Emperoh:People have lost money and you're telling others not to follow up on any investigation? When last did you vist that thread anyway? Your post is laughably selfish - all you're concerned about is the possibility of any fallout on your own cash cow. Stop being short sighted. If scams here are not nipped in the bud at this infancy stage, there'll come a time when the taint of suspicion and distrust will stain everyone of you salesmen here. I know many people can easily vouch for most of you salesmen. Hell, i can vouch for several here, and i'm pretty sure you're one of the good guys. But you really don't want a cloud of suspicion to hang over nairaland's auto section. |
blacksta:This is voluntary MANSLAUGHTER, not murder. A logical case of provocation can easily be made by his defense lawyer. No DA or public prosecutor will even try and bring a first degree murder charge in this case. You really should do a lot more reading to broaden yourself. |
Devonian:You mean like how Bode George got only 2 years despite stealing 100 billion Naira? Or how Nigerian drug couriers are routinely given the option of paying a small (usually 100K fine) despite their heinous crimes? You mean like how 90% of arrested Nigerian scammers in Nigeria buy their way to freedom? I wish you racists would at least take the time to check your facts before spewing your gospel of hatred here. |
PapaBrowne:I don't know where you got it into your skull that there must be a linear correlation between the percentage price increase and the percentage decline in new car buyers. And FYI, much more than a 10% increase in vehicle prices came into play. Provide the figures for Q2 2009 to back up your assertion that this decline came after Sanusi's intervention. we all have real world examples of people who refrained from buying new cars here in Nigeria due to the price increase. My colleague had been ready to purchase a 2008 Sonata for 2.8 million until they jacked the price up to 3.6 million Naira. please note that 2.8 million to 3.6 million increase is a lot more than 10% He ended up buying a used Pathfinder jeep (mileage 20000) for 3.5 million. And i can bet many more Nigerians couldn't justify buying a Sonata for 3.6M. I also remember seeing the Honda place advert where they jacked up the prices for their new vehicles significantly. Now, i'm no economist but i know common sense. And i know something about consumer awareness. There's a tipping point, a threshold beyond which many people will not be able to justify making a purchase decision, when the opportunity cost is just too high. Even a 5% increase in price can do that, easy. A 16% price drop of Sony's PS3 in early 2007 from $599 to $499 saw PS3 sales surge up to a 2800% increase on Amazon in one day. See what i mean about buyers threshold? Either way, you knew that every single Automobile outlet in Nigeria jacked up their prices by at least 15 - 25%. You chose not to mention this important piece of information in favour of lampooning Sanusi. That's either shoddy economics, mischief , dishonesty or a combination of any of these factors. |
You people are being pathetic. People have provided Solid Info for you to work with. You have his real name, his photos and an approximate idea of where he resides and yet you do nothing but bicker?! Go after this fellow, smoke him out and destroy him. Report this to the police/EFCC. Grease a few palms and then apply the coup de grace: pay for advert space and have his face placed as a Wanted man in at least two high profile newspapers. Use the clearest, best photo you can find. State his real name and his approximate location. You don't hunt a jackal with popcorn, stop thinking about finding him and start thinking about how you'll grind this thief into the dirt. |
The people accusing this fellow of being a scammer are mo'rons. I mean, how hard is it to click to his profile and read his posting history? His story has been extremely consistent with his history here on Nairaland since he joined in June 2009. It's much easier to check this out first before making snarky comments |
Guys, there's a download link on the front page. It runs on WINDOWS! Not BeOS! Not OSX! Everyone has a Windows PC! I mean, there are people who'll help you, but where's the fun in that when you can do it yourselves? It's a really small download, even. I know we like the easy way out, but it won't hurt to make an effort to do it yourselves if you can, |
@tkb417 You're wasting your time. As long as funkybaby et al know someone who lost their job under Sanusi's tenure, their position is always going to be 99% personal/emotional and 1% logical. As Nigerians, we're used to finding someone to blame. A convenient scapegoat is needed. No matter how many times Sanusi outlines his objectives, we'll always have hecklers out there insisting he has none. |
