Don't be annoyed please, I'm a noob on these things, how do I send an email to them? can't find any email address on the portal. Also, how long did it take for yours to be changed to Abj? kuljiyke: |
my ds-160 form has Lagos on it, won't that be a problem? kuljiyke: |
Please guys, this is urgent. I was just about to book an appointment in Lagos for a B1/B2 visa and to my surprise I'm finding that the earliest appointment is August 14 shocked I haven't paid the $160 yet but is there anyway I can get earlier dates? If I proceed with the payment would it automatically accept August 14 and onward dates? * I have a DS-160 confirmation number already with Lagos as preferred post. |

I know scholastica16 has earned legendary status here as a prime contributor to this thread but if we are being honest, he started with the low blows and continued with the insults. Am I surprised that nobody called him out on repeated use of abrasive words, or even editing someone else's comment to one that is insulting? Not in the slightest or are we not nigerians again? We should argue to learn, not to win. There is no shame in not having all the information on a subject. Let us drop the ego, it doesn't help anybody. Bracelum gave a very fine and elaborate answer to the question and I'm sure the OP is properly guided. By the way, there is seldom anyone that would ask for GMAT that, in its absence, wouldn't ask for the GRE or wouldn't state a preference for one over the other. Prior to the reposted comment by CuteRedd, a lot of us didn't know that these high-blood-pressure tests could still come again to haunt God's children, but it is well. Take the tests and pass it very well (note to self) @rozay111 @neahyo we need pacifiers not more warriors. Besides, you don't want none with Bracelum ![]() |
A critical history and historiography of bracelum shows that he's a juggernaut on every table smashing every since Lord Luggard. He must win or no way it's going to end na who get strength and data fit follow am argue Moral of the story, GRE or/and GMAT pass very well. I call on the belligerent interlocutors to Yield Don't people take the subject GRE? I hardly see any comments about it here. |
user4321:These are very good scores by any standard. If you feel like you can do better go for it, if not it's alright. You should mix your choice schools a bit, add more 'safe' schools if you can afford the extra fees to avoid stories that touch, if you've read on this thread about the first class-highest-departmental-GPA-ever guy who got into Tufts uni, you'd get the drift. Since you're gunning for a PhD, you should know that many accepted international students have masters degrees with additional research experience + publications. Look up linkedin for profiles of accepted international PhD students at your choice universities to spot the pattern. Overall great scores, good luck and hope you get in. |

Thanks a lot I think the second option appears workable for me as I would be relocating later this year and likely won't be around to begin and follow through my PR from here. Thanks again. Jennypharb1: |
Hi guys! You guys are doing great work here. My fiancée is in the process of acquiring a PR in Canada from her family ties ie. Her siblings are PRs. She is currently in Canada with her family on a visitor visa and would remain there until she gets it. I would like to know whether it is possible for me to also get a Canadian PR after we get married or what is the procedure and what are my options being that I am in Nigeria? @joo2018 @CanadasGOAT |
I asked because I have always wondered if someone can be 'converted' in sexual orientation or influenced because personally I'm repulsed by male gay sex and notions of romance as long as I can remember, in direct contrast with what sexual attraction is from my point of view. That said, I'm straight, always have been from my recollection. As a kid, I fantasised about pretty girl classmates even from nursery school (about 5 years old then), kissed a few too and I don't think they made me do anything I found repulsive, rather I enjoyed it save for the internal struggles with the religious and societal perspectives on such activities – the 'sin' aspect. Your experience is quite interesting because I've never thought teenagers or even children are or could become asexual. Everyone around me – and I lived in a large estate in an era when children go out to play and TV stations don't start until evening time – was having something going on – either a crush or real stuff or being jealous about someone else's escapades. Anyway, thanks for sharing and I hope you stay safe from the bigoted barbarians in the country that are always ready to lynch people who are different. Let's be more tolerant towards our differences ![]() Philomathhh: |
Out of curiosity, would you say you being gay was a choice or perhaps due to environmental influences ie. because you've only been approached by guys prior to having sex? Also, if you would be okay to share your childhood, pre-puberty/puberty experience in regard to sexuality. For instance, when you had wet dreams from puberty, were your fantasies about men or women or both or did you even have any at all? Philomathhh: |
