Radiant:
We all talking about interviews here. I wish that could be a genuine standard for employers.Gimme a break please. Have you thought about how many people get jobs based on the result of their interview? Most jobs are through connections and for the ladies an interview isn't necessary sometimes as the alternative could be having an affair with the boss or whoever. (Prove me wrong as some of you would)  undecided
Infact, how many workers in Nigeria have a degree  huh Most times, productivity is what really matters not necessarily the so called "degree"
Besides, a degree in a particular field don't mean you'll end up working in that filed. I know a pharmacist who's the manager of a car company in PH.
Also know a chemical engineer working at first bank. And so many others. How d'u explain that? undecided
Most skilled workers in nigeria have degrees. How many companies in thsi da and age will fill their payroll with inept people all in the name of connections? If a bank hires 3 thru conections, they'd hire 20 on merit.

I've heard statements like "most students with high grades bribe or sleep with lecturers to get them" in this thread. Most people who mouth that are intellectually mediocre people who don ot have the guts to blame themselves for their academic woes. except you mean that those with poor degrees are those who do not bribe, are intelligent but are victimized into getting a poor grade.
i wish some nigerians would have the guts to blame themselves when things go wrong. I met a guy during my NYSC, easily as intelligent as myself (and i'm no dunce, lemme tell ya  grin) who graduated with a pass degree. he was candid enuff to tell his incredulous listeners that he got a Pass because, as he put it, "I was on too much crack & i bleeped up!"

Some Genius here also said "employers should give all job seekers a level playing ground, irrespective of the degree". So pray, tell me, O bright One, what then is the purpose of having a good degree then? what's the purpose of being serious in school? Even if a First class is too much of a stretch, can't peeps just work for a second class? Any more bright ideas, Einstein?

If i'm in HR, i'd give First class and all second class a level playing field. I'd assume that all Third class are either dunces, unserious people or both. Either way, they're bad for business.

Education's like a job. parents pay school fees, expecting u to deliver a decent result. U fail at that task woefully with a 3rd class, and then still expect to dine at the same table with serious people because, on a primal level, 'you can deliver'.

Much of what you learn in Naija Unis, u forget anyway. but Unis prep your mind for more things, makes u more intellectually minded, more open to new things. that's why graduates can cross overto different fields.
A good mechanical Engineering graduate will find it easier doing a Masters program in Biochemistry than Chris Uba  grin

@davidylan
thanks for clearing things up. now i know my headaches aren't caused from too many computer sessions, but by US policies and death-dealing rays from CIA spy satellites in orbit.

Sadly, i have no link to corroborate my story, but rest assured i'm keeping a close watch on conspiracy theory sites in case someone else has side effects from the death ray thingies. In the course of my watch, i hope to run into frequent purveyors of such CT sites who like myself scour each and every story looking for URLs to post. If i'm lucky, i might get some good URls myself, so like them i can get that warm feeling of being smart, wise, intelligent  and of being among the lucky smart/wise ppl that KNOW that the US policies caused everything from WW2 to curdled cheese in karachi.

And they are truly wise!! Who else but Chxta, Afam, Medube and Brown-Eyes who have the brain power to figure out the truth, that Israeli missiles kill civillians horribly, while Hezbollah katyusha missiles explode into harmless, sweet-smelling. pink, frothy bubbles?
Who else are smart enough to carry the hearts and minds of Hezbollah with peaceful dialogue? Who else have fashioned smart bombs that can 'sort out' Hezbollah millitants firing Fajr missiles from a civillian backyard without terminating the unfortunate family in the process?
Who else can easily cry against 'disproportionate violence' because of the israeli - lebanese casualty ratio, yet brilliantly advocate the release of over 1000 lebanese (of which a large number of them are killers, terrorists, sworn enemies of israel) for just two israeli captured soldiers?
Who else came up with the brilliant idea of 'returning' the land to the Palestinians, and who no doubt have a brilliant plan for the relocation and resettlement of over 10 million isrealis? Or may we dare hope that they have brilliantly conceived of some Nazi-esque 'showers' for a final solution?