PapaBrowne:Of course people are reluctant to buy new cars. All the Nigerian Automobile sellers jacked up the prices of their cars astronomically, blaming it all on the new exchange rate. Instead of doing a pre- and post- Sanusi piece, why not find out how much the price of a new Honda City has moved before and after the Naira fell from 115 to 155 to a dollar (which happened under Soludo's watch). At least i know at one point the Hyundai Sonata jumped in price by nearly 400k. It's more costly to buy a new car now, so fewer people are buying. I have no sympathy for these car salesmen. When car manufacturers were slashing prices to sell more during the recession, they didn't pass on the savings to us. Now they are blaming Sanusi when many of their usual clients can't afford their exorbitant rates. |
Don't you just LOVE how Sanusi haters like speaking in absolutes? i.e Under Sanusi a lot of bankers lost their jobs, therefore he is the devil and he must be blamed. By that same token, we should crucify Soludo - under his tenure the Naira went from N115 to a dollar to N155. Funny how they insist that the banks were very sound, meanwhile the banks are busy declaring astronomic losses for the first time in years. No matter how flawed the CBN debtors' list was, it enabled the banks recover tens - if not hundreds - of billions of Naira owed to them by heartless debtors. |
Shaunscot:We speak English here in Nigeria. |
Last year, maybe, but with the Nokia N-8 around the corner, why would you buy this? |
squad1: squad1:And this text speak is the reason why so many young people fail English these days ![]() |
ziga:Excellent post. What use is our education if we give in to knee-jerk reactions all the time? |
The N900 is used, a new one is around 80k. You'll never see a buyer for that at 100k. |
Kosovo Can you give me ONE reason why you think it's normal to post: 'Who said XYZ game sold X million copies? lol' You're being a troll, as usual. Choose the console you like and stick with it. |
ajadudu: ajadudu:Your link clearly stated that that trim was NOT manufactured by VW, but was slapped on by a modder in a similar vein of creativity like this naija fellow. How the heck could you fail to see that? Even in the photos, you can clearly see that both models are different! If basic comprehension skills elude you, please inform us so we can put together the monies for your Night classes (considering your age) |
Hi Anyone with an iPad for sale at a reasonable price? i'm looking to pick one up ASAP. Reply here |
@Poster Sent you an email since morning, no reply. I suggest you find a more efficient way for your potential customers to reach you - your email method is not good enough. |
Man, that Gears of War Mad World trailer was something else. That trailer alone got them a million customers, i'm sure! Also love the Deus Ex trailer ![]() |
v3:so now she's got your name and your photos, not a smart move, bro! |
2kurupt:It started out as a student networking site, but has long since morphed into a global social networking site. What's silly is uninformed people like you talking confidently about things they clearly don't understand. |
Sent you an email from my gmail. Call or SMS me with the number i provided. |
EzeUche:I expect this from mekusxxx, didn't know you had joined the ranks of the terminally brainless bigots. |
Pretty mischievous of these guys to 1. Place all the blame for poverty on the IOCs like Shell. Last i checked, the Federal Government is largely responsible for the development of it's citizens. 2. Neglect the fact that most of the oil spillage these days are caused by Niger Delta indigenes on sabotage, vandalism or stealing missions. I guess when you're stealing a 100 m length of flowline you don't care about the barrels of oil pouring into the creeks. |
Horayce:1. I've long since sold it 2. It's still $430 (at least). Please re-check Amazon. |
@Poster Jeez, man! That girl is fricking fugly. |
Interesting. There was a guy called ittechvents that scammed a whole lot of people in the Gaming and Technology Market sections out of money for game consoles. At least 3 people were scammed. Ptconsult went around ALL ittechvent's posts claiming that ittechvent was reliable and trustworthy and had delivered two phones and a laptop to him over the last 6 months. It was this glowing recommendation that made those gullible people to place trust in ittechvent, who took their dough and vanished See an example of one glowing referral for the crook ittechvent https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=387226.msg5381953#msg5381953 Another fellow who conveniently happened to provide a glowing recommendation for ittechvent was none other than one etinvest who dropped off the air as soon as the ittechvent scammer absconded. Etinvest and ptconsult provided positive referrals for ittechvent two minutes apart on January 25th. Etinvest vanished as soon as i confronted him with being one and the same person as ittechvent. Etinvest and ptconsult share similar interests. IMHO, Ptconsult is one to be avoided! I have long suspected that ptconsult and ittechvent are either the same odious fellow, or are in cahoots! |
A universal power supply will work wonders. I had an NTSC 360 with a 110V power supply. Once i swapped that with a 240V power supply from a PAL system, i never needed to use a step down transformer again! |

On a non-jailbroken phone running firmware 3.x and below, can you run stream internet audio from pandora and check your email at the same time? No. |
