i arrived lagos u.s. embassy at exactly 10mins to 6am. when it was 6:30am,a guy came to announce that all non-immigrant for 6:30am interview should queue up. shortly,the guy then came to announce for 7:00am interview for immigrant category in which i belong. lucky enough, i was the first person in the immigrant queue category. after all thier series of announcement ranging from opening the medical envelope,what not to enter in with and series of security checks,i was finally ushered in. note, while you move from one point to another, make sure you secure all tally number given to you. after paying the 330dollar which was 54500naira,i was called to submit all my credentials. i submitted all i came with and the lady took just the needed ones e.g nysc cert, degree cert, neco cert, npc birth cert,epassport,three passport photo,one photocopy for each credentials and also the police and medical report. in summary, interview started after waiting for like 1hr 50mins. i was the first to be interview today in the immigrant category.

Please I want to ask: did photocopy the police certificate when u went for your interview or did you leave it stapled like it was given to u? If yes; did you also photocopy d second page that had your finger prints on it?

Secondly, for those who used NPC birth certificate (I remember Temmy used Local Govt); did u guys photocopy your NPC and also d affidavit you used in getting it?

Pls any suggestions and answers hitherto would b priceless

I dont know much about NPC certificate maybe people that knows will answer your question.I made photocopy of my police report front and back but they only collected the original from me,so i would advice you do same just incase

goldenfish4u: This is what I found on another forum, might help someone especially the later part of it.

If you are lucky and you have won you will get directions on what forms to fill out,take passport photographs attach to the forms and send them to the united states.. starting October 1 every year is when selected pple start going to the embassies around the world for interviews..if your number out of the 100,000 was between 1-5000 you will be definitely interviewed .....you would receive second letter commonly known as appointment letter asking you to go to US embassy at certain date,asking you to go for medical test with US embassy doctors, it also details what documents needed for the interview. also tells you visa fee which is non refundable if you are refused finally when your date comes ..its here that will determine whether your among the 50,000 going to the US or the 50,000 who are not going.
Factors of your ineligibility to get US immigrant visa are:-
-false documents
failure to express ur self at the interview
HIV positive (exempted now), other STD
Failure to raise money to process visa
Crime -e.t.c

when you are granted visa ..you have 6months to enter usa and you will be given a brown envelope A4 SIZE which shouldnt be opened and has writings saying :OFFICIAL NOTICE..THIS BELONGS TO THE US GOVT..IT SHOULDNT BE OPENED OR TAMPERED WITH............etc The day you enter the US you hand in the package and your passport is stamped with a stamp commonly known as ADIT STAMP its at this point you will hear the words "welcome to the US you have been admitted to the US as a legal permanent resident......" .that stamp is very important it shows your status in USA, you can use it look for employment,apply drivers licence,bank account and you can go out of the US and enter usa with that stamp..you will be finger printed and your told your free to go..at this point you walk away from the us airport and go to the address you have told them during finger printing. after 2-3weeks your card will be at your address. You can apply for US passport after 5years if you have kept good conduct,or if you marry US citizen(person with US passport ) it takes 3yrs to get passport, when you join army its like 2yrs ope this information will be helpfull US resident since december 2010,LIVED IN LONDON and born in africa

I give all glory and thanks to God for HIS favour over us . I did my interview with my family and it was successful.
I did on same date with brigthmon at the same time but different window. I guess it’s d only 2 of us they interviewed for dv within the 1 hour spent there. We were calm and tried to listen to questions being asked other people that were interviewed.

*2NL submitted at the gate
*Security Check Points
*Made DV Payments
*A guy called to submit the Originals and Photocopy of all our credentials

Then after waiting a while,CO Called my wife’s number to d window

This is how the questions goes: just about 6 questions in all (me & wife):

Co: Good Morning
we: Good Morning

Co: where is ur payment slip
we: gave to him

Co: Right Hand up and Promise you will tell me nothing but the truth
we: we Promise

Co: Take your finger print
we: we did

Co: asked me to go and sit down for a while
Co: why have you not been working?
My wife: answered him---applied for some but yet to get one.

Co: asked again : why have you not been working?
My wife: answered him---applied for some but yet to get one and because of my present pregnancy, my husband told me to hold on for a while.

[b]Co: what are the Subjects you did in your WAEC? Note: my wife used NECO(6 credits) but we also filled WAEC(only 2 passes) in our form ds 230.though we did not attach the WAEC result but they asked for it---just to be sure we have d 12 year elementary schooling.

Co: how did you study for the exams?
My wife: Told him--- reading at home, in d library and group discussion with course mates

Co: asked my wife to call me
Co: how did you meet your wife?
Me: I told him------ through her sister who was my classmate

Co: when did you got married
Me: I told him

Co: do you have any picture you took together?
we: we brought out 2 albums (wedding) and opened one for him page by page . We opened about 4 pages and stopped. He said we should open more pages and we did.

Co: Kindly sign the column on the form (Form DS-0230 Part 2 )
we: signed

Co: he waved to our son and asked : is he your only son and we said yes?
Co: congratulation. Your Visa has been approved. You are welcome to America
Co: he circled one of the 2 addresses on a white paper, gave it to us and asked us to go picked our visas on the address
we: thank you .

And that was it !!!!!!!!!!

Please, go with all your certificates but make sure you put the required ones in one envelop and others in another envelop. I wonder what would have happened if we don’t have my wife’s WAEC result with only 2 passes that was demanded.

ALSO, PLEASE BE HONEST EVEN IF YOU HAVE ISSUES. THEY ARE ALSO HUMAN BEING.

I really thank God for this and everyone in this forum that have been contributing in one way or the other. We were over prepared using all the information we gathered from this great forum people. This forum has really helped us and we really give thanks once again. I also pray that everyone here we surely share the same success story.(AMEN)

Let me first congratulate you and your family on your success. About flight,it think its best you go for UNITED(cos its direct flight and less 14hours)but i would strongly suggest you call diff airlines to ask if they can accommodate pregnant woman.
We now know there is no AOS and one can combine WAEC and NECO,so i would advice those going for interview to relax and get all correct documents in place and leave the rest for BABA GOD.Wishing you all the very best ahead

I sensed a little fear in you cos of my statement,pls dont ooooo moreover your wife has a good result.Tell her to study her best subjects and the ones with good grades.
I just belived those with higher education(and correct document) are more respected than those with SSCE. I noticed those with higher education are less scrutinized than those with SSCE(as their highest level of education).I want the house to correct me if am wrong.

mannet: House,please kindly ignore swisstourist,his only very lazy and i guess he's one of those who always had the illusion that the streets of America is tarred with dollars or dollars grow on trees in USA,imagine even from his analysis it shows he's either very lazy or extravagant;if u have a job that pays $7(N1120)/hour in USA,pls tell me where the hell in Nigeria will u be paid such amount on hourly basis,even after tax i believe u will still take home like N900 Naira.
It's his type that don't want hardworking people,friends,families and co-workers to succeed,he will always feel threatened anytime he sees people struggling to make it.Even when some of my friends in UK,USA and other European countries complain about the hardship/economy i just smile and ask tell them if life is that hard for u then pack ur load and come back to Naija but they will never try it,some them have spent 8 years overseas USA inclusive they are yet to come back home due to "hardship"...so guys don't let anyone discourage u from achieving ur dreams,No matter how bad USA is,it can never be as rotten and destroyed as Nigeria.Period! At least their leaders are even making efforts to salvage the economy but our own leaders are plunging the country into debts,embezzlement,corruption, and the masses suffering like hell....come to Chinese and Indian companies in Lagos and see young men,factory workers working for 8k/month.
