u cant get infected with the caribe virus on a sony erricsson. it only works on symbian series 60 phones |
surprised many of y'all still buy 'crippled' phones! any fone that doesnt run an Operatin System of some sort (symbian or Wm) has to be kinda, crippled. that said, i got an o2 xda IImini pocket pc phone. best thing i ever did was getting this bad boy, and my 6630 has since been relegated to the cupboard. check it out

i'm a nintendo fanboy all the way, but i'm gonna get a ps3 juist cos of Pro evo soccer. finito! Neoteny:not true. the ps3 isnt twice as powerful as the 360. it has better paper specs in some areas, true, but that doesnt always transmit into a good gaming experience. Also, e3 has shown that there isnt any difference int he graphical quality btw the ps3 and the 360. correct me if im wrong. The ps3 cant be called the most powerful home computer on the market cos many full fetured gaming pcs have more power. y'all drooling over the ps3 have gotta consider the price, $600. if a $120 ps2 still sells for 25k + in naija (years after its release) how much do u think a ps3 will go for? prolly about 120k (very conservative estimate). on the other hand, perhaps thats a reason 4 me 2 get a mastercard from first bank after all, |
APU:havent u been following the discussion? ps2 emulation only gets up to barely playable speeds on 'monster' pcs. its not really a worthwhile path to follow right now. however, if u insist u cn try, just dont say u weren't warned! ppl are really leery of posting links to the actual ps2 bios cos its frankly illegal. try searching for it with google. ![]() |
i could murder u just for that ATI card ![]() my laptop runs ut2004, but not at a framerate i'd prefer to carry over to online play. it jerks too much! hopefully when ive settled a few other things i'll turn to getting the dream gaming rig i always wanted. even if i ld run the latest games sef, not too sure i would. just heard that call of duty 2 takes over 10Gb hdd space. ut2004 takes up a whopping 4gig + already. if ur into pc games, try The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher bay. that game is da bomb. Doesn't play on my laptop though, at least i can run halo, ![]() |
dakmanzero, thanx for the heads up! didnt know directX had such a limiting effect, but basically i think MS were interested in porting over many pc hits to the xbox, and since most of them were done with directX, porting to the xbox was supposed to be easier than rewriting from scratch. Prolly helped them get doom3 and half life 2 on the box, here's a surreal64 compatibility list. its a bit old sha, but u get the general idea, http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=260140 BTW, ps2 emulation does work, since a version of the emu has been released that allows u 2 play many commercial games. but it might as well not be working, cos u need a monster of a pc to even get up to 20FPS in game. we're talking about 3.7GHZ, the latest geforce or Ati card and 1gb ram minimum to get barely playable framerates. and thats in old games like Street fighter ex3. All these naijans with p3 800Mhz machines can stop right there ![]() dunno why ppl want a ps2 emulator thoough. the experience on a pc will never match that of a ps2. when i was into ps1 emulation, that was in the 90s and i was too broke to buy a ps1, now there's more cash floating around the world, and ps2s can be gotten on the cheap (used) for like 18k. people with reasonably powerful mnachines micht want 2 check oout dreamcast emulation. at least DC games were quite cool too, almost ps2 quality graphics wise. Google 'Chankast' and thou shalt find! its easier to download dreamcast games, anyway, dakmanzero, whats d specs of ur PC? my laptop isnt too hot for gaming (can run halo1 and Unreal tournament 2004 sha) so i need 2 get a gaming desktop ASAP. Also, the ps3 will be out in november for $600. what do ya think? |
zelda 64 didnt really give me a problem, used it on my old p3 1.13ghz machine. managed to scrape together cash for one wek 32mb ati graphics card. you'll always get better performance with a gfx card. yeah, the xbox has a 700 MHz chip, but dont forget that unlike a pc, it doesnt have to allocate cpu power to run an Operating system. thus its far far more efficient that an equivalent pc for gaming purposes. also the xbox has an advanced Geforce 3 graphics card, so it can do some serious stuff. N64 emulation on the xbox isnt perfect, but most games are perfectly playable. Even conker! havent tried Jet force gemini or perfect dark, but u'd do well to search google for "Surreal64 compatibility list" on the flipside, just noticed im using too many abbreviations in my words. I blame txt mssging 4 dat!! ![]() |
not possible. will never be possible!! however u can run stuff like games off ur memstick |
just wondering, this is really an excellent forum/site. why are most of my posts game related? and there i was thinking i'd grown up, ![]() I LOVE ![]() |
