Exactly! Isn't it ironic that descendants of former slaves and victims of systematic oppression and dehumanisation are those that oppose the freedom of homosexual minority the most? It's not even like they're asking for something super like rights to work, vote or gain access to equal opportunities. They just say 'Mind your business and face front' what they do in their privacy as consenting adults is of no harm or consequence to the next person. Yet, the laws declared it criminal to the point of a long jail term ![]() pafo: |
Someone like Messi is too exposed and loved to be racist. It's usually the 'afonja' and 'Igbo' type lowlife equivalents in those countries that are racist. Education broadens horizon of people who don't have the luxury to travel the world to see beyond their environment and prejudices. Tribalism and ethnocentrism are indicators of a parochial worldview of uneducated idîots. Emilokoiyawon: |
Africa itself is just a geographical description of politically defined countries between oceans. People, on the other hand, are united by tribes and cultures and to a degree race. Religion used to be cultural until the invasive and conquerous Abrahamic religions were birthed. As a black african, I'd never thought an Arab was like me/us and I didn't have to read any history books. Sometimes, the political sections called countries divides a people. For example, Fulanis are in Nigeria, Niger, even Ghana but they remain Fulani. It is only natural they relate more and better with their tribesmen who understands and speaks their language and are also of the same culture, than a country or continent man. Likewise, Ibibios are in Nigeria and now in Cameroon in the ceded Bakassi region. What I'm driving at is that an Arab would consider another Arab as their brothers/sisters before anyone else irrespective of geographical location. The unusual yet amusing thing about thing all these is Islam and the black people and Christianity to a lesser degree. It's funny how because of religion and gods of oppressors who took black as slaves (Yes, Arabs kept black slaves, even Islam doesn't regard blacks in high esteem) an Hausa muslim fanatic would be willing to slaughter another Hausa Christian - that looks just like him and subject to identical discriminatory experiences in 'holy' Arab countries - because of a caricature of their prophet in a distant land Wake me up when an Arab muslim would kill another Arab infidel because of a nigger-muslim.History and Science needs to be enforced in our schools. A total overhaul of our education system is required honestly. quinSonia: |
Such a simpleton you are, how many people can 'get money' as you put it if a system is designed to annihilate a race of people and whose money are they getting? It's usually broke unintelligent people that speak as you did. I'm sure you think money is everything, so answer this little question: How many people have money in the world today, and how many are black? So then what do we do with the billions that don't have and would never have? Think along those lines, then you just might discover the thinking behind genocides, ethnic cleansing, systemic oppression and slavery. nuggarito: |
Latin American countries have it rough for black people. The order is White/Caucasian, White skinned, Mulatto (black-white hybrid) then any other creature with a lighter skin before Blacks. The darker the skin colour, the lower you human value, even in Brazil. Just like how almost everyone in Nigeria not politically connected or bothers with politics wants to leave the country or at least save their offsprings from Nigeria woes by giving birth the them abroad, Dark (Mulattoes don't identify as blacks - different from the US where mixed people would like to be identified as black) Black Brazilians also think the best option for their kids is to born by a white person...and trust with that mentality, good luck finding a white person to cross with...so they go with Indians or some other lower economic valued light skinned person. There is also discrimination among mulattoes and blacks and even within blacks based on shades of black. It's nauseating and even scary to imagine the extremes as a black person. The countries Nigerians are so eager to run to fought for their freedoms especially black freedoms and it wasn't cheap. Our ancestors sold off the ancestors of the civil rights activists as slaves that paid the high price while we shít in ours and run to US or Canada or UK pretty much the most welcoming places to be a black minority in the world. It is easier to take part in politics and the process in Nigeria to sanitise it gradually than to climb the economic ladder in those western countries as a BLACK PERSON (shades matter). |
give it time. Focus on other things. |
Women are the most cruel towards children that aren't theirs. Talking from experience. I would never understand why women are put on pedestals in society for being good mothers Who's gonna take care of your kids before? When good is being measured by what one does for people they have no ties to, wake me up if you find a decent amount of women. |