Who else can discern the truth, that despite the fact numerous countries the world over engage in arms trade,a nd despite the fact that the US also sells weapons to India, saudi and Taiwan, the US is definitely to blame for selling and giving Israel weapons. In fact, these geniuses now show that the arms sold to India and pakistan are probably the reason for the tensions between both countries. Infact, the recent train blasts in india can be laid at the door of the US? Whee!

I'm sure the Brilliant ones have now realized that the CIA sponsors iran, seeing as pre-shah f-14s and f-4s are still in use in the Iranian air force. Also, since lots of American built Stinger AA missiles are in the hands of terrorists and guerillas the world over, it's possible that the CIA secretly funds Al-Qaeda.

Hmm. Soviet RPGs and Aks are preferred weapons of terorists. methinks we should include Russia's foriegn policy too.

So proud ot my new deductive powers. comes with hanging with the likes of Chxta, Afam et al.

I wait, watching all Conspiracy theory sites. Hope i run into Chxta and his merry band of peacemakers grin.

Got this quote from yahoo news:
"Western aid and Israeli transfer payments, now withheld, had been the main source of government salaries before Hamas took power. The payment of erratic, small stipends has done little to alleviate the plight of many Palestinians. "

if we must shower blame and hate because the US sells arms to Israel, should we withold praise when western aid is handed out?
We all say "The US is not doing these things for free" but what concern does that have for a starving urchin in the streets? at this point, that's what matters most.
those clamoring for an end to 'american hegemony' should ask themselves how much foreign aid the new superpower on the block (china) and the old-but-virile superpower (Russia) render each year.

@Mariory
Naija's bound to happen sooner than later. When a religious group tells a country what kind of beauty peagent to host, when doings in far-away denmark leads to innocent people being decapitated in the north, it tells you that sooner or later these things will strike home.
Osama bin laden vcds sell like hot cakes up north. People tell me he's no leader or muslims, but he's one of the biggest negaitve influence on young muslims the world over. millions idolize and follow his ideologies because he has not been condemned. It's funny how a fatwa can be declared upon a young journalist and then Osama, who my muslim friends assures me does unislamic things, is left to roam and spread his viral messages.

@brown-Eyes
no, i did not factor in the word 'depleted' for the simple reason that depleted uranium ordnance is never dropped but fired as armor piercing rounds or shells. So when u used the word 'dropped' the first thing i thot of was nukes. it's no big issue sha.

Afam:
Reproduced from another discussion forum, a response to post on 63% of Israelis wanting their PM out.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

During one of Israel's many wars, Golda Meir offered this famous – and tragic – observation: "The Arabs can fight, and lose, and return to fight another day. Israel can only lose once." Golda's assessment became a truism of the Middle East up until now. And the jury is still out as to whether her assessment remains true to this day.

In the strange and surreal world that is the Middle East, Israel lost its war with Hezbollah. And while it remains intact at the moment, her enemies no longer view the Jewish state as invincible. Those calling for Olmert's head are simply miffed by this fact.
History tells us that means the current cease-fire is a temporary condition at best, and that next time, Israel will be facing a lot more than an outlaw terrorist organization like Hezbollah.

Israel will likely face a lot more formidable enemy than just Hezbollah next time. And make no mistake – there will be a "next time."

Israel, for the first time in its history, failed to meet a single one of its war objectives. It meekly accepted a substandard, U.N.-imposed cease-fire, leaving Hezbollah largely intact, Hassan Nasrallah unscathed; it failed to eliminate Hezbollah's arsenal of rockets; and, worst of all, it came home without the two hostages kidnapped by Hezbollah that prompted the war in the first place. Under the circumstances, I do not expect patriotic Isrealis to hail Olmert. Hezbollah can more comfortably claiim to have won the war. Believe that!

Until now, it had been an unshakeable article of faith that Israel was capable of imposing whatever outcome it deemed necessary against any Arab force. And, until now, Israel continued to press its military advantage until it had attained its stated goals.

