zenithprof: Lokoyen:I'm sorry, this can't help you unlock your phone. |
@stormm But that's the point! Without a broad reader base, it is not attractive to advertisers. Also their style of reporting the unbiased news has led to many of their prospective clients abandoning the paper. In Nigeria, it is not in the best interests of the elite for the truth to be reported. How do you explain the fact that advertisers are not flocking to their website, even when it's now the most popular Nigerian news website? I don't think they have the manpower to get as much news as their rivals so they rely on a few expose like stories to captivate readers. The danger is, many Nigerians now know that if they visit the NEXT website, they can pretty much get all the scoops without paying a dime. You can see how 234Next has resorted to truncating their lead stories up until 12 noon in a desperate bid to boost sales. But i agree with some of what yourself and funkybaby have stated; there are a couple of things they could have done better. Their website is now the most popular Nigerian news website, yet it is almost bereft of ads. There are many more things they could have done to hook the few regular readers they had, and get new ones in the process. Perhaps a better effort could have been made to secure foreign readers. What i'd like to point out to you is that the Guardian et al that you mentioned had very wealthy sponsors/patrons behind them. 234Next has an idealistic fellow operating on a loan. funkybaby:Good one! |
stormm:This is much more than a gestation crisis, this is a full blown fight for survival as my sources tell me. Morale is low, the junior employees are living on borrowed funds and people are polishing their CVs. For some reason they aren't selling well, and the article i linked up there claims it is sabotage. I heard their desire to publish all the truths all the time led to their previous sponsor pulling out. I understand your point, but the initial days of a paper are the make-or-break days. And if they can't sell more papers, they are in trouble. Which would be a shame indeed. |
4llerbuntu, stay out of this! ![]()
@ Ex Inferis This is what happens when half baked ikeja computer village technicians hit the streets. i am not sure which is your problem, your inability to comprehend or your desire to impress. like they say, when the blind leads the blind, both will fall in the ditch. did u read the wiki link u asked me to read? did u see where it referred to the CPU as core unit for multitasking to take place? the OS can only take advantage of what the CPU can offer. implication, if the CPU can't handle multiple processes at one time, an OS will not create in it a miracle, period! since u decided to throw around terminologies without truly understanding what they mean, i will help break it down for u. the backgrounder u so loudly talked about is more or less an emulator and it allows u to run more than one app at a time, the fact they stay at the background and continue from where they stopped simply tells u that process was not killed. a simple test to verify that the iphone's processor multitask without the having the 4.0 or jail brakes, is by opening the app store app and start updates for your apps then open your email account and go through your messages, when u are done, u will find out the apps continued their updates even though it ran at the background, that my friend is running more than one process at the same time, which is multitasking. I just ran the app store app on my 3gs that is not jail broken with iphone OS version 3.1.3 and at the same time checked my email and closed my email and went to my voice mail to listen to my messages and all 13 apps that needed updating got updated. to confirm this, i went to the app store to check for updates and it clearly states "All Apps Are Up to Date". the ability of a processor to run more than one process at the same time is multitasking, repeat it after me. btw, what brought all these, i simply said apple likes to create a hype on their products and for the iphone this is very true, how do i know this, i worked for apple for a while supporting apps developers and some other department b4 moving to my current job so i know; and u will be surprised the amount of employees that have jail broken iphones including most of the supervisors i worked with. when the 3gs came out after they release 3.0, one of the hypes was that the 3gs can record videos, well folks have been recording videos on their 3g even without jail breaking it, just get the right app and u are in business. another hype still date is that, u have to buy the 3g or 3gs to have MMS capability, well folks using a jail broken original iphone with the right app on the T-mobile network already use MMS, once again, just get the right app and u are in business. i am off to bed but when i get back from work tomorrow, i am game if u will be online, just give me the time u wanna be online and i will be here to school u on about emulators, ram, multitasking etc. btw, u think apple computers dont have processes running at the background? wow, shows how dumb u are. apples version of the task manager is called the activity monitor, if u click on spotlight and type in activity monitor u will call it up with all processes running at the moment including the ones generated by user apps. for your info, when ever u "X" out of a program in a mac OS, they are really never closed, if u look at the dock u will see the app having a little blue light under it to indicate it is still running at the back ground, to actually quit the program u have to click on the program name and click quit b4 it really goes away and releases memory, so stop running around NL giving fake info like u know something.