yeah, playing picodrive with just 3 button support was a serious drag! like u, i wanted to play umk3 badly, but the 3 button arrangement rendered it pretty much unplayable. n64 emulation is way more aadvanced on the pc than u think! hope u aint still thinkin gof UltraHLE? go to http://www.pj64.net and download Project64, by far the best n64 emu. if uve got a decent pc, u can play even large roms like conker's bad fur day practically perfect. i finished zelda ocarina of time (the best game ever!) on the pc. conker comes a close second sha. as for xbox n64 emulator, its totally real, emulationis near perfect for very many commercial games. game like mk trilogy, zelda, mario, starfox, ridge racer and lots of others are perfectly playable. the name of the best n64 xbox emu is Surreal 64. its a combination of 3 n64 emus rolled in one, making it very compatibl with most commercial games. if u can use IRC, try getting on to Xbins on EFnet. an excellent step by step guide can be found here http://www.xbox100.com/tutorials/SoftwareGuide/SoftwareGuide.html xbins is probably the only way u'll get most of the xbox cool apps cos most websites are leery of hosting them on their sites (the long hand of Micro$oft). happy to see other naijans are interested in the 'scene'. your profile says ure in lag. im not based there, but there's a guy in surulere who i give stuff to that 'upgrades' xboxes with xbmc, ftp apps, dvd and vcd copiers/players and yes, the n64 emu. he does it for a fee, but pm me and ill get him to do it 4 u gratis. |
yeah, i've installed xbmc and xbmp. n64 emus do exist for xbox. also snes, genesis, arcade, nes, etc. any modchip u get for ur xbox should allow u ftp access, provided u have a pc and u know d basics of networking. chipping it in alaba is a surefure way to get this done. there's an exploit allowing u to run apps and emus and copied games from ur xbox without using a chip, but u need a copy of 007: agent under fire or splinter cell 1 (Original copies) to run it, and it's not really encouraged by the alaba crew. pm me and i'll c what i cn do 4 u. long since sold my 6630, but when i had it, vsun worked with little or no problems. how come u needed 2 reflash? havent really heard of that being common so prolly its a one-off case. anyway, snes emu on series 60 phones is pretty much a dead end, sha. try the genesis one instead, at least it runs full-speed, full-screen. |
just been reading thru this forum, so many of the questions u guys asked could have been easily solved with a little googling. been in th emu scene for years now, have installed SNES, Genesis, PS1 and Arcade emus for xbox and dreamcast consoles, run snes games from nokia 6600 & 6630 fones , flipped xbox hdds, installed evox and linux on xbox hdds (first in naija!) and i can give u this advice; Forums are the key! check forums online for tips and guides. easiest way to get info from the net. try see if u can get access to newsgroups. ive used easynews.com in the past and i really dopwnloaded lots of stuff off there. check out http://www.ngemu.com -- for general emu news also ive gotten lots of stuff from yahoo groups. you'd be surprised d amount of stuff u can get from yahoo groups. for instance, if ure looking for GBA roms, u can run a search for groups with GBA as a search item. invariably, ure gonna stumble on one or two (or many) with a downloads section. anyone need help, pm me |
sure u can! go to http://www.stationiso.us.tt/ and u cn download games in iso format. burn them with alcohol 120% (search google for that!) and u can get them runin on ur machine. But WTF?! PS1 games are selling for N200 in the open market now. either uve got 10Mbps broadband and a stack of cds in ur house, or ure just plain, weird ![]() anyway, hope this came in handy, just started using a PS1 emualtor for pocket pc devices. still a bit of a trip running ps games from my fone, |
35K as in 35 thousand naira. where will ya get a psp for 3,500? work's proghressing nicely on an n64 emu for psp. i can barely wait, ! still gives a thrill when i whipout my psp in a bus and start playing ps2 quality winning eleven 9! |
Played medal of honor: allied assault, unreal tournament 2004, i'm playing Halo right now, playing call of duty. The best of 'em all : the chronicles of riddick: escape from butcher bay |
what are y'all yammering about? the game got abysmal reviews in most gaming websites, ! |
congrats if ur system can play FEAR well. as for me, the thing dey struggle. |
90k for a psp is pure theft. i bought mine 30k some months back, and i heard its standard at 35K. i've long since downgraded to firmware 1.5, installed a SNES and megadrive emulator, play pirated games from the memory stick (currently playing winning eleven 9!!!). I've got quake 1 & 2 running on it. i really recommend burnout: legends for anyone out there, cos its a stunning game. someone asked me 2 swap it all for an xbox 360. still trying 2 decide if thats a good deal. what d'ya think? |
