and i still maintain, isn't it hypocrisy to agitate for the trial of George Bush for his 'war mongering' while failing to call for Obasanjo's trial for the Odi massacres and numerous atrocities committed by naija soldiers in ECOMOG?
Heck, have any of you even called for the trial of the police IG for the killings oF nigerians by 'accidental discharge'?

nilla:
your joining in insulting too. Also you need to go back and see who started insulting who.
good call, nilla. i stand corrected!
on the flip side, i've seen earlier posts where this txlonghorn character was labelled as an 'a*selicker' and a US lover desperately trying for a US visa. when it emerged the fellow had actualy become a US citizen more abuse was heaped on him for his choice.
I agree with some of your points, but we aren't just talking about governments here, but armed forces as a whole. and armed groups like Al Qaeda and Hezbollah have made it a point of duty to deliberately target unarmed cvillians. I think most of the uproar around the US is due to the very human emotion of trying dish dirt on anyone claiming to be virtuous.
The governments in power in palestine and iran have called repeatedly for the extermination of the jewish race (civillian and millitary). isn't that the official credo, then?

and yes, i also agree with you that it's cowardice to attack unarmed people. but in 99% of that happening from the US forces, it's been a tragic mistake, totally unplanned and punished by both a millitary tribunal or an increasingly vocal american media. On the othe rhand, group like Al Qaeda plan a 100% deliberate kill rate of civillians. Is it then fair to lump the US and Al Qaeda in the same group as 'terrorists'?
For that matter, do you really want to know how many civillians were killed by ecomog forces in sierra leone and liberia? why is no one calling for Obasanjo to be tried, after what he did to the villagers in Odi? isn' t it hypocrisy to salute one as your president and then call another who did the same thing 'a terrorist warmonger'?

Nice talking to you again, nilla. last time we discussed it was on the israel vs hezbollah thread, and that was a lot more heated than this.

This is off-topic, but i have a theory: have u noticed most of the great guys who used 2 hang about on this forum have gone? people like nutter, chxta et al? I think the incessant mudslinging and insults (and of course the frequent bans by the moderator) has caused this exodus. here's hoping stuff gets discussed without much heat,

in my reply, i know i've gone off-topic many times, sorry about that, but well they say no knowledge is wasted, grin

i'm a nigerian like most of y'all out here and i'm appalled at the amount of hatred spewing out of the mouths of most of you. read through all your posts, full of insults and abuses. easily forgetting that it's anyone's choice if he wants to go to any country of his choice or join the army anywhere he goes, y'all go all out accusing him of runnin gout on nigeria.
what, if i may ask, has any of you creeps done for nigeria recently? it's okay for you to jump around screeching that nigeria will be greater than the US, but what have you done for your country towards achieving that?

on my own part, i agree George Bush invaded iraq on a foundation of lies, but i still maintain that as long as the official US army creed is to minimize civillian casualties and penalize cases where civillians are deliberately targeted, calling the US or Bush 'terrorist' is a bit of a misnomer.
but that's my opinion, and i have a right as a living, sentient being to have an opinion. if you must dispute this or any other opinion, please for your sakes show that you still have at least the sense to make mature, intelligent conversation.

Christianity Etc › Re: Are Catholics Really Christians? by texazzpete(m): 6:20pm On Oct 26, 2006
To all those dissing the Catholic church, do you get any brownie points for this? I thought the bible said anyone who obeyed His commandments and loved his neighbour as himself was for Him? Why try to divide the church with fine lines?
If you need an audience for your bible quotes, numerous atheists and polytheists (is that word correct?) throng this forum and real life. Why shy away from a meaninful confrontation?
The painful thing is that most of these people work on hearsay, spouting half-truths that they heard from someone high on paraga. I'm a catholic and i was shocked when my roommate told me that "You Catholics worship Nimrod'. WTF? I didnt even know who Nimrod was, yet this fellow was damn sure of himself. probably his Pastor told him so. Despite strenous talk that we do not worship 'images' people still bring it up.
These same people blithely forget that following the logic of the Jehovah's Witnesses (which in itself is an advancement of their logic) we all are Idol woshippers for singing the National Anthem with our hands over our breasts. isn't it?

Tread carefully, lest you be seen as trying to divide the fabric of the church. Then your self-righteous actions will end up digging a fast route to damnation,

you're generalizing about these expats. many of them actually know their stuff and have years of experience.
the thing is, many of these companies pour millions of dollars in their companies in naija. if i was in their shoes and i needed staff to run the businesses, looking at the terrible state of the nigerian educational system, i might go for tried and tested. the truth is, many Nigerians have the skill but years of the crappy educational system here as well as stifling work environments have robbed many Nigerian workers of any spark of creativity.
besides, the salary difference, while much to you, will seem minimal to the company.
You didnt even read Hunter's post before criticizing it. tell me how can the statement 'because the skill sets aren't always available in Nigeria' be interpreted as sayign expatriates always have higher skill sets?

You guys complain that expats receive high salary. Why did none of you complain when Okonjo-iweala was being paid in dollars. Wasn't the reason given that she left a high paying job to come serve her fatherland? If you could accept this, stop this reverse racism and let every man do his thing.

