Nairaland GeneralNairalanders: Help Benjamin Tola Regain His Hearing by tejpot(op):
Hello Nairalanders, I am sharing a post from my friends facebook post. We attended our Masters Programme together. Her son Benjamin Oluwafolajimi TOLA whos is just two years old is in dare need of surgery for a hearing impairment condition known as Severe to Profound Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL).

The hearing test results indicate that he can only hear less than 20 percent of what is optimal for him and this is the reason he has not been able to achieve meaningful speech at two years old.

The only treatment requires that he undergoes an operation at the Department of ENT, National Hospital Abuja, Nigeria, to have the Bilateral Cochlear Implant inserted to enable him Hear and subsequently achieve Speech. The ENT Consultant doctor has advised that this procedure must be carried out compulsorily latest by January, 2018.

The cost of the operation is 11.3 Million Naira (about 32,000 US Dollars). This sum is too huge for her very young conjugal family and immediate extended family to raise. We would appreciate every bit you can give as your little drops will make an ocean for her baby.

A gofundme account has been set up for that purpose. Here is her mother's post on facebook

(Please help share.Thank you.)
Good day friends and family.
Please help support this cause for my baby. I had to use an American address (my friend's) because this fundraising platform cannot be used in Nigeria where we currently live.
Those in Nigeria can please support by sending their donations to this account:
Bank:Access Bank Nigeria
Account name: Dr. Tola Monday
Account number: 0043637863
To confirm this message is not a scam, you can reach either of us on our mobile numbers
Tola Monday: +2348027180211
Tola Oluwatomilayo : +2348171016556
Thank you and God bless you all. Amen.
Any medical document required as a proof will be provided by Benjamin's mum (Tola Oluwatomilayo) and dad (Tola Monday).

I and other friends of her mum have started little contribution to support a campaign for Benjamin. We plan to post his banner on some well known platforms that can help propagate this cause. Your suggestions on this forum are welcomed.

Please kindly help move this to the front page. God bless you all!

Instead of dashing pastor your money, give it to certain persons who are in need. They'll value it more and their hearts would pray for u.

sowing and reaping is a natural law, not a spiritual law. Even if an atheist or animist gives, he also receives.

Most of those who pay tithes are usually poorer than those who give to charity. Tithers try to bribe God by giving to receive, not freely but expecting something in return. Those who give to charity give freely, not expecting anything in return.

This is why you find the highest number of churches in the poorest areas. The poverty in Nigeria is to the benefit of the churches in Nigeria.
I love this view of yours!

One thing is common in recent times to part(s) of countries trying to break away, they want it by force and fire. But as long as you are still part of that country, whatever happens to you is your cross to carry. Trying to secede is not the problem, its the process that leads to secession that matters. Questions to be asked such as, how are we going to make it this as painless as possible with minimal casualty? Until then, secession is still about declaring war on the govt.

United State is the most indebted country in the world with over 20 trillion dollars national dept and yet a capitalist nation. But the irony is, everyone wants to be in the US. Lagos is the most indebted state in Nigeria with billions of dollars in debt and yet capitalist driven, again, everyone wants to be in Lagos.

PhonesRe: My Bitter Experience With Airtel Unlimited 20 Data Plan... How Airtel Blocked Me by tejpot(m): 4:01pm On Aug 26, 2017
nairalandfreak:
When Airtel rolled out its unlimited plan in July I was one of the numerous Nigerians who believed that it was going to be a huge relief to my data challenges. A week before I needed the plan I Int to deposit N10,000 at the Ilorin Airtel Shop
I'd like to state clearly that I am subscribed to Airtel Unlimited 20which I bought, precisely on Friday 28th of July. I was given a MIFI
a SIM with phone no 08084517720 alongside the data plan.
Since I purchased the device I have not been able to use the product and I have had to subscribe to an alternative network as a back up for Airtel's bad service... this has caused me a lot of money has I have not enjoyed Airtel service for once in the last 27 days.

I have been to Airtel Ilorin contact centre over 5 times complaining about the issue without it being resolved. ( I'd like to state clearly without mincing words that you Shop Manager in Ilorin is TERRIBLE, without no iota of concern for customers) I have call records to prove this.