It seems you misunderstood what I posted earlier. Further reading of comments from this thread made me understand that, from your admittance, you do not know how the universe came about, neither do you know of 'the process(es)' from which it came about. How then did you become an atheist, what informed your decision, moreso if you came from a religious background? The gist of my earlier post is that you make suppositions with a certainty that is similar to religious fundamentalists that say 'there is (a) god' Confirmed scientific theories are never wrong since they are based on observations, they may only be upgraded or superceded by a better one in the event of new observations. You display an ignorance of the history of science. Chemistry had it foundations on alchemy. Theories are superceded, some become obsolete and some eventually turn out to be wrong. A simple internet search would reveal that. I don't believe in arguing for argument sake and I find many atheists reason that way. I would rather learn than win an argument. Your original post reads like you are certain that there is no god, no afterlife, no 'supernatural' abilities even when you do not even know anything about the universe and the processes that led to its existence. It makes one think that you do this only to annoy the religious folks since you do not have any basis for your somewhat extreme positions. I am not religious btw, neither do I believe in any god because I do not see anything in my existence and learning that shows that there is one. My position is based on something, mainly science and personal experience, but science itself is prone to changes. Why I insist that one cannot be stand on science and speak like a zealot. Also, one cannot be an atheist – ala THERE IS NO GOD – in the literal sense because being that also requires evidence to show that there isn't a god, which everyone knows has not been proven. Those who then outrightly dismiss completely any possibility of a god/beign/intelligence is no different from a god believer. https://www.famousscientists.org/10-most-famous-scientific-theories-that-were-later-debunked/ https://www.toptenz.net/top-10-most-famous-scientific-theories-that-turned-out-to-be-wrong.php Martinez39: |
Brilliant analogy, although I would rather a 99:1 % odds at sea because god isn't anywhere close to 10% efficient. But, would you go on to believe in something that you know for certain isn't true? If Yes, how would such belief lead to any assurance of a better future? That would be like forced self-imposed delusion. I agree hopelessness isn't cool neither are many truths comforting. Nihilism is the only logical conclusion of biological existence. Life has no inherent meaning – critical examination scientific and religious POVs reveal this – except that which one decides to; and meaning/purpose can be achieved without believing in superstitions and ancient myths. Some people care about what is true, even if it hurts. Pessimism isn't skepticism and neither is it nihilism by the way. Religious people can be pessimists, in fact most, if not all end-time believers are some of the worsts pessimists there are, with their frequent apocalyptic visions and rapture episodes. The thing about enlightenment is that one cannot go back. One cannot continue to believe Santa Claus would drop gifts after knowing the truth, likewise religion or personal gods. I like this quote because knowledge of reality isn't all fun and roses, to know the extent of suffering that exists in the world and how insignificant humans are in the universe is, quite frankly, depressing. "Sorrow is knowledge, those that know the most must mourn the deepest, the tree of knowledge is not the tree of life" Amakavula: |
@martinez39 Interesting post. Personally, I think Nigeria as a country would change dramatically to a very productive nation if majority of the people have these principles as foundations in their culture and traditions. However, this reads as one written with a high degree of certainty that one – not excluding atheists and nihilists – cannot help but question how you arrived at some of your suppositions. 1) THERE IS NO GOD AND YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN :Other than making the exact opposite claim of religious fundamentalists about God, I do not fault your explanation. You cannot prove that there isn't a god (god would have to be defined; and it is, as you know, a fruitless hyperloop argument) 2) THERE IS NO AFTERLIFE :The message is apt. Live life, focus on what is ... but again, you cannot prove that there is no afterlife, so you especially – as one who supposedly arrive at positions with logic – cannot also make such claims. Don't know if you've come across 'NDERF' ... it may not disprove or prove anything but I'm inclined that you may find it interesting. 14) EVERYTHING IS PHYSICAL, NOTHING IS SPIRITUAL :Suppositions of dogmatic certainty is antithetical to logic. People develop special abilities and strengths – some stronger, faster, super brains etc. The term 'supernatural' may just be semantics for an outlier ability resulting from evolution, genes or and even accidents. There are and have existed geniuses and phenomenal savants throughout history. 'Spirituality' and 'spiritual' on the other hand, are somewhat ambiguous and relative depending on whom one might be talking to. People who meditate for their well-being might refer to such as spirituality while other who babble in glossolalia would also say such is an aspect of spirituality. Throw superstitions away, perhaps? YES! by all means. No really knowledgeable person speaks with utmost certainty like the religious folks because the more one learns, the more one's ignorance is revealed and the more one realizes that they know nothing. There are a good number of unexplained phenomena – call it mysteries – and theories for what is known in science that would be obsolete, if not outright wrong in the future. So, we really cannot be so sure. |
