACA & earned Bsc in Philosophy at about the same time. Elected to work as an accountant. Worked in financial services in the last 8 years as an accountant...(earned an MBA in between working)

I guess can go ahead and submit the Provincial Immigration Officer's ADR request for my b.sc Philosophy certificate and transcript (though I ve earlier submitted my ICAN certificate and MBA)

I hope for the best. It will all end in praise IJN

Get reference letter from ur workplace. Nominate the NOC that agrees with ur duties. Add the philosophy and ICAN stuff and check they weren't evaluated. Nna eh

Can you explain better what you meant by the bolded above please?

NOTICE TO ALL INTERESTED PNP APPLICANTS AND HOPEFULS!!

We have magnanimously received approval from supermod @Justwise to create a thread specific to PNP matters.

Join us here as below:

What you created was not PNP thread

Start one and state a clear difference between PNP and this current thread
Let me first of all say God bless you @Justwise

True, what I created previously was not a general PNP thread but a specific thread in relation to a particular provincial Nominee Program but I was forced to do that out of frustration of not getting get pointed answers to enquiries on PNP related matters from people interested and on the same journey stage as myself..PNPers..

Most people here are either on FSW direct ITA or post-ITA stages of the Express Entry process...PNP guys will still join this grouping later but we need to sort specific issues out first on the different provincial nominee requirements which are different from federal skilled workers programs (the majority of the people here are on)

The info one gets on PNP here are scattered abroad the hundreds of pages and far apart (how do we even start the research? grin). But for family love of some to stop by ones enquiry and drop a line or two, many pass by your posts and reply to posts that they can relate with (and I don't blame anybody anyways, it's a privilege to receive a "hi" grin).

Now that we have finally received an approval to create our own PNP thread, I hope that most people will graduate from the PNP thread into this one for the continuation of their PR final journey.

@Justwise, on behalf of all those that have agitated for the creation of the PNP thread for quite a while, I want to say a big thank you to you.

Best regards.

Kontagious:
Hi Teecann,

So I’m thinking why not just provide what is asked for, and stop worrying over this issue of degree correlating with work experience.

I think it is common knowledge you don’t necessarily need to have a finance degree before you can be ICAN certified
, moreover people have career switch, your ICAN certification shows you have what it takes to practice what you claim to practice, so why bother? I don’t think you will be penalized for not practicing Philosophy.

Provide what is asked for and watch your application come through.

If your first degree certificate was requested, why would you want to add the ICAN transcript et al? If those were needed, your ADR would have stated so. Should the need arise to validate your work experience, I don't think it will be through your degree certificate or letter of good standing from ICAN, rather getting in touch with the organization(s) you claimed to have worked.
Merci @Kontagious...

Beautiful thing you and I and alot of people here know the bolded above...that you don't need to have a financial degree to write and qualify for ICAN and also people make career switches...but the question is: Will the Oyinbo VO understand it they way we do here?...

Their system is different...maybe they can relate with the career switch argument but how do we explain that you are working with a professional certification different from.your 1st degree in a totally different field from day1 after graduation?

That's why I want to ask you will it be still "oversabi" to include the ICAN certificate (though earlier uploaded to them), ICAN transcript along with the philosophy certificate & transcript with a Letter of Explanation (in XX01 words) in "short and precise" words.

Why all this?
The reason being I fear to give the VO an opportunity to slam NOC/Education mismatch on my application under the guise of a flimsy reason as this. He will be quick to forget that I have an MBA and ICAN if I submit Philosophy certificate and transcript to him and firstly he goes straight to view my NOC and says this doesn't jive. (These Oyinbos can be unpredictable and funny at times)

All the same, I'll go with the general consensus. This is my e-family...family watches out for family
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by TEECANN:
XX01:
Did you get an ECA for your ICAN?
No. I got to know that ICAN can be evaluated just some weeks ago and it's obvious even if I start the process now, it won't meet my provincial ADR deadline and doing it won't necessarily be useful for CIC's post ITA stage as I have already evaluated my MBA.

@XX01, what do you think?