All you're doing is stating the obvious. We all know this. There's no need for insults. There are many people here who genuinely need help. Let your focus be to assist people who humbly ask for help and not to brag about how much you know. And no, i really don't think you can 'school' Ex Inferis (no offense meant). He knows his onions. @Ex Inferis Calm down ![]() @moonraker Your glo ipcc, is it a modification of the old T-mobile tzones hack from the 2.x firmware days? Kindly post it here, i get a lot of requests for that but no incentive ![]() |
otawa:There's a link above what i posted. If you can't be bothered to click on it and read the contents, then i am not obliged to answer your foolish questions. And no, i am not affiliated with 234Next in any way. |
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/phillip-van-niekerk/why-the-developing-world_b_565815.html The upstart newspaper, 234Next is fighting desperately for survival. Staff are being owed salaries, many staff have been let go and resignations are becoming the order of the day. Why? Apparently powerful and corrupt forces are trying to strangle this fledgling paper into oblivion. They've stepped on too many toes - powerful toes like Ibori, Turai etc. These forces have hit the paper at its vulnerable point: adverts and its distribution network. This will be a tragedy for the fight against corruption if this paper goes under - 234Next is the closest thing we have to good reporting in this nation where 'brown envelope' journalism holds sway. |
Photos please. |
wurdz:Yep, you can. 4llerbuntu hasn't made any move yet. |
oyb:dc-unocker software isn't free. You pay for Credits. unclesamtech:1. I made two requests. You answered none. 2. You knew the solution was software only, which meant any fellow out there could do it at his leisure instead of coming, cap in hand, to appeal to you folk. You'd rather people were dependent on you for fish rather than teaching them how to fish. |
There's something really pathetic about this, |
nazzyon:This firmware will lock the phones of anyone in Naija who installs it, is that what you want? |
mekusxxx:Even in the highly unlikely scenario that you actually have that much education under your belt, why do you consistently act and reason like an im'becile? |
Not really the fault of these silly tribalists. Rather blame the moderators who can do something but fail to. At this point i think we should start raising contributions for both kosovo and aisha2 to buy MTN modems so they can get online more. If they can't do the job, then step aside for reasonable people! It's a shameful thing that the most popular discussion forum for youths in Africa is nothing to reckon with politically because of bigoted fools and incompetent moderation. With the numbers we have, nairaland should be the rallying point for a whole generation of progressive people bent on improving our country. Instead clowns are left here to flourish. |
Yet the link you dropped is for v1.1, I ve installed v2.0 and the software works
You're nitpicking. Bottom line is, installing .net solves the problem and enables the software work. I may have pointed you in the direction of an earlier version, but it did point you in the right direction afterall. I can't imagine what point you're so eager to make that you're posting screenshots of the completed installation of .net. Whatever it is, it does not interest me. |
This Babatope guy sounds like a total douchebag. why is he carping on about 'Prominent Nigerians' and reminding us that the Business class section was filled? All lives are equal - in fact we'd much rather be rid of ancient rogues like him and Igbinedion. |
You are better than this texazzpete, Its simply clear you self dont know the problem my net frame is ver 1.1 and I veed version 2 and above to run the application its that simple.
