Be careful of the kind of characters you meet on Nairaland. How can someone have all those games, there has to be a catch. If you need games, i will advise you check out Fisolucci on http://fisolucci.com/ps3unlocking He upgraded my hardrive to 750gig, jailbroke my PS3 and hooked me up wiv games. His prices are extremely reasonable. He even put me on his mail list and gives me weekly updates of games. I even got the latest Mortal Kombat and MotorStorm Apocalypse from him yesterday so I am set for the long weekend. All i am saying is be careful o, dont say because of game you go and enter wahala.
This guy charges 3k for a single game. That's crazy.

Texazzpete, i dont think this site will be of much help to people if everyone goes this harsh for questions asked (no matter how low they sound). You need to chill a bit. If you think you can help blacklion go ahead and answer his questions. If you know of a site where his questions are better answered just go ahead and offer. Dont come hard on questions you deem silly. Their answers may be of help to a lot more than just the person asking. I am meeting up with someone on this thread to help fix is sgs that almost got bricked. I didnt know jack initially, but with people attending to my enquiries on several blogs/sites i am pretty good with handling androids and winmos today. I have learned one or two things on nairalad and i am sure you too. Allow others.
My initial response wasn't really harsh. All i did was wonder aloud why you'd throw such a question in the Nairaland whitespace when you'd get a more definitive answer from reading detailed reviews. Your situation is completely different.
He DID call me a troll, you know.

Bruv, you have to remember that sometimes, due to freedom of press we give, journalists can hide behind a [fictitious] unnamed "source" which suing will not change.

Also a lot of things about reporting can be based on personal interpretations that one can not sue for. Watch an Al-Jazeera report an watch a Fox report on the same news.

And the news reports you can sue for does not mean your compensation will be significant or even worth your legal fees.

So there is nothing wrong with banning.

Even Alex Ferguson has banned BBC speaking to him for years now.

The only thing wrong here is the audacity to say a journalist is banned from anywhere the Governor is present.
SAF has refused to give interviews to the BBC. he cannot ban the BBC from speaking to him or writing stories about him. Get your words right.

I totally agree - there is a reason why countries like China operates strict censorship of its internet and tv programming -because it doesnt want its people to imbibe western values which ultimately undermine and destroy the indigenous chinese culture and values.
No. it's to keep their citizenry repressed and thoroughly under the thumb of the Chinese Communist party.
It also helps to cheat foreign companies of their hard earned revenue at the expense of unscrupulous chinese businesses. They'll happily block facebook so that picture perfect clones can flourish in China. Facebook, twitter, Myspace all cloned to the letter in China while the Government happily looks the other way.

cap28:
The nigerian govt on the other hand does the exact opposite - it grants access to all these imported foreign programmes whilst neglecting the development of its own programmes, its the duty of a govt to invest money in good programming aimed at promoting the cultural values of its own people not allow foreigners to come in and hijack your tv programmes and brainwash future generations with american children's programmes.

People may look at this as just a harmless children's tv programme but these programmes instill western cultural values and perceptions which shape the mindset of young children, ultimately leading to the abandonment of nigerian cultural values no wonder the average nigerian worships anything to do with america - why wouldnt they when from a young age they have been condjitioned to admire and idolise american values.
I often wondered why many nigerians suffer from inferiority complex now i know where it stems from - years and years of social conditioning and brainwashing from a very early age watching these type of programmes.
'Western values'?
I can leave my Child to watch Sesame Street completely unsupervised. Watch Nollywood movies for 2 days and any young, impressionable mind is filled with tales of Witchcraft, juju, ritual murder and other fetish related issues. We also see lots of treasured 'values' like slavery (in the name of housegirls and houseboys) even from the 'good guys'.

Keep your paranoia to yourself. Many of my friends who are rabidly anti-west grew up on the same fare and still remember the days of Sesame Street, Voltron et al with nostalgia.

Wow. So much to reply to. It looks like we as animators need to step up our game. No problem. It will happen.

@OKX you are correct I did originally aim the post at the graphics section to ask what we could do to make ourselves heard and to put ourselves in a position to get the NTA to take our sector seriously. But it's fine to broaden the debate.I hear you on the professional angle. But you see Sesame Street or Disney etc didn't start out as professional as they are now. I don't feel you have to wait until you are perfect before you call yourself or your company professional. You just have to strive to be the best and to keep learning. It's a tough call and it's all relative. I guess. Also I'm not going to claim that my studio is the most professional etc.

@Texazzpete You raised some fiar points which I will try to answer. I've actually tried but Nairaland keeps thinking my posts are spam.So it's difficult to reply. If this goes through then I'll send my reply to you.
I know, I've read your reply in your profile's 'recent posts' section.

The thing is, your show and Sesame street can co-exist. As consumers, Sesame street does a brilliant job of giving our kids some good educational material. I'd much rather they watched Sesame Street than teletubbies for example. And this deal will enable even poor kids to tune in.
As for the content, your blog makes it sound like some Western indoctrination of some sort. It isn't. It shouldn't be. There are Nigerian experts attached to the projects that should serve to ensure our cultural values are still projected in the show. Until Nigerian animations are ready for prime time, Sesame Street is a great stop gap measure.

