Gaming › Re: Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii Or Xbox 360? by texazzpete(m): 12:22am On Aug 08, 2006
WTF?!
You ees loco senhor. maybe eet is the sun, no?

anyways i plan on getting a PS3 at launch. It's been a personal fantsay of mine to grab one just when it comes out, and ive been planning it for years. Of course, didnt know it was gonna be so damn costly at $600,
I'm a nintendo fanboy, thru and thru. Doesn't mean i ain't a realist sha. I'd neva pick a DS over a psp and i'm as much a graphics LovePeddler as the next guy. That said, i wouldn't mind getting a Wii. Only reason i can't do that is because there prolly won't be Winning eleven on it. that, i think, will be the primary consideration for most naijan gamers.
Will be funny to see what happens when ps3 hits naija. ps2 came out at $230 and was sold in alaba for abt 100k then. wonder what price a $600 ps3 will debut at?
I see alaba traders doing brisk business, buying the cheaper version of ps3 and selling at the same price for the costly version.
I've seen comparison shots of the output on normal TVs and HDTVs and im kinda worried. seems u can only fully tap the power of the next-gen consoles by sing an HDTV.

Happily enuff, winning elevn for the x360 comes out january 2007. X360's being sold in alaba for like 35-40k, so naijans can get their next-gen winning elevn fix at an affordable price. That and the new wave in xbox 360 piracy will prolly make the xbox 360 the hotter product for the next couple of years,

whaddaya think? I say piracy and Winning eleven will decide the winner of the next-gen battle in naija

@dakmanzero

u seen the latest trailers for crysis? drool alert!

texazzpete ~ Mr Wikipedia. I am disappointed at you. You base your entire reference on Wikipedia and calling yourself an expert on history? I can go to Wikipedia and glorify Nigeria. Mr Copy and Paste, Nigerians are known for their Intellectual disposition, despite mediocre leadership, but you're an embarrassment. Who are the fools that listen to you?

Where is Pearl Harbor? Hawaii. Where is Hawaii? The 50th state of America. You never knew that? So the declassified memo does not make sense to you? O ma se o.

What Professor Tsuyoshi Hasegawa, a Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara wrote was based on the archives of American, Soviet, and Japanese records of WW2 that led to Japanese Surrender. Read the entire link and see what the other experts like you said. So you don't trust declassified records?

Hitler made the same mistake your Napoleon made in the Invasion of Russia of 1812, which was also a turning point in the Napoleonic wars. The campaign decimated the French and allied invasion forces of around 800,000 men to less than 2%. Do the math. History loves to repeat itself, if one doesn't learn from past mistakes, as attested to the similar destruction of the formidable German Nazi War Machine, the best and greatest of its time, on the same Eastern Front. Remember General Winter.

texazzpete, you met your Waterloo here on this thread.

Who first launched Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, ICBM? Who is the first country in Space? The Soviets launched Sputnik in 1957, the first man made satellite. What of Vostok 1 that launched Gagarin in 1961? Compare that to Freedom 7 that sent Alan Shepard up, afterwards. Have you heard of Konstantin Tsiolkovskiy? Check this link:

I doubt it if you're well versed in Orbit Mechanics.

I think it's a Nigerian thing. look at editorials and Open letters in the Newspapers. It's a common thing for some dude to abuse someone else just because he shares a different view.
Afterall, it's in that same vein that the PDp chairman (Alli) announced that all those against third term were wicked people and that "God will punish them".
But here we're supposed to be men of intellect here. or at least, people smart enough to go online. Do u guys seriously think you'd enjoy life if all the 6 billion people on this planet thought exactly as you do?

Very few people here have actually met others on this forum in the flesh. So when someone calls another an 'idiot' or 'slowpoke' or 'stupid', doesn't it sound strange?

Here's something you should read

While the United Nations has not yet accepted a definition of terrorism [1], the UN's "academic consensus definition," written by terrorism expert A.P. Schmid and widely used by social scientists, runs:
Terrorism is an anxiety-inspiring method of repeated violent action, employed by (semi-) clandestine individual, group or state actors, for idiosyncratic, criminal or political reasons, whereby — in contrast to assassination — the direct targets of violence are not the main targets. The immediate human victims of violence are generally chosen randomly (targets of opportunity) or selectively (representative or symbolic targets) from a target population, and serve as message generators. Threat- and violence-based communication processes between terrorist (organization), (imperilled) victims, and main targets are used to manipulate the main target (audience(s)), turning it into a target of terror, a target of demands, or a target of attention, depending on whether intimidation, coercion, or propaganda is primarily sought," (Schmid, 1988).