Thanks.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by TEECANN: 10:15am On Nov 16, 2017
XX01:
You can write a letter of explanation and put this explanation as well as include the degree certificate. Remember to keep the letter short and precise and sign at the end.

Should be no problem.
Oh @XX01...I didn't see this on time.

I'm so grateful for your advice.

But how can I emphasise my ICAN training over the degree that is not finance related.

I was thinking to go collect transcripts from ICAN but my 45 days deadline is ticking. It will burn out on the 25th of Dec (xmas grin I can't even crush chick bone with this fire under my bumbum)

ICAN transcript plus certificate and Letter of Good Standing from ICAN (will it still be in order to attach the degree certificate & transcript?- I really want to downplay it)

Everybody, your thoughts will be appreciated. These are just me thinking aloud... cheesy
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by TEECANN:
Good day my good people...I still need your good natured and frank advice on my dilemma as explained below:

I'm bothered but I know there's wisdom in multitude of counsel...hence I need your opinion from our collective knowledge here. It's a little peculiar since its a Provincial Nomination Program related matter and I won't bother you with this query again after this last post grin grin Just to get some other differing opinions or mode of attacking it! grin

My situation:

I applied for PNP(provincial nomination)and I was contacted to submit my my Bachelor’s degree.
Whilst submitting the application, I had submitted my highest qualification required (which is an MBA) plus my ICAN certificate (though not required).

My 1st degree is in Philosophy...but I have always in the last 9 years of my working life used my ICAN qualification to secure jobs (including the place I'm currently working now) and my employers were always aware of my 1st degree background.

I currently work as an accountant in accounting roles (never worked with my 1st degree once) and this informed my NOC 1111

Pls how do I address this provincial ADR asking for my 1st degree. How do I explain to the Visa Officer (VO) that ICAN formed the basis of the job experience that I have in the last 8 years

Note. I qualified as a chartered accountant before entering the Labour market (about the same time I graduated from my 1st degree) before NYSC year.

I further went ahead to earn an MBA in 2015 whilst working, to consolidate my finance background.

The concern is that if the VO doesn't understand properly (the peculiarity of our educational combinations in this clime) he might erroneously slam NOC/Education/experience mismatch on my application.

Thank you.

I don't think this is much of a problem. Canada Immigration focuses on job functions/roles and not on Degree vs Job function. I have a feeling you are comparing it with Australian Immigration that would like to see your degree match your job role.
Go ahead and submit your ADR,I think you should be fine.
Thank you Ajii. ..you took time out to at least pen your thoughts...I appreciate you and your won't be forgotten in my PPR autobiography. cheesy

I'm not comparing it to Aussie's immigration process (I don't even know much about that end)

Thank you also @GlitteringStar...

I'm raising this because it is a Provincial Nominee Program process and it has its own unique peculiarities as against the Federal Skilled Workers CIC process that most people are very conversant with here.

Hence our numerous appeals to the supermod @Justwise to allow PNP applicants to have their own thread separate from FSW that this thread majorly is versed in.

See now, your reply to me is flowing from only your knowledge on CIC FSW process which although somewhat similar to PNP but still specifically different from PNP...

Thank you all the same Ajii. I genuinely appreciate your time and effort. God bless.

Goodevening Everyone.. Please i have a question concerning SINP application.. I read Superchi's's post about uploading some documents including the ones for spouse and child/children.. But can't seem to find anywhere where it's indicated(for spouse and for child) It's just documents for the applicant i see.. Anyone who can help with this? Thanks a lot
Check SINP's OASIS portal very well. There are placeholders to upload birth certificate, international passport page for spouse and children (scanned to Pdf)

Just take your time to peruse the portal properly...it's all there.

NOTE: 1. If you have submitted an application without uploading ALL required documents, your application may be returned (which in essence means you'll have to try again when SINP reopens)

2. If you have submitted all required documents but there are errors, omissions in some docs or you didn't convert some to PDF, you are lucky. Just correct those docs and rescan in PDF and send to their document collection email address with a clear letter of explanation (LOE)

Best regards.

Please does this WES ECA report make an MBA Ife less a regular MBA if it evaluates it as an "EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION"?