That is no longer the case. After a month-long war, Israeli forces limped home as Hezbollah, Syria and Iran all claimed victory against the Jewish state.

It was defeated by a newly invented international “law of proportional response.” (Is Afam listening?)This is the new inept idea of the U.S. ‘liberal establishment’ and the vast majority of ‘America-haters’ in the U.N.

It dictates that no nation, especially America and Israel, can achieve a greater victory against its enemies than its enemies are capable of inflicting upon them.

Of course, such a ridiculous law could only be imposed against Israel. The United States did not use “proportional” force against the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan in 2002. Did they?

Osama bin Laden used three commercial airplanes against the United States. The United States used every weapon in its formidable arsenal, with the exception of nuclear weapons, to bomb Afghanistan further into the Stone Age than it had already been.

Were the United States to subject itself to the law of proportional response, we would have sent 19 guys with armed with box knives to exact revenge for Sept. 11. Of course this is beyond stupidity. But it evidently didn't sound as stupid when Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signed on to the idea and surrendered to the U.N. in demanding a cease-fire.

This Cease-Fire agreement leaves Hezbollah fully armed, remaining in place, their formidably fortified bunkers with world class electronics in tact and in possession of thousands of rockets and missiles that are still hidden.

Worse, it places the useless Lebanese and U.N. troops between Israel and Hezbollah. This enables Hezbollah to use them as a shield while they re-arm, regroup and prepare for the next attack. Oh, Secretary Rice spoke great, swelling words about not maintaining the status quo, but when it got down to it, she folded up like a cheap lawn chair .

The “status quo” before Israel attacked Hezbollah had the armed terror group ensconced along Israel’s borders, raiding Israeli territory at will, and killing and kidnapping any Israeli soldier within reach of its infiltrating forces, without fear of interference from the incompetent and unsympathetic UNIFIL forces ostensibly stationed there to ensure Israel’s border security.

Following Israel’s month-long war, Hezbollah remains intact, armed with long-range rockets, capable of attacking Israel at will without fear of interference from the UNIFIL forces still stationed there. The only difference is that Lebanon is dispatching a military force that it openly admits has no intention of either disarming Hezbollah or engaging it militarily if it decides to resume its previous infiltration or kidnapping tactics.

The U.N. has yet to put together a credible military deterrent, and so far, the only nations willing to contribute troops are overwhelmingly sympathetic to Hezbollah and Lebanon. The biggest contributor so far is France. Lebanon is a former French colony.

Hezbollah acquired new Russian made anti-tank weapons from Iran via Syria that decimated Israeli armor. Israel’s vaunted Merkava battle tank had no electronic defenses or armor that protected it against this new anti-tank missile. Israel lost between 55 to 60 tanks in the month-long war.

Syria and Iran have both since claimed joint victory against Israel, along with Hezbollah, and have pledged to continue the conflict until Israel has been wiped from the map.

Hezbollah has demonstrated that total Arab defeat is not inevitable – and with this demonstration, Israel has lost its tremendous psychological advantage.

If Hezbollah could hold the mighty Israeli juggernaut at bay, then the possibility that Israel could finally and decisively be wiped from the map of the Middle East by another pan-Arab army is once again, feasible.

Hezbollah has emerged as a massive political force. Syria, marginalized in recent years, has re-emerged as a regional player as Hezbollah's patron. Hezbollah's victory represents a victory for Iran and the Shia. Hezbollah, a Shiite force, has done what others could not do.

This will certainly result in both Jordan and Egypt rethinking their own assumptions about the viability of another war of annihilation against Israel. In a sense, the Arabs have little to lose by taking the risk.

If they win, they will have succeeded in reclaiming their lost honor in previous conflicts, with the added bonus of having rid the world of the Jews, And if they lose, they can once again count on the U.N. imposing a cease-fire in time for them to remain intact and viable.