Did you read my post a few steps up where i recommended you install .NET framework? I'd say i understood your problem well enough and provided a decent answer. 'Better than this' is an implied compliment, so i'll take it ![]() |
oyb:nah, perfectly understandable. N95's screenshot shows he's using a relatively new install of win XP. You can deduce that from the minimal number of 3rd party programs he has installed Not surprised 4llerbuntu has a windows machine, it's usually practical for many of these linux fiends to keep a Windows install handy. i'm only surprised he's running Win XP on his instead of Win 7. Besides, we both know i'm nowhere on your level, Oil & Gas has removed me far from the IT world, now i'm no longer a creator, i'm a consumer (albeit a very well informed one ) |
@4llerbuntu Mail me your number at priyeandroid@gmail.com. We'll talk! It's a throwaway account i use in the public domain so all you crazies out there shouldn't get any ideas on signing me up for gay pr0n. ![]() |
Please someone educate me, Is this not the same 100 MW gas turbine built by Odili? Hasn't this been inaugurated by Obasanjo already? |
its like u did not get me, I dont ve issues downloading it. I ve downloaded it but when I run it I get an error message in thr snap shot on my post above, what is causing the error is what I askes or can you upload a working one again?
4llerbuntu:The application requires .NET framework, it's already pre-installed in Vista and Windows 7 so on those OS versions you should have no issues. Even on XP, i'm surprised you don't have it installed, i thought a fairly recent version comes by default with XP SP3, You can either download and install the .net framework from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=17153 or use Vista or Win 7. |
Thanks for the Mirror, DC! |

funkybaby:I'm using my iPhone with Zain, works without any stress, except that Zain inherently has a crappy network, no 3G in Port Harcourt. Lazy b@#$. But i digress ![]() No option for IP in the iPhone Cellular Network settings, and Glo's 3G uses a Static IP as far as i know, so Glo doesn't work. There was a workaround i used in the 2.x firmware days, but i'm not sure it works in 3.0, or i haven't tried. So go ahead and use Zain in the iPhone. It works, just input the APN and the username and password values. |
I love this topic, especially for the fact that we're all getting along well ![]() I grew up in Benin, lived there up until i was 21 and i'm still so sad at how this state has been left to decay by successive leaders. The worst one is Lucky Igbinedion (Curses Be Upon Him!) who looted the state silly, without the slightest effort to improve anything. I'm glad the youths rose up to resoundingly vote out PDP in the last elections (despite the best efforts of the PDP's rigging machine). I saw the way the youths vigorously protested the election outcome when Oshiomhole supposedly lost. lets hope Oshiomhole actually makes a difference. The state needs it. |
Ogaga4Luv:DMC4 has been out since 2008. Have you been living under a rock? |
It doesn't matter if you think Abiola was a crook, thief, kleptomaniac etc. What matters is that in a free and fair setting, Nigerians made their choice. they braved the elements to come out and vote massively for a candidate they chose. Annulling that election was a huge slap in the face of the Nigerians of that day, and it remains an insult that that scoundrel IBB can come up and attempt to run for President. Stop being so bloody short-sighted and focus on the real issues. Abiola won an election and he was cheated out of victory. nigerians voted for him and they were cheated out of their vote. Stopping the scoundrel who did this dastardly deeds should be all that matters right now. |
Off Topic, but the same Soyinka did not complain when his article titled 'London is a cesspit' was published by several UK papers and news websites. Wole Soyinka has rightfully attained hero status in Nigeria, but we must never presume that he is perfect in all things. Now he has spoken his piece, i expect him to now dwell on how he can contribute to the debate on how to improve the lot of the Nigerians depicted in the videos. |
usdane:And an attribute of one as wise as yourself is to brutally butcher the English language. You betray your almajiri roots. usdane:It would help if your muslim leaders could start unconditionally criticizing and condemning the actions of these terrorists. When we know that DVDs of Osama Bin laden are sold by the dozen to hordes of eager youths outside mosques, why do you express surprise at our distrust? When last did any ranking cleric in Saudi Arabia, in Qatar and in Jordan come out to condemn these terrorist acts? usdane:EXACTLY!! If you do not want Christians to exist, pray to your God, beseech him with prayers to convert us all to Islam. Don't use your bombs, cutlasses or guns to attack us, use your prayers! How can you believe in an all-powerful God, yet act as if you cannot trust him to do anything? |
