Fadelex: firstly, I sympathize with the families of the lost souls, may God almighty comfort them in this hard time. I can see everybody descending on the police, you people couldn't even verify the story before crucifying them. I bet most of you abusing the police are the same set of people that crashed their recruitment website. The doctor insisted the accident wasn't caused by overspeeding, can he tell us what caused it? I ply this road every week and I'm telling you accident can only occur there due to overspeeding as it is a dualized road from abuja to kano. People are rightly descending on the Police because 1) It is thoroughly in keeping with past antecedents of the Nigerian Police, where even bribes are often sought before response to armed robbery attacks 2) it is also not plausible that a vehicle containing senior medical doctors would be over-speeding seriously without the medical doctors - who know all too well the dangers of over-speeding - calling him to order Fadelex: Lastly, when we say the country is in total mess, the doctor dont get it I guessed. the same way doctors dont attend to emergency situations unless deposit are made is the samr way police treated them. the police might not have fuel in their vehicle, so was the doc expecting preferential treatment? all sectors need to be sanitized before we can attain greatness. i think now we can see the root cause of your beef. There is a big difference. Doctors usually aren't the owners of the hospitals, and the hospital proprietors often mandate payment for all services. While it is tragic in many cases, there are innumerable cases of patients being treated and failing to pay, ensuring severe sanctions on the doctor who himself has mouths to feed. You should devote your energies to push for a more widespread health insurance program in Nigeria so people are treated. On the other hand, it is the duty of Police to carry those people. The vehicles, fuel and time of the police officers are already being paid for by Nigerian taxpayers. It is a DUTY for Police to carry survivors without any payment or bribe. No contest |

CopyLearner: IMO, sexual abuse is most perpetrated on the male child. It does no damage physically on them as compared to a female child ,but it messes with them psychologically, although the guys are even oblivious of it. That's why we have a lot of messed up guys in the society. How many guys lose their virginity or have a near sexual experience before they clock 10? Trust me, the statistics is alarming. Now many of the women screaming they want equality bill to be passed are doing so for the wrong reasons. A woman has as much right, and even more, than a man, with or without the bill but many of the charlatans are viewing it as an opportunity to rub shoulders with men in a 'men' world. That's just the beginning of the end. First you say women have as much right as a man. next you say 'women are trying to 'rub shoulders with men in a 'men' world' Can you see how thoroughly confused and misogynistic you are? The fact that you imagine ALL women in Nigeria have equality guaranteed in all cultures is appalling. Please let us know the last time a male heir was disinherited over his gender, or the last time a widower was forced to drink the water used to wash the dead body of his wife. |

I bought my Range Rover sport in 2010, guess what ?? It's dead in my garage.
Nigerians are the only ignorant people on earth To be honest, I think you're the only fool here. Innoson is an untrusted brand without a long enough history for people to be very confident about the purchase. It doesn't help that it's made from assembled cheap chinese parts. Your Range rover vs Innoson comparison makes no sense. Your town folk bought a new Innoson vehicle. You bought a well used, old model Range Rover and drove it into the ground. No comparison. By the way, Innoson vehicles weren't on sale in 2008. You should learn to tell the truth sometimes. |

oduastates: 4th mainland bridge is a shortsighted waste of money as a result of lack of planning.
Why do we need another bridge to a tiny island, that will be under water, in less than 100 years. Like the badly concieved mega city thingie, which has resulted in the spread of an urban ghetto sprawl, this money would have been better spent on reclaiming what has been lost. Instead of a single business district , would it not have been better to have a series of business districts like the central business district. Like one business district in Ketu, Surulere, Agege and Ojo respectively thereby reducing the need for a new bridge all the time. That money would also be better spent building a subway system or urban railways system. There's no guarantee that Lekki axis will be submerged in 100 years, and even a 60 year lifespan of the bridge is acceptable. Going by your logic, you may well condemn the building of refineries since the world may likely run out of oil in 50 years |

More importantly, the average Niger Deltan saw next to nothing of the largesse bestowed on crooks in the past few years. I should hope that even if True Federalism is achieved, there will be somewhat equal distribution of resources and not a few strongmen commandeering all the money. But we digress. As we speak today, true federalism does not exist in Nigeria, and the Nigerian state is faced with a band of criminals and saboteurs who are making life worse for everyone - Including millions of Niger deltans. You really think we can continue crude and gas production amidst a war in same location?
Was force responsible for the increase in generated MW few years ago?
Now remind me what you said common sense was again? I again enjoin you to employ common sense. We had 'peace' some years ago because of the policy of bribing criminals and their leaders with tens of billions of naira. I say 'criminals' because most of them retained their arms even after coming forward for 'amnesty' We've spent probably half a trillion Naira so far on 'Amnesty' since 2009, and see how hollow it was! We cannot keep paying people money for 'peace'. Sorry, but that is unsustainable, and eminently unfair to the majority of Niger deltans who don't engage in criminal acts that have nothing to do with emancipation and everything to do with stuffing their bellies. Force is not the answer to Niger Deltans. Niger Deltans need reassurance that the Government has plans to fix their environment, provide employment etc. Force is the answer to the criminals that are blowing up pipelines. #CommonSense |

Sometimes I have to reluctantly agree with Senator Ben Murray-Bruce. A lack of common sense is at the root of many of Nigeria's problems. When you know that a massive portion of Nigeria's power generation comes from gas powered plants, and when you know that militants and vandals are sabotaging gas pipelines, starving our plants of fuel gas and hence plunging your entire nation in darkness...why will you be foolish enough to wail when the FG takes steps to fight pipeline vandals? To be frank, the speeds I've been seeing people post since yesterday are pretty mediocre.
Ntel promised 230mbps LTE Advanced. Getting 12mbps or so is nothing to beat their chest over, and is not even as fast, on average, as the speeds the likes of Swift LTE launched with until greed and network congestion crippled them.
From all the hype and lofty promises, anything less than 40mbps is pretty underwhelming. |

TheDevilIsALai: The motor bikes and trucks utilised by Boko Haram run on PMS.
If they had diesel trucks I may believe this but converting vegetable oil to fuel to power petrol engines is near impossible.
This is a fat lie from the lying bastards
The spark plugs in petrol engines can not ignite the vegetable fuel. Only diesel engines are adapted to utilising less inflamable and high viscous solvents by compressing and igniting the fuel under high air pressures
Again the Nigerian Army shows how daft they are at making a simple lie. You make good points, but i think you're conflating separate issues here. There's no direct quote from the army source that the fuel being produced was used to power motor vehicles. It could have been used to power diesel generators for power, for example. And that would not invalidate the woman's testimony. Either way, the point is clear. The army blockade and bombardment hs cut fuel (diesel or petrol) supplies to the forest, and as such, the terrorists are being forced to improvise. |