The worst danger revealed in this war is the new majority attitude of the Israelis that is reflected in the government leaders under Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
For the first time, Israeli leadership so restricted the military leadership, that they were not able to mobilize the size of ground force needed to defeat a well-trained and heavily fortified army. Because of concern about world opinion, they so restricted the general’s freedom of attack strategy that there was confusion in the ranks on the field. This is the deadliest revelation of this war. In all of Israel’s past wars, they have fought with tactical audacity and the immediate all-out commitment of manpower and weaponry against the enemy. They used the “blitzkrieg” or “lightening war” strategy.

In this war, they gradually committed troops, piecemeal, with a day-by-day revision of strategy. This ultimately resulted in strategic hesitation and confusion.
The worst possible consequence is that Hezbollah has claimed Israel is no longer invincible on the battlefield.

This is exactly the outcome that both Damascus and Tehran had been hoping for, although they certainly didn't expect it. But now that it is a reality, Golda's words echo with haunting clarity. "The Arabs can fight, and lose, and return to fight another day. Israel can only lose once."

Let us pray that Israel has learned a vital lesson before it is too late.Olmert should indeed be the most unpopular figure in Israel at this time. The present appeasement minded government has sacrificed Israel's myth on the altar of public opinion.Someone like Binyamin Netanyahu will be remembered with nostalgia, Oh! how Israel NEEDS his mettle at this time!!!
You claim israel's 'loss' of the war against Hezbollah showed the world that Israel isn't invincible, exposing weakness. tell me, What would israel folding its arms and doing nothing after the brazen kidnap of its citizens have shown? Invincibility? Your argument is self-defeating.

After the US pulled out of Somalia (after black hawk down) in the early '90s, osama was heard to remark that he was' astonished how weak the americans were, not like the soviets at all'. Sources claim that was the moment he resolved to declare war on America. Weakness shown by inaction.

Israel only 'lost' this war because the enemy was hiding behind civillians, drumming up high civillian casualties and causing global outcry at the slaughter. Then after israel pulled back, people who demanded an end to the violence - people like you!- come gleefully announcing a loss for israel.
Osama believes all americans, including women and children are legitimate targets. that is true terror. if israel was a truly terrorist state as many of you proclaim, the war would perhaps have continued indefiniely, with no regard for civillian casualties. hezbollah would have been crushed.
3000 people died 5 years ago in the WTC. All people like you can say is "blame the US foreign policy". that's kinda like mouthing the slogan "Guns don't kill people, people do" as an excuse not to ban firearms.

@texazzpete,

Let me first touch on the issue of our fore fathers dancing around half naked!! I must admit that they danced that way, that is who they were. The black people started wearing clothes and taking regular showers before the white men. Please read your history. We were actually underdeveloped by the advent of the white mans greed that brought them to Africa. Now that we are all wearing clothes, what have we achieved? Nothing but rape, child molestation/abuse and mans physical attraction to his fellow man. All these decadence came with the so called civilization.

Culture is open to interpretation. The English people have abandoned their culture totally in favour of "politically correct issues" Once you do this, morals and family values go out of the window. Look at the divorce rate in the western world. Single parent families are so abundant that girls do not want to get married anymore. Social misfits all come from broken homes in general give or take a few. The teenagers in the UK now are brought up by parents that were not disciplined as kids. No stable family background, how do you expect him/her to raise a child?

Let us embrace our culture. Most Nigerians that have not been to the UK will not fully understand that the white man does not hold a candle to us. They will be totally disappointed when they get here.

Chuma.
The white man underdeveloped us, you say? In the entire history of the black race, apart from maybe the nubians and ethiopians, is there any naija race that invented or used the wheel? If scientists hail the invention of the Wheel as one of he major milestones in science and tech. what does that say about our development?
Dunno about the 'fully clothed' part ure talkign about. if anything, i think the white men (english) were even overdressed! The romans, the gauls, the goths, the huns, all wore clothes.
Let's get real. the Gypsy, romany, jewish and many other cultures are everybit as rich as that of the yorubas, hausas etc.
I still persist that many aspects of 'culture' and tribalism are what draws nigeria back for true development. Stalin once asked "How many divisions does the pope have". I make bold to say "how many megawatts of electricity does your culture generate?"
Do not despair, however. The home video crowd owe a lot to Nigeria's rich culture. So all you guys who watch such crap, you know where to lay the kudos.