In November 2004, a UN panel described terrorism as any act: "intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act."

So in that context, try and analyze the actions of either Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah or America.  Or all of them if you please!

Texazzpete ~ I am disappointed at you. Referencing Wikipedia? Anyone can go to Wikipedia and edit it. I shouldn't be surprised that you're quoting from your history notebook.

Have you ever heard of the Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of Kursk, the turning point of WW2? Those were the battles that destroyed the German Infantry and German tanks. Thus, breaking the back of the much vaunted German Military, the most powerful at the time. The Soviets paid a terrible price for the victory and always call WW2, a Great Patriotic War. America entered the war in 1944 after the decisive battle on the Eastern Front. The battle across the Mediterranean was not comparable to those on the Eastern Front. Italian army was a non-factor, a joke. You're comparing a child to an adult.

You were not aware of the defeat of the vaunted Japanese Kwantung Army at the Battle of Khalkin Gol in Inner Mongolia in 1939? It was a Pre-emptive move by the Soviets to avoid a Pincher. Google it for more info.

Much of the US equipments, as part of the lend-lease agreement, could not function due to the weather. In Winter, Russia is a forsaken place. Have you ever heard of General Winter? How many of the foreign equipments could function at -45oC? The Germans learned in a hard way. And America was paid back, on the said equipments.

Historically, the Russians are revered in Mathematical Physics. Despite the Industrial base being destroyed, much of the brain was still intact. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they were able to build new Industrial cities across the Urals, detonated a nuclear bomb in 1949 and started the Space race with Sputnik in 1957 and Gagarin in 1961. Up till now, they're second to none in Nuclear Physics ~ fission, fussion, laser, quantum, and Exploration ~ Space, Polar, Sea/Ocean.

You never heard of the Korean war of 1950-53? No wonder you were not aware of the wanton destruction of the North. I can't blame you.

What led to the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor? Here is the link for you:

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/McCollum/

And what led to the Japanese surrender? Read along:

http://www.ia.ucsb.edu/pa/display.aspx?pkey=1297

Intellectually, you do not impress me at all. If you don't know about something, just remain passive and peruse the forum.
Correction, Stalingrad and The battle of kursk weren't the turing point of WW2. They were decisive battles on the eastern front.  a small difference, but one you have to learn. Stalingrad didn't break the back of the German army. it was a disastrous campaign for the Germans, leading to the destruction of the German 6th army. in the aftermath the red army mounted several offensives inthe winter, successfully driving the germans back, but the germans were able to recover and recapture msot of the lost ground by successfully counter-attacking. There's a clear difference between the Wehrmacht and the entire german millitary. anyone reading your piece would think that the entire german millitary was chewed up in and around stalingrad.
Kursk now was another matter. if you say the Russians broke the back of the German Millitary, how did it come to be that the greatest tank battle the world has ever known started out as a German offensive, and only turned into a rout when the germans failed to penetrate and were counter attacked. After Kursk,, the german armies in the east were permanently on the retreat.
The Wehrmacht and their much vaunted blitzkrieg was not the entire german millitary. why mislead yourself and others? By your statement anyone would believe even the luftwaffe was smashed in Stalingrad and Kursk.

Decisive battles they both were, but not THE decisive battles. many abound int he anals of the war. Hitler would have defeated the soviets if all his army was brought to bear before the rusians could mobilise, but a HUGE portion of the german army was in france, africa, greece etc fighting off the western allies. if the Germans had beaten the RAF in the Battle of Britain, the invasion of britain could have gone on as planned and if britain had fallemn, the Germans could have turned their full might against the Russians. Don't forget that Operation Sea Lion (the planned german invasion of britain) would have caught a british army ill-prepared and ill-equipped desperately trying to recoup the loss of materiel in France. That, in retrospect also ranks up there with the Greatest battles of WW2.