My People , before now, iuse to think that the Niger Deltans are tooo unreasonable, some time last year i passed Warri on my way to Lagos , O my God, it's nothing to write home about, do u know that there is nothing like fertile land or even clean water , from a car , i saw that all the ground was covered with Black Oil. I mean this people can't farm, no water to drink. Still i didn't want to support their quest for resource sharing and fight against the Government , But i got off my senses when i got a job with an Oil servicing company. O my God , they call them experts , those white people , you can imagine, somebody doing the same job with you in the office is receiving your yearly salary as just a month salary, sincerely, my job collegue receives 6000 pounds(1.5m) per month , while i am paid about 130k per month , whyyyyyy my der nigerians , we own this oil, have you asked yourself , why they oyibo's has refused to retire to their country even after their brothers has been killed and abducted, instaed more of them are still coming over, This is a period of Neo colinialism, Let them go. If our government doesn't do anything about this soon. The Niger Deltans will continue to cause problem. Unless they start treating everybosy as an expert
They aren't called 'experts'. they are called 'expats', short for expatriates. You're a nigerian so in nigeria you'll never be an expatriate. simple english!
Strange you say 'all the ground' is covered in black oil. Perhaps a change of your sunglasses is in order?
If, as you claim, you worked in the oil sector, you'd know that the Oil and Gas business is a risky and capital intensive business. How many naijans can afford the millions of dollars needed to exploit and develop the oil? Even the ones that win marginal fields have to seek foreign partnership to develop them.
as to why the 'oyibos' are still here, if you had billions of dollars invested in a country, wouldnt you send staff that are known to be competent there?

The NNPC gets the lion's share of the oil revenue. yet all these millitants and malcontents are all too eager to blame the multinationals, simply because it's easy to play the race and colonialism card.
You say the Naija Delta communities should be compensated. apparently you think the N4bn given to Rivers state as part of the derivation is not enough. If even N2bn was used wisely, the people of Rivers should be swimming in enjoyment, enjoying good light and water.
At times you talk as if oil wells cover every square inch of the state. If you ask the youths to show you oil spillages, you'll find out that most of 'em were caused by youths sabotage or illegal bunkering. SPDC even had to change designs of Christmas Trees some time ago because the older ones could easily be sabotaged by the youths, who would then raise an outcry over pollution of their rich farmlands.
Recently a gas fire is raging in a shell location in Ogoni land. a preliminary investigation fingers sabotage as the cause, yet the local ogoni youths are crying about pollution and environmental damage, calling Friends Of The Earth and Greenpeace to witness shell's 'crimes'. while the fires raged on (and it's still burning till now) the youths refused SPDC access to the area, preventing them from fighting it earlier. to what end, i ask?

These guys are greedy. not content with the fact that 13% of the oil cash is an immense sum, they want 50%, citing the fact that the west used to get 50% of cocoa money. they conveniently forget that the western farmers tilled the land, planted the cocoa, weeded the area, watched the cocoa, provided fertilizers, lost huge sums to plant diseases and harvested the finished cocoa, processed it and delivered it for sale. A huge effort indeed. All these youths in the Niger Delta do nothing for the development of crude, from its formation in source rock to its migration, to its location. THEY HAVE NO INPUT! then you want to be on the same pedestal as those who worked tooth and nail to produce cocoa and groundnut?

13% is a huge amount. it's about N4bn monthly for rivers and delta states and slightly less for bayelsa. if these boys could just be a*rsed to tackle their corrupt and inept leaders, they'll be happy. blaming others for their self-engineered ineptitude is crap!

I told Owo and Ono, two south-south proponents that the best way to take control of the Oil and Gas industry is to send their kids to school. many of the ND engineering undergraduates who studied with me were extremely mediocre, confident that they could walk out with a 3rd class or pass and their communities would demand they get employment. Chxta can bear me out on this.

While the south-south demand compensation, they'd better prepare compensation packages for the families of those they've killed, for the trauma they've put innocent people through.

As the Zulus say, I have spoken. Those who have ears, let them hear.

These specs aren't even good enough. Forget about pentium 4 processors, they're old news. get a dual core processor cos many new games will support multithreading. My 1.83 Ghz core duo processor beats a p4 3.8Ghz processor. don't just get any 256Mb gfx card, go to www.ati.com and www.nvidia.com and check out their offerings, check reviews of any gfx card you want to buy so you can see what it can do in today's games.
get at least 100GB hard drive, make sure it's 7200rpm speed so you can have the fastest access time.
at least 1gb ram, try and go up to 2gb.
Not too sure what you need a pad for, when it comes to pc gaming. If you must, get one that looks exactly like a ps2 pad. if you have problems getting such a pad, PM me.
a normal 17inch CRT monitor will do just as fine, but u might splurge on a flat screen monitor (doesn't have to be samsung) for the coolness factor.

And then, only then, you will be forever unstoppable grin

PS: U should be able to get this set up for probably less than 120k if you buy overseas,

For your information i do know about ps2 emulators and if you took a look at my original post you'll see that i spelt it right, i'm so proud cool The problem is that the complexity (and 128-bit nature) of the PS2, means it's a bitch to emulate on a 32-bit (even 64-bit) PC. Just think how long it took for the Nintendo64 (64-bit) to get a decent emulator (Project64), The only PS2 emulators around play only demos and homebrewed stuff, and slowly at that. I've been in the emu biz since 2003 and i think i know my stuff, from your latest post i have drawn up an analysis that you know more about ps2 emulators than I but you continue to miss my initial point, wether its your habit of boasting or your complete incapability of reading a simple paragraph i don't know, i'll also add that the reason the visualboy emu is the best around is not because of its simplicity but because of its many features and i shall repeat for the on hundreth time, i woul like if they would consider taking up the roll of mastering a ps2 emu with such features don't be hating --------peace--------- cool