I appreciate m culture o! I just dont think its right to diss other cultures.

There are more single parents and broken marriages in the Uk, true. But what's the HIV infection rate, the Ritual murder rate (which is tied directly to our culture o!) and the number of babies dumped in refuse heaps in Nigeria? Answer honestly now, !

You want to understand the reasons suicide bombers behave this way and i say look not to their religion but to the one that pulls the strings.
Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world. there's nothing courageous about suicide, in fact it's downright cowardly most times. Lots of courage could be attributed perhaps to the japanese Kamikaze pilots and the samurai of old who commited ritual suicide at the drop of a hat. In the japanese Shinsengumi unit in the 19th century, all members iof a patrol were expected to kill themselves by slashing their stomachs if their leader was killed. Compare and contrst that with an instant (painless) death by explosion with the sure promise of an afterlife filled with nubile virgins.
The 'Operation Northwoods' document has highlighted the probability of the US govt being capable of killing their own people to achieve their own goals.

This has been covered by ABC news - http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92662&page=

The entire document can be found here - http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/news/20010430/
Isn't it a teensy-weensy bit devious on your part to state something like this without adding this bit on page 3 of the abc news link:

"Whether the Joint Chiefs' plans were rejected by McNamara in the meeting is not clear. But three days later, President Kennedy told Lemnitzer directly there was virtually no possibility of ever using overt force to take Cuba, Bamford reports. Within months, Lemnitzer would be denied another term as chairman and transferred to another job"

Or, in short, without adding that the Kennedy-led administration emphatically rejected such a plan, and even after the Joint chiefs continued to push for the plan, presidential approval was never given?

So yes, while such a probability exists, it's extremely unlikely.

I'm no american apologists, but it's funny that people reject all links btw Islam and terrorism and then label America (all 299 Million citizens) as being the root of all the world's evil.
on so many blogs i've visited, i've seen many people gleefully predicting the 'eventual decline of american hegemony'. Ok! Bring on the Chinese!

We blind our eyes to the truth,
recently Al-Qaeda released a new video tape. here's what Al-Qaeda's new kid on the block had to say:

"It is time for the unbelievers to discard these incoherent and illogical beliefs," he said. "Isn't it the time for the Christians, Jews, Buddhists and atheists to cast off the cloak of the spiritual darkness which enshrouds them and emerge into the light of Islam?"

Al-qaeda goes on to praise the shooting of some british civillians in Jordan recently, saying that
"Infidels who wander the holy land will be killed"

So much for what my JS1 Moral Intruction teacher taught me, that the God of Christians and Allah of muslims are one and the same and Xtians and Muslims are one. Myth busted.

Also the palestinian terrorist group that kidnapped the 2 journalists recently  promised to kill any 'infidel' ie non-muslim seen in the Holy land.
Hang on as sec.  there's a relatively large community of palestinian and lebanese christians, aren't there? So after Israel 'does the right thing' and hands over the land back to the palestinians, what happens to the christians? Oops, sorry, the Infidels?
Al qaeda is drawing the battle lines even as we speak. THEY are the ones bringing in religious sentiments, and then they try and whip up cheap PR by labelling non-muslims 'Crusaders'.

If a terrorist movement or body springs up, professing to fight in the name of Jesus, you can bet Christian leaders the world over will come out strongly condemning. and therein lies the reason for the growing hatred and distrust for muslims; NO ONE CONDEMNS! Not the Mullahs in iran, not the Imams in Saudi Arabia, nor the respected and revered clerics in syria, jordan, egypt etc. In any argument you hear them say "osama is not a true representative of Islam" but no one comes forth to condemn.
Silence usually means assent or complicity, FYI. Evil progresses when good men do nothing.
I mean, it's okay when my muslim friends assure me that mutilation is un-Islamic. yet they say nothing even when voices are heard chanting "Allahu Akbar" as Margaret Hassan's Throat was decapitated. An old woman who had lived in Iraq for over 20 years was decapitated to chants of Allahu Akbar and yet no one condemns.
And surely these revered clerics and imams are honourable men!