I've looked at the Memo. While i thank you for bringing this to my knowledge, the memo makes a claim that roosevelt goaded japan into attacking America. Nowhere did it say that it goaded japan into attacking pearl harbour.
Look at this from common sense. before WW2, naval experts agreed that th Battleship was the most formidable naval warship to have in your arsenal. so why would any county set up an attack that destroyed 2 battleships including the USS Arizona (called the pride of the US navy) as well as cripple six others, kill thousands of experience sailors and aviators, destroy valuable fuel supplies and cripple the US navy in the pacific for about a year? If the aim was to provoke japan into attacking america, why then make them attack and destroy your capability to respond? Use your brains, man.
In the aftermath of pearl harbour, the japanese navy were totally unopposed for a while, allowing them easy access for the conquest of the phillipines.

and this
For example, the USSR was highly dependent on trains, yet the desperate need to produce weapons meant that fewer than 20 new locomotives were produced in the USSR during the entire war. In this context, the supply of 1,981 US locomotives can be better understood. Likewise, the Soviet air force was almost completely dependent on US supplies of very high octane aviation fuel. Although most Red Army tank units were equipped with Soviet-built tanks, their logistical support was provided by hundreds of thousands of high-quality US-made trucks. Indeed by 1945 nearly two-thirds of the truck strength of the Red Army was US-built. Trucks such as the Dodge 3/4 ton and Studebaker 2.5 ton, were easily the best trucks available in their class on either side on the Eastern Front. US supplies of waterproof telephone cable, aluminium, and canned rations were also critical

Culled from wikipedia

Then again, i already knew most of this. it suits you, however to believe that the equipment 'just froze' and failed. if you insist continue in your erroneous beliefs. As an ancient proverb goes, 'there is none so blind as they who will not see'

Both Encarta 2006 and Wikipedia are clear on one thing: the Lend-lease suplies were not to be repaid. The Red Army paid nothing for the gifts

Most of russian advances in Nuclear and rocketry was obtained by ruthlessly culling the entire germany of top scientists. Admittedly, the US did the same, but the russians were faster and less scrupulous. despite leading the race in Space science, the americans eventually caught up. Let me task your grey matter a little. Which side built the first ICBM?

An di never denied that the Korean war took place. All i objected to was the term 'totally destroyed'. I said i wsn't aware that the US totally destroyed North Korea, since a large part of the fighting took place in what is now south Korea and the Chinese soon put a top to american presence in the North. Please try not to let belligerence cloud your mind.

Will you use one man's opinions as to what led to the Japanese surrender form your own opinions? I clicked that link in the hope of being educated just like the Mccullem memo did for me, only to see you using a guy's book (one man!!) as a basis for your beliefs. you dissapoint me there.

FYI, the German army took over the defence of Italy from the surrendering italian army. Previously, the US army had conquered Sicily, Defeated the German Afrika Korps and liberated greece, simultaneously carrying out the pacific battles. The relatively fewer number of casualties on the Us side is indicative of the way the USa fought. rather than send raw conscripts to face the Elite German Wehrmacht as stalin did, reasonably well trained and superbly equipped Us troops fought during the war. Additionally, much of the soviet fighting was done on their own soil and henceforth on good, tank-friendly terrain. The Us marines that died in the Jungles of Imphal and Kohima could tell you more about jungle warfare and its relative diffculty.

Perhaps i made some mistakes in this piece. I'm hoping you point it out, lets discuss as mature people. It's a disturbing trend here in nairaland that the first reaction to someone posting a view contrary to someone else is to question the person's intelligence.
I have long studied the history and art of war, right from the Napoleonic battles (where i rule supreme!) to WW2. I'd enjoy disussing the finer points with you, but not in a climate of insults and vitriol, ok? Sheathe ur sword.

hezbollah is not a terrorist organisation thats also a problem to the Lebanese Govt, it is a resistance group that is fighting to stop Israel from occupying Arab lands (Lebanon) which they are very good in doing. Israel, did not until 1948 have a state. It was known previously from the days of the Bible as the land of Palestine. All this we give thanks to the British who have caused nothing on this earth but havoc by mixing people and tribes of different religions, cultures, languages, etc, together, thereby causing unrest in every single country that they have colonised.

Not many people will recall the target killing/assassination of Palestinians by Israeli Defense. It does not matter. They are all terrorists.

