idoo4love: hello temmytanny....pls I can't find my waec certificate... If I go wit a letter from waec,wil it be accepted or wat can I do?pls advice me...thanks and God bless!!!!

Am not sure about this but i would want the house to react to it,personally i would advice you get a waec scratch card with it if eventually you dint succeed in getting the certificate the embassy could check online.

Please lets not say sorry yet,i belive he can stil get it,i guess the embassy may run some back ground checks on him and his wife.Please watch out,they may visit you when you least expected it.Stil get yourself familiarised with your wife cos they could call you on phone or visit the address you gave.Personally,i guess they want to do some surprise back ground checks to know if your marriage is real or not since you werent able to defend it during the interview

Before i can give an advice,i need to ask if you were given any document or paper to come within the one year or not?

Ibracadabra: It all started last year. In fact it was february 2011. I was so happy when I got an email saying I had won the DV visa lottery. I went crazy with joy- screaming out my lungs in excitement- only to find out it was a SCAM email! My heart sunk and my face fell when I was told that KCC doesn't send emails and that winners are NOT chosen in february. It was emotionally traumatic. I couldn't believe SCAM people had gotten to me- and even though their mail didn't ask me to pay anything; I eventually confirmed it was a fake letter after logging in with my confirmation no.

This experience made me swear I would never apply for this visa lottery thing. I was angry with everybody- including myself and my friend in America who applied for me that year.

So- October last year, the same friend in America called me and asked for my details so he could register for me again.. But I still felt bad about d scam so I told him I wasn't interested- but he persisted and I said to him impolitely, "Shay u get my details last year- use am again"

I didn't know he even registered- and I forgot d entire gist until May 2nd when he called me screaming on d fone... I asked him what happened and he told me I won.

I couldn't believe my ears. I was like, "won what?... Did you register for me?"

That was how I won o... I immediately used DHL to send d completed forms to KCC on 6th May and they confirmed reception... I kept praying, reading and that's when I fell in love with Nairaland and this forum in particular.

I can beat my chest and say I read every single page of both the 2012 and 2013 forums and this helped me prepare perfectly for today...

I woke up today by 4 am... I got a cab and got to d embassy by 5:05am and there were 5 ppl already waiting for d embassy to open. I was happy I was early, but eventually that didn't mean I got interviewed early. There was a lot of bureaucracy, lines to follow, tags to collect, I even had to drop pay N300 to drop my fone with one mallam outside.

We were searched at least 3 times and then we moved in to wait. They collected our original and photocopies. In fact d guy that collected my credentials finished from my school... So he was very friendly- and at that moment; I remembered all d prayers u guys said for me- and I knew it was God at work. I mean: how often do u meet your alumuni at d embassy? His cheerfulness settled me mentally and I waited for d interview proper.

I was called to Window 14 and a pretty blonde was d CEO. She gave me my form to sign and took my fingerprints.

This is how it went:


CO: Swear to say d truth, d whole truth and nothing but d truth

Me- I do

CO: Congratulations on your Visa Lottery

Me- Thank You

CO- tell me about your educational background

Me- okay, where do u want me to start from? Nursery? Primary?

CO- Umm. Primary

Me- took her through my educational background

CO- Why did you study Microbiology?

Me- as a kid; I always wanted to b a scientist and we watched a lot of Discovery Channel and Crime TV- so that spurred as kids to excel in sciences

CO- (smiled when I said Crime TV), so tell me- what do u do now?

Me- I told her

CO- when u get to America, what do u wanna do?

Me- I'll further my studies and probably specialise in pharmacology

CO- Hold on one minute (she started typing)... Your Visa has been APPROVED. (She encircled an address on a white paper) next wednesday Ĝø and pick it up. Congratulations

I was smiling like an idiot and she smiled back

CO: Oh you should try modelling. I think you'd have a shot at it

Me: Thank you (my head wan burst)

CO: Oh hold on: have u been ever married

Me: No

CO: any kids?

Me- No

CO: Ok, have a nice day

That's all folks... I'm going to party tonight

ogbonlowob: Please kindly respond: As per the police report, does it mean that within 3 months before expiry, one must have used it for the embassy interview or is the 3 months to mean one must leave for U.S. within 3 months if granted visa. If it the 3 months is for embassy interview for example, and my 2nd notification letter says my interview is say Jan. 18th 2013. If I do my police report, say today, it will mean it will expire on the 18th of February. Now since the interview falls within the 3 month n before the expiration of police report, why is it necessary to do it 10 days to interview. OR is the 3 months for depature to US, cos I read where it says on this thread that when issued visa u must leave within 6 months. Please, kindly n gently explain. Anybody who knows in the house. musnt expire before your interview,after wards,you are freeeee but not same for medicals.Medicals expires after 6months,interview of no interview

dawton: Is it under must that one must do is police report and medical a week to the interview because my interview is in last week of december and I have done my police report last week and going for medical on tuesday.

Neva a must but adviseable you do it 10days before your interview especially police report cos it expires withing 3months.

You may be right but when they called me about it,they actually said it wont cost me more than $50 once i present my transcript to them.Looking at your quotation,seems they will make the request directly from your institution and you not making the moves,pls correct me if am wrong.

Ibracadabra: As per transcripts, I understand that most US schools would require that you have your transcripts evaluated by WES... In other words, that your school mails your transcripts to WES- which evaluates it for a fee (about $200) and then WES sends your evaluated transcript to your school of choice...

I don't know how it works for all schools; but I doubt most US schools would take a Nigerian transcript hand delivered by you... If your school in Nigeria is sending it directly to them, that may b accepted as well... Like I said, these conditions could vary from school to school...

I dont think its up to $200,far less than $50.Your transcripts will be graded in to points and that will determine where to continue your education here in US.I have a friend that was told to do 9months BSC before he can go for his Masters,i dont think its bad at all.
Any job you apply online here will ask you if you wanna continue to your career,if you click yes,you will see velocity of mails and calls you will get regarding careers here,attimes i get frustrated.As a family man,job first ,settled down ,more money in pocket tru mini jobs before going back to school.Things are flexible here that you can merge you edu with jobs.

Just bring your transcript along if you can get it. I couldnt get mine (FUTA)cos the school dont release it by hand.

emebeteaderashn: may be yours is in the same year of birth but in my case the birth certificate was issued for me 22 years after my birth,do you think its a problem

if you are doubt your birth certificate go for NPC cert if you are Nigerian but if u arent nigeria,relax and go for your interview

no issue at all cos i was born sept and issued nov,my baby's own was august and issued sept.Am not sure but i guess thats the norm

jay92: firstly i got to d embassy @ 6:45 am. was d first in d queue after revisiting ma days in the atletics team.(i mean running).we were called and told minimum requirement was wassce ssce nd one other(dont remembr),only original documents plus photocpy .no certified copy and u must have passed eng and maths
NOTE.i gave them affidavit of support but dey returned it(was not needed)
any questions .am ghanaian

different embassy with different rules. Are u saying Credits in eng and maths or just pass(P7 or D7)?In Nigeria,i submitted only one certificate (SSCE)with no English(P7)but 7credits and i was granted.