In the early 80s when Pope John Paul II was shot by Mehmet Ali Agca, Muslims leaders the world over came out to condemn this action. Then, all was well. islamic tenets were preserved and the whole world believed islam truly meant 'peace'.
Now? It's not unlikely that al-qaeda has a Pope-killing plan all mapped out. I'm willing to bet Chxta's left testicle that if this happens the condemnatory voices will be a trickle. What we'll see is many 'devout muslims' in the Mid-east (and the Northern Nigeria) peacefully firing Ak-47s in the air. peacefully. It's a religion of peace after all. the clerics say so.
And the clerics are honourable men!

Blame CNN all you want, but we know that when you do not condemn, when you do not oppose, you support. there's no room for middle ground. Either you're for God or for the Devil.

i fully expect to get flamed for this post. I've tried to project my reasons for distrust, not hatred. whether i've suceeded or failed, people may still take offence at soem things ive said. Those who thrive on online sparring will sift through my words, ready to gleefully pounce on any mistake or innacuracies in this post. but one thing that should be clear to everyone from the direction Al-qaeda's going, there'll soon be a call for a worldwide jihad against Christians/crusaders/infidels. And to you, i offer this age old advice:
Gird your loins!
You'd do well to listen to me, for I too am an honourable man  grin

PS: forgive me 4 all this 'honourable' stuff. just watched a very bad rendition of Julius Ceaser

Why is it that we africans believe that just cos our forefathers used talking drums and used to prance around half-naked in the village square we're the only ones that have a culture? I know the americans don't have much of a culture, but the English? that's stretching it a bit far. Here's a hint: they're a lot different from us, so dont look for similarities. Whether first or third class does not really matter to me. What really matters most is your ability to deliver.

There are so many first class materials that can not defend their certificates. It's only in Nigeria that we worship certificates, that all these count. In developed countries they do not care about what you come with.

Still, I am not suprised if Tony had third class. Still he was able to turn UBA to a merged bank, right?
Try finishing middle of your class in any law school in the US and see how many law firms line up for you. I'd have thought it'd be the other way round, cos in 'developed countries' the standard of education is much higher and much better. If you end up with a poor grade, it's wholly your fault.
i agree with you, first class or 2.1 isn't always an indication of your true potential. But in so many ways, it's an indication of your seriousness and will to excel. and that's what many employers look for!

anyway, it's apparent that you're a skeptical person by nature. When next u feel the urge to condemn what you know little about, remember the ancient saying "there is none so blind as they who will not see"

No matter the amenities on ground, one cannot discount the Nigerian Factor. As one guy said to me the other day, Nigerians would queue up quietly and politely at Heathrow airport and then Squabble noisily @ airports in Naija. Why?

It might be funny hearing stuff about terrorist attacks on buses in the UK. but dont forget we have our own fears in nigeria, and advice that has been built into us. How many Britons go about scared of Witches and Jazz? How many One-chance robberies in the UK? Aren't bikes allowed to move around the streets of britain after 7pm? If u stay in the UK, will the news advise u against entering buses at 6am for fear of robbers or ritualists?

compare infant mortality rates, life expectancy and % HIV Infection ratio of britain and Nigeria and see which one comes out tops.

Besides, terrorism in the UK had prolly killed far less that accidents have claimed in naija as per bad roads.
I'm sure the millions of Non-muslims living in Northern Nigeria feel safe as houses,

Orikinla:
Brown-Eyes,
Thank you for your insight.

The warped intelligence of those challenging the result of a BBC survey is caused by their ignorance and quasi-arrogance.

If the majority of Nigerians enjoy all the benefits of the social security provided in Britain, majority of Nigerians would be more disciplined, more tolerant and less anti-social than all the lunatic fringe elements on the prowl in England.

Here I am in our Nigerian LNG RA on Bonny Island and the crime rate is zero!