nwabekeyi:Sorry for striking you out but there's a world of difference between mammals and humans even though humans are mammals. Bats, dolphins, whales, dogs etc are also mammals. My question: Can evolution be induced by say genetic engineering or does it have to occur naturally? You mentioned introduction of specific genes from plasmids into DNA or something like that. So, can controlled mutation like that lead to a new breed of organism? What do you think of cloning and designing and growing 'superhumans' from scratch, possible or futuristic? ignore the ethical barriers |
SoundLock:Please provide such evidence |
Actually, No. Humans never evolved from Neanderthals and this is a widely accepted notion in the scientific community. There are (were) two dominant theories on how the Neanderthals became extinct, however recent DNA studies (fraction of Neanderthal DNA in Asians, Europeans etc but not in Africans) give credence to the interbreeding theory. That's by the way, evolution is sort of like a description of the history of species with regard to relationships between common ancestors. I think it is therefore erroneous to say humans evolved from Neanderthals, rather, modern man and Neanderthals share(d) a common ancestor. Much to be learned here, good explanations you've provided, I like when you go down to the molecular when you elaborate. I am by no means an expert in the subject or a biologist, however, if there is one thing that I strongly disagree with, is you saying 'evolution is creation' probably in a different language. I wouldn't indulge religious looneys looking for gaps in scientific theories simply to give credence to their favorite book of imaginary friends and talking donkeys. How many more passes should these ancient mythological texts in trying to explain anything? From the universe moving round the earth to the world created in six days? Religion might serve its multiplicities of benign purposes but explaining reality is where it fails and has always failed since inception, and where it hasn't, you certainly find ignorance. nwabekeyi: |
You don't have to be stupīd to get noticed. Since you know it all and have no questions, keep shut and move to the next thread or are you that petulant narcissist that thinks nairaland and its topics are all about you? spartan117: |
Really? Then he must have been very young as a Governor |
I really like this. If only there were churches that routinely describe biblical stories allegorically like you have, for meaningful life endeavours, one wouldn't be so critical. Very useful stuff JohnspeakU. I would like to read more of your thoughts. |
Before you talk about creation from your book of talking snakes and donkeys, have you understood homosexuality? have you examined the book where you draw your morals from? (Isn't it the same book where god asks a man to sacrifice his son or lot offers his children to rapists or god commands children to be killed because of their father's undoing) Ignorance is no excuse boy, it's 2018. You have a smartphone and the internet. Opinionated people such as yourself are usually the most ignorant. Traditionally, homosexuality is frowned upon, so was having twins, once upon a time. Albinos are still being maimed in Tanzania and widows are still being forced to drink water used to wash deceased husband's corpses, are these also moral? Seems you are obsessed about where other adults choose to insert their genitals and if that is so, you really need to take a deep look at yourself to check if you are alright mentally. Your good book isn't good at all, I'd advise you read it in its entirety, and drawing your good and bad from ancient jewish mythological texts just gives you off as unintelligent and unexposed (didn't you claim you have travelled wide?) smeag0l: |
Don't all these schools have alumni? If it's to give to church, Nigerians would give their last penny. They should raise funds from alumni if the government is not responding. |
darkchild64:On the one hand, you say if you were gay, you wouldn't give a shït on how you are perceived by others, and on the other say Bobrisky has negative lifestyle and doing more harm to public perception of gays, not in your opinion, but obvious reasons. Now the problem is that u think I dislike bobrisky because he is a cross dresser, bro u should read all my comments on nairaland and u would see that I do not care how a person chooses to live his or her life, why I brought bobrisky up is not because I am trying to condemn his lifestyle, one thing u can't deny is the fact that when people often talk of gay people they use bobrisky as a standard and because obviously they detest bobrisky they feel that gay people are like him and condemn them in the same way,Your comments clearly expressed condemnation, however subtle. The thing I was trying