Before the latest skirmishes between Hizbollah and Israel began, Israel killed seven Palestinians including three children at a beach in the Gaza strip in June. See: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5065008.stm
Did you hear it in the CNN or Fox News? No. I heard the story on BBC and the Israeli Army initial reaction was to deny it (remember they denied the deliberate bombing of the UN observers) but after much pressure , they agreed to investigate the "accident". Compare this to the kidnapping of 2 soldiers and the destruction of lives and infrastructures in Lebanon that ensued. Who do we blame? I think both sides are guilty. If the US is genuinely interested in finding peace for Israel, then it must look beyond the military option. Hizbollah is an ideology that cannot be defeated by military might but by genuine peaceful effort.
The same article you quote has this at the bottom:
'For many months, the Israelis have been pounding away at open areas such as fields and orchards in an effort to prevent Palestinian militants using them to fire their home-made missiles into nearby Israeli territory.'

Why do you think a country would spend so much money on munitions, firing away at open areas and beaches? israel is willing to go to any length to protect their civillians, a fact which is lost on most Nigerians, we living in a country that could care less about the common people.
Such accidental fatalities are regrettable, no doubt. But u tend to wonder who brought the people in harm's way?

Imagine Anini runs into a house, the police opens fire and an innocent is killed. Does Anini have any right to accuse the police of murder when he himself shares part of the blame? Lame analogy, i'm afraid but its d best i cld come up with at short notice, especially since Anini's been pushing up daisies since the '80s grin.

I could be wrong, but wasn't it the UN that established the resolution creating the nation of israel? if that's right, and the UN is the world's legal regulatory body, doesnt that make it legal?

I called you such because you did the same. Simple as that. Only in my case I was justified as you really are an slowpoke. For example I have not said "lets blame the jews" quit with the stupid bullshit and read what I said. I have said extremists on both sides are to blame for the current situation. READ YOU IDIOT. BOTH SIDES ARE TO BLAME. How many times will I say it, are you mentally retarded? I will state it again, EXTREMISTS ON BOTH SIDES ARE TO BLAME! Has it sunk in yet, are you beggining to get the major gist of my argument. I really hope so unless all hope is lost.

Intolerance is killing 300+ people in the name of killing 5 "terrorists". Intolerance is strapping a bomb to yourself and walking in the middle of a restaurant and killing innocent children. Both will never solve the problem. And contrary to the bullshit you posted I did post a solution, if you took the time to READ WHAT I POSTED. How can I argue with someone who doesnt even read my arguments and just regurgitates the same bull ad nauseum. I said compromise is the answer. Israel has to work out a plan with Palestine and its Arab neighbors if they ever want peace, that should be their primary goal, they should negotiate and negotiate till something is worked out, and it will work, most palestinians aren't extremist bomb strapping fanatics hellbent on destroying Israel, that group is a minority. Most Palestinians want to live in peace, and same goes for the Israelis. Military force will never work unless they go on a genocidal mission and wipe out all their Arab neighbors like the British did the Native Indians of the North Americas.

Exactly, only a Zionists can hold such unbalanced views on the situation. That is why I said I am ashamed if texazzpete is a Nigerian. Are you paid by AIPAC or something to spew such Zionist rhetoric up to the point that you do not even see what I wrote but only what you want to see. I could give a rubbish about the Palestinians, Arabs, Lebanese or Israelis, but I simply call it as it is. I do not take sides, quit trying to portray me like I think what Hezbollah does is justified, I understand why they do it, just like I understood why the British and other European powers sold slaves and treated Africans like chattel. You think I justify that to just because I can rationally explain the motivations behind those heinous, inhumane acts? Get the mess out of hear,

The truth is, i don't really care much what happens in lebanon, iraq et al. and neither should you. I made this point just before the Iraq war started. here's what we should be concerned with;

1 million African children die from malaria every year.

Typically the UN asks for $150 million to aid the lebanese. that cash can save hundreds of thousands of african children. I've been pasionate about this issue for years but all my tirades on foreign forums fall on deaf ears,

4Play ~ You should be ashamed of that statements you made.

It was the Soviet Union that won WW2, where it destroyed some 90% of the much vaunted German Nazi Military, some nine million men and equipments on the Eastern front. America came to the war late in 1944, fearing that the Soviets 'll overrun the whole of Europe. That USA won that war, is an Urban Legend. CNN, BBC and the rest of the media in the West are just the propaganda mouthpiece of their respective government. In Britain, when the government issues a D-Notice on any news, no media dare report it. Your problem is that you believe lock, stock and barrel any sanitized news that comes from the western media.

When was the last time the western media showed Blacks and Africa in a positive light? You should really be thankful to them for portraying you negatively. Omo to yi, o gbon.