I am not afraid to enter the plane or ride on the bus or take the locomotive to any where.
No suicide bomb scare. grin

I know thousands of Nigerians in the UK who are living like third class citizens and are poorer now than when they were in Nigeria.
@Orikinla
90% of LNG staff i've met living in the RA admit that the RA isn't a good representative of how Nigeria truly is. It's so bad that someone was wondering how his kids would cope when they had 2 go to University level.
Saying that Nigeria would be better that the Uk if we had good amenities is weird. We dont have them, simple. Work and compare with what you have.
Also, just for this statement "The warped intelligence of those challenging the result of a BBC survey is caused by their ignorance and quasi-arrogance." you must know you come across as an extremely uncouth fellow. Why subscribe to the Nigerian theory of insulting people who do not agree with you? Thot that kinda talk was reserved for PDP politicians grin

Gaming › Re: Exclusive to Xbox 360: Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and FIFA 2007 by texazzpete(m): 12:39am On Aug 29, 2006
Bubble bursta from Gamespot.com

Konami has called a foul on Microsoft's recent announcement of next-gen soccer exclusivity. At last week's Leipzig Games Convention, one of the electronics giant's biggest announcements was that Konami's Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer and Electronic Arts' FIFA Soccer series would be "next-gen exclusive" to the Xbox 360 for 12 months, meaning neither game would be hitting the PlayStation 3 or Wii.

That's simply not the case, according to Konami. The Japanese publisher has released the following statement on its English-language Web site:

It has been falsely reported on some websites that Konami will release its Pro Evolution Soccer 6 exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360. These reports are not true. Konami is currently proceeding with the production of a multi-platform release of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 so that as many people as possible can enjoy the game.

While the phrasing of that statement could mean Konami simply refutes any reports that the game would be entirely exclusive to the 360 and not appearing on current-gen systems at all, a Konami rep told GameSpot the statement was in reference to Microsoft's press release claiming next-gen exclusivity. That press release was worded ambiguously to say that the franchises would be next-gen exclusive to the Xbox 360 "this year," which could mean the calendar year 2006 or the 12-month exclusivity widely reported. (Before running with the 12-month figure, GameSpot repeatedly confirmed the yearlong period with Microsoft representatives.)

As if this weren't confusing enough, the same Konami representative also told GameSpot that "there is no PS3 version of Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007, but the series' producer has stated that the series will eventually be coming to PS3." This could mean that Konami expects Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 to come out before the announced 12-month exclusivity window will end, or a differently named PS3 or Wii version might be released in the first half of next year.

For EA's part, it appears the publisher is standing by Microsoft's statement. An EA rep told GameSpot bluntly that "FIFA 07 will not be coming to PS3 and Wii. It is available on all current gen platforms and Xbox 360 only." However, that still doesn't exclude the possibility of a FIFA title appearing on PS3 or Wii under another name next year.

As of press time, Microsoft had not returned requests for comments on the situation.

So it seems M$ were being dodgy as per the winning eleven exclusivity thingy. As for EA and FIFA, they can go kiss my Arse!
*Sigh*
All these statements, all these denials, so confusing. Why do they lay these troubles on an already troubled man?
Guess i'll hold off buying an xbox 360 then, !

BTW, i have 2 disagree with ur comment on N64. i thot u said u were taking things old skool? then why diss an 11yr old console for its gfx? check out games like conker's bad fur day, zelda 64 and even mario 64 to truly appreciate its power.

ps3 is the best game console presently and its goin to stay lik that for a long time
Dude. the Ps3 aint out yet, so how come it's the best 'presently'?
now we've dispensed with da english check, it's not really wise to judge console sales and acceptance by specs alone. the sega saturn was more powerful than the playstation, but it keeled over and died early on for a myriad of reasons. The ps2 was the weakest of the current gen systems, yet it won the console war by a loong margin.
I need not even go as far as mentioning all the other companies that have come after nintendo's game boy with superior hardware and graphics. many have tried, all have failed. Go Ninty!! (yeah, i'm a fanboy)
The Wii's got 27 launch titles already. I'm definitely picking one up at launch, then i'll wait awhile b4 getting the ps3.  if the recent strides in xbox 360 hacking become a reality, then i will forsake the ps3 (gladly!) and get a 360 for my next-gen needs.
so it's the Wii and one other for me. thats all!

hey tp + neoteny,

tp:

He had to pay that much because of launch scarcity. Dont be naive, you will probably not be able to find a system at launch for that price AND ship it to te country without racking it up something wicked.