There was a day I was in Airtel Ilorin contact centre two weeks ago for 3 hours this same man refuse to communicate with me.

Eventually on Friday 4th of August an Airtel engineer was assigned to visit our office he came and attested to the fact that the network was not good despite the fact that an Airtel mast was opposite our office and there was no obstruction. I was assured that the issue would be resolved over that weekend.

But when I came to office on the monday following (7th August) I was shocked to observe that the network was still terrible.

I called the Ilorin contact centre shop manager to tell them the network is still bad almost two weeks after purchasing Airtel Unlimited 20.
When I called the manager I asked him if the engineers came to fix the issue as promised and all he said was "are you the only one experiencing the issue? and I replied his with "how am I supposed to know? He said go and ask people around you if they are experiencing the issue and he ended the call abructly!

I initially refrained from going public but when I contacted airtel via their inbox I was reassured that the issue would be resolved...
I like to state that it is a very long story but I dont want to bore you with it...

The important thing is Airtel kept promising me with diplomatic words that the issue would be resolved but precisely on August 16 while I was trying to make a follow up inquiry on Airtel Facebook I discovered that I had been blocked on Airtel facebook page.. I need to state clearly that I was neither rude nor insultive but Airtel decided to block me because they couldn't profer a solution to my complaint...

I called Airtel again and reported the whole issue and all they could do was reply me with the usual all inconviniecies are regretted.... bla bla bla
It is exactly 27 days today that I subscribed to Airtel unlimited 20 and it is expiring in 3 days time...the data plan was a waste and for complaining to Airtel.. I got blocked.

It is only in Nigeria customers are offered poor service delivery and get blocked for trying to air their view so bad!
No one is attending to you on their facebook page, its just an automated response. And perhaps that's where the problem is, not that you have been blocked
FamilyRe: Help!!! Should I Go On With My White Wedding? by tejpot(m): 6:20pm On Aug 12, 2017
I love this!
PaperLace:
Dear OP,

Whether you cancel the white wedding or not _ you're already married. Marriage isn't relationship where you can waltz in and out as you like. It's an oath, binding on both parties.

Be careful how you bring your issues to the public, considering that your mind is currently fragile. The general rule, may not apply to your situation. I don't think any responsible married person would tell you to walk away so soon. I have domineering in-laws too, your wife's whole family can never be as rude as my FIL alone _ but you handle such people with wisdom (now that you're already married). If you weren't married, I would have said run.

The early days of most marriages are like this. One person will always see the other as a demon, while painting him/herself as the angel. You are not an angel, I am sure your wife would sound just as bitter as you, if she creates her own thread. What you have to do is win your wife to your side. Once you genuinely win your wife to your side, she would handle her family.

The last post on your wife and SIL, you didn't do well.
If that's your own attitude, then you and your wife need orientation. Why does your wife shout? Is she a mad woman? Has she always been like this? What is she always shouting about?

My husband also doesn't know how to discuss in low tones, he must raise his voice. I used to join him, until I sat and thought about it _two people no dey mad at the same time. He did it again and I ignored, I politely told him he is embarrassing US and we would talk when he is calm. He still repeated it and I used all my self-control to keep ignoring.

One day, he called me and asked why I have been refusing to get angry. I started laughing and we had a talk that changed a lot till this moment. People like that know what they are doing to a good extent, the best medicine for them is to show them how normal people express themselves. Don't come down to their level, don't go begging unnecessarily _ just express yourself firmly.
When you do this over and over, they'll come to revere your silence and few words.

You mould your spouse to be who you want them to be. There is really no perfect spouse at first, but we mould them to our perfection with time.

Captain your ship as best as you can _all with the dignity of a king.

This day celebrates the natural environment and allows a global platform to raise awareness on the environmental issues worldwide, with plans to mitigate these issues as a global community.

The theme for 2017 is 'Connecting People to Nature – in the city and on the land, from the poles to the equator'. The host nation is Canada.