splendid reply, too much passion, too little logic. im Nigerian. 'nuff said about that! i didnt call Achebe my hero. All i said was he's an accomplished and world reknowned writer. Pray to go near soyinka's record? he's a genius in his own right!! look, im not dissing here. and yes, i dont have and will probably never have a nobel prize. who cares? please, tell me how soyinka has reinvented the english language. By adding a few words? by endless verbosity anf foggy writing? how many words has he added to the english dictionary and how pervasive and popular are the words? Crap!! I am not a poet or playwright. Im not soyinka but unlike you im someone who's relatively young with the future before me. its possible I may save the world. you never know. I dont blindly hero worship like u. The works of shakespeare are not difficult to read and understand. and he did far far better than ur precious hero without alienating a section of literate people. why should nay rational human being be proud that his writings confound all but the most determined people? Inventor? that's called pioneering, man. you dont 'invent' a corps so you can take that feather out of his cap ASAP. by the way: Nobel prizes aren't the benchmark. touching lives is. why dont u set your target at that. finally, yeah i aint got no nobel prize. but i got something many many past winners would dearly love to have. YOUTH I love logical arguments. Bring it on!! PS: I apologize if you found that dope crack offensive.i was aiming at humor. obviously i failed. Mayhap your soyinka can teach me english? |
omon:Yeah. Not all Hollywood movies are good. but thats not for lack of trying. Many are good and the good one redeem! Nollywood has by far the most BAD. I spit in their face cos they do not wnat to improve. ask me why wioth all the money that has been made since the industry took off in naija it's the same level of special effects they used in 'Nneka the pretty serpent' that is still in use now. as in they can't go out to study. becasue of people liek you who swallow their tripe without complaint they are emboldened further to make such crap. you say the industry is improving? when did this habit of releasing 3 parts of a movie simulaneously begin. is it not recently? when did the corny names like 'Abuja Big Boys' and 'Osama Bin La' start? is itnot recently (a few years ago). don't glorify crap. condemn. then learning takes place by fire. it benefits us allif our industry improves and people who keep gulping down this milksop encourage the rot in the long run. I'm not surprised black africans like naija films. it appeals to the unenlightened. ![]() |
Chinua Achebe writes for kids? I'm surprised at how the fact that they can soldier through Soyinka's books make people feel they have stratospheric IQs. you have to wonder, doesnt the fact that Achebe's novels are more accessible make him a better choice for people worldwide? why write for only a select few? so you can pat yourself on the back and call yourself a hero? a genius? as for the comment on the nobel prize, that was the most brainless thing ive seen all day. Did their books come out in the same year? did they go up against each other? Tupac never won a grammy. that means he's one of the worst rappers of all time, right? pleae, be proud that they are both Nigerians and good at what they do. Achebe couldnt have written soyinka's books if he tried. and Soyinka couldnt have come up with Things Fall Apart in a million years. Writes for little children? When your kids are three to 5 years old, please give them Arrow of God and Things Fall Apart to read, okay? Dunno what you've been smoking, mate, but roll me some too! ![]() |
I've seen many variants of this argument and im always surprised at the brainless arguments you guys put forward for the home video industry. The home Video Industry in Nigeria is NOT in its infancy. That passed eons ago. Do we need to reinvent the wheel? does technology and budget have anythign to do with a decent storyline? or quality acting? the truth is, as long as these people continue over-exaggerating emotions, stealing stories from Hints and mill and Boon novels, adopting contrived accents and making multiple part home videos rational, thinking, EDUCATED people will always find fault with it. Last week, i got back home at night and i saw my parents watching a home video on TV, which they rarely hav ethe time to do. they were following the story with keen interest. i didnt have the heart to tell them that th film wouldnt end, that the movie would be stretched into 2 or more parts. i was hoping to be proved wrong. I was right. I will never forget the look on my mum's face when at the most interesting (or least uninteresting from my POV) part of the movie it said "watch out for Part 2". i could shoot someone for that. i mean, why would anyone who's gone through higher education watch a movie titled "Sharon Stone" or "osama bin la"? weird ![]() |
some of the comments you guys make really amazesme. here we have thieves who steal nigeria blind and all u can spout is crap about our image. when last did you breakfast on pride? is that what u eat? money that can be better spent developing our country is being stolen, and its the same cautious approach some of you are suggestign that has failed dismally to check this. stiffer penalties, more public humiliation etc is what is needed. the whole world sees Nigeria as fulkl of crooks. at least, let us be seen as TRYING to stamp out corruption. that will help us better than trying to paper up the cracks. simple |
It's a crying shame these IYC people can only spout their conspiracy theory crap. The man is clearly a thief and should be made to pay for his actions. I really don't care if he's 'just recovering from surgery'. Less privileged thieves have been hung or shot for lesser offences. The IYC people should learn to actually WORK like the rest of us do, instead of raising hell over nothing. If they choose to stand by a thief, then they too must be criminals! |