On the flipsde however, while yahooboys are the scum of the earth and should all be put in a human meat grinder, understand that their evil acts have actually opened a path for you to get your 600dollar price tag. They get those things free, you know.
I know, i know, just hoping that the immense backlash againt the ps3 price wil lead to ps3 still on shelves dec 2006. As in, the holiday periods r usually when console launches hammer in terms of sales, btu i dont see middle class US families gettign their kids $600 consoles.
Would be a lot easier if u could preorder sha,
On the flipside, i remember the woes of most pof my guys who got ps2s at launch. Disc read Error, anyone?

GPU = graphics processing Unit.

if ure using a desktop, it's fairly easy to upgrade to at least a decent gfx card.
get ou a copy of Wednesday Guardian. Check computer shops until u see stuff like "256MB Nvidia geforce" or "128Mb radeon" or some other generic stuf like that. don't worry if you dont see exactly what i wrote there, these otigba boys r notorious for their bad spelling and there are a lot of graphics cards out there.

PLEASE BY GOD DO NOT BUY ANY 32 MB GRAPHICS CARD. RUN FAR AWAY FROM ANY ATI RAGE OR ANY VOODOO CARD!!!!!

how much was your phone when you bought it? how much is it now?

how much was your ps2 when you bought it? how much is it now?

the point is, you can wait forever if u so wish but all that'll happen is that prices will keep falling. you can wait until its 15k for a ps3, but using your logic i could tell you by then that you should have waited till its 5k, and someone may say wait till its 1k5, and so on. if i can afford it, i will buy it. because wats good for u is worth the price.

and when u say "hold on on to your dreams" u make it sound like buying a ps3 is impossible for me in the short run. well, brah, i was "dreaming" about the ps2 and i still bought it for 120k, and now its just a doorstop on steroids for all the use i make of it. so at the risk of sounding like a stupid preening A-hole i'll say just MAYBE i can squeeze out 180 to buy the shite. sounds dumb? opportunity cost. maybe i don't have much else to buy with the money. maybe im just plain fukking nuts.

@dakmanzero

"All corporations that make money are evil." sounds like the kind of thing michael moore would say.
apple makes money but i don't think its evil.
180K?!
if uve got that much cas$h, try grab a mastercard from first bank or Uba and preorder at a fraction of the cost.
as for me, i think $600 is like 80k max. thats what i'm gonna spend, or die trying.
pity these yahoo boys have spoiled naija image for us, now it's murder getting any merchant to ship to nigeria, angry

yes, neoteny's right about winning eleven. In any case, fifa is defn on the way, but naija is a world soccer loving country. I detest football games, anyway so i don't give a crap

like I said earlier, the wii is the only console im thinking of getting. I wont bother with ps3 or xbox360 until they are hacked to the extent that i can play pira games and dump iso's on the hard drives. Also, I don't plan on getting one of those ridiculously expensive hdtv's for another 5 years at least, so the extra graphical power of x360 and wii is wasted on me. I may borrow a console from friends, but buy? HAH!

@texas pete: alaba boys sold x360 for 150 grand. Do the math. your only hope for ps3 is yahooyahoo
Not quite! I could obtain a mastercard from my bank and then buy online, follow a convoluted shipping arrangement and finally get it into my eager paws. Oh Joy!!
the alaba boys will know their limits. how many ppl, even yahooyahoo will buy a console for 200K?

u know what's funny? there's a shop in benin that still has a solitary dreamcast on its shelf. it's been there for th epast 5 years. the price? 40k! I guess it'll be there till Jesus comes again,

besides, if its Lord of the rings 3 (return of the king) u need a 3d GPU to play it.
