naijaking1: I hope you'll stop flashing this dubious ABU degree, because everybody in Nigeria knows how politicians, highly placed people, and yes popular princes earn their grades from compulsory classes. Sanusi couldn't even prove himself. If he wanted to, he could have tried a semester in Harvard, Oxford, or even here at Yale. What other country could have made such a character the head of their central bank? Sanusi is fake, a fake, and a pretender to banking expertise. No amount of politics can change that. With a basic knowledge of psychology, anybody would have spotted his inefficiency a mile away like I did 9 months ago. Good thing Sanusi wasn't a politician when he earned his Msc, eh? I fail to understand how someone who has held lofty positions of great responsibility in the banking industry for many years can be labelled as a 'pretender' and a 'fake'. naijaking1: With a basic knowledge of psychology, anybody would have spotted his inefficiency a mile away like I did 9 months ago. Yes, it's a tablet. And by definition, a tablet is not tied to a particular OS. The iPad provides a means for consuming media, it functions well as a web browser, media player, photo viewer and ebook reader, not to mention the huge volume of game available for the device.
This is targeted at people who don't actually need a full blown computer with them all the time. In your everyday life away from your base, how many times do you whip out your laptop? and for how long?
The iPad has its own serious drawbacks, but it also does certain things very well. And with the Appstore, there's always an app for every need.
A windows tablet will not get anywhere close to the iPad's battery life, best bet will be a linux distro that can run on low powered ARM processors or perhaps Google's Chrome OS. X86 CPUs like the Atom chew through battery life. |

Fela and I also think Abiola would have been a terrible president. Seems she is against him just because he stopped her father from being president. IBB did Nigeria worse than that IMO. I really does not matter how good or bad a President Abiola would have made. The key message is millions of Nigerians lined up to elect him as their president. Do you even know what the word 'Democracy' means? it's the peoples' choice! People chose who they wanted to rule them and this miscreant anulled the election for no good reason, plunging this nation into chaos and the hell of millitary dictatorship. She has provided a clear and apt example of a grave betrayal of trust by this monster. it matters not that her father was Abiola, it does not make her point any less valid. Instead of making snarky remarks - and if you feel you have better examples to share - why not write to punch newspapers just like she did? We face a common enemy in IBB. don't break the ranks now. |

RoadStar: Okereke-Onyiuke faults CBN's policy on margin loan By Moses Ebosele
THE Director-General of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Prof. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, yesterday, blamed recent Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) policy on margin loan for the dwindling state of banks' shares in the last one week.
The CBN had recently barred money deposit banks from accepting banks' shares as security for credits granted for trading in stocks in the Nigerian capital market.
Okereke-Onyiuke explained yesterday that immediately the policy was made public, the NSE came under series of verbal attack from investors, adding that the policy has really caused untold hardship for the market.
Addressing stockbrokers on the floor of NSE, Okereke-Onyiuke said angry investors are alleging that they have been short-changed by CBN.
Speaking further, the NSE boss said the policy has resulted in the dumping of bank shares, thereby forcing down the prices of stocks in the last one week.
According to her, the development recently led to a meeting between the council of the Exchange, CBN and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
At the end of the meeting, Okereke-Onyiuke said it was discovered that the policy is intended for stockbroking firms and banks.
Explaining further, Okereke-Onyiuke said individual investors both local and foreign, are eligible to use their stock holdings to borrow from the banks.
According to her, only brokerage firms are barred from using their share holdings to get facilities from the banks.
She explained that the CBN would in the next couple of days, organise a workshop, where the policy will be explained to operators in the market.
Meanwhile, Okereke-Onyiuke said the 24 per cent holdings of the Federal Government in Transcorp Hilton Hotel, would in the next two weeks be sold on the floor of the Lagos and Abuja Stock Exchange.
The Federal Government had about 45 per cent in the total shareholding structure of the Hotel situated in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

The question is why is Sanusi so out of line with all the top finance and economic figures in Nigeria ? Personally, I admire his energy and his insistence on priciples and ethics. But it is not as easy as that else we wont need renowned economists as CBN goverors. Although I think he means well ,his inexperience an inexposure together with his not very substantial educational backgroud has continued to let him down. After that 'Obama' stunt she pulled, i struggle to see how anyone will take this corpulent woman seriously. |

One 1: Point Blank, U r a fool if u actually believe that video is real. even the captions of the "militants" in the video looked like a straight fraude, the caption of abdulmutallab looking into the camera for the biggest hollywood stunt ever lol . By the way why would the camera guy zoom right in on him huh ? im thinking at that time being he had the same status as the other "militants" so why the extra special caption? lol.
Oh yeah, and u better believe that this guy is not a real terrorist. he is made up by the US and UK, open your eyes. If the dude wanted to blow up the plane he would have peacefully. he wouldnt have gotten "caught", a real terrorist would have just gone in the bathroom and blew himself up. and yep everybody would pretty much be dead. Look closely and the video is fake. The boy is no mentallity or the statue of a trained militant smh, oh and wow, the West was real clever in putting in the whole "kill Jews and Christians" thing to make it more believable, Bravo!!!!
Its funny how theyre training in the desert of Yemen when yemen mujahideen militants and saudia arabian army have been fight in that same desert for years and they still are, youtube it lol, even just type in yemen and it'll just pop up. and on top of that both the yemen mujahideen militants and saudia arabian soldiers are all muslim so abdulmutallab couldnt have been over there in the field talking about "kill Jew and Christian"
My Africans and Nigerians dont be fooled all of this that is happening is just the seed for the future excuse of "why we invaded nigeria and brought Africaom", the US has already made nigeria submit to them by forcing them to allow them put air marshalls on their flights! Its all the beginning,