In Capitalism, there's no free lunch. During WW2, the rest of the World deposited their Gold in America. America 'll not release the Gold after the war, but would issue credits in form of the Marshall Plan. Its Industrial and Manufacturing base was not destroyed, unlike the war ravaged nations. The American Export, results in the economic boom of the 1950's.

The War opened some opportunities that were once denied, to Black America in terms of much needed manpower in the Manufacturing and Industrial sector of the economy. America had no choice 'because there was no outsourcing back then. You should thank them for that.

The Eastern Europe, especially the Soviet Union, was totally destroyed during the war. No Marshall Plan from America was forthcoming 'because it saw Soviet Union as a miltary threat. The whole of Eastern Europe had to be rebuilt without any foreign aid, unlike the Western Europe. The same thing happened in Korea, where America totally destroyed the North and the North had to be rebuilt.

When America gives you a dollar in Aid, It's getting ten back. It uses the World Bank and the IMF as its instruments. No free lunch in Capitalism.

America went to Somalia 'because of Oil and Gas and the Somali 'll not play ball. It is interested in Sudan, also 'because of Oil and Gas which are now being cornered by the Chinese. America supported Apartheid South Africa until It was no longer profitable.

4Play, and people like you should bury your respective head in the sand. What a bunch of Educated Illiterates.
The Americans entered the war as a direct response to the Japanese bombing of pearl harbour. i find it shocking, shocking that you do not know this. I've heard a lot from die-hard conspiracy theorists, but none of them has ever followed this line of thought. basic research will set you straight.
next, there's no urban legend about the Country that won ww2. While a large number of front line troops of the german army was tied up on the eastern front, failing to credit the US army for decisively finishing off the Afrika Korps (with British aid), Liberating Greece, liberating italy, liberating france, belgium and the low countries. Even on the eastern front, wikipedia will tell you that the soviet Union received a large injection of tanks, aircraft and armoured troop carriers from the US as part of the lend-lease agreement, even when the US was a neutral in the war.
The war against japan was carried out 80% by the americans. the others consisted of Aussies, new zealanders and the british. The russians failed to lift a finger against Japan until germany was defeated, and even then they put in only minimal effort.
of the 3 major axis powers (germany, italy and japan) the US had the major effort in dispatching 2 of them (italy and Japan)
The soviet Union was not 'completely destroyed' durign the war, the germans having failed to penetrate to the oil-rich russian fields. The german blitzkrieg demolished a large part of the soviet union, but the SU retained their economic might. How else were they able to outproduce the germans in terms of materiel?
C'mon, be reasonable. how did a 'completely destroyed nation' finance a nuclear bomb in 1949?
Now about the Marshall plan. Did you know that the Soviet Union restricted access to Eastern Europe, barring even their then-allies from entering, while they crushed the independence of those countries. Did u even know that the SU blockaded berlin, and the US air force had to keep airlifting supplies to the starving berliners? How was money supposed to get in there?
Since when did America totally destroy North Korea? Strange.

This new wave of US bashing is funny. When they deserve it, it's all good. but the wave of looney conspiracy theories ( aguy here in my office swears the US did 9/11 themselves) is baffling.

Lastly, you're right. In capitalism, there's no free lunch. The same can be said for lagos.

It's easy to see you for the sad, little malignant gnome you are. if you think the only way to gain relevance and attention is to interspece your comments with vitriolic insults to your betters, then you're on the wrong track.
in your post, instead of tackling ANY issue, you chose to continue with the endless cycle of 'lets-blame-the jews' without actually putting forward any solution. just because we do not share the same view doesn't give you the right to call me and 'idiot', 'slowpoke' and a 'dumbass'.
I've always wondered how mature senators could exchange blows with their peers in the senate just because of differing views. now your rabid attack shows only too well that intolerance is everywhere.
It's not just me, is it? I've viewed a couple of your posts in other threads and it's alarming how often you resort to insults when confronted with opposing views. YOU paint a negative picture of yourself as an arrogant, intolerant egoist.
As to your statement insinuate i bring shame to Nigeria and nigerians because of my views, that's totally laughable.
So, if your plan is to draw me out, you've failed. You came close, little man, but ultimately all you are is another time wasting diversion.

@ Afam
See? Surprised no one - not even you - called this shango fellow to order just as you were quick to do in my case. Is it because he's on your 'side' in this matter? I hope not.