to highlight to you from your earlier comment was that you kind of endorsed Bobrisky on one hand (you wouldn't give a shït if you were gay) and then condemned him in the end. We cannot control public perception, as much as we would want to. You don't have to be a philanthropist to be liked for your sexuality or help public perception of people of same sexuality, who would want to carry such a burden? it would be different if you have a gay person contributing in a different way to the Nigerian society, let's say maybe in sports,Nigeria's best sprinter is gay,or in business, maybe one of the richest men or philanthropists in Nigeria is gay it would proof to people that homosexuality is not a basis to judge a person, homosexuals can also be useful to the society.I understand what you mean, just wanted to highlight the contradiction in your comment. I only knew about Bobrisky because my younger sister finds him/her funny. Really, not a big deal. |
Still condescending towards Bobrisky. Like I asked, is Bobrisky violating your rights? The dude is quite popular and if you don't like him/her, why didn't you take your advice in the post I quoted, move on. Gay people can do as they choose, not according to your prejudices before they are accepted by you. Read your post again and what I highlighted. If you don't still get it, fine. Not that serious anyway. darkchild64: |
I sort of agree with the point of your original post that no one should marry another if they are not the sexual preference but don't you think it's silly to be basing your 'morality' on religious texts? Have you even read those books to know the immoral and senseless killings by god and his prophets in your holy book? Why don't you first learn about homosexuality, learn the history and actually what's in your bible then see the unjust and discriminatory law in Nigeria against homosexuals. Hope you won't go beat up the demon out of your sibling if you find that they are homosexual. The discriminatory law is what, by and large, caused your friends to end up in such marriages and trust, nobody's opening up to you about their sexuality with your religious dogmatic demeanor. Another thing, FYI homosexuality has been observed in animals and it's no longer news. You have a smartphone and an internet, use it. Check Quora to see how it is to be homosexual before you kill them because of a book of talking snakes and donkeys and moon splitting. smeag0l: |
and you capped it all by being the homophobic hypocrite is Bobrisky violating your rights?darkchild64: |
When they tell you stories of how the colonialists saved your ancestors from the wrath of the jewish god and his son Jesus, I'm sure you thank them for it. Read what you wrote here again, digest then think about the 'favor' Nike is doing that Nigerians can't do for their people and national team Ridiculousadedayoa2: |
if the world cup was held in nigeria and nigeria was playing, how many nigerians in the stadium would have original jerseys on? I'm surprised nigerians don't see that as a problem it's sad that most nigerians like the team and support them, but can't afford the even the jersey replicas, does that even make any sense? True supporters of the national team are being disenfranchised by these foreign sport giants. Nike has no blame here, they are all for business ... The NFF people like most of the politicians running national institutions do for greed, what and how much of the $2m they would get. Sad sad |
Shut up if you don't have anything meaningful to say. There are specifications require for international jerseys. These jerseys are supposed to be produced in Nigeria where the majority of the team supporters are. The ones produced by Nike are unaffordable by most of the nations supporters and you are here talking bullocks. If the jerseys were 5k made in Nigeria, how many fakes would you find and how many orders would we get as the team progresses in the world cup? how many people would be employed? Nairaland give you job na why you dey post rubbish think say you understand economics pass Ben Bruce, a successful multi-sector investor in Nigeria Mynd44: |
Exactly his point. Would the truck not hit him after screaming Jesus? alBHAGDADI: |
Same statement schizophrenics make to prove they are not crazy. How did you come about that? How do you separate religion from God? Let's face our reality in Nigeria, Religion (all based on this God you know is real) is the major cause of avoidable deaths in the country. Stop being an enabler as it's convenient for you to say 'God is real' because you are not the victim. masada: |
watch how the religious would blame the victim. How is this different from the foolishness of sowing seed or paying tithes? This Jesus delusion has ruined many lives and continue to do so in Nigeria. Yeah right, the man had no faith, or he was foolish to listen to the pastor or God knows best. You wonder why scientists make an effort to discover drugs if Jesus can heal them ![]() |
