symbianDON: I stopped reading at the point were the op said the said pastor is first a Nigerian. I personally think it's wrong. every Christian ought to see himself first as a Christian before considering his nationality. yes! the blogger woman went beyond her boundaries by miles but the question is, 'what would Jesus have done if it were Him in the pastor's place?'.....this ought to form the basis upon which a Christian should take decisions in critical matters as this. this is my personal opinion though. He would have chosen to allow blood of goats and pigeons to continue to atone for our sins.He would have allowed satan and its agents to continue to oppress human nature because of forgiveness. See why Jesus chose to make a one-time sacrifice so that such wouldn't replay itself. The pastor simply made a one time sacrifice that will ensure Olunloyo wont do it for other people both inside and outside of the Christedom. |

hopefulLandlord: I'm for real, unlike your imaginary friend
I'm doing "other things" with my life, its no use saying those things on Nairaland
but you, you claimed a Jew that was killed in a small Israeli village died for your misdemeanors
Take a look at a map. You're in a small country off the coast of west africa. Try to locate Israel on that map and estimate the distance between you and Israel. Think about the number of cultures, governments, people, histories and stories that you'd journey through if you were to trek to Israel by foot. So someone who was killed in one small village there was dying for your sins? I pity you.
and oh! the Jews themselves who lived during Jesus time didn't even believe Jesus was the Messiah, that's why THERE ARE MORE MUSLIMS IN ISRAEL THAN THERE ARE CHRISTIANS
The religious affiliation of the Israeli population as of 2011 was 75.4% Judaism , 16.9% Muslim , 2.1% Christian
but a Nigerian read from a book and quickly believes the Jews were wrong; a book written by anonymous authors
Nigerians need to free themselves from all these nonsense People with the same thinking as yours in civilized world are promoting societal development with their unbelief but the only job I see you so here is to purposely destroy another mans grand work. If you have problem with the solutions provided from a religious perspective, why not humbly and simply create an alternative platform where people who are atheist and religiously unaffiliated can benefit from. There u can seek solution to problems associated with different perspectives of couples, not all this juvenile approach. It wont do you and your community any better except you don't care. Thanks |
Christianity Etc › Re: Kemi Olunloyo: Pastor Ibiyeomie Has Acted Unchrist-like by tejpot(m): 12:06pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
linearity: Nothing in what I said, suggested that Christians cannot defend themselves when hauled before a Judge or that it is unchrist like to do so.
Jesus went before Pilate, he defended himself and as Christians, we must defend ourselves.
My point is, Jesus, Paul, Peter, Silas, etc never hauled their accusers before a Judge, if you find a scripture reference that contridicts that, please let me know. You are correct at the fact that, the people you mentioned didn't take their accusers before the judge but historically speaking, there was no media trial in their days, but you will agree with me here that in this present day there is media trial. And the public have already nailed you before any argument can be proven in your favour. From research, fake news spreads like fire with the help of social media. Since his trial started the day he was accused the first line of defense is the authority. |

cos Nigerians will defend that pastor till death.
I look around me, and the people that carry church for head like gala have the worst characters.
So I'm not surprised.
Most Nigerian christians are hypocrites. Not everybody is in the busiess of 'carrying church on the head'. I am a realistic theorist and my opinions are usually laced with experience and what is reasonably acceptable in a modern society. You should also be able to state your own opinion about the matter and not conclusively assert that Most Nigerian christians are hypocrite when you have not done any better in terms of contribution on the same issue. If it is about hypocrisy, you and the people you are referring to have that in common. They are defending the pastor to death and you are condemning them to death. Same of the same! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Kemi Olunloyo: Pastor Ibiyeomie Has Acted Unchrist-like by tejpot(m): 11:46am On Apr 02, 2017 |
linearity: Men, you spoke like someone who is alien to the Christian faith and not grounded in the Bible.
Do you know how many unbelievers blasphemed against Christ? How many did he take to court? The Bible commands us to be Christ-like, Pastors have to be christians first, forgive others their sins, so the Heavenly Father will forgive you your sins, so said the Bible.
Secondly, you are totally wrong that Pastors or Preachers convert souls, we are only admonished to preach the gospel, it is the Holly Spirit that convert souls.
Saul Persecuted Peter and the early Apostles even unto death, non took him to court, none even prayed curse on him, they blessed him and shown him love until God touched Saul.
These Pastors are doing more damages to the Christian faith by these actions. Vegence is mine said God.
Jesus said, he that is without sin, should cast the first stone. We are all sinners, including these Pastors and cannot cast any stone at someone for what they have done.
What happened to turning the other cheek, when you are slapped or forgiving 7x77 times a day, when you are offended.
There is no yardstick in the Bible by which you can measure these and concluded that these Pastos are Christians i.e. Christ-Like period! To the bolded, When the same Paul was also accused and being tried, he did defend himself in the court and followed the roman costitutional authority. By your analogy, one would have thought that Paul will not waste time in prolonging the trial, he would simply have turned himself in and accept the whole accusation and afterward forgive them. But he subjected himself to the constitution even though he believes there is a better Jugde which is God. The pastor is also subjected to the constitution and he is using it. If it favours him or not is a separate case entirely. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Kemi Olunloyo: Pastor Ibiyeomie Has Acted Unchrist-like by tejpot(m): 11:30am On Apr 02, 2017 |
alBHAGDADI: Your response shows you didn't read my post where I said that he's suppose to save her as a Christian Should, not have her arrested. Christ had the ability to destroy his killers, but he didn't. If pastor Ibiyeomie calls himself a follower of Christ, he ought to have emulated that. Do you know that amount of souls that were won and are still being won an a result of Christ not retaliating against his persecutors? Again the pastor did nothing wrong. I remember there is a passage in the bible where Christ advised his followers to settle matters with their adversaries before they get to court or else they will spend all their savings in to get a desired judgment. But the person accusing refused to let this matter go, what would you expect the accuser do? The court is the best place in that instance. So always read your bible and do an entire exposition not this selective work you have done All the examples you cited where places where the people involved took or were willing to take laws into there hands. He simply reported to the authority. But this case he is not the judge and cannot therefore be said to have done nothing wrong. |

sinistermind: I am only saying when price of commodities especially locally produced food items start coming down, that's when the common man can feel the change in the economy. Ask yourself since naira started appreciating, have there been any reduction in price of locally produced food items? I like that! The simple answer is in two parts, 1. We are our own problem, because our wickedness is unquantifiable. And remember that in the first place, the rise in prices of commodities as we witnessed in the last one year is particularly driven by the unreliable forex. And most locally produced items witnessed forced increase in prices due to increase in foreign food items. I have asked local producers that same question. There answers, we bought our raw materials in January and we are still selling old stocks. A grocery owner once told me that local food vendors sell cheap because imported goods are cheaper. Why did the prices go up in the first place? Why cant it go down? Simply wickedness. |

sinistermind: What some people don't understand is that even if Dollar goes down to 150naira, it doesn't concern the ordinary Nigerian man, unless price simple food items go back to normal. So as long as everything is still on the high side, Nigeria is still in recession to these ordinary Nigerians. By extension, if the naira keeps going up even up to N1000, it doesn't affect the common man. Think!! |