Back to the topic at hand,

@ medube
This forum is open to everyone above the age of 13. at least i assume it is so. You're NEVER supposed to post such gruesome pictures in plain sight of any minor who might be viewing the page. You should have posted a link, as well as a disclaimer warning anyone visiting the site that it contains explicit and disturbing pictures. You'd receive at best a temp ban on any other forum out there for that. Show some decency and remove them.
Besides, if you claim to be fair, why not display pictures of israeli corpses? The 8 port workers 'fragged' at haifa last week, where are the pictures? perhaps you imagine at impact Hezbollah missile emit puffs of pink colored bubbles? or the 20 + israelis killed so far by the rockets died with cherubic smiles of bliss on their faces? Not likely.

I am apalled at the slaughter in labanon, but not so much that i cannot point an accusing finger at the militia that put their civillians in harm's way. Peace remains a desired outcome, but some of you talk as if all it takes is to grab hezbollah millitants by their hands and sing a rousing rendition of "We are the World" or "Heal the World".
The Jews will never leave israel. where esle will they go? The sooner these guys coem to terms with it, the better for them. As long s they do not accept the Nation of israel, war will always be present.

For the last time, i agree the UN did a great injustice in carving out the territory of Israel from palestine. but unless any of y'all has a time machine handy, i suggest we learn to live with this and go on to find a solution. talking about 1948 will do no good.

For the last time, i say this; take on my points. don't flame me.

e3 cancelled!

dreams up in smoke, yes? no wahala. I heard it has been going downhill, anyway.

'tis good. less of a forum for lazy developers to memerise people with prerendered smoke and mirrors!

Hmmm. Neo, u seem bent on getting a ps3. Cool! Get one an I'll come play it at your house grin
I beg to differ. While e3 might be confusing and sometimes downright shite, its the only way small developers will ever get their games out in public view. heck, even crytek started their career there, when they convinced nvidia to let 'em show off their engine as a geforce tech demo. the rest is history.
Over the years, so many small development houses were able to enter the limelight thanks to exposure at e3. the gaming industry might gripe about the costs and stuff, but there's no better marketing tool than e3 out there at the moment. No where else will we get to see a roundup of great games. instead of trawling the net laboriously looking for good games, an e3 roundup at least shows u the good stuff, the pretty stuff and the bad stuff all a once.

BTW, started using WASD. sooo much easier to crouch, enter bullet time and fire all at the same time. YaY!! cool
Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by texazzpete(m): 3:24pm On Jul 31, 2006
i cannot justify any loss of life in anyway, but at least there's a reason to any madness (well, most of 'em anyways)
The building in question was a derelict 4 storey building. the israeli air force had spent time and effort with announcements, telling all civilians to flee southern lebanon and leave the hezbollah alone. you'd think, just like they did that people would evacuate. unfortunately, several families did not leave, o their own free will. hence the carnage.
the israeli airforce released a video showing hezbollah millitants firing rockets into israel from residential areas. naturally, such sites would be targeted for bombing. the onus now is for the civillians in the area to escape far away from such sites before the hammer falls.
Sky News did a story recently on wave of child casualties during such incidents. Usually, kids from 7-16 flock around the fighters even during the fighting. it's normal childish bravado. unfortunatley it has gotten lots of them killed before.
It's not an easy pill to swallow, but we play Hezbollah's game when we shift all the blame to israel.
Ultimately, the people who brought grief to lebanon in july 2006 weren't jews. They were the Hizbollah terrorists. Pure and simple.
BTW, the day Qana happened, hezbollah rained down over 100 missiles at israel. the katyushas have only a small warhead, imagine if they had 500kg warheads. U know the carnage they would have cheerfully caused?

Let's stop deceiving ourselves. these Hezbollah don't care much about their own people. they just want the slaughter to ontinue unabated.

BTW, i can't recall ever hearing the lebanese president condemning Hizbollah,

Finally, all terrorist groups need/want is public opinion in their favour as they continue their campaign of bloodbath and terror. I hope y'all heard what Al Qaeda said. not content with the 'freedom' of the midle east, their new aim now is the reclamation of all muslim lands from iraq to SPAIN. i hope the spanish people heard that. I wonder where Nigeria fits in all that.

You guys need not worry about Texazzpete's conduct, it is typical of anyone that finds it supremely difficult to marshall out points in a discussion or arguement.

People like that simple shift focus to personalities and leave the issues. If you fall for the trap you will end up discussing the insults and leave the main issues, which by the way is what he wants since he cannot make any reasonable statement on the issues on ground.