The whole point of a tablet is its portability. If i don't need portability, i'd rather bring along my netbook. I'm beginning to think Apple may have had the right idea after all. if they fix the multitasking bit, the iPad will be killer. |

Cohomology: Ol boy,
It is a fact that the Nigerian government, at every level - local, state and federal, is pathetically inept. Okay, that's settled and let's leave that for a moment.
My gripe is with the gang of ingrates who instead of thanking Dr. Kanu for having such a good initiative, are attempting to belittle his efforts.
These folks can't get their empty heads to accept the fact that a doctor from Abia State is the one showing some initiative to help some poor Edo State people, while soulless criminals like Tony Anenih (and the rest of the useless elements representing Edo State at the federal level) are working very hard to further impoverish the people of Edo State.
My message to those ingrates: Thank the doctor or show some appreciation or just shut the f-ck up! So when i was showing appreciation for the good doctor's action, your brain was switched off, abi? people like you and kev-d are the reason why Nigeria will struggle to improve. If you cannot get off the childish mentality of placing ALL the blame at the feet of the federal government, how will you move forward? It is not the responsibility of the Government to provide FREE healthcare to everyone. Even in the United states, does the Government do that for free? So why then attack the government in the same breath that you laud this doctor? The role of the Government in healthcare should be to focus on easily spread epidemics and diseases capable of causing great harm to people. Which is why you find the Government providing free Vitamin A and Polio vaccines to children. As a Corper, i myself went out on one of such medical missions. The federal government has also been providing free treatment for Tuberculosis. I've heard the jingles on the radio. Worm infestation does not fall into this category, and i rather think it is a duty of any parent to deworm their child as at when due. nearly all the parents in Nigeria know about worms - they have to take that step to get their child dewormed, not the Government. Worm medicine is relatively cheap afterall. The only thing the government can do in this situation is to increase awareness on the need to deworm children once in a while to kill worms that can slow child development. PS: As people have said before, you cannot 'eradicate' worms that way. You need to deworm again in a while, as those kids will pick up more worms with time. Hopefully the doctor would have educated them on lifestyle habits to avoid to remain worm free. |

Eziachi: The reaction of many Nigerians irked by the greatest service a foreign media has done them by highlighting a sort of Nigeria many like myself never knew existed, reminds me something that happened during my secondary school days before the civil war broke out. I was a student then of the famous Bishop Shanahan College in the then old Orlu divisional province in the Eastern region. We were told by our then principal (A white Priest) that the deputy premier of the region (Dr Ibiam) and other government officials will be visiting our school and few day to the visit, the Orlu provincial council chairman then breezed into our school asking that so many things be changed for the visit. Asking that unpaved tracks within the school should be covered and all sorts of cosmetic changes should be affected to impress out august visitor (Dr Ibiam). But our white Priest Principal was furious and told him to go to hell. He said that it will be silly to make the school cosmetically look good beyond what it will normally look. That it will serve us better for the politician and his entourage to witness how we will look normally, so that he can address our needs instead of pretending to be alright or showing off a false image that doesn’t match with reality of our school everyday life. And that is what we did, even though we cleaned up the school but we made no attempt to hide our short comings and you know what, when Dr Ibiam left, few months later, he commissioned that we get a brand new laboratory, a new dining hall, three new sets of football jerseys because he was shown our old ragged one and then demanded that all road leading into the school and all the dusty road inside the school to be tarred with immediate effect and within eight months after his visit we got all that. Unfortunately the whole thing was bombed down by the Nigerian air force during the war. So in a country that means business and values progress, BBC should have been congratulated for showing the real Nigerians that live a life without the oil wealth. Those in government should have admitted that many years of neglect created these slums but they are doing something now about them gradually, probably ask the BBC to come back in a couple of years time to see the difference in the area or the individual characters featured on the programme. Instead you have the half baked morons of citizens and their corrupt elite rulers and good for nothing diplomats complaining on why the wrong people were shown instead the normal faces on the NTA networks. This programme has shown the world that an average Nigerian is peaceful, hardworking and not everybody does 419 and it’s not poverty per-say that drove the people into 419 but greed. But our useless Nigerians will not see the positive from the programme because they are not use to the truth. They preferred to be lied to instead. Now you can see why every nation had the kind of leaders they got. The reason being the governed. Eziachi With your permission, i'd like to reproduce this your excellent post and send it to all the short-sighted people i know. Excellent! |