you mean the contest is about who can read vs who cannot? ![]() Clapbackdon: |
The irony is that truly intelligent people don't take photos such as these My days! Harvard ni Harvard ko.Nairaland has descended greatly (maybe the front page) from a forum for life and career transforming information to one where non-entities, nincompoops and trolls get famous. I got foreign scholarships, met friends and visa guidelines even transcript and foreign jobs through information and people on old nairaland. Now it just seems you become stupid everytime you visit, it's either a snake is being killed and eaten or tonto dikeh sneezes or rumours from these prostitutes fronting as actresses or usual Friday stüpidity from Islamic threads. A lot of us oldheads don't visit linda ikeji or other amebo websites because there is nothing for progressives on there but now NL front page is just gossip and stupidity like 'charlies boys lesbian daughter ...' I'm sure good contributors have been frustrated out that their topics don't make the front page and nairaland used to have rules on spelling and ... Man! na to just deregister las-las. I'll continue reading foreign tabloids that would at least improve my vocabulary and grammar. |

Silly set of nitwits. You people should not disturb the US with your feral behaviors. Something as rudimentary as an election that so much money os spent on, you can't conduct. Fayose, when he behaved like an uncivilised nincompoop in 2014 and hours preceding the elections, he was too blockheaded to imitate 'international community' best practices but now that he lost, he cries foul and you losers over there in the land of opportunity and dream-chasing and achievement are being nuisances. Return to Nigeria and fight for your cause, if you care much about the country. Let's see if the minimum wage and human rights that enable you guys to do so over there exist in Nigeria or the animal they are protesting for permits such himself. Fôols! Nigeria is an embarrassment in the committee of nations. Other than music and movies, which has unfortunately has minimal societal value, it's just another animal farm. Everybody takes what they can and leave the mess for others to find what they can out of it and in-turn leaving even more mess. What a demoralising and seemingly hopeless cycle. |
and the so called leaders are borrowing funds and stealing the future of their people to live in a fool's paradise in their colonial masters' lands. Out of all the groups of people, only black africans today do not behave any differently from their ancestors. The fact that we still cherish and hold on to many of these barbaric traditions and yet feign democracy is just nauseating. AnanseK: |
Keep shut! and next time don't quote the whole article. If you could read, you would've seen where the author mentioned " after slavery was abolished ..." and elaborately described her family and tribe's participation in the whole ordeal. ![]() musicwriter: |

That's all you've been yammering about. To paraphrase you: "Nigerians don't pay high taxes, therefore people heading institutions in the country should 'flex' until the people are ready to pay high taxes" If you cannot allude this as what you've been commenting all along then forgive me for not helping your comprehension skills. From your comments, I can you almost deduce that you do not own or run any legitimate business in Nigeria to talk about taxes and levies and how much more you would like the government to increase them. Is it high taxes that make over 75% of Nigerian annual budget to be recurrent expenditure and the national assembly consuming as much as 30%? How much has Nigeria accrued from oil trade over the years and what exactly is the one sector or public institution thing you can lay a finger on that is efficient? I read earlier you attributed private investment (GSM) to the government. Bloody shame on you! What next, Olamide is successful because of Nigerian government and policies? There is no accountability and you are talking about taxes. Have you asked if all states have been able to pay the N18,000 minimum wage but you want increased taxes, from whom if I may ask? Is it insufficient tax rates, that cause politicians to abscond with money for projects which you clearly think is the main reason the airport has been in that condition since 2012? Or would you pretend not to be aware that all 'white elephant projects' that have been investigated revealed that the contract sums were not only over-inflated but the funds were fully disbursed. I don't know if you are trolling, if so then you got me, but I hope there's just a little bit of conscience left in you and that is what I try to reach, even though you may be feeding fat off these sham projects and government officials' stealing. theoldpretender: |
It's very convenient for you to blame the victims ehn So because Nigerians are not paying enough, the people in charge of all the institutions you mentioned should just cart away the money for themselves. I like your reasoning.theoldpretender: |
So, because of that they should just abandon the project and steal the money? I see your sense. It was a very sophisticated well reasoned. theoldpretender: |