Only those incapable of using their brains will be the first to abuse others especially when they start losing arguements.

Concentrating on the issues as against throwing invectives on other people would help.
Perhaps i used strong words in my reply. I freely apologise for this, even though i can't recall ever targetting any one person in particular.
On the other hand, comments that i made no point at all in my submission are strange, to say the least. As for the incapable of using their brains' bit, if you dont think that's kinda hypocritical, you don't know me. I sincerely doubt you can muster up a much cerebral power as i can. take your own advice for a change.
then again, i'm falling for YOUR trap, wasting valuable time and effort replying you. such senseless waste will cease.
I find it absurd that a comment in this thread that 'gadd!! Why didn't Hitler finish the job' went unpunished, while i draw so much flak for a few regrettable, but not as terrible comments. Since when did the slaughter of 6 million jews become less vile than a few 'insults'.

I made a few points in my argument. perhaps not as good as i'd have done if i wasnt so tired when i wrote it in yesterday, but points nonetheless. Reply them if you will, but don't try to take me on.
And just for the record, i apologise for any errant remarks i made in my earlier post. You can either accept that, or continue in the 'let's flame texazzpete' vein. na u know.

i would never die for Nigeria just like that. The sacrifice has to be something that would be deeply appreciated.
even then, i can't imagine myself laying down my life for this awkward entity we call a country.
I , however, am not a coward. In case naija become embroiled in a war, i would gladly enlist, knowing as i did so that death for my country is a very possible outcome,

How u can even question the necessity behind suh an action escapes me. why do u think Bin Laden hasn't been able to attack israel? why did he go all the ay o the US and psain to carry out attacks?

If u were an american, and u knew that in 1981 Hezbollah blew up a us base, killing 241 Us marines in one fell swoop, would u not encourage someone in stamping them out?
Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by texazzpete(m): 10:22pm On Jul 30, 2006
some of y'all on this forum are so naive, it hurts. It's so easy for people to condemn isreal, especially jobless naijans who know nothing of living with a siege mentality.
Hezbollah crossed over into the sovereign territory of israel, killed a couple of soldiers, destroyed a tank and kidnapped two others. Hezbollah currently has a sizable population in the lebanese government. ergo, the lebanese goverment was involved and this legitimises the act as an act of war.
if we must repect the sanctity of life, why not do it in a balanced way? Do you think the missiles Hezbollah lobs at israel does not inflict casualties too?
The Katyusha missiles fired by Hezbollah at israel has a limited payload. If hezbollah could fire 500kg warheads, do you think they wouldnt have done it to cause more casualties?
8 people were killed in Haifa when a missile came down through the roof of the building they were in. why? because the warhead was liberally laced with ball bearings, an act designed to send out waves of shrapnel into clusters of civillians, causing as much damage as possible. How many of you all slagging israel have seen pics of the 33 civillians killed in israel so far? yet we all are willing to buy most of the Al-jazeera hype.
at least the IDf and IAF drops leaflets most times, telling the civillian populace to evacuate. yet they still stay behind often as human shields for the terrorists. Of course, the ever grateful Hezbollah scum show off the dead bodies of such misguided people as signs of 'israeli aggression'.
then lots of naijans, sitting in comfy armchairs, knowing nothing of what it is like to be surrounded by nations completely dedicated to ur destruction.
I keep hearing the refrain "only 2 soldiers" over and over again. of course, its understandable coming from my fellow nigerians. Fools!
no wonder we gave charles taylor refuge here in calabar, even after it was common knowledge that he fed 2 nigerian reporters alive to crocodiles in liberia. did we care? after all, it was 'only 2 journalists'.
we should cringe in shame that we live n a country where our lives do not matter.
after the entebbe hijacking, the israeli nation decided never to leave any of their citizens behind. Asking to exchange 2 foot soldiers for thousands of brigands and terrorists is absurd.
so what was israeal to do? leave the guys to rot there? release killers who would go ahead and kill again?

Don't fall for the hype. Hezbollah millitants custmarily drive to a residential area, launch several missiles and then wait for the Israeli air force to plaster the area with bombs, then fish out the corpses and go to Al-Jazeera with cries of outrage. All this while they coat their warheads in ball bearings, preparing to fire them into civilian areas in haifa et al.