Will an Executive MBA still be ranked as a Masters Degree?

Pls don't give up as d contact person in ICAN told me some people came to request again. Probably a system glitch in this case but keep harassing them.
Hello @Issyman

Just a lil curious. Does WES carry out assessment of professional certification like ICAN?

I thought it's on their website that professional training is not within their mandate.

Pls can you help me with the purpose of verifying ICAN as against the usual Bsc and Msc that we know.

I think having a thread for PNP is a very necessary step. Other websites relating to Canada immigration have separate thread for PNP. Even immigration tracker has a different tracker and statistics. Since there are quite a number of people requesting for it, the thread that was shut down should be allowed to function.
Anyone who knows the powers that be on niaraland should allow that thread function
Exactly my thoughts.

I opened a thread some days ago on OCTOBER 2017 SINP EE APPLICANTS. But supermoderator @Justwise in his wisdom thinks otherwise. He shot it down!

I don't know how NL Mgt wants newbies needing easy to understand info to start wading through hundreds of pages of Immigration info on PNP, pre-ITA, CIC stage (post ITA) all in the same and one thread!

It just reminds of junior secondary school days when you have messy class note containing one topic in Government class followed by Economics class just the page after and Mathematics lesson after that...messy and difficult to follow! grin grin

Yes you can pursue anywhere in the world and if you succeed, can come back to Nigeria and take your familly or they can follow the protocol by themselves of joining you in Canada. There is an EE thread on NL and you might want to follow there with them. This one is strictly student visa.

I don't think these are the best public policy schools in Canada. Every public policy school claims they are the best. I think University of Calgary Public Policy school is one of the best and offers full scholarship to all the students accepted to its masters program. That is how you know who is the best. The best public policy schools have full scholarship for two years. University of Saskatchewan is one of the best too. But then I am partial because I am going there.

I will look at the 3 aforementioned and give you my take.
Great submission Jnyuwa,

Please if don't mind, does Uni of Sask (MA Public Policy) have scholarship/funding for their international students intake?

Just to say though...International Affairs is broader than Public Policy grad studies...I understand why we can't do the comparison. Thanks for the heads up though...

Hello fore-bearers,

Is it true that if I bring along my original Nigerian license (with a Letter of Good Conduct from the Federal Road Safety Corps [FRSC] that you have been a licensed driver for Bleep number of years without any documented issue and consistent renewal of ones license over the years), you may get waiver on waiting time to getting a particular type/class of canadian driver license.

Also, in the same vein, if one can get the Nigerian insurance company who have been insuring one for a while to issue a Letter of Good Conduct that one has not been involved in any accident over the years and that one has not claim insurance sums within a time frame, that one can get better priced insurance package as a first time car owner in Canada.

How true are these facts?

Thanks.

2. Of course, keep pursuing your PR till you hear a final verdict. Even when you are on student visa and your wife and children are in Nigeria, it ain't over till it's all over.

On a different note, what are the 3 top public policy school that you applied? I ask because every public policy school I looked into, says they are the best.
Thanks Jnyuwa,

Are you sure I can keep pursuing the PR hustle even if I am in Canada as an international student?

When we get it, will I have to fly in to Nigeria to take my family so that we can do the proper landing procedure in Canada?

Meanwhile, my applications are for MA International Affairs/ Global Governance

1. Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University
2. Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at University of Ottawa
3. Balsillie School of International Affairs at University of Waterloo

Research them and let me know what you think about the competitiveness of getting admitted into these schools (even for Canadian citizens) grin grin

I'll appreciate your kind reply response to the above questions.

Oboy, this CPA waka is a good one but expensive.

I did for CPA Ontario's Internationally Trained Accountants (ITA) route. To apply for transcript from ICAN and paying for the process with CPA Ontario cost me some almost 400k naira...

Go to ICAN office to begin the process, meanwhile before then, review the requirements of the website of CPA Alberta- the forms to fill and the amount to pay.

If your application is eventually approved, CPA Alberta will advice you on the papers (Core 1 and 2, CFE etc) that you will challenge (write/take) to become a full CPA in canada.

All the best.