Below are pictures of how our most cherished nature has been destroyed in different parts of Nigeria.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Hope For A Graduate by tejpot(m):
my name is joshua a chemical engineering graduate. it is so difficult to survive as a hardworking, honest and God fearing person here in Nigeria. After my NYSC i have been struggling from place to place, looking for opurtunities. i always shuttle from lagos to portharcourt...thinking that one day it will be well. i just discovered that it will never be well..

When we were in secondary school we were told to get a good course..my parents were happy when i got chemical engineering..then in school it was get a good result..that was no problem, i got a second class upper.

Ater service it was get certified..ahh, no wahala.. i got my NEBOSH certificate..then again some said it was connection..ok, i joined lots of proffesional whatsapp groups after much work, i even had to pay for some...funny enough the so called proffesional group failed woefully.

twice i was called for a job brief..twice i was rejected..the first reason was because i am igbo the woman saw my name and her countenance changed though she dashed me 2k and told me the usual words i would get back to you..ok, fair enough. The second was in portharcourt i was rejected because
of my church..Roman catholic.. hmmm. A young man was also rejected for same reason he kept on complaining while i was just laughing..though later i begged him for #100 for my TP, he gave me sha.. he is a nice man.

ok. i had to go back to the drawing board..met some people and they said i should just do further courses..oooo! course again, ok.. no wahala. i begged my mum to sell her bike for 110k so i can add 30k and do process safety and loss prevention..she accepted.. i sold the bike and did the course.. yet, no interview call. i said ok let me visit companies and give them the cv..my brother no show.

i sat still again..and then reviewed my cv..paid 2k for push CV to review the cv..still no luck.. downloaded CV review app used it time and time again. same results.. no calls.

the only thing i get everyday is insults from my Father and some relatives of how lazy and weak i am...this is not fair life itself is not fair..is it not better to die? after working hard in school and after school for about 8-10 years no result for it..

People will always say dont be tired but my brother i don tire... i know many of us have same story, but for me the only thing i can do to make the pain easy.. is write..

Nigeria is not worth it.. did i tell you i briefly went into business?.. but how can you do well in business without long time experience.. it is always difficult..well, the pressure is much and i see that breaking point is close... only God knows Tomorrow.

These days the only thing that comes to my mind is suicide..i have downloaded lots of books to see if i can find a solution.. but none yet.. please if you have good advice for me i am willing to hear it.

thanks
E Joshua
Please take note of sensible advice given to you on this platform and discard the senseless ones.

As I have keenly observed, much of your quest to getting a job is has been systemic and self gratifying. In itself, that is a plus because it has proven that you are not given to excuses and you are not a lazy person. As a christian, you will agree with me that 'by strength shall no man prevail'. Put that into consideration first.
Now you will have to really take a journey through the path of self discovery. The purpose is to discover yourself through Gods eye. You will have to ask the following questions
1. What do I want for myself?
2. What does God want from me?
3. What does God demand of me?
4. What is God's purpose for my life?

Your answers to the above questions will simplify the task of ahead of you to discover yourself. Take note that it is never too late to start such a journey. I can't promise you that the journey will be very short, but all I can say is, the journey time has reduced by you bringing the matter out on this platform.

I am not laying down a particular order of principles that you should operate by, that is in fact left for you to determine. But there is something which is common, God is ready to receive us at anytime when we realize how proud we have become and how far away we have been from Him. In addition, the harder the battle sometimes the sweeter the victory.

Go to the Lord in prayer, rediscover your Spirituality, understand God so he can understand you more readily, fast and pray in other to inflict the respect of humility, give to the poor as much as you can afford.

This principles are common to all those who sing the song of victory and I pray that in no time you will sing your own victory song

Thanks.

I think it is high time we found a solution to this current demon camouflaging as suicide.

One will be for the government to establish free and easily accessible counselling centers.

Another is to include the value of life in our curriculum so we can encourage this carrier path

And finally, our NGOs and religious bodies should face this menace one time with community outreach programmes targeted at listening to peoples dilemmas and challenges with a view to solving or connecting them to appropriate authorities or groups who will be willing to help.

Suicide is not an option, it is an act of wickedness!