Keep up the good work, though. History always shows that when Nigerian content is ready for primetime, nothing can stop it. Nollywood is booming in Nigeria, for example. Night clubs can go for weeks without playing any non-Nigerian song. Who ever thought we'd see this INSANE boom in the Nigerian music scene?
I watch the news every day and each day there's a new complaint about the state of certain things in the country. After each round of the complaints, the complainer usually makes recommendations. And the recommendations usually start along these lines;

"Government  should, "
"Government has to, "
"Government must, "

My question is, why must government do everything? Why must government be the total solution to all the problems we have in this country? Aren't there solutions we can plan and execute on our own, for our own good? So many of us have accepted that Nigeria's successive governments are largely inept and that waiting for government to do certain things is like waiting for saturn to come to earth, i.e not happening. Why then do we keep including government to every solution we have to problems we face in this country. Surely there are solutions that don't involve government, or at least not too much?
Before you start braying, it's only fair that you tell us what the people were complaining about. If it concerns Power, roads and healthcare, it's only natural that 99% of the blame must lie on the Government.

Both foreign and local shows can co-exist without any bad blood, The important thing is the education it delivers to our kids. Why should airing Sesame Street send me into a hissy fit when I know just how good the show is for kids based on my experience growing up?

I cannot honestly say I'm sympathetic with your points when your very own animation has been released for sale solely in climes outside Africa and certainly outside Nigeria.

So yes, I'd say to a large extent that it IS your fault as an industry. People are able to air crappy, godawful home videos in Silverbird Cinemas (even to the extent of premiering such crapware). What are they doing that you aren't doing?

It depends on the ladder of authority. The emir is not employed by the VP and not answerable to the VP either.
This.

The Emir is the traditional head of a group of people, it is not a transient post like the Vice Presidency.

The Emir is a revered figure in Kano. Nobody in Nigeria would have any reverence for the VP.

Finally, it isn't about authority. It is about respect for people and even the President himself is bound to respect the citizenry. keeping an elderly man waiting for over 3 hours is rude to the extreme. Ony sycophants and butt kissers will not see this as such.

Christiandom today is a very large and big 'organisation' with everybody doing his own thing.some 'so called' pentecostal pastors might be involved in some terrible things, its only normal, there would always be wolfs, the bible prophecied it.but the upright ones would still stand forth proclaiming Gods standard, and i humbly say ayo is amogst the upright ones
As Pukkah said, this issue attracted widespread publicity. There are at least two documentaries on this issue that were aired in the UK. Card carrying Pentecostal pastors like Helen Ukpabio were in the forefront of the witch naming and 'exorcism' ceremonies. Helen Ukpabio in particular has published several books and directed many movies that depicts children as being the witches responsible for their parents misfortune. Yet the leadership of the PFN did nothing to protect these innocents. Hundreds had been killed and maimed by their own loved ones based on the exhortations of these Pastors.

And through all these, your beloved Pastor did - and said - NOTHING.

So let him not tell us tales of love and justice. And don't come babbling about 'bravery'. What bravery? Physically he is safe and unassailable. Does it cost him anything to join the bandwagon now?

I say again, I will only consider a Pastor to be brave when he can confront the looters and deny them succour in his Church!

has keeping mum and behaving cowardly stopped the killing and burning of churches,i think we need someone who would look them eyeball to eyeball and tell em this carnage got to stop.
Yet this same man kept mute while Pentecostal pastors were leading the orgy of torture and maiming of children all in the name of witchcraft in Akwa Ibom.

I will count a Pentecostal pastor as being brave when he constantly harangues his congregation on the evil of stealing, looting and embezzling public funds. A brave pastor is one who would emulate Christ and turn down all tithes and offerings from dubious sources! When you collect such monies you legitimize them and fail to discourage the looters from looting with impunity.

So I ask you again, what bravery?!

Kid, at your age (23) I had started work and banked several million in my account. All legit. But I digress.

I do not believe in sitting idly by if wronged, especially when your actions can serve as a deterrent for other monsters out there. There are numerous lawyers who will take this case for free, if only to make a statement. What the driver did is nothing short of 'attempted murder'.  Letting him go scot-free is a travesty.

Hence my advice to the Corps members to head to the courts and join the policemen in the suit.

Anyone reading this should see this as murder of alleged armed robbery SUSPECTS by a mob. Killing people via mob justice is MURDER. Only the courts have the authority to execute.

The bottom line is that those 4 people were killed for being suspected robbers. Let's assume that only 2 of them were really the Armed robbers and the two others were unfortunate visitors, do you think the mob would wait to confirm if they all were robbers?

In Lagos in 2005, Channels TV showed as an 11 year old boy was set ablaze by a mob of nearly 50 adults. Here's the Nairaland discussion link
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-2382.96.html

I remember this discussion. This happened in Lagos! To an 11 year old! Adults mocked and laughed while an 11 year old died in agony. Still think only the Northerners are monsters?