For crying out loud, talking about the land 'usurped' by israel in 1948 is not constructive. except u can create a time machine and go back in time to reverse this, all we need look towards now is the solution.

yeah, was able to eke out 14fps from resident evil 4. check out the screenshot above. Then again, it's one of the most compatible out there so guess ppl shouldnt get their hopes up too high. I'm sure u can get more than that on ur rig.

Actually the biafran army created and operated several armoured vehicles, including tanks and APCs. a visit to the National War Museum Umuahia will show u. they had a Research and procurement (RAP) team that was responsible for the manufacture of such arms. They were so advanced, they had multiple revisions and classes of each tank and APC.
Biafran versions of Federal Field Guns were also created. Mortars, mines and other weapons of war were fabricated by the RAp group.
Funy enough, i'm an avid student of warfare opver the ages but i've never really been bothered about the nigerian Civil War. I know far more about the napoleonic battles of old than the Naija war,

why are u making a mountain out of a molehill? it's called christian ubuntu for a reason. it's got software on it and planned for it that is christian-centered. i dont see what the big deal is. if anything , you're the one stirring up the pot here.
When LG came out with the islamic phone, the one that shows the direction of mecca and has Koranic passages, did anyone cry foul? it was just a phone designed to cater for the needs of several muslims.

ChristianUbuntu dont say anything inflammatory, or say stuff like 'th eonly linux fit for christains'. Instead it's tailoring some specific stuff on it for christians only. Why gripe over just its one christian feature at launch? These people aren't being paid for this. I'm surprised to see you, a self-proclaimed open source champion saying such things. These things take time.

As for the 'belligerence' part, didn't the book of revelations say somehting about jesus coming forth from Heaven with a sword in his hand? Why don't you go all out and accuse the Bible and Jesus Himself of belligerence?

Your argument lacks merit and is a blatant attempt at sowing seeds of religious crisis. I'd suggest that the Moderator of this forum applies Consequence Management to you to deter you from such malicious acts in the future. I've seen people get temp banned for less than this.

didn't dig the whole demons-shrieking thingy in doom3. Monsters popping out at u from different corners etc.
just downloaded the FEAR demo. man, the AI there is so tight. Gets a bit tired seeign guys jumping thru windows sha.

i'm having to do a rethink. usually i remap my movement/strafe buttons to the directional arows on the KB, but it makes it harder to activate bullet time/crouch/jump moves in many FPS, so i'm gonna try using WASD. at least i can then fight and hit the left Ctrl and Shift buttons easily. The way i was playing before, i was more of run and gun than stealth, butnow more games are coming out with badder Ai so ur character doesnt seem so overpowered. I'v edied in FEAR and far Cry so many times,

My dream is to go online one day and test my skillz against those Counterstrike gamers. they're about the best FPS ppl in d world. We'll see,

Meeeeen

A biafran war game will totally lead to the DEATH BY LYNCHING of whoever writes it, by people who have never played a game before or even know what it is.

I would never go near there!

A game where you exclusively kill people who speak Igbo? I would never even play such a game. Besides the biafran war was only a war in the loosest sense of it. It was a massacre. A deranged madman led a poorly armed force to their deaths. Not an episode to relive under any circumstance,

ww2 games however, rock!
not if it could be done that u could choose your own side and play a team based game, a la battlefield Vietnam. thus anyone'd be able to choose whatever side they wanted and then u could role-play all you like, bet u that most people who play with the Biafran side will be our brothers from the east.
Missions like storming the onitsha bridge (was it up then) and 'The battle of Abiriba' might feature. You might have to mod out weapons like rocket launchers and put in ogbunigwe flying mines and stuff. federal troops pack standard army rations, Biafran troops lug around parboiled lizards and pureed rodents.

As for the 'deranged madman leading troops' stuff, you're bound to get flamed by many of the people on this forum if they get a whiff of this page. strange to me why people feel so strongly abt this issue till now,

ja, herr Neoteny, That is correct!
Though i'm pretty sure lots of war casualties in poland, france and russia (as well as those who survived the hell of a pre-1943 blitzkrieg) would roll over in their graves to hear u call the Wehrmacht lame.
Skorzeny, rommel, yeah those were tough guys. No one wanted to mess with the Waffen-SS. Gott in Himmel, the SchutzStaffel were some wicked bastards. That's why stalin ordered them shot on the spot on capture.
Pity sha. for every one Rommel, there were 10 Goerings.

Plus, there are tons of WW2 games out there, but they stil manage to keep things fresh.
